Have been to this mint before years and years ago when I was 8 years old in 2005. The tour guide was friendly and gift shop staff just as much. The security guard however was extremely aloof and unfriendly when I entered in the building with my ticket in hand, which I ended up going on tour anyway because it was valid (but being aloof over a ticket? Seriously? Low IQ much?). Went on the tour for a while, probably lasted 30 minutes or an hour or two (I dont really remember how long the tour was but it was pretty long). People touring were nice and the tour was great and the people who ran the building were mainly friendly and professional at their job.

Tickets are free and are first come, first serve. Arrived at 9:30, and got tickets for the 12:30 tour. Have to arrive 30 minutes before tour to go through security. No bags allowed. If visiting during summer months or spring break, arrive at 5 am as tickets will be gone by 7:10am. Ticket window opens at 7am. Tour itself was ok... Not sure what I was expecting, its a guided tour mixed in with self guided bits. After the guide says their script, youre free to roam around and read the information panels.. they give you plenty of time to read everything, maybe too much time.. there is a feeling of waiting around in between each room.. staff is super friendly but I do think the tour could be a bit more animated and interactive. Would I line up at 5am during peak season, no way... Off peak, why not. :) There is $12 and $13 (all day or $5-6 per hour) parking nearby. Walking distance to the capital and other sites as well.

We had a wonderful visit and highly recommend the tour! The tour guide was funny and informative and you get a souvenir item of two new pennies, one of which that has not been stamped. We went in June and got in line for tour tickets at 6 am and had no problems getting them. There is a limit on getting the tickets, 5 per person, and about 50 people go each tour. Make sure you read the restrictions before you go and enjoy!!

Super cool tour. You get to see the actual coin mints in operation, with giant piles of penny and quarter blanks being converted to freshly-minted currency right before your eyes! However, hours are very limited and tour tickets are in high demand, so getting in is a pain. Planning ahead is essential. Read the website and other reviews carefully. My pro-tip suggestion is to go during the winter off season if you can. I went on a 9:30 am tour on a snowy November, and still arrived at 7am to ensure I got tickets.

This free tour is informative and fun. You need to obtain a ticket before the tour and then show up a half hour before the tour starts. No picture taking is allowed in the building. You will see displays of historic information and coinage as well as the mint making the coins. You will come home with a free sample. Tickets can be obtained as early as 7 a.m.

Beautiful, and Historical. From the coin collection observed on tour to the building itself. Plan ahead, as to not be disappointed. Tickets are available for all tour times starting at 7 am. Everyone in line at 7 was getting tickets for tours scheduled throughout the day.

This is a review of the Mint Tour, not the gift shop. We visited on a Friday and arrived at 6:00a. There was a fairly long line ahead of us, but we had our pick of any time slot except 11:00a (it was already full). We chose 9:30a. You must have one person present for every 5 tickets you need. No kids under 7 years old are allowed.The tour itself did a good job of talking about the Mints history, but to learn what each machine did, we had to ask a tour guide. Bottom line: everyone definitely enjoyed the tour and were glad they did it.

This is a really fun place to visit. You get to watch money being made and can even take a bag of shredded money as a souvenir.

The worst experience. We raced over to get to the Mint more than 30 minutes in advance of a tour, only discover they were completely full for the day for school tours. Told to come back tomorrow, but we fly out tonight... salt to the wound: we paid $14 for parking. You cant get tickets online and they dont keep their site up to date in real time. My suggestion would be to not even add the mint to your itinerary when visiting Denver.

What a great tour, especially for a free tour. Make sure you arrive early enough to get a ticket (they are on first come first serve). Had no problem getting tickets for 9:30 tour, but noticed that there were school groups for the 11 am tour and it was sold out. Also, no purses or bags allowed - 2 people on our tour had to run back to hotels/cars to put those away. Tour guides were very knowledgeable and were great! The tour is the perfect length about 45 minutes and gives a good overview of the coin making process. Educational and entertaining all at the same time. Plenty of paid parking within 1 block of the mint, but beware the lots fill up pretty quick especially since the mint is only open on business days. I would definitely recommend it.

