I visited this club with my boyfriend, my sister and her friends for her birthday. We were there on February 29. My boyfriend had some panic attacks so we went outside several time. The final time we were told to step aside but were not given a reason. It was cold, I had a sleeveless top and my boyfriend, a light hoodie.When we went to go back in, he told us he couldnt let us back in. He stated he saw me pushing people to get outside. I told him my sister lost her phone and I needed to let her know where I was and what happened. He told me I was going to have to find other means.He also would not let my boyfriend in despite him needing to look for his phone also and not being the one to push people. Reading other comments, Im not surprised others were treated different because of their skin color.

Drink specials are amazing!! Get in early and youll be paying a few bucks for top shelf drinks. Fast and friendly staff. Open minded atmosphere. My favorite club in metro Detroit!Edit: Im going to say something me and my friends agree on. Time and time again we try different clubs around Detroit, Royal Oak and Ann Arbor. Everytime we agree, wed be having more fun at Orchid.Saturday nights are the best!

They have amazing 2 dollar drinks before 11 and the bartenders are fantastic and sexy. The lights here are dope and their patio area is nice!! Honestly no down sides unless u are a complete square

I absolutely loved my experience at this establishment last night! To start the security was absolutely amazing, they were all very nice guys and quick to solve problems! (Shout out to Travis, good luck with your upcoming nuptials!!!) Next the coach check ladies, super nice and sweet, remembered my coat and my face which was awesome! Super friendly girls plus coat check is only $1! Now for the bartenders, they all were dancing and having a great time taking orders, cleaning and still engaging with guests. Great experience ladies and gentlemen I will most deffinitly be back soon!!!!

First time here and this place is great if you like paying a $5 cover to watch a bunch of trashy people getting into fights. And being harassed by bums after while waiting for a ride. Will not be back. 1/10 would not recommend.

Went here for the first time & I will not go back. Our (black) friend was told he was not allowed in because he had a plaid shirt on. We looked inside & saw a handful of people wearing plaid flannels & our friend was in a Ralph Lauren dress shirt. The bouncer kept stating he doesnt make the rules but we kept arguing until he let him in. After we got in, we asked the head of security why they have a rule about plaid & he said they didnt. I will not support a place like this.

Good variety of music that is easy to dance to. The creep factor is relatively low compared to many other local night clubs. Drinks are reasonably priced and you never have to wait long to get them. Theres a large outdoor patio to smoke or simply cool off away from the crowd. Its located in a good spot where you can walk to nearby restaurants or bars if thats where the night should take you.

How is it we was there Friday and got in no problem, but yesterday it was a issue with my friend shirt? Were​ there EVERY Saturday and never had a problem. Tried to talk to the manager he act like he was too good to stop texting. So we ended up going to Luna in Royal oak. 89.7 was there, had a awesome time.

Definitely not a black friendly establishment. Ive been to this place multiple times with straight hair and had no problem getting in due to my dress code (specifically ripped jeans). Apparently, however, there is a dress code policy that does not allow ripped jeans. I was never made aware of this until my hair was in its natural state (an afro). Will never come back here.

I seen multiple comments about the place being racist, but my experience here was great. I went by myself, (black female) and everyone was very polite to me. The bouncer was black, and he was a sweet man. The bartender that floats around the club gave me no attitude, and she was helpful. No problems from the DJ, his music is very diverse. Surprised they played Cardi B. It was a good night, ALTHOUGH there were too many single men that were a bit too touchy touchy. Maybe someone needs to stroll around the club to monitor.

Friend DJs for Orchid and had one of our friends who is black sitting next to him in the DJ booth. Was told by the manager Rikki that she couldnt sit in the booth even though the night before he had a few white girls sitting with him and didnt say anything. i also requested a song to a different DJ, and was told they wouldnt play it because theyre trying to keep the hood out

I will never go to this place again. Apparently when you get stamped after getting in that means nothing. No matter how cold, or how long the line is they make you get back in line. Instead of telling you that up front, they wait until you go outside, and then dont let you come back in, despite the fact that you reserved and have a stamp. Completely ruined my night.

