Waitstaff was very attentive. Music was 90s nostalgic. Crowd was laid back and relaxed. The vegan options were amazing! They had so many that we ordered 2 entrees each in addition to the appetizer. Literally, everything was great. One of the staff members even gave us some fresh herbs picked from out back to cook at home with.Highly recommend the flaming hot burger and vegan bratwurst!!!!Bet on your mom Ill be coming back.Our waitress btw, I just have to mention was so polite and courteous.

Had a wonderful time for sure. The staff were fantastic. With covid-19 being so prevalent... Everyone was outside... Everyone seemed to be having a great time and the 6-foot rule was definitely enforced. Masks are mandatory walking in. Congratulations to all that work there. When I came here last year, it was just awesome. Great atmosphere and great food (order the Shillelagh Burger, best stuff Ive ever eaten), the only thing that couldve made it better would be if I couldve drank a Guinness, but Im not 21 yet so thats all right. Since I live in Germany, I didnt have a chance to eat there since then, but if its still only half as good as then, I highly recommend it.

To be completely honest Ive only ever ended up here because of the Motor City Tattoo Expo kick off party. I know, I know youre now wondering how Ive not been here during St. Patricks day, and that is an entirely valid question. My answer? No clue, I just havent, haha.The party always takes place in the private upstairs area, so I havent done much hanging out down on the main floor beyond going with people to smoke out in the nice heated and covered outdoor smoking area, which also happens to be equipped with several tvs. Overall, this place is pretty clean (definitely better than many of your older comparable bars). Including the upstairs bathrooms—as I have never used any that are on the main level. All the staff that I have interacted with here have always been great—but keep in mind that Ive only been here for private events, so I imagine the event gets extra attention versus just popping in for a few beers with friends. Nonetheless, everyone has always been friendly and accommodating.Many bars serve pub style food (burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, etc..) and this place is no different. What sets this place apart as far as food goes is the rather large menu they do have for being a bar of their size. There are a ton of things to choose from, and when it comes to bar fare, to me thats always a plus. However, with that being said, I havent gotten the opportunity to try most of the things here due to the fact that the events I have attended mostly only have a selection of their appetizers and really nothing else—but with that being said, what I have tried was good. They also have quite a variety of beer on draft (which is also a plus), and all of your usual liquor likings as well.When all is said and done, if youre looking for a decent place downtown to stop in for a few beers and possibly dinner with friends, then this place will give you what youre looking for.Cheers!

Nice place. Vegan menu is a very nice tough. The burgers were great. Brought the vegan shepherds pie home for the wife. Didnt tell her it was vegan until after she ate it. She had no idea and love it. Well worth it if in the area.

Surprisingly good amount of vegan and vegetarian options on the menu. Decent sized portions. This place has been around for a while. Also Id actually rate it 3.5 rather than 4 but I cant give half stars.

This place is more of a bar/club that also happens to serve some decent food. I stopped by because I had read reviews about the great vegan selection. (They do serve more than vegan food!) I was not disappointed! I highly recommend the vegan nachos. Note that there is a $5 per person cover charge and you must be 21 or over to get in. Its 2 floors with a bar & dance floor on the ground level, and seating with another bar and a stage for live music on the second level. The person who took our order was super kind and helpful. Great place if you want to experience Detroit nightlife and maybe get a meal.

Iv eaten at multiple restaurants in the city with vegan options. Let me say, this place has the best food by far!!! They just launched a vegan brunch menu that was very unique & full of brunch staples from a pecan parmesan crusted avocado Benedict to corned jackfruit hash. Everyone loved the new menu & we can not wait to see what new items they have to offer next!

So, I will say, first off, that I have been to this bar on multiple occasions and it was perfectly fine. This time, however, was not. The bartender, gabby, was pretty rude from the start. I had the girls out and it was our last stop for the nite. I recommended we went there, as a matter of fact. Now, I have been in the industry for twenty years, and I have never seen such behavior from a bartender. We got to the bar at about 130, ordered a round and some shots and one of my friends wanted another. The bartender had just gotten a couple beers for other customers so she assumed (apparently wrongly) that she could order another drink, and was informed, very rudely that she could not get another drink because last call was already called, unbeknownst to us. Then, I saw a few people at the end of the bar order shots and saw her making them, so I asked if she could please make my friends drink and she told me that it was last call when we walked in and that she would not make it. So, then she started making profane comments including its a fu*king Wednesday. She also mentioned that they were her family and she could serve whoever she wanted. All of us have worked in the service industry and simply could not believe it. Shortly thereafter, the bouncer asked us to leave, but not others.

Great Irish Pub that is not in Corktown. The Old Shillelagh is in Greek Town if that makes any sense! I have been here for drinks and I have been here for lunch and I liked it better for the drinks. Dont go for fancy girlie drinks, go for shots and beers. Super crazy on St Patricks Day. Im not saying dont go, just saying that it will be super crazy. Still, no one throws a party like The Old Shillelagh.

