Tell you save your money worse golf course ive ever played if it was 25 dollars not bad but for 50 hell no. No sand in bunkers greens full of divots. Your ball bounces everytime u putt. Even the holes are over grown not cut. Course is in really bad condition.

3 stars, the course is great and the staff is friendly. Unfortunately when I was looking online to book a tee time i saw a fair price of $50.99 for 18 holes on a weekday. I only had time for 9 holes so I called in to the pro shop to see if I could book 9 for myself and my wife, at a prorated price relative to half the cost of 18 holes, say $30. I was told that the price for 9 holes at the same tee time was $47.99, a $3 difference for 9 less holes of golf. The associate then told me that their is a discount for booking online but they do not offer 9 hole bookings online. Needless to say this is not the place to play 9 holes, still love the course but they are losing business, mine for sure due to irregular pricing practices.Ill see you another time for 18, 3 stars for $3 difference between 9 and 18 holes.

Unexpected great course not too far from the city. Didn’t know it was a Nicklaus design until I showed up. However, I do believe the course must be managed my some organization, and I think it’s lost a hair of its “Nicklaus touch” since it first opened. You can tell there were some wasteland/sand ares that have grown over, for example, that probably once looked great. Nonetheless, this course is in my mind a hidden Gem considering the reasonable price point, and overall play on the course. It’s not too long, but is on a beautiful piece of land, scenic holes and nothing gets too quirky or unfair in my opinion. Great variety of holes. There are some poa on the greens but they still rolled well. Definitely will be back.Side note, I left my sunglasses in my cart. Cart 28. Grey frames blue/green lenses. If management sees this please let me know.

Short story:Me and my 5 year old daughter had a date planned to golf here on Tuesday 6/19/2018, while my wife was working. My daughter was super excited to golf, and “drive” the golf cart, we do this often. It’s 95* outside on this particular day, so we are lathered in sun screen, and dressed accordingly.. or so I thought. She’s wearing her golf skirt with a solid color Nike t shirt, and I’m wearing all black nike shorts with a dry fit solid color t shirt. We show up, walk into the pro shop and get turned away from our tee time. I could have understood the rule being enforced during peak business hours, but I was golfing at 3:30 on a Tuesday.. some people will read this review and say this sounds like my kind of place. I’m not one of these people. Turning down a father daughter duo during a dead period of the day for not having collars on their shirts left a very bad taste in my mouth. I would understand if We were wearing obnoxious t shirts or ratty cloths even, but we were in sports attire dressed for a 95* day. All this aside the course is nice, which is why I gave it 2 stars. The upper class people and rules suck, though.

Greens on holes 10-17 were terrible. Looked like they hadn’t been mowed in 2-3 days. On a Saturday! Simply unacceptable. 1 cart girl for 18 hol a is not sufficient. 19th hole had only brats and hotdogs. What kind of place is Walters running. Needs some serious upgrades. Jack Nicklaus would not be happy.

Ja
Review №29

Better shape than in the past few years. Can get good rates. The greens are hit and miss but are usually quick but some have bare spots. Nice layout but the greens must be addressed. Seems like people who frequent the higher end public courses dont like to fix ball marks on the greens. Its a shame.

The course itself is fine. Always in respectable condition. But its the players at Stonewolf that will drive you bonkers. Its like its everyones very first round of golf out there. No courtesy whatsoever. We played today and got stuck behind a slow foursome and the group behind us hit into us twice. One time is actually hit me on the leg. When I asked if they were in a big hurry they just laughed it off and told me not to worry about it. The situation could be helped if there was a marshall making rounds on the course. But its pretty much a free for all. Wont be headed back until summer is over and all the chucklehead golfers stay home.

We typically like visiting Stonewolf because of the customer service, but it has definitely gone downhill. First and foremost, during our visit, there was a groundskeeper cutting tee boxes, etc that had ZERO understanding of golf etiquette. The young man would come up on my wife and I while we were teeing off or anywhere and just sit there leaving the lawnmower running listening to his music. On #18, he sat on the cart path right after the womens tee box where the path turns slightly to the left, talking on his phone. I was tired of waiting for him to pay attention and move so I started to tee off. At that moment he finally decided to get back on his mower and move forward (he still had no idea we were there). Also, he didnt put any tee box markers back on any of the tee boxes. ABSOLUTELY ridiculous. After the round, I went to the front counter to let the pro shop know about this individual but there was no one at the front counter and no sign stating they were getting range balls and would be back in 5-minutes. I cant imagine leaving the desk unmanned at a golf course like this. In addition to me, there were 3 other people waiting. I finally tracked down the individual working the bar and she got the general manager hiding in the office off the pro shop. He came out with earphones hanging off his neck and didnt apologize for anything...the wait, no person there, etc. Easy to see where the workers get their terrible attitude. After the three other people were helped, the young man returned to the counter and the manager left. I let the young man know my concerns and he definitely had a so what attitude. The very thing that kept me coming back to Stonewolf - customer service - is absolutely none existent. Furthermore, the condition of the course is terrible. It looks like a good majority of the green side bunkers are being removed which eliminates a challenging element to the golf course. It seems like all the beautiful and challenging elements that Jack Nicklaus built in the golf course are being taken out. It will no longer be a Jack Nicklaus designed golf course. Why would I want to spend money at an average golf course with TERRIBLE customer service. Customer service will bring me back to an okay establishment but I will definitely take my business to Far Oaks or other courses that dont typically have as good of customer service but have nicer golf courses. Finally, why would you move the morning coffee to the bar where it isnt visible to anyone? Again, another sign of the extreme decline is customer service!! The worst visit by far.

Ri
Review №32

Jack Nicklaus is evil when it comes to golf course design. This course can play very challenging. The greens are very deceptive and can be lightning fast at times. Some of the holes require a little strategy due to the placement of trouble and approach angles. If you want a challenge in a course that is in good shape then give it a try.

Review №38

I was very excited to play this course after seeing the reviews and it being a Jack Nicklaus design. However, overall I was underwhelmed. The course was in decent condition but some greens were borderline not puttable with little grass. The bunkers were inconsistent some with hard sand others with soft fluffy sand. And some areas were not properly trimmed. Fairways were looking and playing great though!Course was a bit quirky and if you havent played it before you are likely to hit what you think is a good shot and end up in a tough spot. In the end, its a decent course but for what they charge I would expect it to be in better condition, but it seems they would rather cram as many golfers on the course rather than keep it in top notch condition. Im unlikely to recommend this course at this time.

Course layout is good, pricing is good, but the conditioning is bad. The bunkers are absolutely horrible and have been for at least a year. Minimal sand in all of them with some traps collapsing. Some greens were spotty and the course is overgrown in some areas too. If Jack Nicklaus were dead, then hed be spinning in his grave to have his name now affiliated with this course! Raise the prices and condition the course!! This should be a premier layout but instead is mediocre.