Perfect place to reserve a private booth for a party. Plenty of room to get down on the dance floor. Im always impressed by the wild orchid dancers that perform here on Saturdays. Its nice to go out in ferndale and not have to wait to be served. $2 drinks until 11... Grey Goose, Makers Mark, Crown... All $2 oh, and I cant forget SALSA NIGHTS on Thursdays!

Decent sized club that plays edm music mostly. The club has $2 drink specials which change hourly. Overall this place isnt the best but not the worst either. Crowd can vary depending on the night. Waitresses are nice but I felt the bar tenders were rude and didnt serve promptly. There is a smoking area/ outdoor area in the back that has fire pits. Sound system as well as light system is nice but I found there was a weird smell pretty much all over.

Im there every weekend... Friday nights are my favorite! The crowd is always so diverse that anyone should feel comfortable to let loose and party. Plus, the staff is super focused on making sure that women, especially, feel comfortable to have fun. If a guy is making any lady feel uncomfortable and being inappropriate, the security will make sure that it is taken care of immediately. Definitely a great place for girls night out or a bachelorette party! PLUS, no other place Ive been can compare with the drink specials!

Good music; but nothing else to brag about. Rude staff & management, overcrowded. The only saving grace is its prime location in the Ferndale area, but the area lost its hipster tag years ago. Place only worried about profit; so if you want to get into car accidents via getting hit by amateur drinkers, by all means go around here by closing times. By the way, nice job on having people other than everyday patrons post BS positive reviews to help business.

Okay so I agree with Christopher Stacherskis review. I went here very open-minded for my birthday, looking to celebrate and dance. The staff was nice and quick and I enjoyed their you call it drink special. There was a pimp looking man at least 50 years old walking around randomly pelvic thrusting women. The dance stage consisted of women staring at themselves in the mirror while they danced and their butt cracks hung out of their too tight pants, which was really interesting to watch. The DJ didnt have any original mixes either, more of a generic top 100 kind of thing.

Orchid is just poppin!!! They have delicious new drinks and CRAFT beers and they cost $2 until 11pm!!! You cant find that anywhere else And on top of that the bartenders and waitresses are fun and nice and dress in awesome themes. The music will definitely get your body groovin and channel 95.5 is there on Fridays! So grab your peeps and enjoy a fun filled evening. I know my friends and I do!

I shouldnt rate because Im not the type to jump at the opportunity to go to a club, but in my opinion; the bartenders were 5/10, floors were sticky as hell, and the place is just straight up ghetto if you ask me. Kinda reminded me of a dumpy strip club.

I had plans to come here on my 21st birthday. When we were standing in line to go in, they were so rude to my best friend that I turned right back around and walked out. I will never even attempt to go here again.

Wasnt really worth the trip to be told we can go jn because of ripped jeans, but we let in previously with no problem wearing the same style. Its okay to have rules, but dont lie to my face because youre going for a certain aesthetic. The only difference was we were rocking a natural style, and not straight hair as we had before. I wouldnt have thought too much of it, but it looks like this place isnt know for its inclusiveness proven evident in previous reviews. Such a waste on a good location. Save your time and your money. It isnt worth the trip.

The Tequila Blue comment below really threw me off because that is by far the worst club Ive ever been to. Wow.Orchid, however, has a great sound system, a ton of tvs, great vibes, cheap drinks and great people. Ive never had a hard time meeting nice new people and Ive never had a bad time.

I have been to orchid so many times, Ive always had a blast drinks were always good! Loved the two dollar your calls its! We just went on Wednesday for the night before thanksgiving I have me +25 people coming. And they bouncer refused to let them all in for free because they didnt all show up at the same time. I had to argue with him multiple times to get my friends in with out paying the $10 cover! We ended up leaving and going to Rosies. Also the club promoter Paul that set up the STUPID Latin nights is an idiot and could hold a conversation because he was drunk. I had my friend Lisa who works there set the reservation for me and the promoter still wouldnt budge. I will not go back again.

