I don’t normally leave reviews, but this is one of the best ranges I have visited in the DMV area... The staff is cool, and very nice even when you need help. I highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a good range.

My business did a team building class at Heritage and had a great time! Their approach to firearms education over just being another gun range (not that theres anything wrong with that) is pretty huge to me. The facility is top notch, the staff is friendly and professional, and the instructors are approachable and knowledgeable. We will be back!!

I have recently completed 5 training courses at the Heritage Training and Shooting Center. This is a very professional training center, the front desk staff keeps you updated about the training schedule with courtesy, The instructors are very professional and will help you complete your documents and applications after completing the course.My 2 day training course with Brandon was exceptional. Brandon is very professional, very detailed with an amazing knowledge. The class environment was very rich with information and interaction as Brandon makes it easy to interact and ask questions. Training at the range was extremely professional in a high level of safety. Brandon has amazing instructor and range skills from start to finish. the Heritage Training Center experience is remarkable to say the least. I am a member now and thanks to everyone for their professionalism.

Without a doubt the best gun range Ive ever been to in my life. The staff are extremely professional and well mannered. I normally rent a handgun when I go which will run me about $80 or so as I still need to take my HQL class to bring my own handgun. Seeing as I only go from time to time its well worth it and Ive never had a bad experience with any aspect of the facility. If you live around the area and want to shoot this is 100% the place you should go.

Took the MD HQL Training with Suzanne Floyd as our instructor. Worth every single penny, from the virtual training room, to the range time to the extensive knowledge displayed by the proctor, it was a phenomenal experience. If you are looking into any Training, go here first. I cannot speak to the sales staff as I only interacted with the instructors but I would be stunned if the professionalism exhibited by Suzanne is not indicative of the the employee quality as a whole.

Prices are much higher than other stores. Nice facility but you don’t get personalized service.I wanted to do a FFL. The guy I talked to asked how many guns I have bought from them. I said none and now they won’t do a FFL. I guess because I don’t spend enough money with them they won’t do my FFL. He even told try the gun shop I bought my other guns from. Wow!Keep in mind my wife and I got our HQL with them. In class they said they do them.Seems like sales is more important than I’m helping their customers. They blamed Covid yet they will of course sell you one they have, range is open, training is happening.So I went downs the street and went to Machine Gun Nest (much better customer service and they helped me) and then I spent $7k. See, this is what happens Heritage.Sales over customer service. Not going back. You really don’t know how to treat your customers.

Brandon was an excellent instructor! I was very comfortable with the training and believe I received more than my moneys worth. The facility is nicely done and well run. Safety was of the utmost importance.

Amazing range with in house gun shop. Professional staff that is very knowledgeable on all firearms. Safety here is top notch.They onlything i hate when coming here is the hounds that hover over you as you try to shoot. They make me extremely uncomfortable and it also distracts me from focusing on shooting accurately.

A wonderful and safe experience in a class A facilityBrandon and the Heritage Training and Shooting Center team did a great job hosting our office staff of four women and two men for a class and shooting session on basic handgun use. The emphasis was on safety, there was no rush, no “gun guys” attitude - just a very knowledgable and patient instructor who answered questions and gave clear personalized attention to the crew. 2 of the 6 had never shot before, and the others had varying experience. Everybody came away with new knowledge, skills and confidence and everyone loved the experience, the facilities and the professional staff through out. Way to go, HTSC team!! I regularly visit this place to purchase ammo. Yesterday, I went in to buy ammo and to purchase a handgun.First of all the gentlemen, long hair guy, white shirts, didn’t look happy to seem walking. There was nobody in the retail area. The guy was sitting behind the counter seemingly busy.He obviously looked annoyed ask if I needed help . I asked him a question about ammo for my shotgun, he replied in short manner, he do not tried to look for clarification from my part. He didn’t seem to care. I kinda taken back, I probably should have grabbed my ammo and left.No in fact, I decided to shop for a new handgun. I asked to see a pistol, he stood behind the counter handed me the handgun and did not say a word. It was n’y the first time I was buying a gun and typically people there are eager to ask question and find out your needs.I then realized I wasn’t welcome.I don’t know why I just didn’t walk out of the store.I completed my purchase without issue and left.Heritage is the place where I received my first handgun training, fired my first pistol and purchased my first firearm.Unfortunately, the way I feel about the place today because of this experience, has me weighing wether I’ll ever return to Heritage.At the very least It’ll be a while.

