Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve

Nobody is on the same page with COVID protocols or their facility policies. Ask three different staff members the same question and you’ll get three different responses. I went to the gym six days in a row working out in sandals with no problem and other people working out in sandals. The sixth day some staff member on his high horse tells me I can’t work out because I don’t have closed toe shoes. I can’t even relax at the beach or the pool because there are people telling you to wear a mask when walking from your car to the beach and the pool. But once you get your seat then you’re allowed to wear your mask while walking around? That makes a lot of sense... You ask one person to rent equipment and they say it’s free, the next person says it costs money or they’re not renting at this time. When you’re paying this much money for a 5 star resort they should do more to feel comfortable and get on the same page. I will not be coming back.

Nice Hotel Right off the beach some suites you have your on private pool which was great. The staff was great during this pandemic COVID-19 Puerto Rica make sure you get test 72 hours showing proof of negative results before you the leave the airport which is great. I had great time in Puerto Rica and the ocean water was great so relaxing and it was just my family and I on the beach with the staff serving us.

What can you truly say about a Ritz reserve services on believable attention to detail is spot on and the place is gorgeous as it is every time. Can’t wait to come back and there’s always stay safe and a grand Muchas Gracias to the entire team

The entire experience truly exceeded all of our expectations from the time we were picked up at the airport. The staff was very accommodating and professional. The rooms were exceptionally spacious and the views were incredible. My husband and I will definitely be back.

The property was hands down one of the most gorgeous ones we have visited, and our one bedroom with private pool was nothing short of amazing. The spa is one of the finest in the world! The only downside is that the reserve must of had reduced staff - twice our room service was delayed well over an hour (dinner over 2 hours), with each delay we never received a curtesy call letting us know, a few food/beverage orders were completely missed, the restaurant service was slow at times, our room was not restocked one of the days, and there was no where close to purchase toiletries (their “market” was closed).

COA restaurant is very highly recommended. Great food and service is too notch!! Tiffany was just amazing in her recommendations and making us feel comfortable.

Everything about this place is five stars.. The grounds, The location, The service, The food. The view.. The list goes on and on. perfectly executed. Most definitely lives up to the name The Ritz Carlton Reserve

This stay was absolutely horrible i came last month paid a fortune and decided to come back this month but bring people with me. In these 2 visits i have spent $18,000 yes $18,000. I upgraded twice before arriving. To make sure my family has the most amazing stay possible. And on the second day they tell us we are not allowed to sit on the beach????? They knew a few days before we ariived and hit us with this. Not to mention the whike time asked to speak to a manager and he never had the audacity to speak to me about this. I gelt like they did me wrong. Like they got me good. Not cool. I will never ever ve back at another Ritz Carlton. Please be careful. Not to mentiin they tax for everything i mean everything. This was not a good experience and i wish i never took my daughter here. Not to mention i spent a fortune.

The perfect destination for our first anniversary getaway from NYC. The resort was incredible at every turn. A beautiful property that felt incredibly private and relaxing. The accommodations were wonderful. The staff was amazingly friendly and remembered our names each day and details about our trip. The spa was an amazing experience, with breathtaking amenities and a great massage.Close proximity to San Juan airport made travel easy and we were able to spend all the time we wanted relaxing by the pool or on the beach. We will be recommending to all of our friends and family.

My family goes to Dorado every year and every year we stay here. Every single time our stay is perfect. There is so much to do, the food is amazing, and theres perfect access to San Juan, where theres more to explore. My family has an amazing time every year. The beaches are beautiful, the service is amazing, the water park is a family favorite, and everything is flawless. Something I particularly love about the resort is that if youre staying in the plantations, you get a golf cart to drive around the resort and if you stay in the hotel, your family gets bikes. The island, in general, is beautiful and every time we stay at Dorado Beach, we are incredibly relaxed and happy. I would recommend to anyone looking for an amazing, family-friendly, and relaxing vacation!

The experience is first class from the moment you arrive. The suites with plunge pool are great and only a ten foot walk to the beachThe restaurants serve farm to table food. The bar is fun and vibrant. However, its the amazing open air spa and fabulous service. Imagine finishing your massage with pulling a rope that releases a barrel of water cascading over you. It is a true experience!

