I love this place; its an adventure in and of its own to shop here. They have a mind-blowing selection too. I needed an obscure map for Southern Colorado on short notice--they were the only one in town who had it. I needed my camera serviced--they had an expert in the camera department. I needed some advice picking out backpacking gear, and they were very knowledgable in that department too. I also attended a free community presentation from an Arctic photographer and researcher at this location, and have rented cross country skis and snow shoes. They will give you local guide information (where the best trails are, road and snow conditions, etc) whether or not you are purchasing anything. They also offer animal dental cleanings on certain days, and have a knife sharpener. I take all my friends here for the experience when they visit. Maybe their prices arent the most competitive, but you make up for it with the expert knowledge, friendly staff, and incredible selection. Truly, I dont know where they find their products but they have a superior selection to Amazon--and good quality at that.

I used to see JAX as the place I would go for great outdoor equipment and excellent customer service... that was until I bought a bike from them. I thought I got a great deal until I rode it twice. The first time one of the crank arms almost fell off and the second time the suspension fork was sticking and had to be warranted. The bike and camping department staff were great! They were apologetic and even set me up with a loaner bike so I could still go riding. Then, what started out to be a two week repair become 8-10 weeks without my new bike. I talked with the bike department staff about exchanging or returning my bike and they were very understanding and helpful... but the JAX administration/management insisted that I pay a 10-15% restocking fee for a bike I rode twice. That may not sound like much but when you figure this is on a purchase that costs $1000, $2000 or $3000 that could add up to $150 to $450... for a bike that couldn’t even be ridden! I went ahead and returned the bike and paid the restocking fee. Luckily I found a better bike at a lower cost... but I will never darken JAX’s doorway again! Due to poor corporate level customer service you have lost one, and possibly more customers forever! I hope it was worth it for you!

Wonderful place for anything you can ever want for the outdoors, camping, hunting, fishing etc. Also they have a great kitchen and cooking section that includes a small candy area with affordable and delicious fudge and truffle selection.

Best outdoor store for all your outdoor needs. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful and I am always impressed at the amount of choices. They have anything from kids toys, hot sauce, hiking boots and sunglasses to camping gear and high quality clothing. Very highly recommended.

Always a great place for high quality household/kitchen supplies, camping gear, clothing, shoes, etc....seems like I find something new and awesome each time I go in, and I love that its local; theres always been a friend or two working there over the years.

Be aware that by shopping at any Jax store, you are supporting anti-law enforcement sentiment amounting to basic virtue signalling.. If a company makes the choice to publicly pull support from law enforcement in your local community, they are making a broader statement that they would rather not get behind those who would uphold the law and protect your families. They support the sentiment that it isnt popular right this moment to support your police and sheriffs department so they remove a product line.. They have made it clear they dont care that they lose your business..

Love this store and have been going there for over a decade it seems, but highly disappointed to hear that they removed the thin blue line police gear. We should be celebrating our police force and thankful for having them, not crusading against them. Not sure I will be going back now!

Its nice having a shooting range down the road to shoot bows. But the down side is they only really deal in Matthew, and our group shoots all sorts of brands. They were great at stepping back and saying they dont wanna tweek with the bow we needed fit for my boyfriend because they didnt have the experience with the brand. Itd be nice to see other/more gear in archery.

They have everything you could ever want in terms of outdoor gear. Its unbelievable! They many giant departments. I would give them 5 stars except for one thing that is really disturbing. In the hunting structure, there are photos on the wall of hunters and their kill, including trophy hunters with exotic animals including an ELEPHANT! I didnt even think that it was legal to kill an elephant, but I do know its not something to celebrate on the wall of a store. Shocking. You guys really need to take some of those down.

The absolute best place to find all your camping gear! Oh, they offer so many more goodies. Grills, great cooking equipment, outdoor clothing, climbing equipment, fishing equipment, etc.....

Great independent indoor/outdoor chain.Lots of items for household uses, clothing, barbecue supplies, firearms, sporting equipment and a great fishing department.Fishing and hunting licenses are sold and they have the best optics department Ive ever seen.Candy, sodas, canoeing items, shoes, outstanding hiking boots and socks for men, women, children and infants.They have everything youd ever need.Terrific service too.

Bought some boots here. Didnt know anything about boots but they were very knowledgeable about what I should get to fit my feet right. This place is great.