Great place for a professional event! Staff goes above and beyond to make sure every detail is handled with care. Facility is spacious and clean, great first impression as you walk in the door. RSOs are serious when they need to be but made sure everyone was laughing and having fun while being safe. Great environment to build professional relationships in a different atmosphere. I’m sure we’ll be going back!

I gave this shop a try after a friend referred me to the training course for hql in Md. The instructor was fantastic and I feel that I got my money back in what was taught.

I took the HQL a few months ago, but time passed, and I needed additional training to reinforce what I had learned and so I signed for private training. Today, I trained with Brandon D. He was knowledgeable and thorough and I left with a much better understanding of the 9mm and a comfort level so that I can walk in and practice on my own. I highly recommend him to anyone who might need some additional training.

Retail side is staffed by people who are actually friendly and helpful. Prices are pretty good, maybe a little more than other places. But Im willing to pay a little more to not have to deal with some mouth breather salesmen who is annoyed that Im in their shop to give them money **cough** Gun center **cough**.Range is nice and clean/safe. Membership imo is pretty expensive.

Only one criticism- one receptionist took exception to me putting my shooting bag on the desk and asked me to put it on tje floor if a gun was in it. If you are that nervous about guns and your clientele, why are you working at a gun range?

Pros: clean, neat, air system, can rent firearms, buy ammo, use your own factory ammo (Im pretty sure), reasonable transfer fee, nice selection of firearms, unassuming staff, routine specialsCons: kind of far out if you live the city, limited to 25 yards (as far out as it is, I would have thought it could go to 50 yards)Side note: Very particular about their 1hr limit. Im not sure that Ive been to a place that timed me down to the minute when there was literally no one else in the range but me. Thats the only thing I can say. Im sure management is happy about that though. It makes sense from a biz perspective if you can have every penny per hour accounted for. It is pretty far from me, and all of the ranges I could go to are about the same driving time to get to. So I just go to one that isnt as interested in me spending an hour or less there and picked one that seems more interested in me coming back over and over again. I still give it four stars though, as my only real gripe is that the range is not long enough for what I like to do.

This is a great place to shoot. VERY clean and maintained. The staff is friendly and make you feel at ease when shooting. AND the lighting is perfect. You even have extra lighting on the target holder if you still want it brighter. The only fault I have found is they dont allow children and holster draw shooting

I travel about an hour and 15 minutes all the way from Fairfax Va just to use this range. I have yet to encounter the same staff member yet which makes it that much more amazing that everyone is so consistently knowledgeable and patient. The area is so clean and organized. It was my first time using my AR and the gentleman walked me through the steps and when I went to my lane I also encountered the same amount o patience and care with the lane officer in regards to my sights and accuracy and tips for shooting. I will continue to make thay drive just to be apart of this range and what they offer. Thank you so much for an enjoyable experience each time I visit.

We brought some guests to Heritage. Most of them are first time shooters and they had a great time. Laura and the staff are awesome and very helpful. They worked with us to meet the guests need. Definitely 5 star. Heritage will be our choice when we have more guests in the future.

A class act range and facility. Clean, well organized and excellent equipment. Unfortunately, like most ranges you cannot draw from a holster or shoot from cover to practice real world scenarios, but an EXCELLENT facility with quality staff, lots of rental options, allow you to use your own ammo with some restrictions.Only thing is I wish they would allow me to bring my minor children to help them learn and get better.Worth the 20 minute each way drive for me.

Came here while waiting on a window tinting. Everyone I interacted with was friendly, courteous, and knowledgeable. Prices are very reasonable, rental and range equipment is great. Highly recommended if youre looking for an indoor range.