We had an incredible experience at this property! The rooms and grounds are incredible (stay on the East side for privacy and the views!), but the service is what blew us away. The staff goes over and beyond to make your stay memorable. For those that dont know, you are assigned an ambassador that is attentive to whatever needs you have during your stay (dinner reservations, housekeeping needs, property advice, etc.). The resort offers a perfect combination of active and relaxing options. The spa and fitness center are both great. The breakfast buffet at Coa is amazing and we enjoyed all of the restaurants (Coa and Positivo were our favorites. We never left the property during our 5 night stay. This was truly one of, if not the best, places weve ever visited.

The property itself is beautiful - pools, spa, beach. The service was terrible. Everything we asked for either took forever or was wrong. Guest night they said they’d be back with extra pillows, never arrived. Room service took almost 2 hours. Food served incorrectly or missing over and over. Given how much we paid (15k) we were pretty disappointed. Wouldn’t return.

Attended a wedding over the weekend at the venue Su Casa. I am unsure where the line was drawn between the brides vision vs the venue. Everything was perfection!

This place gets it.We were greeted immediately and shown to our room by Miguel. As we settled in, he made dinner reservations for us (with the most romantic table in the restaurant) and when we returned to our room, a HOT bath with rose pedals was ready and waiting for us! The food and the service at this Ritz is outstanding. Just wow.

Amazing property.Went to dinner at COA and can’t wait to be back. The branzino was the best branzino I’ve had to date. It was cooked to perfection, didn’t even need sauce. They have some kind of special oven for it! I highly recommend. The restaurant is priced very well.

I love Dorado! It’s my 4th visit, and it never disappoints. The rooms are beautiful, the grounds are immaculate, the plunge pool jacuzzi is amazing, and the omakase on the beach might be the best part!

I am currently staying at Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve for a beautiful wedding. I frequent Puerto Rico, but have never stayed at the Ritz-Carlton, I can truly say it is an incredible experience. The entire resort, grounds, suites, pools, and venues are all spectacular. This is the true definition of a vacation. I feel it is necessary to take a moment to thank everyone at this resort for their dedication and hospitality. The staff has gone above and beyond to make sure we have everything we need. I personally would like to thank both of the managers here for all their assistance, loss prevention staff, and Patricia from the front desk. You all have truly set a new standard of hospitality in my eyes. Thank you.

Golf course was astonishing. The price for military is unbelievable! See for yourself

Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserved was a magical place to celebrate our anniversary (and my wifes birthday). The grounds and rooms are beautiful, the service absolutely impeccable, and the food/drinks delicious (and pricey!). Weve traveled far and wide in the Caribbean and theres no question its one of the very best hotels in the region. Thanks to all the staff who made our trip perfect.

I had the most blissful time at the reserve. The property was immaculate. Our room was splendid with the most extraordinary view ever. I loved the staff. Really, they were like dear friends and I truly hope to see them again. I can’t thank them enough for their thoughtfulness, everything from a bottle of rose that was sent to our room to the beautiful birthday cake and balloons to the immediate responses from our embajadors. Thank you! We can’t wait to return.

Our 2 night stay was superb in every way! We had great breakfasts at Coa and great lunches and dinners at Positivo. We also had great service at Encanto. Our only complaint was La Couchina kept running out of sandwiches at 12:00.

I stayed at this property for 4 nights it is beautifully positioned and had a great natural ambiance. Staff was also very nice and attentive.

Every aspect was perfection. I most enjoyed the beautiful staff and thoroughly enjoyed when the culture was shared. I was happy to hear of tainos and authentic Puerto Rican traditions. The grounds are exceptional. Not much nightlife however.

Ive been going to this property for over 25 years, long before RC took it over. Its a very special piece of land with a rich history. I was curious to see how RC changed it, expecting a great hotel but also expecting the character of the land to be diminished. I was half right. The accommodations are magnificent even by RC standards. But the buildings blend into the natural beauty of the property. And the history was respected. Service is impeccable. Restaurants are a delight. We really loved that employees were encouraged to add native dishes and personal family touches and recipes to the menu. The result is a unique combination we never tired of. We had a couple off-property activities planned, but after the first day we blew them off. You wont want to leave. Oh - the golf courses, especially the ocean course, are among my faves in the world. Worth every penny of the price. 5 stars arent enough

A great place to stay if you are visiting Dorado, PR. Great courtesy all around, very clean, excellent dinning experiences at each restaurant visited. There is biking, beach, pool, water park, golf and much more. All of it is great.

