The Russell is amazing. A world of creative opportunities for people looking for affordable and inspiring spaces. The staff is helpful and friendly and will bend over backwards to make sure youre taken care of. The history of the complex is incredible and its quite moving to be able to create within the old factory style settings and spaces.

Great place for lots of businesses to find a home. Working at Scott Sprague Photography today.Please dont think you can come in and just wander around. Although Kahn Dispensary is here in the other building.

Be careful! nobody wears masks here, including staff. there’s a pandemic going on, and it’s clear dennis nor the employees care about it. bring hand sanitizer and another mask if you go inside!

Emailed about renting a space multiple times, never recieved a response. Really frustrating, management mustn’t be great if they can’t even respond to an email.

Incredible venue. Organizers need to do a better job staffing the events and planning for weather. Overall I had an incredible experience. Id recommend calling your cab across the intersection and not on the street to avoid traffic.

We go for the Dirty Show every year. The first year they moved from Berts was an adjustment but still a great event. Each year has declined. Parking sucks, the crowds get bigger and more obnoxious and the quality of the exhibit declines.Havent been for other events and not sure how much longer we will continue if there is no improvement.

Dont expect much and you will love the place hahaha

Went there for the Dirty show which was fun the place had a good lay out to look at all the artwork. The Burlesque show was my favorite part. They also had surprisingly clean bathrooms.

Cool spot. Went for the Hightimes event. Parking was limited but along the street there was plenty. Felt safe with police presence. The Russell is right off the frwy and on the corner so getting dropped off on a Uber is convenient and is not to far from Greek Town, where we stayed at MGM. Will definitely be back. Hope this review helps someone.

Been to a couple different events here, always a great experience. Its a cool space, easy to get to, usually ample on-site parking.

I went to The BaZaar that High Times held here and it was absolutely amazing good food Foodtrucks good people staff was friendly the atmosphere was artistic and a little dark and ominous but it totally set the tone for the venue they couldnt have picked a better place

Pretty cool place to have a cannabis cup.

Feels a bit unsafe and it is like a puzzle trying to find a way into this building to get to the 6th floor. Going down to the 4th floor is scary too and the bathroom is something out of Silent Hill the movie, the 1st movie. This place is very memorable experience and the hallways are a trip to explore with cars sticking out of the walls.

Great photographer has her studio in this building. Its right off 75, easy to get to. Michelle with Enchanted Memories is the best photographer. She can capture beauty in any setting. Russell building brings back memories as my dad worked here in its heyday.

Russell is an amazing event center! Ive seen shows here, and also attended a convention here, and its been a great time both times! There is a ton of space for artists and small businesses as well, making this a really unique Detroit asset.

Definitely for adults with higher of intelligence. children would not be recommended to bring. Kids... you gotta stay home.

Went for hallowicked, it was a nice sized venue. Building is big but small enough to get to where you need to go as in the bathroom or bar. And not miss to much of the show

Sweet place Ive been to multiple times over the years. Never made it underground much though. Would really recommend you still visit. Youll probably still get kicked out by the security they have now, but thats about all thatll happen. Just see as much as you can, dont get too flustered if you get caught, and respectfully move along if you do.

I had a musical reheareal/studio space here for 4 months starting July 2018. My space was broken into and over 10k worth of equipment stolen in one night. We had a steel door with electronic security locks, but the culprits cut a large hole through the drywall and climbed in. When they were done they walked out the front door. The security did nothing. They are not equipped to keep the whole facility secure 24/7. I filed a police report and insurance claim.I’ve rented in comparable spaces in Brooklyn, NY and never had an issue. I would NOT recommend renting a space here. Also the place is dirty, has mold, cockroaches, and the bathrooms are beyond disgusting.

I very much enjoy getting the chance to visit this place.

This place looks like its a good place to go die in a very horrible way. Think Jason meets Freddy meets any other horror movie set. They do alot of cool things here and is always fun.

I enjoyed Hallowicked. The only thing I would change is making the smoking section bigger.I will not recommend The Russel until my hoodie is replaced or I am reimbursed. Upon arriving I dropped off my shoes and my hoodie at coat check. Before ICP went on I got my shoes and gave them my boots. (I didnt want them ruined from faygo.) When the show was over I went to get my belongings and they only had my boots. They somehow gave my hoodie away. Im really upset about this. I didnt purchase it there I purchased in in STL for 80 bucks. All they could tell me was they were sorry. The hanger was there with my number but it was empty. They said the guy working before them was disorganized. But how hard is it to look at a number on a hanger and not give it to someone if they dont have that ticket? Curtis Dalton the production manager came and talked to me. He apologized and said he would contact ICPs tour manager and get ahold of me. He told me he would get the same hoodie or get me something of equal value. He said to give him until the Monday after Halloween and he would contact me. A woman working the coat check took all my info. Im talking address, email, number, picture and description of the hoodie. I watched her email Curtis. Thankfully I took a picture of his email. I waited on Curtis to contact me and he never did. I emailed him and he never responded. I found him on Facebook, sent him a message, and he never responded so here I am. I flew from Kansas City to attend Hallowicked and my hoodie just gets given away. I want this issue resolved.

BE CAREFUL, they charge for secure parking and EIGHT cars were broken into the night of an event. Why are they paying security guards if they are not walking around or guarding anything?I will try to avoid events here, and if not I will uber there.

Owned a gallery here back in 2012. One of the best urban industrial exploration places in the city. Youll always meet someone new or see something different

Big venue but they let too many people get away with smoking inside. And whatever they did to ventilate the place made it cold fast.

Went to a concert here and all was good. Drinks were expensive.. but there lack of security detail kicked us all out and ended the concert early because they had so little crowd control when a few extra people got on the stage after only so many were invited up.. they couldnt stop the extra people from getting in the stage and they instead of clearing the stage even temporarily they just shut it all down

Looks like an abandoned warehouse which is why its a trendy hot spot. I love going here for any event because its a gigantic speakeasy.

Its an old warehouse. Its cool, but not really designed for shows / entertainment.
