$9 admission. Plan on 30 minutes, 45 if you watch the 12 minute video of employees talking about why they work for American. Theres also American Airlines uniforms, pins, place settings, and videos of employees talking about why they like the company. A display case for awards given to American Airlines founder, and scale model (5 foot+-) planes hanging from the ceiling. The only... ONLY neat thing is the 1940 Douglas DC-3. If you read every word on every sign (how they donate to the needy, provide scholarships to women & minorities, etc.), you MAY be able to spend 2 hours. Save your money. Its basically what you would see at the headquarters of any large company, but here you have to pay $9 to see it.
Truly a fantastic museum, great, well kept up collection which details the history of both American Airlines and aviation as a whole. Lots to see and very friendly and passionate staff to answer any questions. Particularly enjoyed the full sized theater fit with plane seats. Also has a very well stocked gift shop with tons of American Airlines / Aviation memorabilia.Very much looking forward to visiting the museum again once it reopens following COVID-19!
Getting to board the DC-3 aircraft was one of the best parts of this museum! Additionally, some of the written copy and photos on the walls were cool, including the Miracle on the Hudson wall.Honestly, I was pretty disappointed with the video that plays every 30 minutes. I was hoping for some AA history, but instead it was just stories from their employees. I think that should be updated.Lastly, they had a great gift shop with all the AA swag and apparel you could wish for.
Very impressive museum for American Airlines fans! You can see many memorabilia of American Airlines and you can learn the history of AA. Seats of movie theater are used domestic first class seat! One of this museums highlights is Flagship Knoxville Douglas DC-3. You can enter the plane and can sit down the seat.Museum gift shop is also interesting. You will get many kinds of goods of American Airlines! It is difficult to get there for traveler. If you dont use rent-a-car, you need to use taxi, Uber and cost $15 from terminal.
This place is worth the $9 admission to learn about the American Airlines’ history and if you are an aviation enthusiast. They have a fully restored 1940 DC-3 that you can actually walk in, sit and touch! There are a few interactive things to participate in such as the IOC, baggage handling, and a cockpit that you can sit in. When you are ready for a rest, catch a short movie in first class seating in the theater. You won’t be disappointed in this place. Also, check out the gift shop!
What a great museum! My daughter loved it! There are really cool interactive exhibits here. We loved being able to go into the plane, sit in the cockpit, make decisions in the command center, learn to load luggage with the correct balance, and design our own plane among other fun activities. My only complaint and the only reason I knocked off a star is the staff there the day I went. They weren’t particularly friendly, helpful or enthusiastic. You definitely need more personable personnel.
I have been here ever since I was 5, and only recently they renovated it. This museum is paradise for aircraft lovers. Some things in this museum are: a DC-3 aircraft that you can go inside of, an interactive weather game, an interactive cockpit and so much more. I LOVE this place!!!
This place is awesome. Really informative and lots of retro aviation gear to look at. Definitely fun for all ages.
This is an incredible museum. Super glad we came!
Great mueseum!
A beautiful museum and a nice venue for an event.
I was up here for new hire ramp training. It was my last day in town so I couldnt come in during regular hours. My father has been working for American for many years. The desk clerk (Minnie) heard my story and she was so nice; she even let me stay a little longer to experience a few things the Museum has to offer despite shutting down for the day. I am so proud that I get to work for an airline like this that offers wonderful customer service to not just their customers but also their employees. My experiences this week have made a lasting impression on me. :D (Disclaimer: the opinions made in this post do not represent American Airlines and/or any of its subsidiaries. If your interested in aviation, this is a great museum. It isnt huge, however it does have a lot to look at. They do change up what is on display every few months, and it is a great place to bring the kiddos.
We had a great time at the CR Smith Museum today.Small but very educational and fun for the grand kids.Great gift shop.
Best for a half a trip, very friendly staffs, movie theater, big blue blocks, several live experience, AA store & others. No foods in side, so plan accordingly.
Intended to visit, but when we arrived ALL of the designated museum parking spots were blocked off, and no other free parking was available. I’m not going to be forced to pay for parking when they intentionally block off dozens of designated spaces.
Very cool museum about the history of American Airlines and the development of commercial air travel. The theater has aircraft leather seats. Lots of interactive displays that are fun for kids and a vintage DC-3 you can walk into.
Great interactive airplane museum for kids. It didnt go into history as much for the adults, but still a nice museum.
I went here when I was 12 with my dad and there is a whole lot of entertaining stuff to such as going inside of a commercial dc-10 and a flight simulator as well as lots of exhibits. And a lot of stuff to read about history which now I appreciate. But when I was 12 I read nothing, but what 12 year old would. But now when I go back I enjoy it more because I read and see everything. Great place and any cool souvenir for anyone who likes aviation such as myself
Nice fun museum
After a video show of happy AA enployees, there were model airplanes hanging from the ceiling and old AA uniforms / parafilalia. Mostly geared for children. Costly for the commercial experience.
