5 stars if there was a view atop this short, steep and intense 1,060 hike. There are some peeks along the way, but this local gem is mostly treed. A bonus is that toward the top youll start seeing columnar basalt, the remains of this extict volcanic cinder cone. This mountain is also called Mt Peak, which is a misnomer. Early settlers used to call it Mt Pete, for Pete Chorak, an Enumclaw local. Much of Pinnacle Peak lies beneath the surrounding flat farmland which formed from the Osceola Mudflow some 5,600 years ago.

Great workout, steep and not very long. Was hoping for a view once we reached the top. The best views are on the way up but were not without obstructions.

Easy Hike! If you ride bikes please do NOT go on the hiker ONLY paths, many spots are narrow and corners are tight, people do not expect fast coming mountian bikes. The view is awesome and paths are well maintained overall.

Come for the hike and the forest, not the views.. the forest is stunning here, but trees are tall and full, limiting visibility from the summit.. I imagine the views would be fantastic during winter once the trees drop their leaves. Its a tough hike to the top, but the lush forest is spectacular along the way!

Took a group of young children with no issues. The trail was decent width and wide in a few places. Was well maintained trail. Every other hiker we met was very friendly and most brought along a four legged friend

Lovely on a sunny day, with enough shade in places to cool down. Some spots with a nice view of Mt. Rainier. Keep your eyes out for the foundation of the now-absent fire lookout tower as you reach the summit of the peak. And dont forget to bag your peak at the USGS marker at the very top. Hiked in March, highly recommend on a spring day if theres no rain.

Short hike on the Magnusson trail but pretty steep. It definitely wore me out but I enjoyed it. The payoff view at the very top wasnt much to see but just before that last part of the trail to the top was a good view.

Mt. Peak as locals refer to it is a great daily hike, 3.3 miles up the back, South side, and 2.2 miles up the front, North side. The longer back side features a long 1.2 mile gravel path in the sun before you going into the woods near the crown of the peak. The front is much more intense and not for beginners or occasional hikers.Beat the heat in summer and take your hikes earlier though. It can get a little hot after it reaches 65. The steep inclines are hard for those not in shape. The front is steep the whole way. The hike offers lots of shade but air flow in summer can suffer on warmer days. Lots of different trails. Beautiful views of Mt. Rainier and surrounding communities. You cant find a better hike so close to Seattle.

If you want a small challenge then this is the place to hike.. 1800 feet to top.. not much of a view at the top but you get a pretty good workout

Its a good trail for a quick work out. Despite having Peak in the name there isnt a peak view at the very top. Its shrouded in trees and brush. There are some side views with okay views. The trail is mostly steel with pockets of roots. I see some short cuts and would like to kindly remind people to stay on the main trail! Very easy to follow if youre not soft in the head.

I used to love this place growing up. Now, its terrible. Theres so many people its literally gross. Cant have private time with nature anymore because they had to build it and they will come with their tacky parking lot. Every time I drive there now I end up trying to sit in my car until people leave, but people just keep coming until cars are parked all along the road. This mountain IS NOT big enough for all of us. Find another mountain.

This is a great hike. There comes a fork in the road where you can choose the easy route to the top by going left, or the challenging route by going right. If you want a workout, definitely keep right! If you just want to go for a stroll on a still moderate afternoon hike, keep left! Cant wait to do it again in the summer.

Wow! First time at this hike. It can be really confusing. There are alot of choices along the path. I havent checked it out on line yet. But its pretty quiet for a popular trail especially for locals. Me and a friend and her visiting dog went on this hike . It starts off steep. A really nice training trail. We only had a little time until dark. So we didnt stay but maybe an hour... Enjoy the serenity!

This place is way steeper than they mention on the website. Its definitely for people who have a little more stamina. Theres a bench about 3/4 of the way up to rest. I stayed there sent my boys up the rest of the way. They said theres no beautiful look out at the top

Fun hike we did with kids. Not too tough. Most of the hike is on a gravel fire road. Once you get to the top, you enter the forest and hike to the footings out the old fire watchtower. We would do it again.

It has become over crowed, it used to be great to go get a good workout, but now there are to many people and people that leave there dogs poop bags on the trailand and are there for social hour and are not always considerate of those that are wanting to get there exercise. Before the county got involved those that were regulars took care of downed trees and did trail maintenance and it was good, now its become way to politically correct.