We will never set foot in these stores again. Spineless ownership pulling its support for law enforcement tells us everything we need to know. Funny part is, the excuse used for pulling law enforcement support products, is just that...an excuse and a lame one at that. Word is out. Hopefully the loss of support is enough to put this business out of business or at least have a profound effect on current business.

This Review is for the fishing department only.Just my opinion but you guys should probably give up on trying to sell live bait for the year. This is the 4th time I’ve bought minnows where they were too unhealthy to make it to the actual trip out.I bought 2 dozen large shiners and one of your new 5 gallon buckets last night before closing and they didn’t live even 12 hours. Atleast 20 of died overnight. They’ve been in the house, not too hot. I spent $20 on these minnows and I want and this time I want a refund.

If I could go lower than one star I would. Do to requiring your customers to wear masks which is unconstitutional and one of your customers making a rude comment, I will not be in the store again. Night alone you want out on a minimum I have $130 sale not to mention future sales that could total up in the thousands due to what Im looking to buy. I will order online from a different vendor you too they have it for the same cost and it will be shipped to my front door. Customer service is awful. I bought the wrong size superfeet insoles a couple of weeks ago (f wide instead of f regular). They were still in the box and never used (even had the receipt). It took about 15 minutes, and a store manager to make the simple exchange today. When I told them this would be a simple process at REI, they told me REI has good customer service because it’s a giant corporation. I left completely baffled. Needless to say, I’ll stick to REI (the evil giant corporation, with good customer service).

Bought a Reddington vice 6 wt. for 80 bucks off normal price. Great fishing selection and tons of flies. Customer service/friendliness in the fishing department is lacking, but overall a great place to pick up leaders, tippit, indicators, flies, etc.. Very nice gun department as well.

Jax is a very Colorado store. They have everything you need for outdoor adventures.

Jax does not support law enforcement, and they do not care if you shop elsewhere because of it. I will never support any of their businesses again, and neither will my department! Jax you are a huge disappointment! Stay out of politics and just run your damn business the way it used to be.

Lived here 30 years. Shopped Jax every one of them. Love (or loved) them. A little pricey but good service and good gear (if not great). Bought guns, boats, clothes and lots of shoes. Camping and cooking gear.Im a photo enthusiast and a gear head. Buy lots of photo stuff. Most from Jax. Last May bought a Tamron 150-600 zoom. $1400. Could have gotten cheaper on line but Im not thrilled with on line for everything. I wanted service and help and paid a little more for it from Jax. The lens never fit well for my Nikon d3s. Just couldnt get the sharp focus I wanted. Bought a d850 for Christmas and had to go online for it as I went to Jax but they didnt have new in box. this month took the lens back with my story. Its been used VERY little (like new) but struggles with focus. They said theyd take care of me but it would take a week for them to work with Tamron. So I bought the Nikon 200-500 floor model (its all they had again) for full price thinking Id get a full credit back on the Tamron once they blessed that.They called and wanted the Nikon 200-500 back and told me I had to take the Tamron back. I really dont know why or what happened.I love or better said loved the Nikon lens. Now I have a marginal Tamron $1400 lens and they have a slightly used Nikon 200-500 for sale in Loveland.This is why I bought local... this has been soooo disappointing. Why buy local now?April 2020 UPDATE: Jax contacted me to help. Appreciate that but it has gone nowhere and Ive not heard from them in three weeks or so after I reached out to them again. So theyre posted response to me really isnt to be taken too seriously.

Ive been going to Jax’s outdoor gear forseveral years, a wonderful retail store, they have most everything you want / need.Ice cream. coffee, candy, cooking spices, Clothing, shoes, cameras, kitchen items, patio furniture, grills, rifles, shotguns, handguns, hunting, archery, ( archery range), military surplus, fishing, sporting goods, camping, bikes (specialized, Jamis ) and others, bike repair, canoes, kayaks,probably the best selection of these items in Fort Collins, Colorado.If you can’t find it here you probably don’t need it.Friendly and courteous managers sales associates and staff.I love going to browse and purchase, a great place to spend a few hours.

Such a unique retail store! From household, to outdoors, with army surplus, hunting and fishing. Probably the best well priced full selection fishing shop in town. A little pricy for their outdoor clothing, yet you can find great deals at times.

Love this local outfitter. Went in to find work boots and they have a great selectio. Also hiking boots/shoes/sandles. Everything you need for outdoor fun and outdoor living. Also great classes on tie flying, and other outdoor activities. Kid friendly, dog friendly just nice folks that help you enjoy the outdoors!