Great thing to do here, the tour was a bit disappointing because I thought we were going through more of the building, but still waaaaaaayyyyy worth going plus free, but definitly get there 2 hours early we showed up at 5 am and people were already in line.

I highly recommend touring the Denver Mint. Its free and its one of two US Mints that you can tour. I arrived at 10:30 and was able to get the last two tickets for the 2:00 pm tour. They even had more tickets for the 3:00 pm tour. (There are several things to do in the area if you need to kill time before your tour. The State Capitol Building is close and also does free tours every half hour without tickets.) You are asked to come back 30 minutes before your tour starts to go over rules and get everyone through the metal detector.The rules were pretty simple: Dont bring weapons, purses, bags, lighters, or cameras. You can bring your phone, but they ask that you turn it off for the tour. No strollers are allowed, however its recommended for kids 7 and up.The tour itself was fairly short, 30 minutes. The tour guides were both informative, but definitely ask questions. I thought they were thorough, but they offered interesting details if you asked.

I loved my visit to the Denver mint. The tour was enlightening to an avid coin collector but also to those that enjoy tours or museums. It’s also free!Just one suggestion: make sure you grab your ticket for touring around 7:30 or else they will be sold out that day. We went 3 times before we got a tour. Well worth the effort.

Tours are free! I went on a Monday during probably non peak day- in the winter time. I haven’t toured the mint since I was probably in elementary school. It was a fun experience to see how they operate. You have to make sure you are the entrance gate 30 mins before the tour time to go through security. No purses, bags of any kind. This place is so secure they even have bars (with spikes!) on the fake windows! Tax dollars well spent I’m sure.

Read the rules before going in, there are a lot of restrictions to what you can and cant bring in with you. The tour itself is not great. You can overlook the facilities, and the tour guide along with videos explain the process. They are knowledgeable and will answer any questions. There were three rooms which you could go into (the entire groups goes as one), and I felt that I had more time than was necessary in each room. It was interesting and felt like I should see the mint while in town, but it was far from the most interesting place I have been.

Very underwhelming for all the effort involved to get in. The truth is - coin making is no longer an artisan craft. All you see is the final product pouring out from a single machine that does everything. And from a considerable distance. Security is very tough but allegedly due to 74 train cars of gold stored in the building, and not due to the coin making process. Tickets do go fast. At 7:08am it was all over and done. Plan not to have a backpack with you. After you pickup your ticket, go across the lawn and do a free guided tour of a very impressive capitol building.

I really like to go to the Denver Mint because I like the the way our money is made and Its a fun place place to tour by yourself or with friends and family. I will keep coming back to tour there as often as I can. The gift shop is a cute shop to go into as well. The tour guide is very warm and kind and shows us as great time while we are doing our tour. The Denver Mint is also a great for out of towners to see as well. Thank You Denver Mint for letting us tour you!!!

The United States Mint Museum is amazing in the Heart of Downtown Denver. Lots of terrific history. Can’t wait to come back again soon. Keep up the great customer service work as well!

An incredible experience for American History. We were visiting from out of town and read about how its a must see place. Tours are first come first serve. We arrived for the 930AM tour. It was fascinating, insightful, and educational. Also had to buy a few things in gift shop. A definite must see place. No photos allowed.

It was a lot of fun... Not Six flags fun... But very interesting. The guide was knowledgeable and had some fun stories to tell. The early arrival is for real for security but they have an informative display to view so get there early to see it.

Just cool for the fact that they coin money here. Be sure to read the website about what is allowed inside, it is a federal building and there are no exceptions!The tour does seem a bit longer than is necessary, but we were lucky enough to catch them minting the 2018 $1 coins in preparation for release next year.The old equipment on display and some of the melted down defectives and ‘waffled’ coins were really interesting. Can’t beat it for free!

It was a good place and there are a lot of cool items like two 75 oz gold bars.

