First impression is a lasting impression; staff was great, knowledgeable, courteous and the facility was clean. Prices are reasonable and they have some unique firearms to rent, check them out, you wont regret it. They had a fall festival today and it was very family friendly, they had pumpkin decorations, moon bounce, a kids gun safety class and food trucks, too top it off the weather was perfect! My brother and I went in for the first time a few weeks ago, and we had a great experience! The people working there showed us everything we needed to know, as it was our first time at an indoor shooting range in general. They have a nice clean setup, and it wasnt overly crowded at all, so we were able to take our time until we were out of ammo.After we were done, Kelvin took us to the front of the store and spent time with us answering all of our questions regarding their fully automatic weapons. They are a little pricey, but Kelvin explained to us all of our options and what would be the best money saver, and we definitely look forward to trying some of them in the future.Kelvin and the friendly staff ensure that we will definitely be back with friends and family, and we highly recommend this range!

The best TEAM ever to be in one location of any retail outlet I have ever been to. Yes even APPLE! I have been there 4 times over the last month. Dealt with different people each time! Had gun transferred there, bought a gun there, and took my son there so shoot an AR. These guys are helpful and as attentive as they can be even when busy! If they make a mistake they own it and fix it! Really have to say they are 30 minutes from my home and wont go anywhere else to shoot. There is another Range about 6 miles from there....no names but they are the worst! Im no relative LOL but a recent gun enthusiast and collector, and would give these guys 10 stars if I could!....... Hoping this continues as I plan to be there often!

Best place if your are a beginner! After they took care of my husband ( knows how to shoot) They took the time to go over everything, by the time he was done I felt very comfortable with the gun he picked out for me. I wish I could remember the guy who helped but in all honesty they ALL were very good. Thanks again and with the experience I had, we will be more than happy to make the hour drive again. Dont purchase items from their retail shop. They have an All Sales Final policy. I bought a $65 pair of muffs for ear protection and they dont fit. They refused to exchange or return them because the package was open. How are you supposed to try on ear protection if you dont open the package? Lesson learned.

We went to TMGN today for my husbands birthday. They truly went above and beyond for us. We all had minimal to no experience and wanted to shoot machine guns. Needless to say these guys were extremely patient and knowledgeable. Felt very relaxed but safe. Can’t wait to go back.

This was my first time at the gun range. The facility was very nice and clean and the staff was amazing. Even though it it was Extremely busy it was not a long wait until I got to go on the range. While on the range I noticed this young lady shooting And explaining gun safety, hand placement and aiming with a couple guys that were with her but then I noticed when I went out to get more ammo she was working behind the counter. When I went up to the counter to get more ammo I asked the young lady Brittany didn’t I just see you on the range shooting? Also I asked why she didn’t have the same shirt on as everyone else that was working. She explained to me that she was not working today she just came in to shoot and saw how busy it was but she wanted to help our customers and co workers. I was very impressed with her response because most people would not have helped and would’ve just left. After asking her 1 million questions which she knew the answer to all of them which I was very impressed with. I thanked her and apologized for taking up her time and she replied with no problem this is what I’m here for. Thanks Brittany for your amazing help. I will be returning soon.

Just wanted to give an amazing amount of kudos to Kelvin Wu and the staff at The Machine Gun Nest. I went for a birthday outing and our group was majority of first-timers. Kelvin made us feel super comfortable, answered all of our questions, managed our anxiety (reminded us to breathe ha!), and made sure to check on us throughout the process. All of the staff here are truly knowledgeable about the different types of guns, gun safety, and getting rid of first time jitters. Definitely check them out!

They need to update their hours, 1st day off in 3 weeks just drove across town 20 minutes to find out that their hours of change because of COVID-19. I understand but Im kind of bummed out 1st time Ive had an opportunity to shoot in a while at least I thought so.

I’m from Texas I was traveling to Ohio. I tried to get ahold of every gun shop no answer or when they did they didn’t want to answer my question fortunately Josh was very helpful answering my questions. I really appreciated his patience with me. 10/10

First time gun buyer here, my experience at the machine gun nest today was great, the staff are friendly and respectful to all people. I went in today to buy a ruger 10-22 as my first rifle . Never did they try to upsell me or, take advantage of my first time buyer status, forgive me for not knowing his name, but the bald guy with the beard was extremely helpful in showing me what cleaning supplies and other accesories I would need, overall a great experience and I definitely will be shopping here again.

