I always love going to events here. The atmosphere is always dependent on what you are going to go see but so far they have always done a great job. Going here for concerts is always amazing I have lost count of how many I’ve attended. If you get the chance I highly recommend taking the chance on it. Watching Lindsey Sterling and Evanescence was amazing!
I have to give this five stars because of the excellent staff and organization! Right from our arrival there were parking attendants directing traffic. The parking is free! Also, there are BATHROOM ATTENDANTS! What a genius idea. They are at every corner directing bathroom traffic - you are in and out fast because you don’t have to guess what stalls are occupied! It’s seamless. The venue itself is nice, although a bit dated. Food and drinks are VERY expensive! Eat before you go if you’re on a tight budget. You pass through security before entering as well. Overall it feels like a safe place.
One of my favorite places in Dallas, I could watch a musical every week! The food upstairs is decent and not too expensive. The merch line always move quickly.Parking is free, but always get there early because traffic around the venue can sometimes be a mess. There’s also a shuttle that takes you right to the front of the venue. There’s always a long line for the women’s restroom during intermission, but they do have employees getting everyone through quickly and making sure all the stalls are filled. They’ve also added a restroom outside by the buffet dining area, but I’ve never used it so I’m not sure how many stalls it added. The seating is pretty cramped, but the views from anywhere in the orchestra sections are great. The balcony view is great as well, especially if you’re in the front of your section, but at one show I was in the second row and someone tall sat in front of me and I could barely see anything. The sound and performances are always amazing, though.
Saw Hello Dolly at Music Hall at Fair Park (Dallas) for the first time ever, and LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT!! Amazing acting, terrific timing, marvelous musical melodies, and a performance artistry that WOWED THE CROWD around every corner. Highly, HIGHLY recommend both this venue, and the musical masterpiece, Hello Dolly!!!
Recently saw Book Of Mormon. It was a spectacular presentation. I dont think there is a bad seat in the house. They offer a buffet before the show in the Crystal Terrace for ~25. I prefer to go to the Bistro upstairs that offers some sandwich fares ~10. This is a good venue to see many shows and musicals. It is an older venue but still provides a great presentation and amenities. Not fancy like the opera houses but still adequate for a good musical. I enjoy seeing shows here and they offer all the Dallas Summer Musicals.PLEASE LIKE MY REVIEW IF YOU FOUND IT HELPFUL!
Was here for The Book of Mormon tour in February 2019, and for Broadway musicals at least, this place is quite large (seats 3,500). They were doing renovations, and adding an elevator at this time (the building is over 90 years old). The venues size affects the sound quite a lot, so they have to have concert-level volumes to reach the whole audience which works for belting scenes, but doesnt work for more intimate scenes with softer volume levels. If youre not up close, you may miss some dialogue, but if you are, you may be overpowered by some higher volume parts. For having that many seats, the restroom line goes pretty quickly. You can get back to your seats in time for the second act, which is nice. The seats themselves are comfortable, but they recline pretty easily and squeak loudly while doing so.Over all, its a pleasant experience, but for Broadway, I think a more traditional venue is better.
This really is a great place to see Broadway musicals like the Sound of Music or Hamilton. You can park and they have a tram that will come get you. I think the sound quality is decent in the theater and I know the seats are more roomier here than in New York City. For Hamilton they added a nice little touch and brought one of these 26 original Declaration of Independence for display in the lobby on-loan from the Dallas library.
The Aladdin Musical was phenomenal. Aladdin is the first film i remember watching in Theatres as a child so even as an adult I was excited. I also found out about a yr ago a grade school classmate Major was starting as the role of Genie & I wanted to see it even more & let me just say he blew me away with his performance. The only reason i gave 4stars is during intermission alot of women were still in line for the restroom because the line was so long so we miss the beginning of the next half which is very disappointing & I may never get to see what I missed but parking is free & make sure you get there an hr early to find your seat, shop, eat etc..
We drive over here from Tarrant County because of the affordability of Dallas Summer Musicals. We’ve been going for years with the kids and love the theatre. I dinged the Music Hall one star only because the legroom situation is pretty rough in some sections making for an uncomfortable viewing experience. One of the ushers told me they’re rolling out some updates to freshen the place up but no word on whether or not the seating layout will improve. Bottom line: take your family to the theatre to expand their horizons and shake up the humdrum of life in the tech age.