I went there and this place was huge there was a lot of walking to do inside the museum but it felt good to be inside with the air conditioning on because it was hot outside. love the museum store. but if you want to get in to the museum it will cost you $9 bucks unless if you are a senior citizen or museum member or active Military
Ive been here a few times. It used to be a free museum, but have been charging for admission for over 10 years now. Overall, theres quite a bit to see. They have a mini movie theater and some interactive things for kids. They have a full size older passenger plane, but it has a heavy stench inside. So glad that they built a structure to house the plane as it used to be outdoors. I wish there were more planes to enter. Kids will mostly enjoy this museum. Its well designed and clean.
Wonderful way to experience the history of aviation! They have a few beautiful exhibits from 9/11, including a flag that has some historical significance. Also, a very lengthy and informative collection from The Miracle on the Hudson. Definitely worth visiting!
This place was neat and fun! We took our 5 and 8 year old boys and they had a great time. Lots of history, interactive exhibits, very educational, and there is a full, old plane you can enter. Great, inexpensive family outing!
Amazing place to visit for American Airlines history. Great view of planes and different fleet to experience. Amazing staff.
I enjoyed this place. Pretty good.
Free admission and some really cool aviation history. Good stuff for kids. Full DC9 inside you can climb into. Great place for events too.
Great Airline Great museum!
Not good for field trips. Really small for the price, no place to have lunch. Rude staff asking when we were leaving every 5 minutes.
Always a great place to visit. The movie keeps you on the edge of your seat.
Very interesting museum, it features the history of aviation and it has lots of interesting things for people to do! I really recommend it if you have children or little ones that want to see how airplanes or engines!
Im an American Airlines employee and love the aviation history on display at the CR Smith Museum. Its not huge, so dont plan all day, but its definitely worth a stroll through.
Really neat place. Friend had a wedding here. Sweet museum/venue!
Fun place with lots of very interesting history about aviation. Definitely recommend checking it out of you like plains and aviation history!
As an aviation enthusiast this museum offer a lot of great sites to behold. The hangar is my favorite along with the gift show. Go! Its a must!
Good place about aviation and history about American Airlines. And you can visit very quick
My son loved it ! Very interesting and affordable, and the gift shop is awesome!!!! Very cool . Highly recommend
Its a cool place to go, but I think its expensive for anyone who has to pay full price. The gift shop is pretty cool though!
Its interesting and has alot of information about the aviation industry. Great place to take children
AA really did a great job with this museum. No one else has anything like it and Ive been to several airline hq.
Fantastic museum and very interesting with cute exhibits and great information both about American Airlines and the history of flight itself.
Perfect size, great exhibits, loved the Flagship our two year old had a blast.
Wonderful place for aviation enthusiasts to learn about the history of American Airlines and passenger travel overall. From the stunning DC-3 to a ton of newer and older exhibits, this place is a must go for any #AVGeek in the Metroplex
A must-see for any aviation enthusiast. The DC-3 alone is well worth the trip.
Dont miss it ! Wonderful history of American Airlines! Bling Blinky of TEXAS SHOUT OUT - This place rocks!
This is a nice museum and had so much info about american airlines. Actually has an old plane that you can go seat in.
Good place for kids. Went for a work event. I dont have kids so it was so so.
Nice place for a bit of aviation history. very inspiring movie
Very cool for my 12 year old who could land all Airbus Boeing and bombardier aircraft
Cool spot, learned a lot about American Airlines. Great for kids.
E&I. Fun
The American Airlines Museum is a really cool museum in Texas, United States because it shows the history of the different planes of american Airlines.
Almost 1/2 of the exhibits were closed or broken. Many of the listening stations did not work. It was interesting to see some of this stuff but frustrating not to be able to learn more about it
Amazing insight into AAs amazing history
Excellent experience, for those who work and live for aviation and for general public.
Good history of American Airlines! Nice giftshop
What a great museum. Clean, fun, not to big.
Great museum, affordable with great models and retired aircraft from the 40s.
Awesome museum! So much history and the gift store is huge!
Always new, interesting, and fun exhibits for the entire family to enjoy.
Interesting place but needs more planes in display
Great displays and scavenger hunt!
Airline flight history museum. For anyone visiting DFW, This is a must see! You can tour an entire retro propeller commercial airline plane. See a 3D flight movie and much more!
Wonderful experience
Really cool aviation history information and interactive exhibits
Excellent place to view history of American airlines
Small museum as part of AAs marketing campaign, limited exhibitions (far from a flight museum). Admission should be free.
It was fun and i will go there again.
Awesome, great information on the history of AA, and a wonderful place to have a wedding
