Very disappointed. We were visiting Dunedin as we are from out of state. Our daughter loves science and art museums and was excited to see this museum. Turns out that you must be a member to see the childrens museum and at that the childrens section was only open from 3-4pm.
BeautifulFree parking$10 admissions for adultsChild stroller and wheel chair accessibleSmall cafe located near entrance. Coffee, tea, bottled water, sandwiches, quiche, crepes. The gift shop sells hand made jewelry by local artists . Some of the jewelry is made from recycled materials. I saw womens scarfs made from bamboo string, pottery and books. There is seating areas threw out the Art Center.Light walking, everything is located on ground level (no stairs).Expect to stay 30 minutes to an hour and a half.Amazing staff and volunteers, very friendly and welcoming.
Great display of work from local students and adult artists!
5 Exhibits going on at once with a wonderful variety of styles and mediums. A relaxing environment and very helpful staff!
Fantastic. Beautiful facility, lots to do, the kids activities are perfect.
Have enjoyed eating there prolly 25 times now! Took a nice class in Collage creating with six others and all were happy with the helpful and talented instructor. Will sign up for drawing next! Beautiful exhibits go on all year.
As of August 2020:Gallery Shop & Palm Cafe: CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICEDMC Childrens Museum: CLOSED UNTIL SEPTEMBERNOT OPEN ON WEEKENDS until further notice,See dfac.org for updated hours and services.
Love the programs but it can be confusing to find the right door sometimes. On my first day of pottery I went in the front door and walked in on a wedding I asked an employee at the front desk if pottery started today and if so where and I was told that it wasnt today. I went back to my car and on my way out saw some people entering through a back door i asked them and they said this was the entrance to the pottery.
This is the Tampa Bays best kept secret. If youre looking for an alternative to the expensive Tampa Bay Arts Museum, then Dunedin Fine Arts Center is the place. Its free, and the staff is amazing.
Me and my family tried going to see my art on display there and every time we went it was closed for an event. I never got to see my art and it’s no longer on display :/
They need to have 2 judges or more per show. Plus if you have themed show you need to pick winners that that actually fit the show. Ive been doing shows for 40 years having 1 judge means they just get to pick what they like not what is great.
Much better than past few years. Many new artists. I mainly go to see all the dogs people bring.
Nice quaint place. The childrens play area is well worth the visit. They had beautiful quilt exposition when I was visiting. Truly amazing artwork.
Everything about this art center is fabulous: The studios and classes, the childrens center, the displayed artwork, the cafe, the location, the employees. A very pleasant way to spend the day.
My children have attended art classes as well as summer camp here. I cannot say enough good things about the programs, or the staff. A brilliant way to ensure your children are receiving the well-rounded education they deserve!
This museum has, according to my kids and I agree, an epic childrens engagement center with art supplies, iPads, building blocks, and a performance space. The exhibits were so impressive as well, especially the sculputures. Ive rarely wanted to purchase fine art before, but some of them moved me and I could see why people do. A pretty nice gift shop too, and fries dly staff. We will come again when next in the area.
The beginners ceramic throwing class is horrible! Do not take this peice of course. The instructor does not teach you anything but want to chat with people. No introduction or tour where supplies were kept, no instruction, no nothing! You are left on your own to figure it out for yourself. The room is a safety hazard! I wanted to take a course to have a creative outlet in another art discipline and just left the class more frustrated asking strangers what to do next! Believe me, i am a graduate of fine arts and this is truly the most dissappointing course ever!
I have been a student and am also an instructor at the Dunedin Fine Art Center. In both cases, I cant praise DFAC and its staff enough. The quality of art education that you receive is unparalleled. The facility is amazing and has now expanded to a second floor. If you want to see beautiful art, or learn a discipline in art, you dont need to look further than the Dunedin Fine Art Center.
Great place for Creative StART! The students should be so proud!
Toured today, very impressive facility offering adult and youth classes. Looking forward to attending upcoming events!!!Simply beautiful!!!!
I was very impressed with how well and organized they are especially with all the children attending art camp.
Todd was very rude. We have decided not to go here ever again. The place itself was cool, but not Todd.
I loved this place cause its so kid friendly and theres even a museum with 1-5 kid drawings... One of them is me cause i go to clay classes there (name : Ruby )
Love the place, theres even a picture of me on the website haha
Very good, one-time event. USF director.
Im now a snowbird and have never been artistic or joined anything. I came to Dunedin to recover from a severe heart issue. My Aunt dragged me over to DFAC to get me out doing something. From the very first person there I spoke with I have had nothing but positive interactions.I am from the Adirondack Mountains of NYS and have lived in the woods my whole life. I run a campground and do all the work to maintain it.My aunt knew I collected knives and made handles. She saw they had a bladesmith class and I stepped out if my safety zone and agreed to sign up.The bladesmith Ken Straight is amazing! He saw my passion for knives and went the extra mile for me. Ive since made two knives with him. Best expirence of my life! I also have met Bill Coleman from the metal arts shop. He to is an amazing man with a passion for metal. He exudes great passion for what he teaches and does there. These people all are remarkable to work with. Ill be back! I highly recommend them all!
