The museum offers a story through history beginning thousands of years ago through modern times. Plenty oy relics and antiques document the story. Well worth the cost of a visit.
Very interesting and helpful for research. Best collection and preservation of written material and period items of local historical value. The docents are very knowledgeable, know where to refer you if they dont have answers. Great place, well worth visiting. A lot to take in.
After visiting the small aquarium which was neat, but nothing special we were about to leave.Thank goodness we stuck around and paid the extra few dollars to go to the museum as well. There are multiple rooms and areas with so much history ranging from the Spanish visits to Florida to the Native Floridians to the early Fort Pierce and the growth of the area.It was really something special I feel like I would love to go again. At the beginning of the tour you are given an audio listening device that gives you information on each area that you are in at the time. The staff from the historical society who volunteer there have a wealth of knowledge and are very friendly and accommodating. You have to see it.
It was very interesting. Good for kids and adults
Such an awesome little museum! We enjoyed spending the day here, at the aquarium and walking around the park! We learned lots of interesting information here! The staff is so friendly and informative! Definitely go and see this museum!
One of the best Florida history center I have ever visited. The docents and staff were very knowledgeable and the Treasure Hunt for the kids engaged them more than expected. Excellent afternoon of fun and learning.
This was quite interesting. Learned a lot.
Very Educational About the treasure coast, from the past to the future.I enjoyed the tour very much
The people are very friendly in the museum was very interesting small but extremely inexpensive they were very kind 2 children
I could have spent hours here..... Never would have expected so much in such a small place!!
Excellent place to spend the day! I learned so much about our local history and its right on the river. Just beautiful.
Wonderful museum offering in depth insight to the local history including an entire pictoral display following individual families through multiple generations of living and working on the immediate region. This small museum easily becomes an enjoyable half day experience for even the only moderately interested audience.
Great place to learn about Florida history.
The St. Lucie County Regional History Center is located just across the bridge from Ft. Pierce on the north side of Seaway Drive. There is a small admission fee which also includes entry into the aquarium. The museum is one of the few places where you can get a feel for what life was like for the early Florida settler in the area. The county was primarily agriculture with citrus, pineapples, and cattle providing jobs and treasure for decades. If you are lucky, Mr. Gardner will be around to give you a tour of the home he grew up in which was relocated to the site from Ft. Pierce. There are pictures showing it crossing the bridge! My favorite exhibit is just inside the museum and shows the shipwrecks that gave rise to the Treasure Coast; in fact, a collection of gold coins was found in six feet of water as recently as last year and is valued at over $1million! If that doesnt give you an incentive to beach walk and swim, I dont know what will!I recommend giving the museum a visit for an afternoon: you will be pleased.
Really enjoyed this museum. Very well done and interesting.
We were vacationing and decided to visit the little aquarium next door. Did not even know this museum existed, but very glad we walked over. The exhibits are excellent and the volunteers were knowledgeable and interesting. We spent a couple hours here and could have stayed longer. Well worth the tiny admission fee.
I never quite expected the level of service that I received. What a fantastic experience! You finish the tour of the place feeling so at home with these workers!
History buff ... Local history very enjoyable.
Great history of the early days of the settlement in this area
Nicely done! Professional exhibits; welcoming and knowledgeable docents. Well worth a visit!
History done well. From Ais to Seminol indian, building Fort Pierce and the town Fort Pierce. Wonderful exibit, and very friendly, knowledgeable guides. In particular my sister, Ellen. ( Hi Ellen)
Outstanding hands-on experience of yesterday and today in Florida history.
Best museum tour EVER! Mr Gardner gave us a personal tour of the 1912 house he was born and raised in (until it was moved to this museum location). It was like going back in time. An unexpected treat and not to be missed.
Awesome little local gem. A must see!