His proactive attention to the details was impeccable and allowed our family to focus on having fun!!Besides the incredible customer experience, the physical facilities were also exceptional. The outdoor shower, our plunge pool, as well as the cozy beds were highlights for our family!!We will be return customers to this facility as well as to other facilities under the brand of Ritz-Carlton Reserve!!!

Its a magestic place.

The Dorado Beach Ritz Carlton is paradise perfected. The entire resort is stunning, from the views, to the rooms, to every outlet, it’s just beautiful. The rooms are very well decorated and spacious and a perfect retreat. Every room has an oceanfront view with a balcony and an outdoor shower. We prefer the west beach due to its proximity to the main beach. The food, whole expensive, is very good. The only area that could be improved upon is the f&b service. It’s a little slow upon the initial sitting, but improves once the food has arrived. And also items that are asked for are not always delivered on the first ask. But we will return, as it’s really a piece of heaven.

Amazing experience! Must see and stay at this resort. Check out Encanto restaurant- the quality of food and service is unmatched. Try Chorus for desert- its the BEST ever. The property is beautiful and the staff is great at making the guests feel 120% comfortable and satisfied. Room services was GREAT too--very punctual and very satisfying. Eating in your room while at Dorado Beach feels as good as eating at a 5-star restaurant. I hope you get the same Embajador Team Andrea, Nicole and Rob!! They are simply amazing- it seemed like they knew exactly what we needed and when we needed it. Always on top of their game and most pleasant! And please be good to yourself and try the SPA. Ive done spas at a lot of highly-rated resorts and I can honestly say that Dorado Beach Spa is unmatched! I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

Service and luxury at the highest level. Their horticulturalists are phenomenal. 2000 acres is a lot of ground to maintain and its stunning.

If you ever want to experience puerto rico and relax this is your place to go. of course I know it is a little pricy but i would do it over and over again. it gives you so much that what you paid is all worth it. people who works at ritz treat you like royalty you feel like you land in your own castle. they are there for you 24 hours i enjoy being able to text my request to my embajador at all times they assign assistance for you at all times. the property was a dream come true everything looked so beautiful and clean, i woke up at a little before 6am everyday and they start cleaning up at that time. you dont even feel them working around unless you see them. they gave us bikes and i was able to take my baby in the back cart they provided for me. the bike ride was beautiful and we also were able to view the whole property on a golf car. i went to the spa one day though i did feel the spa didnt give me the whole time that i paid of i felt my service cut short but im guessing they always give you less minutes for your session. over all i will definitely return to the property and do things that i missed which was the waterpark and some water sport adventures in the property.

Excellent location for a romantic and relaxing getaway. The plunge pool is everything! Great staff and the grounds are impeccable. Be sure to ask for a tour of grounds. If you like seafood, try Positivo - its great! Enjoy drinks and live music at COA. If you want authentic Puerto Rican food, try Metropol which is a few minutes away via Uber. Its a chain restaurant but the food is exceptional.

We have traveled the world. Nothing compares to Dorado Beach. We stayed here in June of 2017. It will forever be closest to my heart. Truly magical.

Everything was superb. I did call for room service to clean the room. No one did show up.

Cannot say enough nice things about the Ritz-Carlton Reserve. Truly a special experience. My entire family loved our time there and we look forward to coming back. Just an FYI, the spa is magnificent and my facial with Elizabeth was tops!

Service is impeccable. Whatever you need you can get at anytime. Beautiful rooms, beautiful resort. Only thing we didnt like was pool closed at 7pm. We liked to swim after dinner but had no time.

This is a beautiful hotel- one of the most beautiful I’ve seen.However, shockingly, their staff stole my favorite dress. A female staff member saw me in this dress, and then stole it later that day. This wasn’t an issue of my misplacing it- I never left the resort and it went missing during our stay- and it wasn’t an accidental mixup with the sheets. I’ve never had this happen at any hotel before or since. Honestly pretty unbelievable that a hotel this nice would have thieves on staff.So, if you’re a guest, be careful with your things. Maybe lock up your clothes in your suitcase. Especially if it’s nice.

