Great Pokémon stops, lots to learn here read the plaques.
There is parking across the road. And a path along thecriver u nder the road to get to tbe fort.
Very nice Fort. Would love to come back while they are doing reenactments.
Very informative visit to the old fort. My family and I watched the blacksmith make nails, the tinsmith making bowls and we visited the bakery with an authentic brick oven. Highly recommend everyone get a chance to visit!
I was born here and really enjoyed seeing what the inside of the Fort looked like.
Amazing place to go and learn about local history. My 10 year old Son loves how interactive it is. Highly recommended for a local getaway.
I wish every city would go to the lengths that Fort Wayne does to preserve and remember its history. This fort is a great representation of that. History is not to be forgotten. Whether it is good or bad, we must remember it so we can learn from it to move forward. And a side note, the staff that I encountered at the fort were phenomenal. Very friendly.
You have to park on a side street and walk to visit.
Was a really nice place to visit. The only thing I didnt like was the amount of trash laying around and the graffiti. This place would be perfect if the park was a little more upkept like the fort area was.
Very cool place. Beautiful scenery very clean. Please keep it nice and clean up after yourself. Lots of history here
See the fort in “fort wayne.” Neat place to visit if you like history.
My grandson & I very much enjoyed our visit. The young man there was very informative & polite.
A really cool way to get a glimpse at Fort Waynes past. Its worth a visit if youre downtown. Its free too!
Landmark Review:This is a rare gem that is run by the park district of Fort Wayne. Located along the river is a replica of the fort as it existed in 1815. Although this is not at the original location, it aims to replicate the basic stockade and provide history about the way of life in the late 1700 to 1812. During normal operating hours, there maybe a few volunteers who can provide the history of the fort, however special days as listed on the website where there is re-enactments and demonstrations as well by volunteers. This is a free experience and you can give cash donations when you walk in or buy baked goods which help support the upkeep of the Fort. It is a great way to educate the kids and spend a few hour on the weekend. We even got to see the cannon fire at noon during our visit.
Went on a day it was closed and under construction during late March. Cool mock up of what was there once before.
Perfect for walking around and making memories !
Absolutely the coolest place Ive ever been! Of course, Im am a historical reenactor, so Im a little biased, but stop by and see Bob, and see how things were two hundred years ago AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME!!
No ticket needed
Very nice they were not open but a guy who works there told all about this place. So awesome
We have several HAM-radio based events there each year. Never fails. Great times, and we love the people that just stopped by because they noticed something going on. Top location to visit, folks !!
I love that its open to the public free of charge, although they do accept donations in a little drop box just as you walk into the fort.
I get a very spooky vide in there
Growing up here, this was literally just a set of buildings that no one cared about, but over the years, its become nicer and more active. If youve got a few hours on a Saturday, head down there and check it out.
Cool structures but everything was closed up, nothing for me to do there nor to learn about.
I stumbled upon this park and bridge quite by accident. Having twenty minutes to spare despite being on business, this park with its Historic Fort Wayne and MLK Memorial Bridge was worth a quiet and serene walk. Historic Fort Wayne is a rebuilt replica of the old Fort. It’s so well done that I actually thought the original had been restored/maintained. I would love to see it during an active time when they are doing reenactments or festivals. Right next door is the Martin Luther King Memorial Bridge. I know it’s only a bridge but it was a beautifully designed monument to a great man. Quotes line the railing all across the bridge. The entire experience was a pleasant surprise.
Volunteer run historical site. Interesting place to visit and learn about different time periods.
It is a very cool place, and my entire family was interested.
Somewhat hard to get to but worth the walk.
Its always great to stroll the grounds and see the various demonstrations. The baked treats are great, too.
Great to walk around because its all connected to the park.
Free and worth your time
Lots of neat stuff the kids had a great time and still talk about it
Great place to learn about the history of the area.
Back in the day it was fun and seemed to have more events. Walking through it now is depressing.
Nothing was open but we expected that. Ill be looking for when they have fort days for us to check them out
Love going here when they arent under construction. Which as of lately is normal for it.
I liked the fort but you have to cross a very busy street with no cross walk, off a blind corner where the cars fly coming around and no signal. In addition no ramp or wheel chair friendly entrance only a Four or five inch curb.öInteresting ReconstructionThis looks like a fort reconstruction that the City of Fort Wayne should be proud of. Unfortunately the fort is just there. There isnt any type of interpretation or exhibits to explain the fort and what its purpose was on the frontier. All of the buildings were closed and locked, as were the restrooms although the Fort was open. The water plant across the street provided much better interpretation on their purpose with attractive information panels explaining their operation and water conservation.
I really enjoyed seeing this place. The reenactments and the people and character were very good. The best part is that there is no admission charge. But if you go, be sure to donate some money since it is a non-profit and operates solely on the donations of visitors.
Not alot happening. Neat to see the old setup but 10 mins u seen it all.
