Ad-free, with a proper in-person introduction, reserved and comfortable seating, immaculate projection and sound, perfectly clean, and movie-goers who are respectful enough not to turn on their phones or talk during a screening. If I could come here every day, I really would.

A wonderful Landmark independent film theater! The two screens, one downstairs one upstairs, have a minimal design style that is highly approachable. And there are recent updated chairs which are very cozy and comfortable! This place maintains that old school style of theaters, although without drawing a curtain, where is Staff representative walks in front of the crowd and addresses everyone thanks them for their patronage and introduces the film before each screening. Its a subtle touch that really makes a mark on the whole experience.The main downstairs theater is expansive and roomy and comfortable. Im a tall guy and I had no issues with my knees or leg room in general! Like I said, a very minimalist design style in the interior, but they utilize my personal favorite style of design, indirect colored lighting that really brightens up the entire space just enough for a wonderful ambiance. The upstairs screen use as a tactic, also employed by the Mayan, where they have separated the old balcony into his own small theater space. Here at the Esquire, this space feels like youre in a private screening room. Once again demonstrating elegance in simplicity!

Love seeing Indy movies here. Audiance participation night for Rocky Horror show is one of my favorite renditions of the movie.

Very good place to go see a movie. I always take the whole family. If you want to enjoy an ice cold drink along with your movie, popcorn and snacks, this is the place for you .

This is my favorite movie theater in Denver, mostly for sentimental reasons. I have seen so many good films here over the years! Besides the films, however, there are many reasons to like the Esquire. The members of the staff are always friendly and helpful. The concessions are diverse and tasty, a bit out of the ordinary. The movie guides and reviews are helpful and interesting. Oh, there is also a fun and free-wheeling midnight movie program. While I havent gone to that in years, I like that it is available for younger movie-goers (with presumably more wakefulness and energy). And heres my favorite thing: there are usually postcards, bookmarks, or other free goodies pertaining to current or upcoming films. The theatre now has fancy new seats, too!

Love the showings, and I especially love that I can sit in an upstairs theater with two hands full of moderately priced beer, near blackout drunk already, watching a Mr Rogers movie in peace. They also do weekly showings of classic movies and biweekly showings of The Room and Rocky Horror Picture Show. Overall, you cant ask for much more from a theater. Theyre also right across the street from a gay bar that serves fantastic fries, all things considered.

I love coming here instead of going to a big corporate/chain theater. The prices are about the same though, and I definitely wish they were a little bit cheaper. But Im still happy to have my money go to a place that deserves it. The staff are pretty friendly for the most part, too!

A nice, small, theater showing a variety of indies. I saw The Irishman here and it was great. The auditorium was clean and the seats were amazingly comfortable (downstairs theater). The staff there are very nice. I would definitely going here for a movie

Nice boutique style theater. Only two screens but that is kind of cool bc it keeps it simple. They serve beer and wine and snacks, decent selection. Movies are also around 10 bucks depending when you go, which is like half off most larger theater ticket prices. Basically just need to monitor the showings and they also seem to do other screenings and events but I didn’t look at the details

Great location, amazing staff. They show the coolest classic movies and great prices! I went to see Lost Boys yesterday at midnight for just 20 bucks.

The newly remodeled main theater is a plus. Great surround sound. Snacks are always available and the staff are friendly.

This theater shows good movies, but when I went today, there was no ticket seller. Everyone had to wait in line for the people ahead to buy their popcorn, soda, candy, etc. before being able to buy a movie ticket. And, the two servers were working at cross-purposes. It was all rather silly!

First visit since they remodeled. Comfortable seats with lots of leg room. They serve wine and beer now. Im just as glad they dont have reserved seats like everyone else seems to be doing.

Chilly in there...wear a coat or 2...but we enjoy going there. Seats could be more comfortable, for sure.

We come here for Rocky Horror midnight showing almost every month. Always super fun, but dont go if youre easily offended by crass humor. Get tickets ahead of time, tends to sell out.

