I enjoy watching movies at all AMC theatres. I have the premier stubs card so there are a lot of benefits like no convenience fees, free upgrades, $5 Tuesdays and the amazing rewards! I like this AMC because they screen most Indian movies.

Comfy with the recliner chairs and food brought to your seat. Food is expensive though

Its a bit confusing locating it and finding the way in. But its nice and big. They gave good instructions on how to get there. Wouldnt mind it a little cleaner on the hallway but each theater is clean, the food was pretty good. The server that delivered it to the seat was quiet and discreet. I would like to go there again, saw men in black awesome experience. The entire view was nice

The new seating system can cause issues if youre not planning far enough ahead. But boy are they fully comfortable. Concessions could use a speed boost. The popcorn kettles were cranking out hot fresh popcorn! The theater was generally tidy with only traces of the previous shows of the day.

This location is amazing! I had a great girls date night with my best friend. We had drinks at the bar prior to the movie which made for a more entertaining experience . Ryan the bartender was great, he had us laughing! The place was clean and seating was very comfortable.

This is a step up from the Waldorf AMC. Oh my goodness! You can order your food & have it delivered to your seat. The menu is great you have your traditional Popcorn, Candy & Drinks but they also have adult beverages & a variety of dinner menus to choose from. Its in a great area in Rockville community & it has many other shopping stores within the mall to choose from. I wish we had one like that in Waldorf. But I do love my Waldorf AMC especially the reclining seats.

I enjoy this theater. Despite the amount of foot traffic theres always enough room to get around. The places a little bit of a maze due to a lot of little op shoots to theaters but its what helps it maintain its spaciousness. The staff has always been helpful and the bartenders are always on point both with the drinks and their service.

Nice new set up since being renovated. The reclining seats are comfortable. The concessions give you a variety of choices, including gourmet popcorn. Self serve ticket machines. A bar. Also, the food is brought to your seat. Its an overall great experience at the movies.

I love the clean reclining seats and the availability of 18 theaters. The movies are up to date and run for a decent amount of time. It is a well used complex and as such, I imagine it must be difficult to keep clean. Sunday, 1/6/2020 the complex seemed unusually filthy and lacking in maintenance of the soda machines so that 1 on ground floor didnt work and one on upper floor didnt work. The one working on ground floor was out of diet coke, and both upper and lower floors were out of lids. Ouch! Overall, it is a theater of choice and the complex is next to many restaurants, so I suppose popcorn and soda dont need to be a necessity!

Best place to hangout and watch movies in Gaithersburg area! They’ve really upped the game in the past year or so!

First time Ive been back since the remodel was completed. They now have a kitchen area and are able to deliver to your seat. Unlike Alamo Drafthouse you dont have waiters in the theater (which I think is a good thing as you dont constantly have people walking around. Seats now have small tables attached to them. Seats are very comfortable but there isnt much leg room.

I havent been to this location in years. This place gets 2 stars because when we got to the counter to purchase tickets I thought we would have been greeted by humans instead we were greeted by machines. It took us (and others) to figure out how to scan our vouchers to get our tickets. They had one person helping many of us trying to figure this thing out. After we got our tickets which took about 20 minutes, we went on to purchase some hot dogs and popcorn. I was charged for a large drink which we never ordered. (I got my money back for the drink). On to watch the movie. The seats are the most uncomfortable seats ever. They do not recline like many other movie theaters chairs. When someone wants to get up to use the bathroom there isnt a lot of space for them to pass which was very annoying . We didnt get the whole table thing thats attached to the chairs because when I would put a large popcorn it will block my view of the screen. I dont think I will be visiting this movie theater again in the future. If I do decide to visit again in the future I do hope that they will bring back human beings. I bet a lot of people lost their jobs because of these new machines. SMH. Very sad.

I recently watched a movie at this AMC. It was very enjoyable experience at this theater. Here are some key point. 5 - Location, choices, Cleaniness. 5 - staff service and organization. 5 - available choice for movies and number of theaters. 3 - seats are no longer full recliners. 3 - location is a bit tricky and parking is a challenge. 3 - food options as there are many restaurants near by. 3 - ease of ordering food. AMC THEATERS are always fun and they are adding new features.