Not worth visiting unless they have an event. All buildings are closed with very little information about the fort. Parking is across a very busy one way street
It is worth your time to interest with the reenactors.
Love the fact that Fort Wayne actually has a fort to show others when they visit our city, but it would definitely be a lot more of a historic landmark if it was actually built on the location of the original fort. Its really neat when they do reenactment weekends here (which they do on a somewhat regular basis when the weathers nice), and its attached to the River Greenway, which makes it a great stop for both walks and bike rides.
We used this as a planned rest stop on our way home from vacation. Its a historical site. We visited when they had reinactments, it was neat to see. People were friendly and we were asked a few time to visit again. Reinactments are not routine, it was simply by chance when we visited.
Took the grandkids so they could see how people lived. I would recommend school age kids a my two year old was more interested in playing in the stones. It was a neat experience.
I love everything about the old fort
Great historical preservation.
Full tour by costumed guide for no cost. But every building is locked and no interaction with the fort buildings.
Its American history. Youll love it if youre American, or hate it because youre a sjw crybaby.
Fun historical touristy place. It aint open often but when it is, it is well worth the walk.Check out Ft. Wayne tourist info
Great. Very educational.
Greg was cool for Korean display.
The re-enacting is awesome. The people are friendly and very patient; most of them are very willing to answer questions. There is almost no seating, so plan to bring a lawn chair or keep standing. There is enough to take up a couple hours at least, more if you look at everything. Small children will run out of things to do, though. Parking is a grass lot across a very busy street with no crosswalk, or a block or so away on a side street. The nearest porta-pots are quite a ways away. Bring your own water bottle. Theres a few handicrafts available but usually no food for purchase.
You will learn alot from here
Sad because we tried to get to the entrance and couldnt find it. All we could do was drive by
Excellent reactors excellent group of people teaching about our history
Braved the cold to see some reenacting today. Was not disappointed.
Really nice replica of Fort Wayne and great surrounding park. I just wish they staffed it with historical interpreters.
Our home away from home.
Presentation of payroll records from General MAD Anthony Wayne to Historic Fort Wayne!!
The Historic Old Fort in Fort Wayne is a replica of an original structure under the command of Major Whistler. Historic re-enactments happen at the Fort several weekends a year, usually on holidays. There were three forts in Fort Wayne, the last one being the citys name, and none of the three were at the location of the current replica. No way to get inside and no museum here, which really surprised me. However, there are biking trails all around and its great to visit because its usually completely empty. So you can have this big structure all to yourself for some amazing photos.
Great place, come every year
While on a bike ride on the River greenway.
A must go to learn more about history. The volunteers are dedicated
Educational as it is entertaining the Fort hosts a variety of events. The Fort is also great to just explore while roaming the river walk
Love goint to the Fort it is a great place to go for a walk or to explore. I definitely recomend a visit to this place to any history lovers.
I love the historic Old Fort I spend time with my children there every year
Very cool piece of history.
It is definitely worth visiting
Was closed, from the Outsider nice
Story telling about native Americans inaccurate. We came to America to steal their land, so they fought back. We committed genocide and democide on these innocent souls, what we did to them makes Hitler seem like a teddy bear. The new comers were savages, now the natives. Its time to tell the truth.
Fabulous. Their reenactments are wonderful, staff is amazing and well educated. All of it is volunteer work and the dedication they have and love shows.
Got to use it for Fort Wayne Radio Club, field day weekend it is really neat, it was also open for people just to look around.
Best time to visit is Fright Night and Tourist days
Awesome history! The people were very nice.
I hope they continue to keep it open its a great place for kids to learn and adults my son does reenactments there
Historical society reenactment was pretty cool
Unless there is an event scheduled, it will be closed.
I find it really sad that we celebrate this genocide this way. Im glad they removed the torture devices from the center. It would be lovely if they tore it down altogether and/or made a memorial mindfully in its place. Maybe just next door a replica of the thriving and diverse trade culture that existed before the fort was ordered there. It is nice to have re-enactments of history, but the re-enactments of the fort should include, apologetically, the extreme atrocities, the Trail of Death, and the disease and disorders the people in the fort were fraught with. Not just this fairy tail utopian society survivalist niceties. Maybe the niceties a couple times a year and the full story a couple times a year...sure, why not begin with allowing a couple different groups to tell it from their angle while we re-evaluate?The celebration of the fort makes me sad.
Very cool place and great area to play with your kids and let them run around.
Its kinda boring unless there is an event happening.
I bike through here all the time. Great place to relax and get a bit of Fort Wayne history.
You can learn a lot
Helping with ground work. Part. Of radio station set up.
Great place to catch Pokemon, well lit even at night.
Went here as a child and always enjoyed myself. Definite blast from the past!
Beautiful recreation of Anthony Waynes fort.
It very nice especially if ur not around ft.wayne
Great for the app. Pokemon Go. Not much to do but kinda cool to see.
Disappointingly no access, only during special events.
Nice place to go and play Pokemon Go.