I have not experienced something quite like this before. My friends and I came in at 1:30. I was visiting from out of state, part of me felt as if this were a local bar and I was not wanted (my friends are from Detroit). I had ordered a round for my friends. At 1:54am one of my four friends asked for a last drink. The bartender, very shortly explained shed offered last call, despite not verbalizing last call to us. Some time had passed and then two of my friends noticed she was giving people at the end of the bar drinks. The bartender, when asked about this, rudely said (using profanity) that the people at the end of the bar was her family and that she could serve who she liked. All of this occurred prior to 2:00am. This was my first time visiting Detroit and it was not very friendly :/

What a disappointment! $10 to get in (to just the top floor, not the tents or main floor, guess thats another $20, and dont expect the guys at the door to give you a heads up), and a draft beer was $8, havent been in years and will not be back

We attended a veg Michigan vegan fundraiser. The food was great, the servers friendly and the facility was very nice. We look forward to going back on our own. Parking right across the street.

Was in town and had pleasure of enjoying this little place. Had clearly marked vegan items and it was some of the best food Ive ever had! The vegan queso was crazy good. The group I was with also agreed on their burgers. While there were no chairs to sit inside when we arrived around 8 pm, the place was worth the stand.

Its a pub. A classic downtown gathering/watering hole thats been run by the same family for decades. Many tasty beverages, and more vegan dining options than any pub Ive ever visited.literally over a dozen vegan meals, and they are well thought out and delicious, not just an afterthought. Vegan burgers, sausage and kraut, shepherds pie, vegan grilled sandwiches, etc. Warm friendly service you would expect from an Irish pub. Come for the fantastic vegan food, stay for a second beverage, and leave a generous tip. Youll be smiling all the while...

This place has great food! I was pretty surprised since I thought it was just another Irish bar with typical bar food but its more. Also, surprisely they have a pretty big variety of vegan food. The beers are typical Irish stuff but still good.

If you are looking for the packed younger crowd college type bar then the first floor is the way to go. If you want a little more space and live music, the second floor is the place to be and if you want a cool atmosphere with a true Detroit experience then the top floor is what you are looking for. Fair prices and a variety of atmosphere all in the same bar. You could spend your whole night here and feel like youre on a bar crawl. Would recommend.

I was not at the Old Shelagh this time. I was riding the pedal bars that are parked in their back lot. However, I have been to the Old Sheladh so many times that I feel confident in writing a accurate review on their behalf. Who doesnt love this little dumpy bar down in Detroit?They celebrate St Patricks Day like no other. If you can catch the Irish singers that is a show were seeing. I always enjoy my time here.

They have the best vegan menu! I recommend the nachos. They are spicy but so good. The wait staff is super friendly. I went in on a game day and even though it was busy, we still got great service and lots of attention from our waitress. Its right downtown close to everything and I will go there again.

After my order had been marked as “delivered” but with no food in my hand, I decided to call my driver, who told me that you guys had apparently given my delivery order to someone else. What?!I tried calling your business at least a dozen times & nobody bothered to answer (yes it was within business hours), so I gave up & was eventually issued a full refund through GrubHub.Your business is a joke. Do better.

If ur going to a Tigers game, stop here. Grab some beers and eats, than you can jump on the bus all the way to the game. If u had taken a tunnel bus across, it drops u a block away from this.

Service dowstairs was fair. 3 floors up they were hopping. Drink prices were wayyyyyy to high... especially for size and portions of booze. Not good. But overall, a very positive vibes, energy filled place.

The food and environment is great but the staff is not very friendly at all.Best part is the vegan menu.Worst park is the funky looks and negative vibe.

Vegan menu was pretty decent! Food was delicious though quite pricey for what it was. I got the French dip and it was $14. The menu was still on the summer menu at the end of December which seemed odd. I think theyre definitely headed in the right direction but still need some refining!

It is good for an old bar, some updates have been done since the last time I was there and the staff was mostly friendly and helpful. Live music on 2nd floor was good and while listening to that, we really could not hear the music from the 1st floor which was good. Bathroom was good and clean, attendant was nice.

Tons of fun after tigers games. This is a classic detours establishment. There are three floors in case you didn’t know. The very top floor is where are the cool people hang out. I wasn’t welcome there as you can see from my picture. I am a nerd.

$5.00 cover typically not bad. But they were slow at the time we got there, which we expected. Ordered drinks that were super weak. Though the prices were not bad, just wish you could taste the liquor. Should have just ordered a pop instead.

Great place! We had chicken wings and some Irish car bomb high recommended. Service excellent and the place was very organized and clean.

Typical mediocre bar. It’s a place to go and hang out for a little while but would not recommend ever going out of your way to get here. If you’re in Detroit for one night there are probably 65 other places worth hitting before hitting Old Shillelagh.

Great place for St Patricks but only like going if stone clover band is there. Otherwise we be in Mt Clemens. maybe if the food wasnt so much there at old shillelagh.... Because there is a great buffet in downtown Mt Clemens. Ohalerans