Truly a fascinating place an old traditions of History and disregarding slavery 4 slavery is not permitted in any part of the Republic in any part of the world. Originally commissioned by the French Quarters in Louisiana lease of 6000 years under the jurisdiction of Spain and French territories with special amendments to the Native Americans. Please refer to the four quarters that make $1 to refer to the four corners of the partials of the states that have been commissioned through the Napoleonic code. The tour was pretty lame. Dont really get to see how anything is made. Just the outside of the machines. Our excellent tour guide Jason was the only reason the tour was bearable.

I had a great visit at the Denver Mint on September 11th, 2017. It is one of only two mints in the entire U.S. that you are able to tour.The tour was informative and fun. Our guide was knowledgeable and pleasant. I highly recommend taking this tour. I suggest getting there early in the morning to ensure that you get tickets. I got in line at 6:15 am and was the 8th person in line. I had no problems getting tickets to any of the tour times available throughout the day. The doors open at 7 and the first tour is at 8am. It takes about 45 minutes and drops off in the cool gift shop.

The Mint is a nice place to visit but adjust your expectations. To visit, you must make an reservation for a tour which has limited spaces but when you get there, the guards there are okay if a few more than you reserved for come with you. But you must make an reservation or else youll only get to visit the gift shop. The tour is nice if you like exhibits, factoids, history and looking at money. The tour is about an hour and a half, they also make you turn off your phone and not take pictures. But if you visit the gift shop before the tour, the gift shop can hold your purchases there for you while you visit the mint. The mint itself is small compared to the hustle and bustle of Downtown Denver but if youre the type who is fascinated by how things are made, you may like the Mint.

The tour was great and very informative. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and was able to answer all of the questions I had. Even the police officer that followed the tour was super friendly and even added facts that the tour guide didnt. I would definitely recommend this tour for anyone visiting the city.

You guys should allow us to see the traffic and volumes of the tours so we can know when the best time to tour is.

You can not make a reservation as some are describing. It is first come first serve and the ticket window opens at 7am. They offer different times of the morning and afternoon and tours take 45min not counting the 30 min to be at the fence prior to the tour for the security check. The tour itself is mediocre at best. You cant really see much of the coins or how they are made, only some conveyor belts with little bins moving money. The displays are cool but dont expect to really read about them since the tour moves along quickly and armed guards are with the tour. All in all its historical and the architecture is gothic renaissance. Also, believe it or not,they pay you to take the tour, you get a free penny as a souvenir!!!!

Our daily goal for the past couple of months has been to get a reservation to tour the mint. We try multiple times a day (and night). We have had no luck. I happened to try the phone line today and there is a message saying that it is closed the week we are interested in. Why isnt this posted on the website? Why isnt there transparency into the openings? The reservation system needs addressing, as does the communication surrounding it.

The tour was free and totally worth the stop. We learned so much about the history of our countrys currency and had very friendly, knowledgeable tour guides. It was seriously SO cool to see how coins are produced and to see those amazing machines in action! I would be sure to note that you must reserve a spot online ahead of time, and they are very strict on their rules and have no storage facilities. I took my wallet from my purse along with my cell phone, which had to be powered off during the tour to ensure no security protocols were broken or pictures taken.

The tickets for the tour are impossible to get. We were there at 7:05 in the morning and were told the tickets were already gone. The police and tour directors are incredibly rude, and it is not even worth wasting your time around people with such terrible attitudes. Go do something more fun and less archaic and disorganized with your family.

Ok heres what I can tell you. If you arent willing to get there early, like before 10am to get tickets dont bother going. I got there at 10 and they only had the last tour available. If you arent willing to not have your purse or bag, or dont have a place to store them then dont bother. Theres no place close to store your items. My friend was livid about not being able to bring her purse or cigarettes. Other than it was a nice your. Not a long one but interesting things to see and a lot to learn.

Opened in the mid-1800s as an Assay Office to change gold and silver found by miners. It wasnt until 1906 that the Denver facility began actually minting coins .#15 on The Best of Denver. The best places and must see venues in the Denver, Colorado Metro area.

