A perfect place to stop on the way out of town for large adventures, or a destination itself. The interpretive center here is gorgeous and the bathroom facilities have running water and are quite clean. There are some truly massive old growth trees in the forest here.

Incredible wilderness of seemingly ancient origins, definite recommendation if youd consider the enchanting expedition through the mountains to these small trails.

Wow very pretty! Beautiful river and rolling hills of evergreen as far as the eye can see. We found a cool snake and saw many elk droppings so they must hang out here too. My dog swam in the water and was so happy and cute, we never wanted to leave. There is a nice trail and little streams throughout the forest. People fish here idk for what but they do. All together a great place and so nearby Puyallup! Definitely check it out :)

After watching the sunrise on fs 70 and drinking too much coffee and all the stores were closed in greenwater; I was SO greatful for the restroom that was open with running water and toilet paper. Thank you!!

Only used for the restroom on the way to Crystal Mtn and it was clean and nice. Thank you. Loved the interpretive signs along the walk to the restrooms.

Facilities were good. Large parking lot. Two good interpretive loops but not much else there. Half of the Long trail was not maintained and another third was closed but we still hiked it.

Great views with picnic areas and multiple trails. Pet friendly. You need a Discovery Pass or pay $10 cash for the day (there is no credit card machine for day passes).

I want to say this is a horrible place and to never go here. But thatd be selfish. Great place to take a walk with your dog and/or child. Easy to access and plenty of parking.

This is a quick and easy place to go hiking. While there is not 1 long trail to follow,, there are a bunch of interlocking trails to take some time blazing.

It does run along the road, so not a super quiet hike. Easy enough to get to with a regular car/kids/dogs. Not too much elevation. Some parking. Trails on the south side are maintained, but can be windy/not super well signed. You can get to the river, bring good shoes or be prepared to hit rocks and snags and carefully cross. There is a visitor center, but it was covid closed. Lots of parking. Bring your Discover pass. Cell service the whole time (Verizon on pixl)

Beautiful and very muddy. Not a lot of river access, maybe just because its so high right now. Far for me; if I came back that way, I would just go to the national forest instead.

Nice gentle hike through the forest. Due to funding, trail maintenance is less than it could be. Quiet area despite it being right next to the highway

Absolutely beautiful park! The interpretative center was closed Friday afternoon so I didnt get to visit it but the park itself and the trails were beautiful. The air smelled divine, and the sound of the birds and river rushing was cathartic.I did feel a little lost once I got to river and wasnt sure how to get back to the parking lot so itd be helpful to have signs on the trail but I used my intuition and common sense and found my way back.

Nice state park to stop off at on your way to Mt. Rainier. Theres a good loop trail, interpretive center, and restrooms. Only bad thing is its right next to the busy highway so you hear vehicles passing by.

Awesome place to camp. It can get pretty crowded during the summer months, but once you get off the beaten track, it gives you a sense of freedom that you only have when outside the city and away from civilization.Ive made it a habit of camping in this forest at least twice a year. Please be respectful of the locals and wildlife.

Great area, beautiful views and a decent amount of hiking trails. Get an amazing feel of the northwestern wilderness. Be ready to drive more than 20 minutes to get somewhere to hike. Negatives: Many areas require a purchased state park pass to park vehicles. Abundant amounts of bussiness owned and logging land crisscross and overwhelm publicly accessible land.

Great hiking trails and clean. This is a great little hike for the people that like a short but nice hike. The only thing that could be better, the information signs throughout the interpretive trail were broken or missing. I feel like the money I donate should be used for this. Luckily I knew a lot about the trees and shrubs to help my friends to learn all about the various species. What a beautiful day we had.

My brother fell off a ledge going to the river we took him to the emergency room and he gave him ice.... But hes ok no broken anything but i did scream and cry cause he did.... Also I peed in the woods cause there was no bathrooms that was working

Detailed interactive trails. The main building has informative displays about old growth forest and the history women groups that came together to save old growth trees.

Beautiful place to visit n hiking trails

Peaceful old-growth forest and easy hiking suitable for young and old. The only downside is that much of the trail is not far enough from the highway to totally eliminate road sounds.

This small park is off the beaten path and perfect for avoiding large crowds. Its also not very big, which makes it perfect for families with small children. Also worth noting that most of the year, the river is too strong to get very close to the water.

An excellent picnicking spot in addition take a self guided tour to learn the native flora and and which ones are editable. If you can catch a ranger they are full of knowledge which they are happy to share.

Beautiful peaceful place to go. There is steep drop off points so be careful not to walk too close to the edge.

Great place to feel small and insignificant. Reflect on what vast wilderness means from a vantage point where you can watch the clouds roll in and out like covers over the bed of your life.

Easy to walk trails which makes a loop by the river

Federation Forest is like that gift you get on Christmas when you are expecting the best thing to be in the big box, but when you open the little box you get the real surprise. I have been going here since I was a small child and have always enjoyed it.Just a short drive up 410 from Enumclaw there are a number of short mostly flat trails that wander through second generation Pacific Northwest woods. These trees are huge and spread out. There are even some old growth trees you can see as you follow the well beaten paths. As you enjoy your stroll youll be overwhelmed by the beautiful mosses and fallen trees.You can choose many paths. There is a great short loop, maybe 1/2 mile, that takes you to the White River. When you drive in you will see the visitor center on your right and pass the payment booth. Park near the end of the parking lot and you will see a little hiker sign on the right side of the parking lot. Take this trail and stay left at the Y. After a short ways you come to the picnic area with a covered area. Continue on to the road for 100ft and get back on the trail. This will take you out to the river bank where you can sit in the sun on a lovely lawn with a few picnic tables and even a pit toilet if you need it. The view is excellent.When you are ready to head back take the trail that heads down river from the grassy lawn. This trail is a bit more rugged, but you can make it! Still a very flat trail, this return trip will take you through the ever changing edge of the woods by the river. The sounds of rushing water lul you into wanting to slow down and admire the varieties of Northwest Giants: Sitca Spruce, Douglas Fir, Western Cedar to name a few. They are all there and have been for many years. These trees are just amazing.Soon you will come to another intersection where you will have various signs. If your ready to head back to the parking lot then head straight, then right, then left. This will take you to the visitor center where they have a wonderful interpretive forest. The state forest has labeled the different types of plants typically found in the PNW.If you are looking for a great place to get out and have a picnic in the woods by a river there is no better place than Federation State Forest.