The theater and seating is great however if you order food it takes a long time to get to you and is only OK. We went to an 8:25 showing sat through almost an hour worth of previews before the movie even started and by the time we left there was almost no staff in the theater. It is a very nice theater in comparison to other ones in this area and I really enjoy the seating and the screen. I would like to see them cut the trailer time before the movie way down so theyre not wasting my time and for the food to show up a little sooner.

Very comfortable, liked the little table and the recliners. Plenty of room and designed to have unobstructed views. Ordered food delivered at our seats. It took about 30 minutes; food was ok with nothing to rave about. Also ordered drinks from the bar; those were absurdly expensive compared to nearby bars.

It was my first time visiting this theater since the Dine-In service began. Parking was normal for the Rio/Washingtonian, which means it can take a bit to find a spot in a garage, but there are spaces and both stairs and elevators. The concessions are pretty decent, and prices what one might expect for movie theaters (most of your ticket price goes to movie studios, and such so the theater relies on the sales). The seating is comfortable. I had ordered an entree, so food was delivered to my reserved seating during previews.

Love this whole atmosphere and shopping complex. The view of the lake is beautiful and relaxing. But what I love even better are the membership discounts I get from the movie theater.

Pretty good theatre. I wish there was a way to see how the seating really looks for each theatre. I have payed for IMAX and experienced tight seating arrangements with lesser legroom than other theatre rooms. I think its threatre room 17 that is like that. I believe theatre room 15 and 18 have good space. Also the seats dont fully recline. Like your legs dont go all the way up whereas other cinemas with similar pricing offer much better recliners.

I expected more for a dine in experience. What we got was a choice of overpriced items at the snack bar that were delivered to our assigned seating. God forbid if you need catsup or mustard because youll be done with your food before you get it. We ordered 1 cheeseburger and 1 chicken sandwich and 1 diet coke. Total 40.00. Not including the movie tickets. The table you sit at consists of a swing in tray on a regular movie theatre seat. No alcohol.

Great location and love what the renovations they did to the theaters... Wish they wouldn’t have the seats at the front so close to the screen but I guess that’s not an issue at this place alone... Also, they should have more people attending for snacks, sometimes it takes an age to get the soda and popcorn, let alone ordering food.

The cinema has been updated nicely. However, it takes them forever to bring up the food to your seat. We just saw a movie that started at 1:30 pm on a week day, so there were not very many people at all. It still took them 40 minutes to bring us our order of two sandwiches.

We went for an early morning show with kids! We had fun. Seating has been upgraded to reclining chairs, since the last time we went. Also many new restaurants have opened there. Theres a Dave and Busters and a Silver Diner.

I grew up in Gaithersburg. I remember Rio back in the day. I have moved away from the area a couple of years ago and just recently revisited the theater.Wow. I was completely blown away. I love what they’ve done with the place. This AMC has everything you could want.The only thing missing now is mobile ordering. I’m sure that’s coming soon.

It was actually amazing to where the location is. I overall like the entire thing. Good garage then easy access in. They bring you your food while you watch the movie and the saets are very comfortable. They even have a Silver Diner on another level if youre hungry and youre into that type of restaurant. Fantastic place to take your kids, family or someone out. Beware to bring more money than usual because they have places to shop as well but excellent place

I prefer going to Cinépolis and iPic over this theater. The food and drink options are better. The seats are way more comfortable. You don’t even have phone service in these theaters here, so if you happen to have an emergency, you won’t know about it until your movie is over (This actually happened to me and I did not know that a family member was in the hospital until two hours later). It’s definitely not a horrible experience, but it’s also not my first choice to look for a movie that I want to see in theater.

I love the revamp they did to this theater! I love that I can get my tickets online and not have to wait in line. I love the fact that they have expanded the theatres and made them a lot more comfy with room to recline. I love being able to order the food and drinks to your seat. It is so awesome now. Not saying it wasnt before but the new add ons are a great addition to an already amazing place. Its always so clean in the place and the staff is great. The movies are such great quality! I always have an amazing time when I come here. Im about to sign up to the movie club all because i love coming to see movies here!