What an exhilarating and amazing experience. As a first time shooter, I was VERY nervous. As soon as my boyfriend and I walked in, Mike was attentive and helped us throughout the whole check in process. He was very thorough and patient with showing me how to use a gun. He made sure I was 100% ready before using the real thing. Walking into the range, we met Kevin who helped continue the amazing experience. I felt safe throughout my whole time being there. I had lots of fun and would def recommend this place for first timers or anyone feeling uncomfortable or just anyone. Will def come back again!

If youre not police or military DO NOT BUY a firearm from the Machine Gun Nest in Frederick Maryland. They treat people who arent blue like second rate citizens. I waited for over an hour to be helped and when i asked why they kept helping people that came in after me i was told to Show some respect to law enforcement. The help i ended up receiving was shotty at best, the guy tried to sell me a 9mm as a .45 and then tried to say my inexperience was the culprit to wasting his time.With all the competition in town i suggest going some place reputable like Gun Runners or Atlantic. Amazing and phenomenal experience best shooting range I have ever been to. Ryan was an awesome person to work with, he had some great gun recommendations and walked us through knowledge before we went to the range. We felt confident on how to handle the weapons correctly. I highly recommend going here even if your coming from other places in MD and even Virginia.

Really nice place but customer service was lacking. I purchased a riflescope from them. After delivery I noticed that the scope was previously mounted and used. But they did not want to take any responsibility and blamed it on the supplier. I just wanted to get an exchange for the riflescope, but they wanted to charge me 40% restocking fee for something that was previously used and returned to the supplier. Never buying anything from this place again.

Worked with Deryck on a fact finding mission for purchasing parts to construct my first AR Pistol, as well as pricing for accessories. Also got great information on hunting equipment as well as Handgun info and pricing for personal and home defense. The whole atmosphere and feeling working with Deryck was professional but without coming across as prohibitively so: I was offered information in a way that was easy to understand without the hint of condescension. Cant wait to work with these guys more in the future. Every first time firearm owner or even a fire arm skeptic should make this the first place they go.

We had a wonderful experience here, and I highly recommend the Machine Gun Nest! All the staff were friendly, patient, helpful, and professional. We had a large group of varying experience (bachelor party), and they were very accommodating - they helped us understand what was available, and made sure we all had an awesome time. The staff was very knowledgeable, and provided some interesting history and background in addition to the safety training. Their recommendations were spot on, the range of firearms available was impressive to say the least, and I know everyone had an absolute blast. Thank you!

With knowledgeable staff that are respectful of everyones firearm-proficiency level, you can expect the same level of attention and respect whether this is your first time to a gun store or range, or your one-hundredth.This place has a number of qualified gunsmiths on-hand. Many smithing jobs are done on the spot, and their fees are almost half of what you can expect elsewhere.Their range is also well-lit, supervised at all times, and their rental fees are VERY reasonable. I drove almost an hour out of my way because Id heard such good things about The Machine Gun Nest. Even with such high expectations, I was still pleasantly surprised.

I have been to many ranges and gun clubs, and this is by far the BEST experience Ive ever had. The staff are friendly and helpful, and (unlike other places) are welcoming to novice shooters. Nobody talks down to you or gives you the stink-eye here. The range rules are very safe, but not overbearing. The facility (including the bathroom!) is clean and well-maintained. They have a good selection of guns to rent, and the stuff for sale is reasonably priced. Im SO GLAD this place is in my area, and even though I dont shoot often, I am happy to be a supporting member. Recently visited and had a problem with my gun, and a staff member went above and beyond to help me troubleshoot it. If youve had bad experiences at other shooting ranges, Machine Gun Nest sets a new standard of service. Im seriously blown away by how awesome these folks are, its a breath of fresh air compared to other places. I would give 6 stars if I could!!

