Love History, Really well kept Fort. Loved exploring the fort it self, seeing where they kept things, how they lived in the fort. Pretty big fort. The shoreline n beach around it n the view from the fort amazing. Beautiful sunsets. Highly recommend visiting, well worth it. Want to come back and do some hiking trails for sure at the park. First time here and visiting Amelia Island great day trip lots of things to do.

The fort was a blast to explore, we did not see any rangers or reenactment soldiers because of covid but the grounds are clean and open! Lots of history here and the beach was easy to access and a nice way to talk to the kiddos about wild life, plants and state lines! Waved a Georgia and saw some cannonball jellyfish, walked the trails and had the best experience!

Everything is original in terms to the stone and wood work. The fort remained active up until the 1940’s. The property leading to the fort offers walking and biking trails, plus multiple picnic areas to bring lunch. If you enjoy history and outdoor activities this would be a great spot to spend the day with family and friends. Beautiful views too!

Had a nice afternoon at fort clinch. The $6 entry fee is worth it given all the park has to offer. Theres an additional $2.50 per person charge to access the fort. The fort and its history are cool and have some nice views. The hiking trails are nice too. The trails range from a half mile to over 5 miles, so you have options. There are also a few beach access points throughout the park, in addition to camping sites.

Our family loves checking out the different forts around Florida. This one was really neat, but I wish there was someone who explained more of the history about the fort. There was a lady (who sat with her friends the whole time we were there) that if you had a question you would find her and ask, but gave you short answers. Overall walking around and seeing this amazing for was a great experience. I would definitely recommend going in the cooler months though.

Really cool place but there was no one around to ask questions nor was there any placards to identify what you were looking at or how it was used. Again, really cool place but you left with too many questions. Id pay more to help with obvious restoration needs and signage.

This park has a bit of everything - beautiful drives, mountain and road biking, trails of various lengths, a fort for touring, camping and miles of beach. The first time we tried to go the park was closed because too crowded. I can see the fort getting to crowded but not the rest! Maybe parking filled up. In any case, we went back early the next day and werent disappointed.

My son and I really enjoy state parks. We found Ft. Clinch returning from a Georgia expedition, liked what we saw and returned, three days later, for a two night trip. What a fantastic park. historic, clean, convenient with plenty of shade. and staff that appear to love what they do. I recommend this state park for a daily, weekend or any over night trip you would like to enjoy.

Beautiful getaway for any history buffs. I highly recommend Fort Clinch for a great family outing. Stepping into the Fort was like stepping into a Time Machine and making one feel what it must have really felt like living in those days. It made me appreciate how good we have it here in the West and the folks who sacrificed their lives for our Constitutional freedoms.

What a great treasure in North Florida. If you are a camper in the park, there are two campgrounds here: ocean side and river side. The ocean side is new, smaller, in more demand, and has almost no trees (so hotter). The river side has sites nestled among the trees. Both allow you to enjoy very beautiful sunsets over the water. Must do: visit the fort (only $2.50), walk the five miles of trails around the park, visit the nature overlooks along the road and trails. Just outside the park: go to the charming downtown area of Fernandina and stroll around the shops, cafes, bars, restaurants and have a bite to eat. Just outside the campground around the corner along the ocean is a great restaurant that you can walk to from the park, and it has beautiful ocean views (cant remember the name, but kitchen is in the name).

A nice little park with not much crowd to it. While its nothing big or elaborate, its still informative and well preserved/presented. Youre also free to walk along the coastline around the fort. Staff can tell you about the park and apparently they still use the fort and buildings for activities, like cooking. Some fair winter advice, the windchill coming off the ocean makes it a lot colder than the base temperature, so you may want something thicker if youre checking out on colder days.

Park is beautiful but we were kicked out of gift shop and entrance to fort because my wife had a scarf tied across her face instead of a mask. Apparently the gift shop and ticketing to the fort are a privately owned concession by a man named Steve. He was very rude and unfriendly. I asked him to see the written mask policy. The written Florida State Park policy said mask or face covering. I asked why my wifes thick scarf tied across her face was not good enough. He could not justify it other than to say, I get to decide what is required, and anything other than a mask is not good enough for me. The park ranger that we talked to on our way out said that my wifes face covering should have been sufficient. He said the actors in their reenactments wear bandannas and it has not been an issue. Interesting to note another complaint about Steve in these reviews here as well.

We would have missed this amazing state park if the national parks werent closed for the government shutdown. We decided to stop on our drive back home on New years eve. Weve never been to the area and wanted to enjoy the trip home. Did we ever?! Totally worth the time and extra cost. There is a parks cost (I think it was $6 each car) and then there is a separate fee of $2.50 for each person. We werent charged for my little one because she is 2 and they were kind. But I think she was having the best time with all of the interesting new rooms and places to dance. She and her brother (hes a second grader) loved the fort. We learned, we played, we took silly pictures and got to go on the beach. The water was not safe when we went because the ocean was bringing jellyfish to the shore. However the sand was just as fun to my kids and we really werent there for a beach day. As we left the park we were surprised to see a couple of deer. It was truly a special trip. Would definitely recommend it highly!

In my opinion this is one of the best places not only in Florida but in the US to visit. The history of Fort Clinch is remarkable and encompasses some of the major history of the south and United States as a whole. If youre a history lover then you are sure to be pleased with it here. Now besides the historical aspect, it would also appeal to anyone who loves the beach, finding shark teeth and beautiful seashells while walking along the shoreline. Or you could head over and go camping in their very lovely RV parks and campgrounds. There is wildlife in abundance all over the park and wonderful hiking and photo opportunities. The marsh views are amazing. Be careful and be courteous of nature and history and youre sure to have a wonderful time here!
