This is a private structure. It is a beautiful landmark seen from the trail and tries to be nothing more. It is not open to the public rightfully so because of some unpleasant things that happened in the past. Dont expect to get in or on this castle and do not trespass on private land.

Its a beautiful site. Its disappointing that you cant see it from the inside as it is private property.

It is one of the last riverside castles....its a nice view and a pokemon go gym....meh

Cool little castle tower on the Fox River trail

Its a landmark weve been pedaling past for over 35 years.

Heavily posted “no trespassing” your only view is going to come from the Fox River Trail. The main keep of this decaying castle looks to be about fifty or sixty feet tall. The building is a nice curiosity along the trail. I’d love to get on it and in it.

Cool looking castle-like structure. Unfortunately, its privately owned. On the day we walked there, a person kept pacing back and forth to discourage any attempt to trespass. What a bummer. It would be far better if this place were open to the public, perhaps home to a snack shop or similar. Without the chance to explore the building, its just a ride by.

Ive always enjoyed viewing this! I like the Medieval period. This is unique and theres nothing like it in the suburbs.

How often do you get to see an itty bitty Castle. It feels a lot older.

Kept clean and presentation wise......amazing. Cute little cattle hidden by the river. Going for a walk or jog is available since the fox trail is right next to it.

I love castles. Large, small, dont matter. I wish there was more info available. Lived in Elgin 28 years now and still love to stop and look at it every time i walk the trail.

Beautiful stop with historic information on the castle. Its just off of the bike trail so its a perfect stop to make.

A medieval castle not very well known by Elgin residents, but well worth the Trek. Nearest Landmark is a very well used bike path.