Exquisite food, relaxed beachfront atmosphere.

This is a beautiful resort with amazing service. We enjoyed every aspect of the resort as much as we could. I would be careful going during the off-season as the hours of operation at some restaurants and facilities are reduced. We had a couple of inconveniences because of it but it didnt spoil our experience. I would just suggest asking the desk (or they should provide changes) about any adjustments to the hours of restaurants, fitness centers and other facilities.

This resort will make every second of your stay the best of it. Believe me you see your money worth here. Staff is beyond amazing, I don’t think there is a request they can deny to you lol. Food, beverages and snacks are great as well. The resort is so big I couldn’t had the chance to take a look to all of it, but every place I was was beautiful.

From the welcome popsicle, to the warmest of welcomes, Dorado Beach delivers. Everyone is so friendly and they remember your name and preferences. The bicycles with our names engraved as a license plate were a nice touch and the twice a day housekeeping service was a plus to keep us in towels, water, etc. We enjoyed all our meals at Dorado Beach from breakfast at Coa to lunch at either Positive, Encanto, Cos, and dinners at Coa or Encanto. The beach was clean and the attendants kept us refreshed with cold water in an ice bucket, towels, suntan lotion, etc. and a beeper to call them when needed. no request was too much trouble for any of the staff. We hated to leave such a wonderful and beautiful property. This ranks as not with the best but the best. Well be back.

From the moment you step out of your vehicle, you know you are in a special place. The grounds are incredibly beautiful, the staff is happy, professional & attentive, the rooms are amazing. If you like a warm, tranquil beach, refreshing & perfectly placed pools with a staff member to help meet all your needs youve found it. My husband rates the golf course top 3 he has played. Food & drinks are delicious. Gym is awesome. Bikes are so fun! Our two familys that stayed, combined, had seven kids. They loved it, but could have used a few more food & beverage choices. I loved the food.

Beautiful property with great beaches. Only negative was that there were only few restaurants to choose from on property. But still gets a 5 star rating.

With busy schedules sometimes it is hard to find time to get away. Dorado Beach is easy to get to and was 4 days of bliss. From the moment you arrive, it is beautiful and peaceful. The spa is AMAZING. The bikes are a fun way to get outside and see the beautiful property. We ate at all the restaurants and would be hard pressed to pick a favorite as the food and service are great at all of them. The Positivo Sand Bar menu is also available at the beach which is a great way to enjoy good food and some drinks while soaking up on the sun. The staff are friendly and helpful. The Ritz at Dorado Beach is a truly special place.

This is a beautiful property with all the amenities. We stayed here a couple years back for our anniversary it did not disappoint. Our room was right on the beach with our own plunge pool and it was amazing. The food on property is really good and the staff are great. Would definitely recommend.

We had the most wonderful time at the resort! Not only was it beautiful but it was impeccably well-maintained, and every detail was thoughtful and considered. The Ritz has woven together the natural beauty of the local reserve with modern design for a result that is both serene and stunning.The service was amazing, from the ambassadors to housekeeping, pool and beach servers and spa. The spa was worth every penny -- the treehouse massage was so unique, but come early for the hot tub, plunge pool and sauna. We cant wait to come back!

This is the most beautiful property you will ever find. The service is above and beyond. I never write reviews, but I felt I had to after our visit. We stayed on West Beach in a first floor plunge pool suite that walked right out to the beach. Words cant describe how fantastic this entire resort is. I cant wait to go back.

The hotel is spectacular. Uncrowded uwith everything you want. Really enjoyed the large room with our very own pool. Watched the water all afternoon and listened to the surf as we slept. Coa is a great restaurant. Family asked to stay one more night. Success!I will be back.

This is our second visit to this property. Room has great views of the ocean. Service was very attentive with text messaging. Loved outdoor shower. Very large infinity pools. Food was superb. Bike trail around the property is about 4 miles. Loved the bikes!!

