We love to take our husky boy here, its well maintained, and although I was a little skeptical with the area beforehand Ive never ever had an issue. There are a lot of homeless people who chill in the front of the park, but if you arent bothering them then they wont bother you. Other pet owners are respectful and typically youll have a good conversation if you choose to have one. We have never had any issues and I think its a great family area that is local

Im a regular at this park. I soend a great amount of time just relaxing in the grass. Others may have a negative perception of the park but seeing as how I know approximately 80% of the people here and how they act and behave, i cant hate on them cuz they are like family.

Great Park for the Furry Kids. Three different areas. Small dogs, Big dogs and Agility area. Everyone was so nice and mindful of their pets. The park has a huge homeless population. I was not concerned about the homeless. They were friendly and stayed at the front of the park. For the amount of homeless the park was pretty clean. I would definitely go again.

The Dog park is top notch. Most people there with their dogs are great. But you kinda have to be a good person to be an animal lover.I do have to warn you that the homeless population in the parking lot and part of the park is outrageous. However the dog park is in the back of the park and is well lit. I have never felt threatened or unsafe while in the dog park itself.

Love the fact that there are separate dog pens for us to choose from! We recently started taking our dogs here, so far only at night. Theres a bunch of homeless people who camp out through the night which doesnt bother us really. They keep to themselves and so do we :) Overall our pups love it here and hopefully soon we can make it during the day time to enjoy this place just as much.

Its a nice enough little park, with three separate dog parks (small dog, regular dog, and agility training). Went there to meet a friend with her dog.But the park itself is a little bit run down and has a fairly strong transient population, as many parks do.I dont know what its like after dark, but it was an enjoyable way to spend an afternoon with a friend.

I come here to train at the outdoor calisthenics gym. They have a pull up bar, dips, leg raise, crunches bench and other equipment. The place is quite and there is a paved walking trail. There is a dog park and kids area. No issues with the dogs. The parking lot lately has been well maintained and clean. Sometimes you see few homeless people and other times more of them. I see cops taking a tour around and leave every now and then. No problems so far. So I keep coming back. Hence, the 4 stars instead of 5.I sometimes talk to other people doing workouts and they are friendly and get me motivated. The location of the park is convenient to restaurant, grocery stores, and the highway.I wish they can put more calisthenics bars and equipment.

I REALLY love this dog park. The best in S.D. Only drawback is maintenance. There has been broken PVC pipes that makes puddles in the big dog park which in turn is very bad for the dogs to drink out of. The nightime lights have been out at the small dog park since fall of last year. There is only one light from the baseball field to depend on. We need our El Cajon higher tax dollars to be a bit more efficent for safety factors and playtime. But all in all, great dog park.

Wells Park is a small, uncomplicated city park in El Cajon. There are several types of ball fields and room to run or jog. Large, fenced leash-free dog parks for small & large dogs sit a short walk from the free parking lot. Dozens of pet lovers are to be found there. The Park is recently the subject of a political battle, defined by a new local law that makes it illegal to feed homeless residents who tend to gather near the parking area.

The dog park is the best in San Diego that I have been too so far. Three large fenced in areas: 1 small dogs, 1 Large dogs, & an agility course. The park does have fields and a base ball field. A play ground and an out door workout equipment area. There is homeless activity, make sure you lock your cars, but other wise I feel safe.

I go here almost EVERY day ! I love it I’ve met tons of amazing fur parents and my dog couldn’t enjoy all the company more. There’s 3 separate parts to the park to avoid altercation such as “big dog part” “small dog part “ and the “agility course “ . This park is outstanding the only thing that could make it better is if the few people with aggressive dogs would leave the public fun to the dogs who can handle it.

Caution: Hooligans! From 4 PM to 7 PM is when the park reaches its climax! Its a wonderful place to bring children, play sports, and even hang out with signficant others. I cant complain about the Homeless as they usually mind their own business and havent bother my experience in the park thus far. However, I would like to warn everyone that there have been several occasions in the morning when gang bangers (or at least wannabes) show up stoned and/or drunk out of their minds and they have threatened my safety several times. They could be armed, so dont confront them! When its safe, call 911 immediately!

The dog park is decent, there are separate areas for big dogs and small dogs and also a space for a puppy parkour. There is some tables to sit at, grass and some large shade trees. The biggest downside to this park is having to walk all the way through the park past the homeless community... It can be less than pleasant experience since they are frequently cursing and screaming at each other...

There was a Muslim woman who brought her to Chows that were vicious and attacked my dog. She brought a whole chicken to feed to her dogs then left the chicken on the bench while she walks to the water fountain to give her dogs a drink. My dog got interested in her food and when I told her that I was concerned that my dog would get her food she said it was okay. I told her it was not okay because I dont allow my dog to eat human food. She wouldnt pick up her dogs poop. I expressed concern about her dogs being vicious she told me anybody could bring their dogs to the park. This Behavior makes it very discouraging for responsible dog owners to want to come to Wells park. On top of that experience, there were two separate incidences where people were smoking crack. The security didnt do anything. I called the police and the security didnt do anything. What is the solution?

This community park used to be a nice, clean, fun place to take the kids and dog and let them burn off All of their extra energy, but lately it has become really run down with homeless ppl, drug addicts and drug dealers!! I took my 6 year old over there today for a play date, and within a span of 20 minutes, three different ECPD patrol vehicles cruised thru the park, each leaving with at least one or more detainees arrested for who knows what!! This is definitely not a place you want to take your children on a bright summer day, and Especially a place you Would Never want to be after the sun goes down, unless you are professionally trained in self defense!! What a shame, the East County community is really going down hill!!

Wells park in El Cajon is a big open space that is heavily visited by local residents. There are two off off-leash dog parks in there, one for large dogs and one for small dogs. They are usually clean nice Open Spaces. Theres also seating for the owners while they let their dogs run around. These faces require that your dog be licensed and vaccinated, as to not infect other dogs. And number of homeless people meet in this park for their AA meetings. They are peaceful Gatherings and no one is ever threatening there.

Overall it is a nice park that is focused on families with small children and people who love their dogs and want them to be able to socialize and play with other dogs leash free. Its big and spread out enough. But when the sun is setting it suddenly becomes something else. Its focus is only on the homeless who seem to converge and takeover the parking lot. Ive never seen it change so suddenly. Its not exactly pleasing to the eye. It makes that part of the neighborhood look dangerous and not safe. I know the homeless have to have a place to go at night but not where children play.
