Very cool nature preserve with Blue Heron overlook where youll see these huge birds by the dozens. Its magical
Glennstone Preserve is a small nature preserve managed by Ellerbe Creek Watershed Association in the Glennstone subdivision. Its open to the public, but no parking lot. You can park on Glennstone Drive in front of the gazebo. Several short trails wind through the preserve, leading down to Ellerbe Creek and to an interesting car graveyard with a whole bunch of old cars and buses. Definitely not something you expect to find in the woods.
Fairly nice nature preserve.Pros:The car graveyard talked about in one of the previous reviews is amazing. (Directions take honeysuckle path, left onto tributary trail, then right onto ellerbe creek trail then left at red equal signs).Trails are nice. And for being a small perserve their is plenty of walking to be done.Cons:No parking. The entrance is in a community so you have to park on the street. It is surrounded on two sides by a neighborhood and some of the houses are using the woods as their own personal junk yard.
Needs to be remodeled, would be a great little fishing pond if they ever worked on it
Its an awesome cool place to go to and relax, swim, and even fish.
There is a great car grave yard down an unofficial path. I wish I had better direction, but we came down the regular path and turned left at the double red lines (like red equal signs) that were on the trees. After less than half a mile, there were old school buses that gave way to some amazing classic cars. It was really cool.
Nice but a little bit crowded for the holiday
Great place to hike and walk my dog, very convenient place to visit from Durham. Trail map available and nice trails to walk.
Tranquil and peaceful woods with great access to the lower Ellerbe Creek and rookery.
Peaceful Trails through the woods to a a lovely heron rookery or to walk by the creek