When you charge what they are charging at the Reserve you set yourself up for criticism. Were there minor fails service wise? Absolutely. But it is the people and the unbelievable beauty of this property that make it a six star experience. Not one picture I have seen does this property justice. We traveled as a family with an eight and five year old. We have been fortunate to stay at some great properties but this one was perfect. We would have already booked for next year but that week is not available to book yet. Please understand that this property was shut down for more than a year so they are still working out some minor kinks, but cmon people some of the complaints are ridiculous. The one person I would point out would be Mr. Sotelo himself ( I am assuming this was him). The GM of the hotel was all over the place from greeting us breakfast, to picking up towels at the beach, to telling my kids they were doing a great job on the bike to making sure that everything was running smoothly. His presence was felt and from someone who works in the high end service business it was amazing to see how hard he was working to get his team all on the same page. My only suggestion when comparing to places like FS Orlando, FS Costa Rica, FS Punta Mita would be to have a more open format of a kids club as it would have been nice for the kids to be able to drop in on a daily basis to help breakup the day and get them out of the sun. They have a beautiful facility for the kids and for the money we paid it would have been nice to have more programs included in the daily rate. Other than that, the food was amazing especially for a resort (I believe we hit every restaurant) and I cant express how GORGEOUS this property really is. I mean where else can you not worry about your kids in the ocean cause a barrier was built to break the waves far from shore? I mean ITS AMAZING! I would suggest like others have mentioned to make reservations for dinner ahead of time cause they do fill up quickly. Anyway, thanks for an amazing trip and we look forward to seeing you next year; same time same place!

From the moment my (new) husband and I arrived, we knew we had made the best decision. The associates made us feel welcome the moment we drove through the gate. Our room and the view were both outstanding; the food and beverages were excellent; the pool and beach were beautiful; the Spa and its amenities were the best ever; the surrounding area(s) were breathtaking and leaving was the hardest goodbye.

The daily tariff is a little steep - but one has to consider that this is much, much more than just a simple overnight accommodation. This is an awesome resort with many great activities and opportunities to enjoy. Our experience was first class all the way and everything exceeded our expectations. The rooms are exceptional - and the outside shower was a highlight! The grounds and tropical foliage were awesome. The bicycles provided to each guest were a hit with my group and we used them repeatedly. The service was exquisite. We all hated to leave.

The resort is amazing. Not only are the pools, villas, food, spa and activities top notch but the service is unbelievable. Upon arrival you get assigned an Embajador. This person will make sure you are all set with any type of reservations you may need. Very attentive! If you have any questions someone is always available. The waiters/waitresses, the cleaning crew and so on and so on are really nice and helpful.

Spectacular property. We just got back from Easter break and this property is completely renovated and feels brand new post Maria. Highly recommend spending the dollars if you are looking for a high end experience. Staying on the West beach is a private VIP experience on one of the nicest beach in the world. Seen a lot of beaches world wide and this cove is crazy nice with its sand and is protected from the rough surf and wind. Stayed in the West Plunge pool room 513 only steps...literally steps from your ocean lounger. If you like to walk the beach....yes. Plenty of room for our family of 5 (kids 11-9-7) with 2 kings and a -lounger. Outdoor space with the room is very comfortable for the family. Water is clear, warm and brown sand is like cream of wheat soft. No fears of this water...rip tides...no..Butler and golf cart service provided to take you to the multiple restaurants on property or a short fun ride away. Windmill water park was a great way to break up the trip for the kids...safe...service good food and drink to your chair. Watersides and lazy river was cool in a unique burned out rough old mill setting. Service was 5 star end to end but that does come with a price $$$ IE we spent a ton on food and drink which came with a little sticker shock and that would be my only minimal concern. But o-well...great family VIP trip and would highly recommend. Thank you to the staff, Big John and others for making our family time together very special.

Great bar for craft cocktails

Wow. I’ve been in many high end resorts, but this place blows my mind. Everything here is perfect and the rooms are amazing with outdoor showers and plunge pool. Personalized service, great food and lots of things to do (biking, beach, tennis, golf) made our trip unforgettable and I can’t wait to get back here.

For some reason Encanto, the Ocean Front Restaurant, closes frequently for 3 days midweek during the High Season.I have never experienced this before anywhere else.The resort is beautiful but management seems out of touch.

The Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve is without question the best resort experience I have had in the Caribbean (and frankly anywhere else). The hotel facilities are beautifully and tastefully done, the rooms are perfectly designed for a relaxing stay, the grounds are incredible, and the staff and service is beyond five star. We eat at every restaurant and had drinks at every bar and every meal and drink was excellent --both in quality and service. My only comment is that I wish they had more local seafood and dishes. But this is a minor issue. Definitely stay at the Dorado Beach if you want a first class Caribbean trip.