I love independent theaters and I enjoy supporting these important historical centers. The Esquire has comfortable seats, a good sound system, and refills on popcorn. Not only that, but the movie selection is excellent.

Years, ago this a cute quaint theatre. I am surethey to remodel. But for the love of God, they chose the single most narrow, uncomfortable seats imaginable. Litererally, if you are 57, and 10%, overweight, you will have to squish in. Spirit airlines is way better. I was SO bummed. Never again.

I like this place. They show movies after they are out of the big theaters. So if you want to save a dollar come here and wait to see some movies. They do like themed times from what i remember. They do like spooky nights. And older nights with classics. They also do less mainstream movies and stuff you cant see elsewhere. I saw meru here and it was amazing! Overall a good dollar theater with a different mix of movies to see.

Had fun seeing a screening of The Room. Worth checking out for any screening.

My favorite theatre in Denver

Hi there, I went to the Landmarks Esquire theater in Denver about 2 years ago and I really enjoyed going to see some movies that Id really like. (I didnt take any photos of this place when I was there during the movie, but I really enjoyed going there when I was able to see movies in Denver.) :)

Great selection of movies, particularly re-runs of older classics. Rocky horror picture show at midnight is awesome! Some reviews are right that it needs a little TLC but worth a trip where you can have a cocktail or glass of wine during your viewing.

Small quaint (never used the word quaint before but I think it fits) theater. Great selection of snacks and some of the best movie popcorn Ive ever had.

Had the snacks we like and the theatre was clean, seats comfortable. Not alot of leg room if you have long legs but adequate.

One of my favorite theaters in Denver-so quaint and charming! Plays a great variety of independent movies, and cult classics (the Rocky Horror Picture show is a must, especially when they have the live cast!). My only complaint is the upstairs theater, about half the seats will have you craning your neck the entire movie. I would recommend calling to see where the movies are playing, and attempting to avoid busy showings in the upstairs theater.

This is one of my favorite places on Earth~ So many good memories have been made during midnight shows for me. The Esquire offers the opportunity to experience movies on the big screen that I hadnt before~ The facts/trivia before the show are really enjoyable, as well as the other folks that come to see movies here. Its a completely different experience from others theaters which keeps me coming back~

The seats can be a bit worn down, but otherwise the Esquire is a blast from the past. It seems like all movie theaters today are lowering the number of seats in the theater to accommodate large reclining chairs. The Esquire doesnt mess around with any of that. Youll come in and get a good seat with the people you came with every time. The staff is friendly and does their best to ensure you have a positive movie experience.

Every so often I go to the Esquire theatre. What I really enjoy is that they play movies that the regular theatres do not play. Staff has always been nice. I know this isnt necessarily good for their business, but I enjoy the fact that the theatre is never packed with other people like at the regular theatres.

Love the events they do here and the older feel to the theater. Dont miss out on the Midnight Movie Madness - you might catch one of your favorite movies there. The food was typical theater food (which is awesome because it was delicious).

I love everything about this place aside from one rather crucial factor. The location is great, they show an awesome lineup of films, the staff is friendly, BUT the seats are the legitimately the worst ever. I wish so badly they would invest and replace the seats. I find myself avoiding longer movies here because my back literally cannot take the pain imparted by the seats. I am so done after 90 minutes in those torture devices.Both the Mayan and Chez Artiste have much better, upgraded seating. Wish Landmark would do the same here.

This place shows some great foreign and independent films. The staff is very friendly just like all the other Landmark theaters in town. This is an older theater so seating comfort is not great and the setup in some of the theaters are out dates but it has charm. It’s is always clean and enjoyable and great movies!

My first time at this theatre. It is small, but very charming. Parking can be difficult during the day, but the space is worth a visit to see a movie.

This theater is amazing! If you’re a film buff you’re going to love this place. It shows all sort of old cult classics on the regular. The setting is all right, and the food prices are what you would find anywhere else.

Fun! Went to see Isle of Dogs here and it was a charming and old school theater. If I see something artsy sometime soon Ill definitely go here again. Parking is limited so expect to park in the neighborhood around the theater.