My husband and I needed new boots. We were helped by Cole who answered all of our questions and helped us find exactly what we were looking for. The store was somewhat busy and Cole wasnt distracted. He assisted us until we found the right size and fit. Great customer service!

This used to be one of my favorite outdoor stores. Recently they have been lacking in customer service. My wife was going to buy a new pair of pants, They where marked at 73 dollars wit a 40% off clearance sticker. At the cash register they rang up at $85. The clerk called multiple managers who all said, well thats just the way it is. Bait and switch all around.

Ive had mostly good experiences here. Usually a better selection of items than REI in Fort Collins. However, REI has more and better sales than JAX. If you cant find something on sale / in stock at REI, go to JAX.Last week I had gone in on a Saturday to look for my girlfriend some nicer hiking boots than what she had then (Keens are garbage). She found a pair she really liked and fit well, but REI was having a sale for them online for $80 down from $140, but didnt have her size in stock, while JAX had them listed at full price and had her size in stock. I had asked the department manager Dianne (sp?) if we could get them price matched to REI. She said no, but that she could take 30% off of the retail price. We waited until the next weekend to take her up on her offer, but she wasnt there the following Saturday. I asked another employee in the department if we could get them marked down, and he said that he didnt think JAX marked off or price matched anything. What? I was frustrated from the mixed responses and about to go to REI, but I then asked another employee, Mike, who said that he would honor Diannes offer for 30% off. Nice!She bought them on the spot, and I ended up getting a patagonia rain jacket which would have ended up being a sale for REI had Mike not saved the day.It was a roller-coaster of emotions lmao, but overall Mike did an awesome job of saving a customer who would have otherwise avoided any future purchases from JAX. Good job my dude, you should get a raise.

They have all the gear. Could shop this place for hours. Locals who know the gear provide decent service.Cashiers are overworked having to man the phones and the front desk at the same time.They also accused me of stealing once. Luckily I had the receipt.Overall a mixed experience.

I research gear I want before I walk into a retail store and Im often let down by by the staff who know less about their merchandise than they should. Ive had a few amazing experiences at Jax with staff that are incredibly knowledgeable and willing to help in anyway they can. Im glad to support a store with such great people. Went to get my co2 tank refilled and had to buy a new one cause mine was over 5 years old but the guy that helped me was very friendly and helpful...

Very friendly staff. Regular priced items are high, but most sale items are priced great. Many items I found were half off. The store feels cramped, there is just too much in the store making it difficult to move around if any other customers are near you. Despite the cramped feeling, my experience was great and I was surprised at the deals I was able to find.

My biggest issue with Jax is they just have way, way too much awesome stuff!! I cannot stay away. I make a pilgrimage down to the store at least a couple times a month and almost always end up buying something, whether its a new piece of outdoor gear, clothing, cookware, or just a cup of coffee. Ive never had any problems with customer service and cannot say enough good things about the selection of products. I always try to support local businesses first, and this is simply an awesome local store. Between Jax Outdoor and Farm & Ranch, they pretty much have almost anything you could possibly want.

Got some amazing coffee and fudge and then went shopping for Christmas gifts. The staff was super helpful and helped answer all of our questions. I love shopping at this locating for just about anything.

Front register workers could smile a little. Kind of moody. Otherwise great store. Theres even a Koi pond.

Great place to buy clothes, camping gear, fishing and hunting gear. Guns, rifes, shotguns, ammo, canoes, kayaks, cooking utensils and pots and pans for home and a million other great items.

Always enjoy going to JAXs when we are in town. There is so much stuff to check out that we have to set a time limit there, so as to get on the road again for home. Always go home with something for the dogs, grand kids or ourselves.

I have been to jaxs hundreds of times. They have helped me out with picking the right flies to use before heading up the canyon to fish the cache la poudre. The have also helped me pick out the right chokes to use for geese through teals. They are also one of the first places I stop at for black Friday because such great deals. They also carry great military gear that is extremely durable and great to use.

This place is awesome!! They have everything an outdoor oriented person could ask for. I couldnt name all the stuff, but...camping, outdoor cooking, food preservation, hiking equipment, photography equipment, shoes, clothing, army surplus, kayaks, survival, hunting, fishing...the list goes on. Prices were average, some things a little higher than others, some cheaper. Huge place!
