Great modern facilities with three pools and accompanying services. the campus is gorgeous with plenty of green spaces hikes and trees. There are even very nice small streams but Also plenty of parking space for large events. There is a good and fairly priced cafeteria. The only thing is that it is a good 40 minutes away from the city which makes it a bit of a commute but also very quiet and Serene.
I spend a lot of time here, either at the gym or the pool. The whirlpool and sauna are fantastic and so is the pool. It is all well managed, there is order and respect even when there are big swim meets. I feel fortunate to have access to this facility. The students do a really good job.
Clean and fairly new with excellent pools for swimming. Family friendly part with shallow water and some toys. The gym is well equipped with a good selection of new machines. The only bad thing I can say that quite many non family persons, including staff, are using the family changing room toilet. And remember to check if there is a swimming event going on, as the pool may be closed or AFC simply will be over crowded.
Grew up @ this pool. Memberships/daily payments required for entry. Ample parking nearby(deck and lots) 2 pools huge workout center and fitness classes too. Definitely a good place to get back to your healthy self again
Nice swimming center. They have swim meets here and its a good location for them. The seating area could be a little crowded, but at lease we could come in and watch.
Pretty nice has a hot tub whirlpool not too full and has lap pool but not really a sitting pool.
This is one of the three gyms on campus. It boasts two pools one for doing laps, other one to splash around. Both are pretty good size. The gym offers a comprehensive set of equipments for people training for different things. The top floor has plenty of cardio equipments. There’s also a dark cold room dedicated to cycling and there’s also a yoga studio sort of an area. It’s fair to say that it’s got something for everyone.
We signed up for swimming lessons with our swim instructor, Alex Metzger. We feel very fortunate and are extremely satisfied with his teaching. Alex is a great teacher, very patient, encouraging and knowledgeable at teaching swimming. We also deeply appreciate that Alex always tries his best to adapt to our schedule.Strongly recommend Alex if you need a swim instructor.
Its a pretty decent rec pool with great workout facilities. Theres a dry sauna and a hot tub as well.
The professional and student staff are amazing and the facilities are very clean.
Parking...ticketing people at$100 a pop... great businesses dont ticket cars to make money, they deliver a superior product. I will take my time and money elsewhere.
Great facility... kids swim there competitively.
There are much better gym options in the area.
This gym has everything, it’s very clean, organized. Went to the Zumba class & it was pretty awesome.
Very nice dive facility
Terrific facility for US Masters Colonies Zones swim meet.
Great if you are a GMU student or faculty, on the expensive side if not. They have a decent gym, a recreation pool thats about 4-5ft deep, 25 yards long, with 6 lanes, a large Jacuzzi, and a sauna. There is also an AWESOME competition/dive pool that is about 8 - 9 feet deep at the shallow end, 25 yards x 50 meters, basically a swimmers wet dream, however they only use the long lanes during the summers. During the rest of the year youre stuck with the 25 yards.
Great swing pool
Mason overall has really nice gyms. This gym has many machines that range from treadmills to bench presses to leg press. There is a wide range of weights and a wide range machines that can work any muscle group. There are classes at the gym that are available for mason students. The cycling class is always a popular class. The people working here are very nice and helpful.
Great pool two pools an Olympic pool and a recreational pool with no break times
Good experience, comfortable venue for a swim meet, seating can be tough.
No obvious handicapped parking, easy drop off in front closed which would be good for those of with canes and small children to walk in.
Pretty clean gym with ample machinery and weights. They have weird rules and employees stop you in the middle of your set. Ive been told my workout attire is inappropriate, but Ive seen several people in cutoffs before. Just seems oddly regulated. They werent so strict in years past.
Well-maintained and decently equipped. But make sure you call them before going as they close pools sometimes for scheduled events. This place has a competition pool and a recreation pool with Jacuzzi and hot sauna. It also has gym and other activites for members.
Always loved this pool. Get the competition pool if you can--its tranquil, cool, and not even as chlorine-punch-to-the-face as you might expect.
It needs a boxing bag. And the weight room has a strange odor. Specifically right in front of the weights. Otherwise its great! Has two pools, hot tub, showers, and a large array of machines and weights. There is at least one of the most common equipments found in full gyms. Specialty equipment... not so much.
Friendly staff and great variety of equipment/options.
Love this gym. Im a student here and this has been my go to gym throughout my time here. There is a wide variety of equipment to choose from for cardio and weight training, great spaces to do circuit training, and the classes are pretty fun too. Also the sauna is also a bonus!
It is worth your tuition money!
The aquatics facility is beautiful, two pools. One for leisure and one for a more workout theme with lanes. They also have a fully stocked diving well with a 1 meter and a 3 meter board.
