Awesome short 3 plus mile trail to ride your MTB. Quick step inclines majority dirt gravel mix
Fun! Trail users are respectful of others and all wore masks. Will use it again next time we are in Durham.
This is a smaller parking area for the Al Buehler (Duke) Trail. 5k gravel loop with some challenging hills and an optional shorter “fitness loop”. Masks currently required during C19.
This is one of my favorite places for short runs in Durham.
2.91 mile (+.50) loop. A classic.PATH: Gravel with some dirt + minimal root overgrowth. Wide enough for 4 astride. Rolling hills with two moderately steep but brief climbs.OBSTACLES: None. Sometime poor drainage after rain.PARKING: 24/7 off Cameron Blvd between Erwin Rd and Science Dr.OVERALL: Super pleasant almost 3 miler with an optional 1/2 mile loop extension through the fitness loop. Walking distance of Duke Campus
Amazing Place to run, So relaxing and the way they made this course, Is amazing . Im going there everyday ️
Great place to get your 3 miles done. Would recommend bringing a friend if you go at later times because it is quite secluded inside the trail and youll find yourself alone sometimes
As another reviewer stated this is not really called “Duke Trail”. It is the “Al Buehler Trail” . Duke Forest has many trails, so don’t get confused. This is a nice trail; has a wide sandy path (great for dogs), nice views of the Duke University Golf Course, and unfortunately views of Route 501/15.The parking lot is small, but not terrible, read the signs, it should be larger, do to the large student population we saw on the trail. If you walk there or ride a bike it would be better.
Fun, hilly trail with very few tree roots. This is an excellent trail for a nice, 3-mile run. The trail is shaded throughout and looks over the golf-course in some areas. During the week, the trail doesnt get too crowded. The only downside is the number of Duke fans present.... GO HEELS :)
Best place to get a good walk and exercise. Very peaceful.
Great 3mil distance with some hills. Footing can be a bit uneven and you should watch out for copperheads but that adds to the fun.
Its a 3 mile loop and great for running/walking and I have seen people walking their dogs too. Relatively crowded and like any trail can be muddy at times but very pretty and you can find some birdwatching spots too
Always a good place to walk, run, or catch up with a friend!
I love this place around this time!
Ive been running/walking trail since mid 70s...its still, by far, the most fun and challenging trail around Triangle area.
This is not called Duke Trail. It is called the Al Buehler Trail, honoring the legendary track coach who was at the forefront of making it possible for people of all ethnicities and skin colors to participate in sports at the collegiate level in North Carolina. Google him. And remember
Pretty good, heavily trafficked on Labor Day
I love this walk. Great scenery nice inclines, and drinking fountains.
Among the best and most reliable three mile runs in North Carolina.
Perfect for anyone wanting a safe, challenging way of getting back into shape!
Ive been walking this trail off and on for 20 plus years and it is the best trail in the area far as safety. It’s a beauty trail with nice wide paths, well maintain, beautiful scenery and some challenging hills but not too steep. BUT, now there is virtually no where to park! It has one small...I mean, really small, parking lot that holds about 15 cars. This is a very popular trail and I know parking anywhere at Duke is scarce, but couldn’t they expand the parking lot? If someone knows of another parking areas that is legal, please let me know.
Great trails with diverse terrain
Theres not a lot of options for parking, but the trail itself is wonderful! There is a lot of different scenery and is a good workout
Nice place to get your walk or jogging on at.
3.7 mile loop through the woods, a favorite for workouts.
Work out and feel great.
Built-in interval training.... No matter what your level of fitness.
Great place, limed scooter through here
This is my favorite place to do excersize
One of my favorite places to run and hike.
Loved getting up on Friday mornings and hiking this trail loop. People can be seen walking or running depending on where you are on the trail. Its a hidden gem of a hike. It does get steep at certain parts of the trail so it might not be the best for begginers however a great workout and lots of great views!
Its a good challenge for beginners!
You get what you came for. Trail, trail, and more trail.
Hills and ice today.
So nice and pretty!
Great!!!
Love this place