The most comfortable Ive ever been in a movie theatre. The recliners were great. The food I ordered was brought to my seat with no hassle.

So this AMC is different from others in that you can order at the food counter and get the food delivered to your seat number. This sounds pretty awesome until you see that the prices for the food are very high, which is what loses this location a star. Other than that, the theaters are pretty nice!

Comfortable seats. Middle arm swings up so you can cuddle with your partner. Nice fresh look and overall environment.

This was by far my worst experience with a movie theater, EVER!1. The usher had ZERO customer service skills. Not even a hello upon approach.2. Upon ordering my a large popcorn, with a large drink all for a whopping $20, I proceeded to the butter machine(s) on the left hand side, both of which were empty. I informed the attendant and she directed me the two other set of butter on the right hand side, without any attempt to refill the two empty ones. Mind you this is a 1PM showing on a Tuesday which one would think they’d be full considering the time and day, that’s assuming they do their due diligence and refill and clean the equipment every night.3. I go to get my ice and soda at the lower level soda machines, I don’t sip my drink until I arrive upstairs to enter the showroom, when I take a sip of the soda it’s hardly a cherry coke, but of a cherry soda with NO coke. So then I go these two other machines they have upstairs and frankly with no surprise neither machine had ice, they were either both nonworking or empty.... who knows. So I decide to just get a coke and carry on with no ice, when I sip the coke as I’m sitting watching the movie I so much anticipated to watch 20 minutes late, the damn coke is flat!!!! So needless to say I had to leave the movie and miss more of it to walk all the way downstairs to get a different drink WITH ice.I can’t make this up. The salvation here was the actual movie, thanks to Joaquin Phoenix.This place is a complete overly priced mess. Good luck!

Watched Frozen II with my family.Pros:Nice reclining seats. My kid simply loved it.Good dine-in service.Nice Macguffins bar.Cons:Drinks at Mcaguffin are super expensive and are watered down. No wonder not many people were there.Only food is delivered to the seat not drinks. You need to order drinks at the bar and carry them to your seat yourself.The screening theater is not that tidy.

I took my grandsons to see a movie at Rio and bought them 3 small sodas and 3 small popcorns - the bill was $46 and change. Ludicrous! And the small size was huge! There is no excuse for this price gouging. And for that price you dont even have the drink poured for you, you have to line up and use the machines to dispense your own! Meanwhile the place was filthy - sticky floors around the concession area that got so much sticky stuff on my shoes they stuck to my kitchen floor when I got home. And dirty bathrooms out of toilet paper. So overpriced it is ridiculous.

We bought our tickets online for a late night show. Seating is reserved so we were able to get our favorite spot. Parking was abundant and free. Getting into the theater took a few min as Rio is under construction, but it wasnt difficult. We placed our food order at concessions and got our drinks. There are now escalators in the lobby so you dont need to leave and re-enter to go upstairs. The new seats are amazing. Theyre big and comfy with tray tables that swivel. The seats have leg rests and the ability to recline controlled by buttons on the inside of the armrest. There was a wall behind our seats so we were not reclining into the row behind us. Or food was delivered quickly, accurately, and hot. The pretzel bites and flat bread were delicious, a big step up from their previous offerings. The projection and sound system were great and the entire movie experience was wonderful.

Nice theater with dining and beverages of all types. The IMAX is a bit cramped with no recline and the air conditioning sub par especially with a full house. The screen and sound was very good. The amenities of the entire theater area is very nice.

Big layout for a movie theater. Modern, with a very open feel. Brightly lit common areas. The placement of where the bar is located is inconvenient but I suppose that couldnt be helped. Theaters are clean usually. Parking can be a challenge, but not the worst. Has 2 levels. I love the location. Any business located at The Rio is pretty much winning.

It seems like its getting run down a little bit even after the big remodel. The IMAX is horrible at this location. The seats are smashed together and you have absolutely no leg room, you touch the chair in front of you.