We were seated near the back of the house but still had a great view and the sound was excellent. We saw the Book of Mormon which was well done. I have seen it twice before in Las Vegas and while this was a bit different, the actors were excellent and really enjoyed what they were doing! Drink lines need to be expanded as the lines are super long. Parking is abundant but you may park up to a half mile from your car. The positive side of the parking is that they have multiple cart drivers that will shuttle you to and from your car.
My mom and her husband went to see the musical Cats, For her 77th birthday gift! She thoroughly enjoyed it. They had excellent seats. She said she couldnt have received a better birthday gift! I highly recommend this place and give it 5 stars! We will return.
Excellent well run theatre. Stage is very functional and highly visible from most orchestra seats. Parking is plentiful and there are trams to get you to and from the parking areas. Bathroom and bar are highly organized to make for a smooth intermission process.
Even with their Air conditioning out it was a 10 star!Fiddler on the Roof is my favorite. The cast did NOT let us down. Excellent!!
Bought season tickets for the first time this year and the first show was fantastic. Also if you have season tickets the process to change your tickets for a different date is easy. The Music Hall is a beautiful venue but plan to be there early, Dallas traffic can get bad.
The Lion King was amazing a great way to spend surprising a friend for his birthday! The amount of detail spent on each costume was so entertaining and the audiences passionate applause puts you right back in the mindset of a kid with awe and wonder of the African history we all love.
Always nice to see a musical in this place. Balcony seats are a little tight, but you can still see the stage. Recommend floor seating; much more comfortable seating.
Beautiful foyer with gorgeous chandelier.Acoustics could be better and roomier seats. But all in all nice venue with great parking.
We went to see Cats performance. We planned to arrive early, but traffic caused us to barely get there on time. They delayed the start slightly so that other attendees who faced the same traffic nightmares could see the entire performance. Beautiful theatre, fun performance, will go again, and highly recommend it...
Went to see the Dear Evan Hansen musical. Venue was at the State Fair ground and had plenty of parking available. Comfortable seats, a restaurant bar and a Bistro on the balcony. Great night!
I dont know what people mean by comfortable seats. They certainly did not seat at the balcony. I love Cats, but for the first time me and my family left during intermission, bc none of us could spend one more minute seating at those tiny seats with NO leg space. My legs started cramping after half an hour incapable of moving. And Im only 54 tall. Not to mention my husband (hes 64) and teen daughter. They couldnt wait to leave as well. The seats felt like airplane economic class middle seats. We consider that a shame for a metroplex like Dallas. Weve been to theaters all over the world, but its the first time we feel like leaving before a very nice show ends. Id love to attend to Blue man, but Im not going back to those uncomfortable seats for sure. This music hall definitely needs remodeling asap. Really outdated concerning comfort.
Pretty plain Jane theatre. Felt like a school auditorium. Enjoyed Hamilton though.
Beautiful venue.. but..Parking here is crazy.. and not enough restrooms.
The quality of shows DSM brings in is really top-notch. The traveling shows are high-quality and lovely, the casts are always excellent. That said, there are two major issues I have with the facility. It is an older building that feels consistently run-down. The seats are uncomfortable as well. And the sound is not good. At almost every show I end up not being able to understand the lyrics, or the mics crackle and pop. Maybe the sound system is old, too.
It can be confusing trying to get into the parking lot, but just follow the directions of the staff and youre good. They offer valet parking. For general parking, they provide shuttle buses. Like any music hall, they will close the doors and not allow you in when the musical starts, but there are TVs outside so you can see what youre missing and they will usher you to your seats as soon as they can. The seats are comfortable and the actors/actresses have always been very talented, including world famous names like Topol (part of his farewell performance tour of Fiddler on the Roof having been performed here some years ago).
Clean and spacious. Loved that the seats were cushioned and even though we bought cheap seats in the balcony, the view still wasnt bad.
We have seen fiddler on the roof and Cats. The sets are always amazing and the plays well done. Sseats to far far left would have difficulty seeing part of three stage but other than that, theres not a bad seat in the house!
I love going to this venue for the musicals! Any major tour will be there and I love that… But the building itself is just so dated. A lot of people that go there comment on how drab it looks. Aside from that, everyone there is so friendly and I look forward to going every time!
Watched Hamilton...it was AMAZING!!