Hands down one of the best ranges in the area. My wife Cindy and I are members and live in Gaithersburg. Its worth the travel for us to come here every weekend. Very knowledgeable, warm, and very friendly staff. Doesnt matter if you are a newbie to the sport or a seasoned veteran, you will be treated with the same respect. Very organized, very clean facility. Never a long wait and if there is one, you can relax and enjoy yourself in their lounging area thats equipped with nice flat screen TVs and a play station. Great variety of pistols and rifles to rent. Even full automatics. The range hosts classes taught by the L5 tactical group. Highly recommend them for top notch instruction both in the classroom and live fire on the range. Cant say enough positive things about this place!

Service is like no other shooting range in the area. First time shooters are welcomed with open arms. The quality of the staff is amazing. They don’t make you feel bad if your not an expert with guns. I live 2 mins from a shooting range that has horrible service, and I make the 45 min drive this range because of the service.

My friend and I went there for the first time over a holiday weekend. It must have been everyone elses idea too. The place was packed 5 minutes after we got there.We were kind of lost not knowing the process how they set up for machine gun time and due to the super heavy store traffic that day, we were accidentally forgotten about. When we brought this to the attention of the great folks at the counter, they immediately made things right. We were put into the class educating us on the procedures used to keep everyone safe and having fun with full auto weapons.These folks are all business when it comes to safety. They were also extremely knowledgeable about the weapons we would be using and imparted that knowledge to us before we ever started.All in all, AN ABSOLUTE BLAST to do! Great people and GREAT fun! If you only do it once in your lifetime youll be glad you did. I CANT wait to get my chance to get back there to do it again!

What I love about this place is the staff. On our first time here they taught us how to properly hold, load and shoot a gun. They would even tell you the differences in their gun collection. They would answer all our questions and they would even tell us additional information about their guns. Ive gone to many ranges along the entire east coast. This range is the most enjoyable time Ive had at any of them. This range is how everyone should operate their range. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. They care about your interests and will make sure that you are being safe and fun. They treat you like a friend and I highly recommend this place. You do not have to be a gun enthusiast to shoot here and have fun. Bottom line, great people, great place, and great fun. I will continue to visit this place and it is worth waiting. Other gun ranges should take notes.

I just had an absolutely awesome experience here! I highly recommend this gun range. Chis and his cohorts were full of knowledge. I told him I never shot an semi-auto hand gun before and he spent at least 30 minutes with me one on one going over the basics of the gun and shooting stance and grip. Chris was very professional and had no problem helping me and most importantly making sure I felt comfortable with a large caliber hand gun. They were extremely busy but very efficient and they helped everyone and kept a great attitude being so busy. After shooting I like the gun and felt so welcomed by the outstanding customer service I told him I was ready to buy the same model. Again can’t say enough good thing about this place it’s a bit of a drive from where I live but definitely worth the 45 minutes. If you go make sure you ask for Chris he was a pleasure to work with.

It come with 2 pair of ear and eye protectors, 1 hour of admissions for two, one rifle, 4 boxes of 9mm ammo and two shooting sheets.It’s my first time doing shooting range and staff are super professional and informative.First thing first, they directed me to watch a safety short video, then sign the “new shooter waiver “. After that you get to choose what gun you are interested to shoot with, as soon as you chose one, the staff will instruct you STEP BY STEP on how to properly use it. ( shooting range, load bullets, hold the gun, aiming and body positioning)You will need to make the same position right after the staff demonstrated to you, and if you make any mistake the staff will correct you.Once you are confident enough, you can walk into the shooting range room. A safety officer and assistant are inside already. So very easy to find help.* Must wear closed toe shoes.* Bring you ID* Does not take reservation, first come first serve.* They welcome you to take picture inside the shooting range room.* They offer D-lead soap for you to wash your hand and face after you finish shooting.* The 1 hour admission start when you go inside the shooting room. So you do have plenty of time to shoot.* One box of 9mm rifle ammo have 20 bullets.* Shared the rifle and shooting lane with my friend. You could choose to have your own if you want. But always a good idea to watch you friend and take picture of each other.

I went today alone and this was my third range experience. The place was very welcoming and neat. I was assisted initially by Ryan who educated me on gun types especially since I’m a lefty. When I got in the back James took over and assisted with a better shooting style which gave me confidence removing my nervousness. Was an overall wonderful experience and I can’t wait to go back!