I went in when The Machine Gun Nest was too crowded. The space felt like some kind of sci-fi movie set or a hospital, the staff behind the desk was adequate, new shooter briefing was adequate. Once you are passed the first door, the operation for selling targets and rentals takes too long to actually get assigned a lane, targets cost too much. Once you are into the range space, you and your gear are restricted to an approximately 3’x4.5’ box inside the lane dividers. This is marked with red tape, If you have a guest, their box is marked with yellow a few feet away. You are not to leave aforementioned boxes with out RSO escort.Range equipment was fine, too many buttons for a system that makes paper go forward and back.The whole experience adequate and restricted. You show up and you are given the bare minimum required to be considered a range trip. You pay market value for a range trip tailored to the least common denominator. If you are an experienced shooter don’t waste your time, if you just want to instagram that you went to a shooting range this is perfect.$10.00 for a five minute new shooter safety brief, which they are required to give for liability reasons, and a $.25 rfid card irritates me on principle.I walked through the store but do not have a valid opinion, didn’t truly shop. Training schedule looks good but cannot speak to that either.

A very great and friendly shooting range, when you first walk in you enter a beautiful lobby, greeted by a friendly person in the front desk. The staff and instructors are nice and great. Never did I feel uncomfortable shooting my AR-556. Also for people who are renting and buying ammunition, they have a good array to rent and ammunition prices are not to bad. Also complementary ear/eye protection is a great plus. The only problem was that me and my cousin had to wait over 30 mins for a instructors to give us our safety class. Because they said they forget about us.

Im very sceptical of a business that leaves negative reviews of their competitors via a secret shopper. I can assure you Hafers Gunsmithing has great staff that is friendly and professional. I love how you even added that you felt you were treated differently because youre a women, only problem is nearly half of Hafers staff are women. Also they cater a womens only class to promote womens involvements In shooting sports. I believe but dont quote me on this, they sponcer a women 3 gun competitor. This is bad business to send a staff member to other local gunshops to pose as a bias secret shopper. I will not be visiting your establishment ever.

Great place to go shooting. When you first walk into their enormous lobby, you wonder if youre in the right place. Dont worry, you are. Everyone there is exceptional, theyve got customer service in the bag. The facility is spotless, the range is high-tech, and their gun store has all the rental guns and anything else youd want. If not, theyll get it for you. They also have classes for anyone that wants to get their HQL or learn about gun safety and operation. Truly one of the best ranges in MD.

Nice, clean place and open early, which I like. Its kind of out of the way though, the traffic on 85 going south off of I-70 can be tough, especially on the weekends. Staff is very friendly and helpful, although the turnover rate seems to be very high for some reason. Also, its more expensive than the other range in Frederick.

Easy registration and orientation for 1st timers. Extremely nice, high class facility. Lanes are automated with unlimited targets. Range officers are knowledgeable, professional, courteous and not intimidating. The exterior and lobby area are not what you would expect for a shooting range.

The place was clean, people were very friendly. The staff was very knowledgeable about guns and the laws. Mrs Suzy Floyd was a great instructor for the HQL licensing. You can tell she loves what she does because it showed in her teaching. Now that I have my HQL I will do a little shopping there.

Extremely overpriced. Costs 90 for 3 people, as they charge you for just walking in. I wish I could return my membership card for a safety course, which covered nothing unknown except to enforce fear of firearms to new people. As an active duty, combat trained witj several weapons platforms, there should be an exemption, or even discount for military, active or retirees. Process was not explained by front desk personnel either upon paperwork in regards to further costs after membership card. Its more for the urban professional who is afraid of weapons. As the trainer explained most of our customers are new to firearms and get nervous quickly.

Not many places compel me to put in the time to type out a review, but this place is one of them. The facilities are very clean, the staff is very knowledgeable and courteous, the prices are excellent - I especially appreciated that they price ammo at market value. Some of the range rules are a bit stricter than Im used to, but the staff were polite both in explaining why and making sure people followed them. I will definitely be going back and its really worth the extra time up 270 from MoCo, in my opinion.

Awesome Facility, I am an honorably discharged US Soldier. I have visited a great many of facilities honing my skills. This facility even though it is new the way the staff here treats the facility as if it was their own is outstanding. The staff will go out of their way to talk to you and make you feel like you are part of them. while 25 yards is the most you can get out of target distance if using a long gun. but if you know your BDC than you can sight in your long guns.

Best shooting range in the area!! I have been to most of the shooting ranges surrounding Montgomery county, the farthest being Elite in Manassas. The staff, the building, the range itself are all first class in here. It was my first visit today and from this day on, this is my go to shooting range.

The staff are very professional, direction and rule explaination concise. The clean, sound proof facility is awsome. The atrium is open space, relaxing. The range areas are clean, each booth has ample space, target placement touch screen panel has options for different shooting levels for operation.