I am outraged by the level of racism that is displayed at the front entrance. Saturday January 9th my fiancé and I were refused admission because of colehaan boots. Mean while others were allowed to enter with cowboy boots. Its sad to know that a place so highly spoken of resorts to the lowest levels of discrimination. My fiancé is a fello Michiganian as well as a Detroit Lions Q.B. We have never been treated so bad and the guy showed no remorse.

I used to go here every saturday night with 2 good friends. On average we spent about 200$ in drinks every time and the bar staff knew us and loved us.... However, recently some disturbing things have happened... One time I was DDing for my other two friends as I had to work in the morning. I witnessed an extremely inhebriated girl I had spoken to earlier being sexually assaulted by a man that was not her boyfriend who I had also met earlier that night. I went up and asked if she was ok and she couldnt even formulate a sentence in response. I was then put in a headlock from behind by the assaulter and after getting away yelled at him. A bouncer came and stepped between us and told him to walk away. Even though this altercation resulted in a cut below my eye, HE WAS NOT KICKED OUT!! My two friends witnessed the whole thing and yelled at the bouncer and the aggressor and other people were shocked to see he wasnt kicked out either. After addressing the Bouncer that a woman had been sexually assaulted and I was asking if she was ok, he said whatever and walked away!!!A seperate experience, I happened to be DDing again for my same friends and another friend that came along. An off duty bouncer was in civilian cloths and being aggressive and yelled at me and tried to start a fight with me because he saw me watching him make a fool of himself. After watching him being buddy buddy with another bouncer, I just walked away. Later I addressed the Bouncer on duty and asked if he was an off duty bouncer and he replied yes. I said ok, good to know if I need to call the police later because it is obvious that you would have your friends back even if he was at fault. He replied with you got that right and walked away. Later that night I was outside and experienced a bloody nose as I have terrible allergies. I quickly had it stopped and nobody was affected by it. They asked me to step outside because they didnt want any blood on their property. I did while my friends were inside. Once it had fully stopped and I tried to re enter, the bouncer made me aware that I was Done for the night. After explaining it was a medical condition and requesting to meet his manager, he refused both and said sorry oh well. Being the fact that I know the ferndale police very well, I will be speaking to them to file a police report and have Orchid Investigated.In conclusion, if you want to be sexually assaulted, physically assaulted, have bouncers not watching out for anyone but themselves, and want to be kicked out because of a pre existing medical conidition, this is the club for you. Otherwise, I would advise to stay away. Me and my friends determined after the most recent experience that we will no longer be going to Orchid for saftey concerns. Good luck.

I used to go once in awhile, I will never go back. The bar staff is great but unfortunately the security guards and the managers suck pretty hard and that ruins everything. For some odd reason there are some security guards there who enjoy instigating fights with the customers. One specifically who has red hair enjoys talking crap to a friend of mine for no reason. The security guard was about to hit my friend who didnt swear at him, didnt raise his voice to him, didnt even walk up to him actually. I get in between them and I say, Just leave us alone man we didnt do anything wrong. So he calls for back up instantly before anything else when were being peaceful and Im then put in a choke hold to the point I couldnt breathe and kicked out when a simple, You need to go now could have been in order. Then when I calmly tried to talk to the manager about it he didnt give two shits. He more over promoted his security guards to assault us, which by the way is illegal for them to put their hands on you.

This club easily puts every other club in the area including Royal Oak to shame. Sound system, sub-woofer, and light show are amazing and the music played is a great mix of top 40s and electronic/house music. This is my favorite club next to Luna and Commune in Royal Oak. You just cant beat the atmosphere, prices, and staff.

This is a racist establishment! Also, ordering drinks can be chaotic. The bar tenders will serve their friends first even though youve been waiting longer then them.

After hearing about all the racism that goes on I will never ever give my money or time of day to a place like this.

Comes up as an 18 and up club in searches but at the door they tell you 21+ thanks for ruining my daughters 18th birthday!