The guy behind the counter let me hold many different handguns, talking about them all the while, and on the range an RSO helped me resolve issues I was having running my AR for the first time. He was very persistent in helping me troubleshoot and identify the source of the problem, and did not condescend or make me feel bad about it. Rentals are affordable and the selection is great. The facilities are clean and attractive. A+ experience! A great place for new shooters like me to learn the ropes.

Let me start off by saying I have loved this place since it opened and was a regular customer before I moved away. I received a gift certificate for the browning 1919 and through scheduling and the gun being out for service, it took me 2 years to finally get a chance to come in and shoot it.I came with 3 buddies and we ended up renting the browning with 4 belts of ammo and also the Barrett with 20 rounds. We started with the browning and we were pretty dissatisfied with the fact that the gun kept jamming almost every 3rd shot and also started slam firing when we would re-rack the gun. Multiple people who worked there came over to try and fix, clear, oil it etc. but it kept doing it. From our estimation and videos we took (we filmed all 4 belts being shot) we lost about 20-30 rounds just from having to re-rack the gun. I didn’t tag TMGN on social media because the gun performed so poorly and it was embarrassing.Then an older guy who worked there finally came to see the problem and said to the younger employee and us, that the belt fed ammunition was packed improperly and that’s why we were having so many issues and that it also needed grease.We finally got through our 4 belts of ammo, in a painstakingly slow method of re-racking, slam firing and taking the gun apart and they brought out the Barrett.This gun was a dream to shoot, had lots of raw power and really made our evening. After shooting the gun, the young employee (long hair guy with a nose ring, who had zero customer service skills) picks the rifle up and starts walking away from us quickly. We yelled (were in the range where it’s loud) to stop real quick so we can see the rifle up close, take a photo with it as a group and hold it so, “ I can see how heavy it is”. He turned to us and said, “actually you can’t hold it”. The Asian RSO (who was super cool), said to the kid “are you serious, you won’t let them hold it or take a photo with it?”. The kid said something we couldn’t hear and then we just left and tanked the RSO.For spending the amount of money we did, and TMGN pushing for social media tagging when people shoot there and their guns, it was pretty pathetic we could hold it or even take a group photo with it and to hear that the belt fed ammo was improperly packed is sad. Their was no, hey sorry we packed the ammo wrong or let me give you guys a second belt that works.We left and that was that. Pretty sad. I have never had this experience with anyone there before and the long haired kid should be given some customer relations training.

Mixed bag of feelings from last range trip. Was muzzled twice in a row by another patron. Both the RSO and I were muzzled by the same shooter. This was with a hot pistol, finger on the trigger. I was really surprised the second time the RSO did not remove the shooter from the range. This is how deadly mistakes occur. I was shooting with a friend and I was standing behind him when this occured. The shooter shot and turned fully around. After this I stayed in an empty lane that was under repair. Maybe there needs to be more education here with patrons and RSOs? Either way I felt my outing here may be my last, my safety is more important. Also the price has gone up considerably since opening.

I love this range! The place is bright, nice and clean. The ventilation system on the firing lanes is top of the line. Imagine outside air while shooting indoor. Up until a couple days ago I loved this range I would shoot there all the time I even put your logos on my truck but after my experience Tuesday May 14th 2019 the logos are coming off and I’ll never step foot inside again. As a business owner myself your staff needs an adjustment

Went there on my birthday, Im from New York with stricter laws, no full auto. The staff was great. Selection was pretty nice, rented out assortment of sub machine guns, assault riffle, and the Barrett m82.Had a blast shooting them.The only downside, the price. Wasnt cheap by any means, but was worth the experience.Would come back again to try the one I wanted to try, but was out of service.

Went here with about 7 people for my brothers 30th birthday. We had a lot of fun and the guys working there were all very friendly and helpful. My brother really enjoyed getting to shoot the machine gun and getting the free shirt to remember the experience! My other brother mentioned that he liked this shooting range much better than others like Gilberts.

Liability waiver was bit of a hassle, but the overall experience wasn’t bad. This place was open when Heritage was closed for private lessons. The Asian manager there was awesome, he understands customer mindset and was able to offer incentives to join membership. Commended.

