Can meet some pretty nice people here & the fishing can be hit or miss, but someone is always getting lucky. Safe place for a family outing.

It is best to arrive early at this bridge because it can get pretty crowded around 11 am. If you plan on walking the bridge arrive early so you wont have to step over fishing equipment and cross the path of those fishing.Underneath the bridge there were people fishing as well and a few people looking for seashells and other trickets that might have washed up on the shore.I would recommend it as another fishing spot but plan on arriving as early as you can.

I usually fish off the smaller bridge on the Jax side. Very roomy on the shore but on bridge also spacious as usually not crowded. Great variety of fish caught...primarily croakers, whiting, catfish and angelfish. However I have also caught the occasional red, sheepshead, trout, and flounder.

We’ve tried fishing here a few times. Probably won’t go back. Too noisy and too crowded. Every 20 ft. there’s another boom box blasting nasty obscenities. We watched people fishing with 10 rods at a time, plus rope off spaces for another 3 rods. Not a family friendly environment. Didn’t see A single FWC police on any of the 3 full days we spent on the bridge.

The bridge is a good place to fish from. It is very scenic and a nice long walk on the beach is worth it. The beach is drivable at low tide but you better know what you are doing because I have seen many people needing to get towed out. Do yourself a favor and dont attempt it if you dont know what you are doing otherwise you will be paying for a tow. There is a bait shop located at the North side of the bridge. It has everything. Nice, friendly people run the shop. I would recommend this bait shop.

Although I personally have never fished from the southern former car bridge to Amelia Island, almost every time I drive next to it down/up Hecksher during the day there are 30-40 fisher folks out there fishing. That says it all!Needless to say - Gorgeous views!

Very Nice Place to Come

Mile long bridge that holds dozen of species of saltwater fish. The most common catches are whiting, trout, black drum, red drum, flounder and sheepshead.

Maybe this is a good fishing spot, was told by locals they usually catch a good bit of redfish, sea trout, and more out here but didnt have any luck. Using live bait, no one on the bridge caught anything, there must of been about a hundred people and in the two hours fishing saw no one bring anything in. It was going to be high tide when we were there apprently some folks said you wanna fish slack tide here. Anyways not a bad spot if you wanna just try your luck, make sure you use a 6oz weight the currents are strong out here. Would have gotten a bigger rating but the walk is killer with a bunch of gear to the middle of the bridge. Wish you could drive on it.

Great fishing bridge, on the intercoastal river. Located in Nassau county, this fishing spot is a great place for all levels of fishing. Has a bait store, plenty of room and is free.

Pretty place, long walk, coulda done the parking different. Didnt catch anything at all. The water is REALLY strong here.

Great fishing but. Huricain damage has closed off sections. And parks department has no plans of fixing or maintaining. What happened to the funds to repair?? Let alone the revenue $ 2.00 per person per day. They are not used in maintenance so at some point park will have to close because of neglect. Sad!!

Great place with amazing sunrise and sunset views and great beach access along the Nassau Sound. Restrooms on North end at Amelia Island State Park were clean and the entry fee is not too expensive. Good fishing off the bridge. I can see the small paved parking lot filling up quickly and you probably need 4WD to drive on the beach.

Use the bike trail is 11 1/2 miles and is great lots of nature and wild life to see..

Always enjoy the natural vibe of this place. The fishing is great. Nice place to enjoy. Be careful driving on the beach though if you dont have a truck with 4x4 because you will get stuck!!!

Always love to come out here to fish, but they need to fix the roads from one end so people can enjoy it more and have easier access and parking.

This is the most beautiful and relaxing place. We travel 120 miles round trip to come out and enjoy the beautiful sun rise and sun sets. Love the scenery the birds and to do a little fishing.We bring a small grill. Chairs and snacks with plenty of water and enjoy the atmosphere. Friendly folks and wonderful park rangers. We love going here to fish either off the beach or bridge. The sun rises and sun sets are beautiful. Get there early If you want a particular spot because it gets crowded in a hurry. Ive caught 60 in Redfish, big sharks, and many other species of fish.

You need 8 or 10 poles a piece to make it worth the trip

So relaxing been going here since a kid and the fish are awesome as well!!!

Great spot! I am reading one of the reviews (by Johanna) and think she did not find the correct spot; no cannons, no neighborhood; just a beautiful beach and a long fishing bridge touching down on a small island about half way across.

Im from lake city fl and was here on 4 14 2017 and seen there was a pier very confusing since piere is on other side so i pulled in parking lot never got out never parked in a parking space just pulled in to look when a very unpolite officer by the name Christmas folin walks up to my car and stops me from going through to get out comes over very rudly and gives me a 80 dollar citation i would like to take it to court but would cost me in more in long run so moral of the story is he ruined me and my 7 year old and 13 year old fishing plans and day so beware of pulling in cant check it out in less you pay and i was going to buy bait and tackle for trip but i will not be purchasing these things now because i refuse to give revenue to a town with people like this guy do not pull in to check out here your warning take it from me !!!!!!!!!!