We enjoyed it...definitely coming back and they are bringing Dave & Busters to this location.....the food was great..it is a bit pricey but its worth it...the cooks..cook very well...no hair in my foodchairs are comfortable and clean..I dont feel like it has bed bugsthe only complaint I have is that the staff isnt friendly...they should greet the customers when they enter and upon leaving...maybe say Thanks for visiting us..We hope you enjoyed your experience...idk...something...I spoke several times and was ignored but I still had a great time...This is one of my new spots for the summer with all the new movies coming out

I worked here for 3 years, and still come here for every movie. The redesigned Theaters with reclining seats are Heavenly especially with my bad back I can finally sit pain free through a whole movie. The food is expensive like any other theater, but really easy parking and a great location if you live nearby. I never feel like Im leaving my backyard, whereas going to the Regal, the other theater in Rockville, really feels like you are going out into the city. There is something so quaint and comforting about the Rio that I just absolutely love even slipping out on a Tuesday night and going by myself in slippers its just so easy

Being from TX I only rock with Regal. New to the AMC family. I only joined so I wouldn’t have to wait in line behind people I was there before. The benefits of being a Stubs/A-List member. The food is overpriced but that’s all theaters. I will recommend their fries, chicken tenders meal and the popcorn. Idk what they make it with but it’s fluffy and tasty. The seats are a little hard to figure out in the dark but comfortable. Parking is the only issue. If your movie starts at 5pm get there by 430pm.

I havent been to the movies in years. We had a gift certificate so we went to the matinee the day after Thanksgiving. Complete remodel, recliner seating...it was FABULOUS!!! Ive never been more comfortable in a movie theater. I dont think I move the entire movie except to get more popcorn to shove in my mouth!!! I am ruined for any theater that does not have adjustable seating and foot rests.

I see movies at Rio weekly. If you see a movie, Prime! Tonight I saw an IMAX screen for the first time. The screen was great. The seats are fold down, unpowered, but comfortable. Rio AMC does screen foreign films which hold me between blockbusters (usually in digital screenings). Bathrooms are clean. I took a star because they do not have A Dolby screen and AMC staff shut the security gates DURING the previews of their last screening. I have missed a few minutes of a movie because I needed to wait to be let through the locked doors. However, I would recommend this theater, especially prime if Dolby is unavailable.

The new theatres are awesome. The seats are very comfortable and I love the recliners. The dine-in service isnt the best though. They took my order and brought after an hour. Almost at the end of the movie. The drinks are super expensive too.

Unbelievable. 72+ hours and still no response.“ Tonight’s Christmas Day (12/25/19) experience was the absolute worst. I have been an AMC member for over a decade now and never been so embarrassed. The concession stand at AMC RIO Dine-In, Gaithersburg, MD was out of ice, bottled water (staff did not offer a substitute item) Nathan’s hot dogs, and fish & chips which reflects false menu advertising. I specifically planned this date night for my spouse and was so embarrassed. I purposely viewed the AMC Rio Dine-In menu prior to arrival to avoid delays. I look forward to hearing from a manager as soon as practicable.”

Recently renovated to have fully reclined seat with adjustable leg position. This seats also provide more sitting room so not to worry to keep your space from stranger sitting next to you. Picture quality sometimes not clear recently at times, but this place features most of current available movies

Updated, clean, decent dine-in options. The chicken avocado sandwich was good. Would highly recommend to go see a movie there.

Very nice since the renovation, plus they have the dine-in option where they bring the food to your seat. Definitely worth visiting if youve never gone or are returning guests from days of old.

Wonderful place.. i go there every alternate weekend to watch movies.. should book the tickets in advance.. many times i had to watch movies from the first row..

Pretty standard movie theater.We came to see avengers endgame and the fire alarm went off. The theater did what they could and gave us tickets to see another movie instead.

Came here to get my uncle cremated, however the cremator looked to be filled with popcorn. In addition, I do not understand why they would charge an entry fee. They also asked how many tickets I needed, even though I obviously only needed one, for my uncle. However, they made me purchase one for myself as well. I wasn’t the one getting cremated, so this didn’t make sense to me. When I die, I will not be cremated here.