I am not usually a review writer, but Heritage deserves my accolades. Went there yesterday with my two daughters, age 19 and 22 to do pistol target shooting. From walking in the front door to leaving, everyone was extremely friendly, professional and helpful. The shooting booths are generously wide (guessing 42) such that you dont feel cramped and there was plenty of room in the observation box immediately behind the shooting box for me to oversee both daughters at once. The facilities are top notch, with very clean restrooms, a lounge area, rental area and well organized targets (included in price). We had gone to On Target in the past, which is a little less expensive, but overall Heritage was much better experience. And much less expensive than Gilberts, which (over)charges for everything and requires purchasing their (expensive) ammo even for use in your own guns. We collectively gave Heritage 6 thumbs up when we left and look forward to going back.

Heritage is the ideal place to shoot for both inexperienced and advanced shooters! Its so nice to finally have a safe, comfortable place to shoot close to home -- and this place is IMPRESSIVE from the moment you walk in. Ive often times felt uncomfortable at other ranges and gun shops, since I dont have a lot of shooting/buying experience -- it is the complete opposite at Heritage. The staff is welcoming and friendly to people of all skill levels, and, especially as a female shooter, it was very refreshing to be treated with such respect. I even learned some new tips from the range safety officer! Plus they have great prices on firearms (and ammo!!) for purchase and rent. My husband and I will definitely be regular customers!

Typically, I dont bother to leave reviews, but I cant not leave one after the amazing time I had today. The front-end is beautiful - just look through the interior pictures that come up- but even more importantly, the staff is great. From the front-end personnel that quickly got my date and I registered, ( due to us being first timers at this facility) to the personnel manning the Rental counter, and all the way on to the RSO on the Firing Lane. Every single one of them gave me my moneys worth in terms of customer service, and knowledge. And honestly, it doesnt surprise me since Im happy to report that many of the employees are former military ( Army, USMC, etc.) and their collective attention to detail and expertise came through in every aspect of my interaction with them. And that is what,essentially, elevated my experience to a 5/5.Also: big shout out to my kick-ass RSO, Jason and to Dane ( hope I got the spelling right) who resolved a minor issue that cropped up. Phenomenal customer service right there- but again, Im not surprised, they are retired USMC, professionalism like that is only to be expected.

It was cool as usual. Front desk was awesome. My man distributing the weapons recognized me from past visits. The range master that was on shift cracked jokes with us and encouraged my wife. Would have rated a 5 but the next range master was kind of a dick. Too aggressive, unrelatable and made my wife uncomfortable...with a weapon in her hand! We both lost the desire to fire anymore(this was our first date night months). And what professional puts their gun in their waist band like a wannabe thug. Get a damn holster jerk!

Absolutely worthless, totally incompetent. One star rating is one too many. We attempted to use heritage shooting Academy for fingerprinting purposes for Professional licensing, background checks etc. Over the course of three months my wife and I made four separate trips to Heritage Academy in attempts to have this fairly straightforward process completed. They managed to screw this process up in every way possible. Despite numerous attempts to have it corrected we finally had to give up, forfeit the money and all the wasted time and use another service. Buyer beware, steer clear of this place for any finger printing services.

After reading reviews for other gun ranges in the Rockville area and not being impressed, I came across this place. Being it was going to be a date night, I wanted to find a place that wasnt intimidating or uncomfortable for a girls first time shooting. Heritage, was leaps and bounds better than any place I have ever been. My date even told the general manager I was nervous and a little intimidated by the idea but, the staff and atmosphere quickly took care of that.As we were told, Heritage is no ordinary shooting range. It is a place designed for women to be comfortable no matter what skill level. From a mens perspective its the Taj Mahal of ranges to shoot at. Prices are far more reasonable than you could ever expect. $25 range fee (little high but worth it), $15 and up rentals (my Beretta Storm Carbide was $25....WORTH IT), and ammo was honestly the same as what I would pay at Wal-Mart.Service. Service. Service. People are what make a business and Heritage got it right. My date felt comfortable, confident, and secure with the staff. At no point was there a feeling of intimidation or lack of help. The staff was also polite and considerate of our skills levels.We had a great time and would also like to thank the staff for being incredibly professional as well as helpful with our experience. We for sure will be back for another session of shooting!!!!!!!!