Everything about Dorado beach reserve is perfection. Every little touch from the room decor, private plunge pool and outdoor shower, to the private butler service and food. It greatly exceeded my expectations and I will be back soon; this is my new happy spot.

Truly heaven on earth in all ways. Absolutely gorgeous grounds and rooms. Peaceful. Amazing service. Delicious food. Had wanted to come here for years but not super affordable for a family of five. Worth every penny! Loved having the bikes to use whenever we wanted and rolling along with the Atlantic to our left and the beautiful golf greens to our right. The spa was unlike anything we have ever experienced-incredible! Every meal we enjoyed was outstanding (my husband had the fish tacos for lunch three days in a row-they were THAT good), and the service at the pool and beach was spot-on (daily treats-warm chocolate chip cookies one day and smoothies the next!) I cannot say enough great things about this gem of a place.

The staff serve with their hearts on their sleeve and go beyond anything I’ve ever seen. I hope management recognizes they are truly the heart of the place.

This hotel was disappointing and often very frustrating. It’s good to check the lower quality and more current reviews (post re-opening) on TripAdvisor before going. Frankly, I didn’t think that I had to do that with a Ritz, especially a Ritz Carlton Reserve.The positives:1. The physical attributes of the hotel are great: the landscaping is pretty, the beach is nice, pools are well done. 2. Restaurant food was good.3. Golf course was well maintained, beautiful.4. Spa was beautiful/great service. The negatives:1. The rooms are a little institutional for such a high end hotel. The rooms have an outdoor shower but other than that, they look like a normal Ritz, not what I what would have thought for the price. 2. The main issue with the hotel is that it has too few people in many areas and substantially all of the those are insufficiently trained. Service levels were poor: numerous mistakes by butlers, restaurant servers, etc. Housekeeping on almost of the days spent no more than a few minutes on the room, so sheets weren’t changed, garbage wasnt’ removed, etc. No one was there when we returned from golf (6pm). 3. The restaurants have frustratingly long wait times for food and the servers don’t get the orders right. If a person cannot eat an amuse bouche at Coa (their top tier restaurant), then s/he doesn’t get anything. 4. The GM didn’t return calls (nor anyone on his behalf).In sum, they were not ready to open, and don’t seem to be worth the extra cost.

A traveler simply cannot do better than the Ritz-Carlton Reserve. Every employee, every hotel facility and every experience was superb. The hotel managements dedication to employee training is evident. Every expectation was met or exceeded.

AMAZING Resort! Beautiful views with great and welcoming staff! Staff members stop what they are doing to make sure guests are receiving the best service possible. The resort has many activities to keep everyone entertained. My husband and I will definitely be returning and bringing our son along. Paradise!!

Great views

The hotel is beautiful. Its located on a preserve and the property is very well maintained. I stayed for a week in the second floor suite on East Beach. Always request East unless you have children with you. West is more suited for families. All 3 restaurants on property are delicious, however the menus are limited. The pool & beach staff need some training as some days it would take 10-15 mins for anyone to assist me, and it was not busy at all. Room service also needs some work as it claims to be 24hrs and I called several times with no response just after midnight. Same with the front desk Realistically this is a 4 star resort not 5. The pricing reflects that of a 5 star but the service does not meet expectations of other 5 star resorts I have visited. Worth staying at but spend your money else where for food/service as there are plenty of options for better overall value and half the price.

This place is Sick Beautiful. No words to the describe. Its definitely heaven on earth with a stunning beach in front.

What an amazing getaway. I returned for my third time to celebrate my 30th wedding year anniversary and all I can say is that this place is a MUST TRY!Spa is highly recommended. From the moment you arrive to the property you are treated like royalty. Food and beverage was also very upscale and delicious. We had dinner every night on the property and the variety of restaurants is great. The most important part of this review is the SERVICE. The service you receive at this property is something out of this world. They truly go above and beyond to make you feel important and overall relaxed.

As a guest of Dorado Beach in the past, certainly the renovations done in recent years have been outstanding. The service in general the same.
