Nicely marked trails, plenty of picnic tables and a great playground. The winter lights festival is lovely for families to drive through, but a little pricy for those on a tight budget. If you go, try for a weeknight and bring hot chocolate and Christmas cookies!Sometimes the park is very crowded and people dont always wear masks or clean up after there dogs. All-in-all a great resource.
Great finding. They are still serving their buffet in an orderly manner and careful. The food was pretty good. Our family is picky so we wouldnt say it has awesome flavor but it was good for a nice brunch. The service was awesome and friendly.
Natural beauty, short easy hiking trails are great. Very crowded though esp during eve hours and weekends. Does have entrance fee. If you have children then there are couple of nice play areas for them. Does display festive lights during holiday season.
A beautiful place to come within an hour’s drive of DC! A nice loop around the lake is an easy hike for all. There are a myriad of places to picnics as well. With a car you do have to pay to get into the main park, something to note.
One of the prettiest parks in the area, the sunsets here are so pretty by the lake. Wish they have some sorta trash cans for convenience, they have small trash bags available on site. Again the sunset by the lake is so pretty. The park is pretty big, so if you are planning with your friends decide on a spot to meet at the park ahead of time.
This pkace is good to spend a day with family and have food and kabob or steak making tea and enjoy. But there is som rdstriction furing Covid-19 and it is bettter to respect distancing. And wearing mask as well.
I like to describe it like a big small park. The lake shore hike was enjoyable and the atmosphere was friendly. Would come back again to do a kayak rental.
This park is BEAUTIFUL. There is free parking just outside the entrance. The Lakeshore trail is great for running. There are lots of hikers out usually so if youre there to run, be sure to warn the hikers as you come behind so they move to the side for you :)
Awesome place for the whole Family. There is also a winter light show in the night
I went to the park all the time over the last few months, great place to hike around Clopper lake. Yesterday there were very few people, and there was a Eastern copperhead snake lying right on the trial around 5 pm. Be careful.
The playground is one of a kind. Its made completely of huge logs. The area is massive so its nice for a little hike. Alot of families were here. Its pretty busy but most of the people were so friendly and waved and spoke to us. Im not use to that where Im from but it really was nice to get that.
No face mask No boat! August 27, at 11 am I was refused the rental of a paddleboat because I didn’t have a face mask. I have been told “No mask No boat” by an male employee.I kept 6 feet physical distance and building had both front and back door wide open, therefore was a good circulation of fresh air and it almost feel like you were outdoor.I came to Seneca lake to build my immune system by exercising and to relive some of the stress of this pandemic. Refusal of service resulted in increasing my stress level. Moreover I highly felt discriminated as people behind me that had face mask were nicely served. Also employee seemed rude as one female employee told me in a rude voice that they aren’t open yet and that I have to wear a face mask while she turned her back towards me. I was not told of another time or day that people without face mask can come to exercise / relive stress. Nor even try to make it happen.I am a Montgomery county resident for a very long time and I pay taxes here. For many reasons including health reason I cant wear a face mask. This feels like a violation of my civil rights as employees at Seneca lake has willingly and knowingly refused my free and equal entry and access to all services and facilities as required by law.Next day, I went to Riverbend Park and employee were very friendly and they found ways to accommodate me / people whom cant wear face mask for various reasons. Go and improve your immune system here by exercising your upper body / kayakingPlease readTHE CASE AGAINST MASKS is the book all America needs to be reading as we emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic. Written by New York Times bestselling authors Dr. Judy Mikovits and Kent Heckenlively, this book reviews the evidence for and against widespread public masking as provided by the Centers for Disease Control and the Mayo Clinic, as well as top scientific publications such as the New England Journal of Medicine and The Lancet. This debate needs to take place without fear and paranoia. Important questions raised in this book are the effect of masks on oxygen and carbon dioxide levels, how SARS-CoV-2 spreads, the effectiveness of various types of masks, those who are most vulnerable to COVID-19, and whether our children should go back to school in the fall, and if so, what measures they should take. The authors previous book, PLAGUE OF CORRUPTION, was the runaway science bestseller of 2020, and the authors bring that same passion and attention to detail to the mask question. As politicians and bureaucrats of all stripes are weighing in on this question, with some placing their cities and states under mandatory masking provisions, we need to understand the science behind their decisions. Are such measures a reasonable response to current circumstances, or is it a dramatic overreach, which in many cases might make the situation even worse? America desperately needs this public conversation to take place with the best science we have available. As Americans have always done during difficult times, we must summon the courage to have these challenging conversations.
