Amazing trail, a little more than 3 Miles each way. Even well marked paths for the first part, but gets a little rougher the closer you get to the actual Mines.Fantastic experience, with a large mine easily visible and a smaller one that goes below it.Amazing time, and a must see for anyone who lives here in El Paso.TURN RIGHT AT THE MUNDYS GAP SIGN (pictured on my review.)

About 1.25 hour hike from the parking lot. Worth the trip. Bring flashlights and head lamps if you really want to explore the mine.

A must see. One of the best hiking trails here in El Paso.

Lengthy hike, mostly easy incline. Recommend you have a hiking app that can help you navigate, especially at the end of the trail where its not well defined (can easily veer off the trail if youre not careful)

A cool old place to explore. Unfortunately, theyre covered in graffiti and litter. Theyre not well marked on the trails to get there, but not too hard to hike to (approx 3 miles from Chuck Heinrich Memorial Park).

Easy and wide trail until the last 200yds. Hard and loose gravel throughout the whole trail and many other trails too. Tricky to see the actual entrances from the main trail but the GPS location is accurate. There are two spots to enter the mines and those are the only two exits so you cant really get lost. Furthest back is only a couple hundred yards. Bring a flashlight if you are going into deep into the mines. About 3.5 miles from Chuck Heinrich Park.

Great, easy hike! Make sure you go in the bottom door to the mine as well as the top.

Fun hike, not too bad for beginners. It would be nice that at the end of the road before you have to turn that there be a sign that says, towards Tin Mine. You have to turn right to go to tin mine, left to Mundy Pass. It just says Mundy Pass.

Online it says this is an easy trail but i would consider it moderate...the trail has more rocks on the trail to have to walk on than sand, and once you get to the mines its unclear as to what you are looking at exactly inside the mines due to the darkness. The 6.6 mile there and back is guaranteed to give you a good workout

Great hiking! Awesome views, lots to see up there!! You can usually go into the Tin mine a little ways (bring flashlights!) from 2 different entrances, and it is awesome to see. The view down the mountain is pretty incredible too! Long hike, so be prepared with water and maybe snacks. Well traveled, on weekends there will be other hikers and plenty of cyclists. Be sure to check out the nearby remains of the smelter and TB hospital. Also, randomly, the rusted hull of a 1964 Dodge van crashed down below it.... The entrance to the mine, and some of the tunnels, are very short, so watch your head.

Its a gradual incline and pretty rocky at some points. Towards the end the incline gets a little steeper as you are approaching the mines. It is a great 6.6 mile round trip hike, I enjoyed it very much. It got super windy so be careful. Take hiking sticks, they are super helpful in maintaining your balance if you slip on a rock slide. Take water as it gets hot and no shade until you arrive at the mines. Also dont forget your flashlights as it is very dark in the mines and you dont want to leave without exploring.

Awesome experience. I recommend you to take the trail that departs from Chuck Heinrich memorial park. If you try to make it from the state park location it will take you more time. At the beginning you might think theres no trail but walk towards left and you will see the path. Its easy at the beginning since is flat. Only consider sunblock and hats since theres no shades to cover you from the sun. At the end of the trail you will find the mines on your left we enter thru a path that says scenic view or something like that, honestly i wish there were more signs thats the only thing I didnt like, they are quite visible from a nearby distance though. It took us 3 hours to go and come in a windy day. the mines at the end of the trail were the best part. There are two entrances to the mines take both. Flashlights needed.

This was my first time exploring the Tin Mines at Chuck H. Memorial. The hike there is a pretty easy walk for most of the way, and the mines are so much fun exploring. Highly recomended. Dont forget to bring a lamp.

We started at Chuck Heinrich Memorial Park. There is no signs or markings to where to start or how to get to the Tin Mines. No maps, no benches or big rocks where to sit during the whole hike, no trash bins and no portable restrooms. We started on the North east and ended up on the west side of El Paso. We followed the sign the said Old Tin hike trail, there was one at the start and one at the end. A few other hike trail names. Nowhere said follow here to the Mines, so we didn’t get to see them. After a horrible experience, sunburnt and no Mines we went back. No desire to go back. I’ve hiked many mountains and canyons in New Mexico and California. They all had markings, maps, signs, benches, and even portable restrooms when distances where very stretched. Franklin mountain is one of my favorite to look from a distance. Very disappointed the state and municipalities haven’t make it hiker friendly after so many years.

I remember when they were still mining it. Before the concrete cage, metal cat walks, the bats in the spring (not sure with the trash thrown their direction). Swimming in the bottom mine to the left (when filled with water). You take a picture in front of one of the entrances might noticed its not clear. Cause your not alone. Funny though when there are too many people, it doesnt stick around. Still a good hike with family.

This is an interesting spot to visit if hiking the Franklin Mountains from Chuck Heinrich Park. The site is very rustic with some crude entry points and tunnels. There are not any signs or other markers to assist with finding or interpreting the site.

This place is beautiful in every aspect of it. Making your way there, on the first tin mine, the one you cant enter. There is a abandoned city construction thingy and abandoned car wreck. It looks like one of those history Mysteries and Abandoned documentary settings. The tin mines are frightening and eire. There is a tunnel where you turn off the lights and its completely pitch black.Though, if you take the long route from the NorthWest side of El Paso. I wouldnt recommend it for kids. Its tiring and the warm steaming sun made the children sweat. In the trail you must be prepared with a lot of waters, food and etc. I recommend this trip for early pre-teens or teenagers.

Unique experience for a short trip within city limit. Under developed spot but worth visiting. You must be physically able to trek the side of the mountain to be able to access the mine. Bring flash light and be mindful of snakes.

This trail is awesome but long! Be warned !Please make sure and always be aware of your surroundings, bring plenty of water and a small snack too :)The total hike to the mine is about an hour and a half roughly or two. Total trail is completed in 4 hours back and fourth, Please dont leave your trash behind!!!! This isnt your house ;P Be respectful and be careful with rattlesnakes