First of all, CATS was amazing as always, but....Awful venue! The seating map when we purchased the tickets were deceiving. Granted we knew we had seats pretty high up but we thought they were going to be on the front of the overhang in section NN. Instead we were the front row but it was way back in the auditorium. The volume was low and the overhead lights were on and annoying. It was hard to see what was going on the stage. My husband had to cough so he went outside of the auditorium during the second half. When he tried to get back to his seat, the usher would not allow him to return to his seat with his family. Instead he had to sit and watch the rest of the performance in a different section for the entire second half. Very disappointed that he could not be with his wife and 2 young girls. We bought the tickets for the girls since we already seen it in NYC and he couldn’t enjoy the play with them. The restrooms needs to be renovated to accommodate the crowd. Having 6 stalls are unacceptable. Will I go back? Maybe for that one show that I wanted to see like Rent but I am undecided. The prices for tickets are outrageous and I can purchase cheaper tickets on Broadway in NYC. We go to NYC about 4 times a year so we may save our money for Broadway.
Really enjoyed seeing Hamilton. The crysal buffet was good...best part was dessert table. Could have skipped the entrees.
Recently saw Jill Scott here and the sound was awful, this is the second time Ive been to this venue and the sound was not up to par. The mics were low, the instruments were not leveled and the background singers were not EQ properly. I will not attend anymore concerts here, and the seats were super uncomfortable.
This is an old facility. Our seats feel like they could break every time we sit down. And Fair Park is just so far away. But the staff is very nice and the shows are great.
Every show Ive seen here has been excellent. Ive certainly seen worse on Broadway. Even the cheap parking isnt bad. The acoustics are very good and stage always well done. Food isnt overpriced at the buffet and is usually good. (I wont say excellent), drinks are phenomenally expensive. The coordination for handling the bathrooms at a sold out show during intermission was impressive, including the womens btw. Seating is comfortable and slightly larger than Bass Hall. Im a bigger man and I fit ok, I just had to make a deal over the armrest occupancy. This is a favorite venue of our family.
This venue is a really great place! The seats are nice and wider than most other places. One real concern is, wishing they had more elevators. Staff are cordial and respectful. Id attend any other event anytime here! Those that are leaving... be courteous to the parking monitors... your honking is not going to get you out ANY sooner! If youre in that much of a rush to get out... then leave before the perfomance is done. Its funny to hear the honking... but even funnier to listen and hear the parking attendants single you out. BE PATIENT, theres a method in allowing the parking lot to empty. If you get an opportunity to attend something here... do so, also youll probably want a jacket... its really cool and comfortable inside! Enjoy...
This is a wonderful theater. Excellent acoustics and views from every seat.Hello Dolly was quite a spectacular show with excellent performance and outrageous costumes. The band sounds really good.
The Lion King was Breath Taking. A must see for all ages. 5 STARS.
Comfortable seats, comfortable level of air conditioning, and very professional staging. Ushers and staff were very helpful throughout the building. The system for getting hundreds of patrons through the ladies rooms during intermission was amazing- great planning and execution!! Only problem we had on arriving at Fair Park was being unable to find the valet parking entrance- better signage needed for that.
We enjoy the Dallas Summer Musicals and have season tickets every year. This venue was built in a different time so seating is not as comfortable as other venues but it is still a great place to see a play.
Dallas Summer Musicals are Broadway plays. They are at the Fair Park Music Hall at Fair Park, Dallas, Texas. DSM is one of the top picks for Broadway plays going on the road. The facilities are very nice and the staff is wonderful, including the Customer Service Office. Im disabled and all the staff always ensure I am taken well care of, needing nothing.
Tremendous show. Great virus protection. Parking adequate.
Had a lot of fun. Got to see DanTDM perform. Parking was free and easy to get to. Was within walking distance of parking lot. Once inside it was very comfortable.
I just loved this place, sadly I was soooo tired after a very long travel and been awake the whole day, beside that, a really nice music Hall
There are plenty of parking spaces near the venue. The hall is big and easy to find
Went for lunch and Fiddler on the Roof musical, summer of 2019.Food (buffet) was good; meat was on the tougher side. Live music during lunch was ok. Parking was good. Got floor seat on the side. Was still able to see mostly everything on stage. Lighting was phenomenal. The lady bathroom line during half time was crazy long, looping between 2 floors. But the ushers were very efficient and the line moved very fast.
The acoustics were fine, but our seat was literally the very last row up in the balcony. Very difficult for mobility-impaired visitors to get to. They need more handrails along the aisles. Also, PLEASE REDESIGN THE PLACE FOR MORE WOMENS RESTROOMS!! There was a huge line waiting to get into the One and Only Ladies Room, which had about only 6 stalls. Several women, including me, did not get back to our seats in time to see the start of the second act.The parking was good, very helpful lot attendents and good traffic flow. We got in and out easily, for a very popular, almost sold-out show. The parking for this show was free.