Great place for a picnic, beautiful lake area, lots of play grounds for the kids. Also had nice pavilions and a superb disc golf course. Highly recommend!!
This park is beautiful to spend a day with family. Plenty of picnic grounds and walking trails around the lake. It is very clean. They have restrooms which are clean, as well. Do not forget to bring your trash bag with you.
Beautiful park. Ample parking at multiple locations, very clean, trail is comfortable for kids to take a hike. We had a good fall hike.
Beautiful scenery, definitely suggest stopping at the main hub with restrooms to get your baring before heading in to the trails. Plenty animal life, lovely sightlines, !! BRING BUG SPRAY !! Not as many bathrooms around as I expected for the parks size. Staff was surprisingly present throughout my time there. Didnt want to leave and will definitely be back.
Beautiful lake with a well maintained 3.6 mile trail around it, mostly well shaded in the trail area. Some areas of the trail are wide, others are more narrow, but everyone I came across was aware of distancing and passing each other was reasonably managed. Options for longer trails as well. Ample areas for on the grass picnicking, but not many benches/tables. Some absolutely beautiful views. $3 entry for state residents, $5 for out-of-state visitors.
We did the lake shore trail during the pandemic. 4.1 mile walk. $3 entry fee for md residents. Follow the blue markings for the trail. The trail was not easy. Rugged path with roots and stump. Done in around two hours.
Beautiful low humidity day. I walked the Lakeshore trail spending a couple of hours leisurely seeing the wildlife and sights. The trails are well marked and clear. Saw several hikers and fishermen and families in boats on the lake. Fun experience.
This park is amazing. There is so much to do and its shaded! A great place to have a picnic with the kids.
Love taking my dog here!! The trails and parks are awesome!! Kept very clean!! Very good on the upkeep as well!!
Seneca Creek is really nice to go hiking, picnic, and kayak. There is a trail that goes all the way around Clopper Lake. The trail stays right along the shore just about the whole time, which is cool and unique. The hike is not too difficult, but its really pretty and is fairly long. Our dog loves to go swimming in the lake. There is also a good amount of open green space around the park and plenty of pavilions and picnic areas. The only complaint I have is that there is a major lack of trash cans! It can be impossible to find a trash can at that place. A lot of the time we end up putting our dogs full poop bags in the tampon basket in the womens rest room because we literally cannot find another trash can in the whole place. There arent even any in the bathrooms. There is sometimes litter lying around which would be easily eliminated by adding trash cans in commonly trafficked areas. Otherwise we really like Seneca Creek!
Went during Winter Lights and it was absolutely fabulous! The entire family had a great time and enjoyed all the lights. The setup is great, getting in and out was no issues at all even with a lot of cars there. Definitely will be back.
Very peaceful. Awesome place to walk around and enjoy the scenery. Hope to play some disc golf there soon!
Sprawling park with woodsy gravel path surrounding a man made (?) lake. Great tire playground with a kiddie zip line, and winter lights for the coming call/winter season.
Love this park. Its quiet and peaceful. There are several playgrounds so that it doesnt get overcrowded for kids.
This park is wonderful. Sometimes I go there every weekend to just relax, have picnic with my family, and then have a nice walk around the lake.Everything is always clean, the restrooms are well spread out, and there is a lot of parking and different areas depending of what you want to do.The entry is cheap on the weekends and free on the week. It is also not far from DC and accesible 5 minutes from the highway.Would definitely recommend!