I brought my friend here from out of town to let him have his first full auto experience and I sighted in my new AR.The place is very new and clean. This is a really good indoor range. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. Matt certainly goes out of his way to make people feel welcome. I have been a member for over a year and have had good experiences with wait times, professionalism, and shooting advice. As far a appearance goes this place is a good balance of modern but not over done.I can understand the frustration with the 100 dollar fine when hitting the target holder. Fortunately I have not (yet) and do not plan to. My target is kept between 3-7 yards and I try to be extra careful.One of the biggest pros is how this company is sharing firearms education with the community of Frederick. I dont usually leave reviews but this place was top class. We went there for our friends birthday. Bob at the front desk was very pleasant to deal with. He went over everything... built our confidence as first time shooters before we went inside. Wayne the instructor was excellent! Knowledgeable staff. They were both part of this amazing experience! Great experience! Bob helped us with everything, he was very personable, patient, and knowledgeable. Great staff, fun environment. Everyone who worked there assisted us and other shooters even invited us to shoot their guns. Have to get the bucket list shirt!

Nice range. Friendly staff. Reasonable rates for station rental. Ive never rented their guns but my friends have and they say its reasonable as well. I always bring my own Guns and ammo.

This was my first time at a shooting range. I had such a good time. The staff members Mike (Country) and Quinn were so patient and they made me feel very comfortable. They were both well-educated about guns. They helped us out a lot. The entire staff was friendly and the place was really clean. This is definitely my new hobby. I cant wait to go back! Country and Quinn made my first experience at a shooting range very memorable. Thanks again!

Hands down my favorite range. I usually dont like going to public ranges in general because of the negative energy and British Bureaucracy from range officers who still have loyalties to the Queen like at, lets say, Heritage. The Machine Gun Nest is exceptional in customer service and always has friendly, positive attitudes when enforcing common sense gun safety rules.

My dad had been ranting and raving about this place and the people that work there! Ive been wanting to buy a gun, shoot and become more comfortable with owning a gun, so while I was in town my dad and I went to shoot! 1. The place is very clean and very nice! 2. Every single person that works there was so friendly and despite the crowds (day after thanksgiving crowd) they each took time to help, correct and advise me during my time there! I really cannot say enough about how impressed I was with literally every aspect of this place and its people. My dad and I are already talking about going the next time Im in town to visit again! Keep up the great work guys!

Best range in the Montgomery County area. Well worth the drive. Extremely helpful and professional staff. Super clean. Bring your own (commercial) ammo.

Place is awesome! Very efficient, technologically advanced, employees are super friendly and helpful. My fiance and Id new favorite range. 45 minutes away and Id rather spend the gas to be more comfortable while practicing and trying out newly built fire arms!

Traveled all the way here from halfway across the world and the biggest disappointment. They overcharge you for their machine guns and then the machine gun malfunctions and doesnt even fire full automatic properly. Faulty bad quality machine gun. Didnt receive any compensation either when I asked for one. If you want a good full auto machine gun experience, dont go here. And its not really full auto anyway, if you go full auto and damage the range then you have to pay $100+ for damages. Better place is to fire machine gun in the Las Vegas desert where you can really go full auto without worrying about damaging anything. Overall bad experience and heart break and will not be returning to this place next time we visit USA.In response to the owners reply below - well you better start training your staff better then, since obviously they dont know about the machine gun upgrade when the current one malfunctions. They simply dismissed the fact that the machine gun malfunctioned and jammed, taking away the full auto experience. If not $100 fine, then how much? Either youre lying here to make your shop look good, or your staff was lying to us at the range to avoid doing any unrewadred fix ups if we did cause any damage. I visited you guys with my girlfriend in early January this year during our usa trip. We dont even live here so not sure how you would be able to fix this terrible experience for us.

I had never shot a gun before I went to the machine gun nest. I decided to finally go based on a recommendation of a close friend and now Im a part of the MGNs ladies club! Ive even shot an AR-15! Every single staff member Ive come in contact with here are hugely knowledgeable, personable, and very approachable. All of my previous fears about firearms and shooting have completely disappeared. Hailey, Stephanie, Matt and Dalton are huge standouts to me, but honestly everyone that works here is outstanding!

The whole thing was a great experience. It was my girls first time shooting and she couldnt have had more fun and been in better hands. The staff is excellent and was one of the reasons it was a great experience. We will definitely be back.
