This is a beautiful place to visit. The theator and art gallery are a spectacular addition to the original house. I loved the details in the craftsmanship around the whole place. Definitely take time to talk to the lady in the front. She has a wealth of knowledge about the house and the art collection.

It’s like going back in time and watching a concert in 1928. Victorian type concert hall with about as much leg room as coach class on a commercial airliner. Maybe less. The concert hall is neat, the staff not so much. They looked sloppy, weren’t friendly or all that helpful. A lot of the ushers were siting. Really, sitting ?? Was it tea time ??? I would still so see a concert there.

My experience at Hoyt Sherman Place was just AWESOME! The staff were top notch in friendliness and assistance. I found the property very clean and well kept. My only regret is that I had not known of this place sooner. I will not hesitate to visit again. Hats off to the staff and management of Hoyt Sherman Place. Hoyt Sherman Place is a venue with a magnificent history, architectural and acoustic design. Without being too steep, even the balcony seats give a sense of a small, intimate engagement with performers. It is good to see many major donors to help keep the facility open. There is great need to increase patronage so that repairs and upkeep may restore the grandeur of which this venue is certainly capable.

Venerable restored theater on the fringe of a historic neighborhood, with good acoustics for musical performances. Orchestra seating is comfortable, but balcony seats are somewhat confining. Inadequate parking, made even skimpier by construction work going on to improve access to the building. However, Unity Point hospital complex parking ramp is free and just a five-minute walk up a not-so-steep hill.Having performed there, it is a rush for an actor to look up and see a packed balcony!

Neat venue, only reason I took off a star was if you are a full grown man or woman, the seats are pretty small. I get it its my fault for being a fatty, but I still dont think its too much to ask for a little room. I also understand that a hundred years ago people were less likely to be big boned. I would love to see a future up date included bigger seating.

Really cool venue for a concert. The sound was great and I think any seat in the place would have been a good view. The building itself is beautiful and has alot of historical interest, lots of nice artwork and museum quality furniture/artifacts. Downside was waiting an hour at concession are for a drink, ran out of beer, had to go buy more down the street. Long lines. I gave up as I was afraid the concert was going to begin before I got a beverage... Otherwise, no complaints at all!! Great experience, I would buy tickets to a show or concert here again!

Had the privilege of getting to see Henry Rollins Travel Slideshow Tour at the Hoyt Sherman, and it was THE perfect venue for the show. Very intimate feel and I dont believe thered be a bad seat in the house. Our seats were in section B, row E, seats five and six, and we had a great view of Mr. Rollins and the projector where his photos were displayed. The venue is a very interesting place; its an old mansion with beautiful, ornate woodwork throughout. The actual auditorium part is stunning. Although we werent there for live music and it was spoken word through a mic, acoustics were great.