I went there for like 15 minutes because The Blair Witch Project was filmed there. It seemed nice though.
It was a very nice place to visit. I would love to go here again with my family and some friends!
The park is stunningly beautiful and well maintained. The trails are nice and easy with few elevation changes. There is no shortage of photo ops, and in fact, last time I was there, I saw several families taking professional pictures. The park staff are friendly and knowledgeable. I feel so lucky to have a park of this caliber nearby. My now-husband even proposed to me there!
My sons family took their new paddle board and kayak. We all had a great time. The boat area was easy to use and the lake is big enough to get some good paddling in.
Excellent place for the family picnic. Winter light is amazing in this park.
We hung our hammocks under the pine trees, grilled and had a picnic. What a peaceful day!
Beautiful park. Great for a hike or to sit by the lake. The park has picnic tables and grills. Social distancing is easy...lots of space.
Overall good. Went on a Friday evening, so theres no charge for entry and not much of a crowd. Especially liked the tire playground and the area behind towards the lake.
Pretty cool that this is the place where the Blair Witch Project was Filmed
I come here quite often and the park staff are always friendly and keep the park clean. Took my 5 year old fishing for the first time and he caught a little fish. Love it!
Loved this park. Wish I had brought lunch and more water so i could stay longer. I hope to come back on a day it is less hot.Clearly a beloved park as literally every pavillion had a party happening and so.e of the picnic tables did as well. They rent canoes for a decent price so i may come back to try them in the fall.
Nice, well maintained and marked trail in the woods. It zigs and zags all around the lake, almost 4 miles altogether. A part of it goes close to a road so there is some noise but mostly its far enough to be able to enjoy just the nature around. Its a great place for people with kids as the park has a really nice playground with a zip line. There are also many picnic tables available.
Children having a lot of fun and adults enjoying a very nature day.
So beautiful! I love kayaking in the lake and walking the trails. I keep forgetting that I want to bring gloves and a bag with me to pick up trash. (Dear public, stop leaving your trash at this amazing park. Thank you!)
Lake Shore Trail: Nice 3.7 mile trail loop around the lake. Enjoy the nature while on the trail with mushrooms Check out the Fall Foliage
Nobody bothers you and if you leave for any reason and come back in theres no hustle
Beautiful park, definitely check the map though, if youre going some place other than the main gate your GPS will not take you to the correct place
Absolutely beautiful, very well kept (including bathrooms).
Perfect recreation activities with my friends. Strongly recommend.
The creek is beautiful and serene; its a wonderful park to relax and enjoy!
Beautiful park gives great places for kids to play, great frisbee golf course, and great lake to boat/fish on.
I saw the Blair Witch here -- highly recommended.
Beautiful trail to go hiking on a cool day. We took the Seneca Creek trail and it was a good ratio of hills to Creeks to trees. The only downside is that I wish it was more well indicated where the trail started, and marked which trail it was. Its also a good idea to include the distance traveled from start to current location.
Very good place for inspiration, feeling the nature and playing with children. And currently, it’s really very helpful and healthy for quarantine time :)
A beautiful day to hike around the lake. Most people were social distancing and wearing masks.
Nice walk around the lake, rented canoe to enjoy the nature (Turtles Heron ...etc
Great playground with a zipline, quick walk to the lake, and great winter light show. Not a lot of parking for playground/picnic area.
Folks are actually observing social distancing and masks complement each other.
Walk around the lake was refreshing.
The only downside is that there were a lot of people walking on the trail, making mountain biking more challenging.
Great place to walk around and great staff. Helped me alot when car battery died:)
Fun place with lots to do. Fishing. Kayaks, canoes, hiking, playgrounds... love this place. People who work here are so friendly too. Bring your own trash bag.