Very old theater with charm. Was on 2nd floor. Nice screen and not a bad seat in the house. Well, actually all the seats are (physically) bad! But definitely an old time theater experience.

Its nice that landmark theatres have survived. Really classic theatres. Its really nice to have the Esquire theatre in the neighborhood. They play all of the art house movies, plus, on the weekends they do throwbacks to classic movies. Also, the popcorn is delicious and generously sized. For an art house theatre, the prices are reasonable. $11.50 for an adult evening ticket. You can also purchase online.

Probably one of the best old school theaters in Denver. Great selection of snacks, wonderful crew working here as well. Its intimate and you cant go wrong with the classic they play throughout the year.

Great movies that arent usually in the bigger theaters. Great staff. It has the feel of the old neighborhood movie theater. If they could update one thing it would be to get new cushions on their seats. Some of them are just fabric over springs and you sink right down to the seat frame. But other than that, I love the Esquire

Go and go often, you wont regret it! I love seeing movies at the historic indie theaters in town. So much fun, so much character, so much different than the multiplex! The concessions are outstanding (I highly recommend the vegan cookies!) and the movie selections are always top notch. This is the way to experience a movie.

The Esquire is without doubt one of my favorite places in Denver. They show the Room and Rocky Horror at least once every month at midnight. They also get a lot of the indy releases that bigger theaters don’t pick up and have a well-curated rotation of classic movies mixed in as well.

Esquire always hosts great special events. Ive been to multiple one night only shows and its always been an enjoyable experience. The only down side is if the concessions is off their game that night; make sure to come early if you want to buy popcorn because they dont do large batches and will get slammed.

This is a hipster movie venue and it is dated. The seating is in desperate need of updating, you can feel the springs through the upholstery. The bathrooms are out of date.

Although LOVE, GILDA was a beautiful film, it triggered some rough memories for me. The Esquire by itself is a very pleasant environment to watch a film.

Fun. I saw the movie for the 53rd time tonight (actually early this morning ). And its been almost 30 years since I last saw it. The audience participation has become much greater than it was 30 years ago.

This seems like a fine enough theatre, though a bit seedy. Be aware that two of the three theaters are inaccessible to people who cannot climb stairs.

Watched the premiere of A Very Sordid Wedding. Staff is very friendly. Nice theater considering it was built in 1927. My partner of exactly 5 yrs proposed to me after the show. Definitely an everlasting memory.

Great for info movies. There are two screens and even the small one is not bad at all. It looks real small but once the movie starts your be pleased.

The seats are all pretty battered and worn. The theater has a gentle slope, so it is hard to see past peoples heads. The popcorn was fresh and tasty.

Nice quant little theater. Seats were pretty uncomfortable. It has old school seating witch makes viewing the movie difficult if there is a tall person in front of you.

Classic movie theater showing independent films. Great, knowledgeable, and friendly staff. On Friday/Saturday nights they show an older movie at Midnight (SO fun & eclectic.) Be prepared, some of the seats need recushioning, but that is part of the nostalgia.

Nice little older theater that is well maintained and has lots of charm. However, I just wanted to see Rocky Horror. I specifically picked a night when it didnt say there were any shadow casts or anything like that, but when I got there I found out there was going to be a live cast, doing all sorts of things during the movie. I tried to play along and be a good sport, but after a picture of ice water to the face, and constant shouting over almost every bit of the movie, I ended up with a headache and had to leave 15 mins in. I just wanted to see a movie. I do not recommend going to the Rocky Horror show here if you actually want to see any of the movie, or if youre over 25. If youve ever been kicked out of a theater for being disruptive, youll love it. A for effort guys, but really not my bag.

Movies are great at Esquire, as is fresh popcorn with real butter. Unfortunately, seating is AWFUL, cant be exaggerated how bad it is. All other Landmarks have either stadium seating or newer seats. Only Mayan and Esquire lag behind. A disgrace given theater prices these days.