The facility is nice and clean. The staff are polite and helpful. Love the chairs! Very comfortable and rocks! Saw Aladdin and it was Wonderful! And the parking was a breeze to boot!
I love it! Great place! The staff was good.
I love their shows! You can see from any seat in the theater and the sound is good. The only reason I gave it a 4 instead of 5 stars is because they only have one restroom area in the basement. They do a great job of getting people through quickly but the intermission is not long enough to get all the ladies through and back to their seats.
Great seats pretty much everywhere. Only problem I have is that the sound is inconsistent at times. However, they do have these headphones you can rent for very cheap which I would recommend. Staff is friendly and it is clean.
The venue is a little cramped but the performance of CATS was INCREDIBLE! Food at the Crystal Terrace was fantastic. Lots of friendly, helpful staff.
2 stars for the venue and 4.5 stars for the performance. The shuttles from the parking lots were nice and we did not have to pay for parking which is a big plus. The seating needs some updating. The balcony seating is cramped and needs to be more comfortable. I am 6-2 and my knees were touching the back of the chair in front of me. This is my 2nd time to see Hamilton. My 1st was in Chicago last year. Dallas Hamilton was great but not quite as good overall as Chicago Hamilton! Both had their pluses and minuses. I didnt feel the energy from the Dallas performers through the first 3/4 of the My Shot song! The rest of the show had the energy! Everyone and anyone should see Hamilton! Music Hall at Fair Park needs updating!
Just saw Hello Dolly on July 20, 2019 at 730pm show. The staff at the theatre is fantastic, very friendly helpful and made the whole theater experience and very pleasant and fun filled evening. This great experience started in the parking lot with the helpful attendants out there and continued with all staff we encountered.Thank you for a very pleasant and enjoyable experience
The facilities are spectacular. Parking and getting into the facilities are a bit of a pain. I dont recommend CATS unless you are there for the dancing only. There is not a real story. It is very chaotic
Ive been here to watch Dear Evan Hansen, it was the most fun Ive had in a while and this place is wonderful for any preformance
The building is beautiful inside. The staff was helpful and couteous. Thank you for booking Peabo and Jeffrey!! Their my favorite artists!!
We came to see Dear Evan Hansen! It was a great experience. The seats were great and the sound and view was amazing.
Love going to musicals here! Hamilton was the BEST!!
The shows have been great this season. However, Im not a fan of the seats in Fair Park Music Hall. They are so low. And I cannot believe the number of people who show up late, come in late, and the number of people who get up and go in and out during the shows. We also had season tickets to the symphony. The symphony crowd somehow is able to show up on time, and stay in their seats until intermission.
Great place. Excellent family magic show. Wonderful service.
Great experience every time! Notable improvements in the past few years ~ booster seats for kids and staff helps to direct the flow of people during intermission! Loved watching Aladdin!
The seats were comfy. Im short so it worked for me but a tall person would be uncomfortable. The building does need an update and the theatre could use TVs for the balcony section. But otherwise it was good. I knew in advance the bathrooms were awkward so we avoided those and went prior to the start of the show.
We accepted two tickets to see Fiddler On The Roof Sunday (8/18/19), balcony seats second row, we were so excited, free tickets dont come our way often. Excited quickly changed sadly, only to have to sit in the smallest most uncomfortable seats (no padding left on them) but wait, the air conditioning was nonexistent as it was under repair. With a 3,420 seat performing arts facility at Texas Fair Parks Music Hall, one cannot begin to imagine the amount of heat rising from the lower level to the upper level and the amount of people in the balcony fanning as fast as their wrists could. Intermission could not come fast enough so we could get to our cars and some AC!!!!!!!!
Great venue for concerts. Not a bad seat in the place.
Me and my dad went to see Anastasia and it was amazing. The acting and singing was wonderful. I would highly recommend going to see one of the shows. We sat at the very top and paid $50.00 a person so if you dont mind paying definitely go.
We saw Hello Dolly it was amazing. We had good seats. The theater was really cold I wish I would have had a sweater but it was a great time
I enjoyed the musical Hamilton however, it was hard to enjoy because the seats were so close together, both from the sides and the front. Im also a plus size gal and the seats were too tight around my thighs. I would go there again
Beautiful and cozy venue. Very retro feel but inviting.
Aladdin was so fun! The costumes and set design were gorgeous. And they Incorporated enough original songs so the audience could sing along We loved it!