The park is beautiful, but it was unclear until we got to the front of a long line that it cost to enter the park on a weekend. The cost isnt prohibitive, but it was annoying that we didnt know ahead of time.
Lovely hiking trails! It would be great if they would open up a couple of the bathrooms in the winter.
Clean and well kept, even if it was $3 per person on the weekend
Fun loop around the lake. Plenty of space fora picnic or hiking, biking, fishing, etc... Well worth the trip.
Just a really cool place to think things through
Nice park for walking. 3.00 fee to get into the park.
I go here to practice photography not only because its 5 minutes from my house, but because its the most beautiful place to go no matter the time of year. If you want to fish, hike, bring the kids, or just enjoy the sun Seneca Creek State Park is the place to go!
Nice 60 min hike. $3 entry fee.
Nice walk around the lake, good view during sunset
Best State Park in DMV area.
Good regional park, fishing, boating, walking.
This place gave me some good creamy lamb korma. My wife got a shahi paneer and it just good! Will for sure come back.
I love this park! Best picknik area, you can do BBQ super clean..
If there werent so many mosquitos that like this place and my skin I would have gave 5 stars
This is a really nice park, not a big fan of the $3 per person admission fee.
Beautiful, natural area, gentle trails, scenic lake, family friendly! Fall colors are stunning! Peaceful and relaxing place to walk, picnic, bird, take photos, chill on a bench.
Nice area for birthday party and walk your dog.
This is a large and lovely park with many open fields and numerous picnic areas, some sheltered. There are beautiful views of the lake from parking lots if youre just driving through. Boating rentals end after Labor Day - too bad. Restrooms are few and scattered but I couldnt find one in time when I was there recently and went to the woods! Very restful place. Dogs must be leashed.
Good for the kids lots of things to do here. I love fishing
My girlfriend and I set out to walk the Lake Trail. The trail on the website is noted you to be 3.7 miles however, it was actually 4.8 miles. It was easy to moderate, with lots of tree roots.
Very nice place. We got very nice family time there. Not perfect for swimming.
Beautiful park and very nice loop trail around the lake.
Good fishing. Unfortunately some trash in a lot of the lake. Paid entry as with all Maryland parks. Nice park altogether.
Great location, super nice. The disc golf course is excellent.
Nice park. The cost as of 6.20.20 is $3 per person for MD residents and $5 per person for out of state residents. The website does not list that for some reason
Great trails for dogs!
Nice place to go on a mini hike and kayak or peddle boat! Entry fee is $3 for Maryland citizens
Nice place to spend a day. It is accessible by public transport as well. You will find picnic tables, park with swing and slides for the kids, boating and fishing.
A most exellant place to have a family gathering. We all occupied a nice looking picnic shelter which we decoRated ourselves. The park and surrounding grounds were beautiful, well maintained and taken care of.
4.5 miles hiking/biking path around Clopper Lakes-nice views-relatively low traffic.
Good place to see a fresh water lake .
Hiking trails. Biking, park and boating are all family friendly and lots of fun. Picnic tables available, free kid activities, and the sunsets are quite magical. We also love fall here.
Nice place for hiking, picnic with friend and family.
Clopper Lake is a great place to kayak. Get there early, limited parking near boat launch.
Nice place to enjoy nature...
I would say its one of the best places to get some quiet and relaxing time here. Just make sure you go during the week and during the day so there arent too many people there. If you have or can rent a kayak, thats even better! As for some family time, its a great place too! Plenty of BBQ racks and benches around to make it a nice weekend place to spend with your family. I dont think Ive ever seen it over crowded.
Awesome outdoor space close to home! Love the fact that Montgomery county has so many options to enjoy the parks, the trails, the water! If you love nature, this is one spot you dont want to miss! ( Dont tell everyone, trying to keep it a little secret!) Lol.. no really though there is enough room everyone to stop and enjoy!
Loved. Nice and enjoyed the beautiful weather.