We love the set up but only row A was available. Sitting so close distorted the picture. The Rock had a huge chin

This movie theatre has a nice bar (of course it is pricey - draft beer $11) and you can order your food and they deliver it to you at your seat. The seats are adjustable and comfortable.

The service was good, the recliner seats were nice, people werent loud and you could get refills I would say I would come here all the time and it is near dave and busters and outside of is buetiful.

I like all the new upgrades. The chairs are comfortable and I enjoyed the food menu (delivered to your seat). A lot pricey but I didnt have to worry about arriving late for my movie. And it was a clean, inviting environment. But why no handicapped doors to get into the theater and the building? Hmm.

This was one of the worst movie experiences that Ive had in a long time. My wife and I opted for a dare night to break up the norm. We decided to splurge and we got a few different things from the food menu and got a seat in the IMAX. We started off in the theater thinking it was quite warm, but figured that maybe they were waiting to turn the air on at the start of the movie. We were wrong. An hour in and we were drenched and feeling nauseous from the heat and lack of airflow. Despite multiple complaints to staff, the air never came on, nor did anyone ever bother explaining why we had no air. Oh, you were probably wondering where our food was; well so were we! After an hour of waiting for our food and getting more and more frustrated, I finally left the movie to go ask a waiter about the delay on our food. The man I spoke with was very kind and offered again to speak with a manager about the air and also to get our food for us immediately. When all was said and done, we spend two and a half hours sweating, over an hour waiting for our food, and the rest of the night trying to recover from feeling gross. Based on the overinflated prices and the bad experience, I highly recommend spending your money elsewhere!

After renovating the seats, this theater is super comfy and always a great viewing experience. It is not the best place to go as a couple unlike you want the separation in the middle by the seats hand rest

Love the IMAX & Digital Dolby theaters here! AMC Stubs Alist cost & value cant be beat. We usually dont get our refreshments delivered to our seats, but it is a nice option that is available at this theater.

As a theatre its fantastic! The food was nothing like the advertised pictures. Flatbread was skimpy on toppings and salad was half the size of the picture.

Really Liked AMC setup. The Seating was adjustable. Had enough leg room, armrest with Reclining Seat invention, nice. Good Picture screen and sound, yet, Ive seen better. But overall, everything was entertaining. Also, the crowd makes a difference as well. They were engaging yet respectful.

Went to see Joker in the IMAX theater. The seats have almost no leg room in front. Im only 510and was struggling to stretch my legs even a little bit. It was very cramped. Also felt like they had the heat on. I was sweating throughout the whole movie. Bad experience. The movie was great but the theater sucked!

While having a bar is a nice touch, as expected the drinks are wildly overpriced. They also have 4 of the soda machines, which every time Ive gone there have been out of ice, and the soda slightly warm. Its ice folks... expect to need a lot of it.... should not be that difficult to fix.

The seats omg the table attachment is terrible not made for anyone of large size and theres no way to remove them or get them out your way. Otherwise all the new amenities are great but need to work on space for parking, parking there has become insane on any weekends or holidays.

Usually I enjoy my experience here however this evening they seemed short staffed some of the staff seem to avoid questions or the willingness to help. Also the seat I was in did not work. It would not recline and the leg portion would not work either

My girlfriend and I went to see the invisible man. We ordered food from concession and the kitchen. They did bring me the wrong burger, but it was still good.

I went there to see the BTS World Tour in Seoul movie. This theater sort of sucks, but my love for BTS made me ignore it. Im normal sized and I found the seats rather tight and narrow. The seats are too close together compared to other dine in theaters and plain regular movie theaters. The food trays are small af. Ill stick to iPic from now on.

Here is my list of things that were not worth the extra money: 1. They were out of Carmel popcorn,s I asked and the kid told me he didnt know, so we chuckled and just ordered reg popcorn and a soda. We went to the soda machine and they had no ice. When the movie was over, as we were leaving the theater there was an employee sitting on the floor with his feet sticking out so everyone had to walk over his legs. Last but not least, I put my trash in the trash cart and the girl says to me, very nesty thats not the trash the trash is outside...wow.