The Music Hall at Fair Park is beautiful and just a lovely experience from beginning to end. Acoustics are fantastic. Cannot say enough in praise of the venue .... but, HAMILTON!! This is an unbelievable experience. You must not miss this production. You wont be sorry. I am 79, and I thoroughly enjoyed the hip-hop music and lyrics. Really.
Miss Saigon - the presentation itself was good. About the 4th time Ive seen this show. This particular one is better than middle of the road, but not phenomenal, but not exceptional. The lead character known as the mechanic had a good voice but his stage presence was okay.Parking at the Music Hall was well orchestrated. All the attendants moves traffic along and were friendly. The ushers, while friendly, didnt have a good grasp of the theater and directing you to your area. The seats in the Music Hall are miserable. Theres not nearly enough leg room and they are narrow. This thing itself detracted from the overall experience. Im 64 and there was literally no where for my legs. Had to sit sideways all night.
Really beautiful theatre. Great sound, all good seats and plenty of parking.
We went there for an opera performance for kids. The place disappointed me because we used to go to the Opera House where kids can really have a feeling of how real opera feels and sounds like. This place dont have the looks : no balconies, the different levels nor the elegance not the acoustic either. Sad. Perhaps good for other events but not for opera. Also, one of the staff members was very rude. I didnt luke that. Rough not welcoming. This was a one hour experience for them and she didnt make them feel good. :(
Getting the season pass was one of the best decisions my wife and I ever made. Weve had such a great time at every show. Treat yourself to a show, you wont regret it.
The DSM is my new favorite venue for concerts. The chairs were comfortable, the whole arena was clean. The employees were very hospitable. The view was fantastic. It was a very intimate setting.
Our family got season passes last year, and have really enjoyed all of the shows! Lion King and School of Rock were our family favorites! We cannot wait for the upcoming shows, especially Hamilton!
Great music with Betty Wrights. Lenny Williams. Latimore and others.
Very nice play.
Excellent place to go see touring musicals!
The acting and the play was very good for the amount of time we were able to stay. The air conditioner went out and it was extremely hot! We had to leave the performance, because it was so hot and my husband was getting sick.
Great looking theater and cool place. Very organized intermission time. Went to see Aladdin (decent show) but overall theater was great.
What a Upgrade!! I have been in Dallas for over 30 years, they finally updated Fair Park Music!! I cant wait for the next event.
Saw the national touring production of Miss Saigon. Very impressed. Acoustics are a bit weird at music Hall at fair Park, so in the balcony it was often hard to hear every word of the production, but the sets, the top notch acting, and the great vocals made up for it. The sets were super enjoyable, made great use of the space in adding numerous different settings, flipping sets to turn into new locations, lots of lighting effects, an actual helicopter with working rotor, etc.The seats at music Hall are pretty uncomfortable and way too close together to sit for 3 hours without discomfort, but the venue looks nice, the lobbies are large and taken care of, parking is free and plentiful.A nice experience especially if you can get cheap seats. I dont think Id spend $80+ for what most of the shows go for even for aftermarket sellers.
Looking forward to this seasons musicals! Older theater, but charming. Restaurant on site and lite bites upstairs, bars, arrive early and avoid traffic.
Saw Hamilton here and it was amazing. Enjoyed the acoustics and the smaller venue.
Jill Scott was the best Ive ever seen her.
The food was COLD but Jeffery Osborne was WONDERFUL!
The setup was fantastic. I went with a friend and we had a wounderful brunch wit cocktails. Hello Dolly was performed and it was wounderful.
Love this place, seats need to be updated, but sound for musicals is good.
We saw Les Miserables here. The show was amazing. The tickets are a little pricey especially if you want to get a good seat to see everything in detail. Beware in the back as its hard to see and feels like youre standing in your grave. (See what I did there?) But the production of the play we saw was so dang good so Im basing my rating off that. The props, lighting, stage design etc was superb. And thats saying something because Im not even into the Arts and I could appreciate that.
Great venue for plays & musicals. There is a bistro upstairs that has a good selection of sandwiches, sushi, and desserts. Order your drinks for the second act beforehand through the bartenders or with the app to save time during intermission.
First time we loved it!!!
Whatever show you go to see plan on a great performance. However, parking will be a nightmare, you will be cramped in your seat, the seat will crack and squeak, restroom facilities are not adequate you will be in line for all of intermission then miss the first few minutes of second act, exiting and getting home will be a slow process. Whatever is playing here will be playing at Bass performance hall, you wil have a far more enjoyable experience at Bass performance Hall. I will be only attending performances at Bass in the future.