Very similar facility to Philadelphia Mint. However, they store gold here, which means you are restricted to a guided tour. Ticket window opens early, and you can get a free ticket to a tour throughout the day. No pictures in the facility. DONT PAY FOR PARKING UNTIL YOU GET THE TICKET. The DOJ parking lot is a good spot, as it has a variety of times, and if you are staying under 2 hours, it is probably the cheapest parking in the area.Easy walk to State and County Capitol Buildings

This is one of the most unique and fun experiences in Denver.The tours are fun and the tour guide/securiry are in great spirits with a ton of interesting information.The tour itself is fairly short at around 40 minutes, and you will want to chat with staff and do some self-guided touring with displays yourself if you want the full experience, but its worth the time.The tour is free, and they were also giving out free unpressed and pressed pennies as souveniers, it is like they pay you to tour!The wait was the worst part since tour space is limited (it gets pretty cramped), but it was an experience I would gladly repeat.

Great tour! Rebecca was a wonderful tour guide who answered all my questions. BUT....Officer Moody at the entrance was the rudest person I met in my entire trip to Colorado. He made the entire process of entering the U.S. Mint absolutely horrible.

Unfortunately I didnt get to your the mint. Parking was a pain in the a**! Went to three nearby lots and none of them could process my payment. Happened to others trying to pay as well. I finally got to the ticket both about 5 minutes before the tour started and the guy basically told me to pound sand. Not friendly at all. All he did was perpetuate my perception of government workers. Grrrr...

Incredible experience! In order to get your tickets to go on a tour around the mint you need to be at the ticket office at about 7 a.m. The tour get sold out very quickly!

Very very hard to get tickets for the tour. Can not get online or ahead of time. Wouldn’t recommend wasting the time.

Great history and experience with our nations coin development

They said to be there half an hour early, so we had to wait outside in the cold for 15. The tour guide was unintelligible and there was not enough time to peruse all of the displays. This site says self-guided tour - theres no such thing. You get pulled along by the tour guide and you are being watched all along the way. All we can say is, we are glad it was free because it wasnt worth the coinage we had to put in the parking meter.

Tour guides were funny, personable, and knowledgeable. Be sure to reserve your tickets in advance to secure a spot and make sure to arrive 30 minutes before your tour to get through security.

One of two mints in the United States! Although its guarded like Fort Knox, it is really really cool. Outside on the sidewalks, the vents moo at you!

Tour is very educational and the guide is great, be sure to get a reservation in advance though.

I enjoyed this tour immensely! Our guide Joe was gracious, articulate, well-informed, and absolutely born to lead this tour. Its free! Its about 45 mins in duration and well worth arriving the 30 mins early that they advise you. Its thorough enough that I learned probably 10 facts (that have stuck with me!), but brief enough that it doesnt lose your attention. I think I could have easily spent another 45 mins there just gazing at the enormous bins of sparkly coins and quizzing Tour Guide Joe about more factoids about the business. The gift shop, however, was uninspired.

Service was horrid. One of the guards was incredibly rude and unhelpful. He told us the tour was sold out and that we had to make reservations, when online it specifically says no reservations are taken. So we went to get tickets, which they did in fact have, then went back to the gate to be let in only to be told the tour had already started (early) and the tour guides get mad if anyone who is “late” is let in. Overall a very frustrating experience and we will not be returning.

Fun and quick tour but not easy to get reservations when you want them. Lots of people get reservations and never show so you need to go on a space available basis.

Very short; it took us longer to get through security than to take the actual tour... Our tour group of 40-50 people were rushed through the facility and we were done within 30 minutes of starting. Unfortunately with this many people and the amount of stuff to see it was hard to spend any amount of time the exhibits. Wish I had more time to look around... D-

Unless you prepare to get there between 7.00am - 9.00am to get a ticket for a tour otherwise you wont be able to get in, as its first in first serve. Also if you have no car or your hotel nearby to store your handbag or backpack then dont bother, as the place has no locker facility to store it; and you arent allowed to bring it in with your tour. There is no information about on the website. I was unable to get in n was very disappointed.

Its kinda cool to go to the mint. It isnt cheap, but you wouldnt expect the place that makes money to be cheap lol.

I came to Denver twice and I have never been able to get a tour in this place. The reservation was always full. Starting this November, the visitors do not need to have reservation and they can buy a ticket in the gift shop. However, they sell all the tickets in the morning.
