This was a delightful, surprise find. This theater is very quaint but very small with limited seating. However, we were surprised to find that they served wine and beer ($5 piece) with a sample of free champagne. The play itself (I love you because...) Was cute and well done with only six actors. We would go back again.
I saw the play called A Film by Craven Frankel. One of the best productions Ive ever seen: excellent script causing laughter, tears, reflection, and life insights; the acting was supurb; sets were simple but not an important part of the show. Except the body bag. The theater gives an intimate experience with only about 80 seats (all good), local writers & performers, and on site parking. Ive now seen four productions - all have been great.
A unique theatrical experience thanks to the setup of the stage! The shows are well priced and better performed, definitely worth a visit.
An intimate venue (only 65 seats) with quality theatre productions. I just saw Jekyll and Hyde. It was awesome! Big musical production value up close and personal!
Macbeth was well done today. I know budgets are tight but it was very hot in there! Also, it would be a help to you if you print season pass prices in the performance brochure... just an idea. Good job today. Ill be back!
Saw Exit Santa. Charming & funny 2-act play that also manages to poignantly tell the glory & tragedy of the Christmas story, esp Santa Claus. Good production for a small all volunteer theater.
Quaint place with an intimate setting for watching live performances. Really enjoy supporting s place like this for live theater. Only issue was the lack of good visible signage from Main Street. Drive past it without realizing where it was. Great experience there though!
Its that I dont know what the space is.... Or what is happening there... I stopped by to grab a brochure was told I need a phone to know of events auditions or classes... and the building appeared underdeveloped.... I tried to grab a few art supplies near the theatre and it was too expensive and also let out to only a few artists..... The clerks are really athletic that I could meet and they appeared more right for a work out then a cultural manifesto.... Strange signs like staff only... Kind of made me feel in an immature ghetto waiting for a wealth savior
We went on Halloween this year and saw the Florida man it was hilarious the place was tucked in parking was fine we will be back.
Small theater run on donations. Very up and personal with the stage...but its fun. Definitely going back
For such a small theater the performance was amazing. I must admit that I was worried when I first arrived but my fears were quickly put to rest.We came for a musical and were delighted at the voice and acting of each person. There was not a weak performer in the entire production. The sets were sparse but effective. On the down side, the show started late, parking is difficult to navigate, outside lighting and signage are poor, and two unisex bathrooms barely served the needs of the audience during the intermission. Dont let that dissuade you from coming, just be forewarned.I heartily recommend giving it a try. Ill be back.
Its an old fashioned, small theater that brings ya back to when acting was about passion, not $$
A small theater where every seat is basically a front row seat. Very unique and cool.
Went to see “The Right To Remain Dead “Today was the lsat show, just amazing What a interactive comedy, very funny ️
I invited a group of 17 people to celebrate my birthday by coming out to watch Sunset Village at ART. The group consisted of nearly every demographic (young/old, men/women, several ethnicities/backgrounds, etc) and EVERY SINGLE PERSON said they absolutely loved the show and had an amazing time! It was a real treat and I know well be back again soon.
Great small town theater, comfortable seating, talented acting, great price!!
The most unique theatre experience anyone can have in Gainesville. Dedicated, hard working volunteers and seemingly endless talent. This theatre is a treasure.
Small community theater. I have seen two shows there and both were great.
ART always does a great job-acting, costumes, sets. Shakespeare is complex. ART did him more than justice. Laughed out loud! And Measure for Measure is very timely.
Great tiny theater. Lots of effort in their productions. Never disappoints.
Amazing play and an awesome room for intimate plays.
Never even knew they were there until my sister was in a play with them. Very nice local theater.
Such a fun and engaging black box theatre. Run and loved by community members willing to work hard at creating an artistic free-space for all interested parties. Ive loved every performance Ive worked on as well as every Ive seen. An absolute blessing to have in our city.
Location: The location is pretty unique, with large, vaulted ceilings entirely built of large wooden beams and trusses. The building itself is clearly historic and almost resembles a monestary.Cast: I saw No Exit by Jean-Paul Sartre here, January 2018. The seating for the audience was rather cozy and creaky, however it was entirely fine and manageable. I was fairly impressed by the acting. Though I felt like it was slightly dramatic during rare moments (ex. loud for the sake of loudness), the composure of the actors and lack of fumbles surpassed the negatives.Play: The play itself was decent. In a lot of ways it reminded me of 12 Angry Men, with various characters bickering at each other and alluding to the outside world which was always kept separated from the scene. Personally I prefer other genres, but it has its amusing moments for sure.
Caught a So Far Sounds show here and it was great. The sound was amazing!
This small community theater never lets us down. Always puts together very entertaining shows.
Amazing small theater! Love our local talent
Excellent play, a classic English attempted murder. Wine and snacks. Glad to see an expansion of the stage area, even if not used well
Great vibe, Free beer, and a fun show!
This little theater keeps getting better and better. I love it!
Meagan Reagle is brilliant and the ART is brilliant for working with Reagle.Waiting for Gadot answered all of lifes questions, and The Skin of Our Teeth gave me renewed appreciation for the wit and subversive eccentricity of former generations.
Class act actors, actresses, crew and staff. Love them.
Great group of actors. great productions!
Lovely venue!! Saw a burlesque show here, and was quite impressed.