The newly renovated Cinemas is pretty nice. Havent tried the food but I like the comfy seats. Be aware that some seats dont lean all the way back and the leg rest area doesnt lift as high in some of the auditoriums

This Theatre is pretty... Ok. The seats recliners are dissapointing, they go like 3 inches upward. The seats are comfortable . But recently I had the worst film experience at this theatre. First there was barely any drinks in the freestyle machine. The entire place was filthy and the projector broke during the movie. This Theatre needs to get it together.

Newly renovated movie theater. They have assigned seats and have bar areas to hangout before or after the movie. The location is central to plenty of shops and restaurants which you can go before or after the movie.

Huge and clean, recliners. I have an A+ membership but when i get in the lines at the concessions for membership, none of the employees really act as if its anything special and most dont even pay attention to anyone standing in it. This is at ALL AMCs Ive gone to. I rarely get food because of the prices but last couple of times did and people in the regular lines would get helped before me, standing in the cut the line. Again this is at concessions. Entrance was fine here with good customer service.

The renovations here look nice. I think serving drinks and food at the seats was a good idea, plus the theater has a nice new open entrance.Im not one to complain but it feels that the theater made some sacrifices for the new amenities. Sound proofing for instance. We sat in theater 2, a dine in theater, and saw Bohemian Rhapsody but we could hear Creed II in the adjacent theater, and it was really loud and distracting. Also the tables for the food are reminiscent of fold away desks in college lecture halls, except they dont fold away which made the seats difficult to get in and out of, and it made the seats feel very restrictive.

Theater is nice and reclining chairs are great. I wish I could say the same about the staff, seems to be a bunch of high school kids with no manners at all. In one instance the employees were making fun of a customer in front of other costumers waiting for assistance. Then if that wasn’t enough as me and my family were heading down the ramp of theater 13 upstairs we were greeted by a mouse. We headed downstairs to explain this to a employee, and the employee instead of doing anything stood there and laughed and said there is nothing they can do because they didn’t have a radio...

Seats were very comfortable and the general ambience was good. Will definitely revisit

Ive gone here almost all my life and theyve finally upgraded.The seats are fancier, the food is better, and you can dine in during your movie??This is the future and you are living in it. You can finally pay $20 for a movie ticket and feel like its maybe worth it.

Would be great if they started it based on volume of people. Standing in line for 45 mins to get a drink or popcorn is not reasonable. This has now happened for last 2 movies Ive seen here. Wont be coming back, which is really unfortunate since this theater has so much potential and is the closest to my home.

SLOW, SLOW, SLOW! Late to our movie due to waiting in the ridiculously slow line to order snacks. Their is only one line to order ALL food /snacks, even if you just want to grab some popcorn, candy or a drink.Think the fact that they funnel all orders---including their full menu dine - in ordering threw the same line makes just grabbing a popcorn or drink take SO much longer!They need to revisit their process, add more registers, etc, or tell guests to allow LOTS of extra time to grab their (way-overpriced) snacks they essentially force you to buy since you cant bring in your own.The least they could do is make it speedier /not make you late for your show while parting you with more of your money!!

The theater is great. The new renovations have made this theater one of the best Ive been to. At the time I am writing this, the IMAX theater was still under construction. I am excited to see what they are doing with it. Adding reclining chairs to it would be awesome. Would definitely recommend this place.

The food wasn’t hot and didn’t taste good, they got our order wrong, there was piss all over the bathroom floor, the cup holder/table things block the view of the movie, and the theater next to us was so loud that it distracted us from the movie we were seeing.considering we spent over 100 dollars for 3 tickets and some lackluster food, i expected better. unfortunately i already bought my tickets for star wars here in december...if regal cinemas in rockville wasn’t sold out already, i most definitely would go there instead.

5 stars for service of bringing food to customers when theyre already in the movie. I can bring my beer?! Loved that freedom! Price for 8 wings was a bit hefty, but my son loved it. Priceless.