George Mason university has THREE athletic centers and this is by far my favorite. This place has two pools, a huge hot tub, and a steam room. The gym is also great and there are free cycling and zumba classes for full time students!
So well done as a facility and program. Great gym! Ive been going for years and its so friendly and welcoming.
The low rating is for personal items lost by staff when it was in a locked locker. Know that they can breakthrough your locker and not put all your items in lost and found. Beware of lost and prevention policy, staff and protecting personal items.
Nice service, nice facility
I love the Aquatic and Fitness Center at GMU. HOWEVER, the reason for the low rating is that they give you a parking pass, but there is no dedicated parking. So, when you show up to go to the gym, and you cant find parking, they will redirect you to the field house parking lot which is over a 1 mile walk. I know I am going to exercise anyway so what is the problem? I go to swim because my knees are bad and the one mile walk defeats the purpose. If they would set aside an aquatic and fitness center parking are, this would easily be a 5-star rating from me!
Such friendly staff at the front desk! I love coming here to work out, although the chlorine-smell from the pool can be pretty overwhelming when you first walk in. Equipment is cleaned frequently and of great quality, and theres two separate workout rooms for yoga or pilates––they even offer general fitness classes included with your membership.
Very nice place. Great staff. Both pools are awesome. Well laid out. Facilities are clean and tidy.
Excellent gym and pool equipment. If you need a towel, bring a dollar. The lockers are bring your own lock.
Pools are very clean, gym equipment is very good and the best part is that this place has a hot tub and a sauna
Great gyms at GMU. Everything you need and more. Cant beat the faculty/staff price
Great pool with great amounts of space, activities and staff. Youll have a great time here and wont have a problem getting in a work out!
Water is pretty cold, but every swimmer knows its better than warm water.
2 pools and diving boards great indoor facility and workout center
Pretty neat gym and pools. Upper level is for cardio. Lower level is for weights. Good selection of weights ( I dont spend too much time on cardio). Pools - competition pool is pretty nice... Lanes are available most times. Theres also a 4 feet kiddie pool which tends to get crowded sometimes. Added bonus : dry sauna! Only irk I have is that it is 50 USD a month, which is slightly too much for me, as I dont make much. Free for all gmu students.
Great facilities, very clean and well maintained. Can get busy, but it is Mason, so yeah.
Awesome services. the swimming pool is gorgeous and the gym contains everything that one would need for working out. Very much popular among students at GMU.
The staff was rude. I jumped in the swimming pool and a girl wistled at me to pull me out cuz they rented out the whole pool, not even a single lane left at the small pool. Only brought a swimsuit with me so basically I cannot workout. Then after my membership ended, I thought I am at least entitled to one compensatory visit but another stupid asian girl at the counter stopped me and let me call manager for complaint just couldnt let me in for one more. Such a bad experience.
Never over crowded like some commercial gyms. Have 3 raquetball courts!
On of the best pools I’ve ever seen
Nice facilities and staff are kind but not always helpful/quick
Gr8 place to workout and swim!
Great facilities, pool, free-weights, machines, treadmills, etc. Everything youd expect a gym to have. Generally pretty clean, and usually isnt horribly crowded.
Nice competitive pool along with a side rec pool and large hot tub.
Staff is very pleasant and helpful. We need more places like the GMU Aquatic center. CLONE THIS PLACE!!!!!
Good pool ( not great) limited food options
Great gym, very clean locker rooms. Friendly staff/students. It could use a larger weight area.
The pool and aquatic stuff is great but the weight rooms are extremely dated and packed at all hours.
George Mason University Acquatic Center...Kid has swim practice at this facility. Good college environment, safe, eating area about a 5 minute walk and has good options.
Very nice placeThanks
Very nice facility, clean and plenty of space available for lap swimming in the early AM. I have not tried the classes but the schedule of classes included with the membership looks great. Osher Institute member prices for me, spouse, child less than local gym membership for one!
2 pools, a Jacuzzi, a sauna room, a changing/shower room, a fitness gym and and a muscle gym. This place is perfect for everything!
Good pool. Huge and not humid.
2018 VSHL Class 6 State meet. Packed and loud. James river high school State swim team.
Clean facility with good equipment for GMU students and faculty.
Great place for exercise.
Nice facility but its to small.
Great Facility all the way around.
Good clean facilities, friendly staff, less chlorine in pool
Great gym for everything. Swim, Lift, Cardio.
Great place to work out and take exercise classes
Outclass fitness facility and swimming pool
Clean and well run
Best place in the community to go for fitness.
Facility is aging. Hope they continue with capital improvements.
Usually busy otherwise great gym
It has a great gym but the hot tub is broken too often.
Very nice facility!
