One of the few upsides of sending my children to a DPS is the experience theyve had in visiting the Detroit Childrens Museum. Its a lovely quaint little space where children can play and explore. They were presented with an education on leaves and left in hand with an art project. The staff was friendly and accommodating and seemed to really enjoy their positions of cultivating the curiosity of our youth. As others have stated it is only open to, ehem, Detroits Children, and nothing on their website should lead you to believe otherwise. Its nice that DPS has this space exclusively for their children, especially in a time where kids of Detroit seem to be excluded from so many places in the tri-county area by way of cost and even the general hospitality usually extended to those who have to travel to give their kids such experiences. My only gripe would be not having perhaps special days maybe once or twice a month where DPS parents could visit with their children- Id be willing to even pay a small fee for that. Hands down a good experience

I guess if we want the museum to be open to Detroit Metro, Metro needs to help financially support the Museums or the state needs to step up. We need to tell our representatives in MI&DC to not cut funding to the Arts&Ed

Took grand children today. Website said open today 9 to 4. NOT! Sign on door says open to DPS only. Common sense says put that on the website! Apparently the staff lacks in that department.

Why is this museum being advertised on local Detroit stations when it is NOT OPEN TO THE PUBLIC? This makes no sense whatsoever! Since it is open to DPS schools only...wouldnt the DPS schools KNOW THIS thus no need to show on television. NOT all school age children ATTEND DETROIT PUBLIC SCHOOLS...but would benefit from the experience of the Childrens Museum. Can someone figure this out..how hard it is actually?
