I highly recommend this place if you want try out custom made drinks. Rare to the area cocktails are made here. Be prepared to pay for what you get as well as an amazingly different dark environment, much like the magic time machines up stairs, to savor your majestic concoction. :) cheers
Truth & Alibi is a must go if you are in the Dallas area. It one of those clubs that when you enter the front door it looks like a candy shop and if you know the right words to say, to back wall opens up and you enter the club. The decor is pretty cool with big chairs almost like thrones. Soft plush velvet seats. And a stage area. They also have this guy in the very back room near a kitchen who makes the best monkeys in town but he dont bartend. Zayne was very cool, friendly, and inviting. I still dont know exactly if he is a manager, owner, or a frequent patron. Check this place out then decide for yourself if you like it.
Excellent spot to spend time alone or talk business. i can see why they have a lot of good reviews.
A Speakeasy from the 1920s FOR 2020. The Candy shop in front is a perfect prelude with a man in front who handles the exchange with class, authenticity, and powerful mystique. Once inside; the decor is purely cinematic. Chandeliers with splashing cool and warm colors. Velvet chairs, curved couches, and a classic atmosphere that creates poriferal flashbacks of ghosts of a prohibition long since past. Ask for the cocktail menu and be welcomed by the most unique cocktail menu youll find (it will GLOW you away). If youre unsure; the Absinthe Sour will make you sure....youre in the right place. We won.
Very cool vibe, if you ever want to find an escape with some friends or your significant other this is the place to be. The crowd is young late twenties at most and when they bring out drinks for parties it looks almost divine.
Totally lit
Such a cool place! Great drinks. Just wish it was bigger
Always a fun stop!
The bar is a hidden treasure behind a candy shop and definitely worth your visit. The music and atmosphere is good. The security and service does an amazing job not to overcrowd too much with people and at the same time take care of safety and drinks. The space for dancing is limited which removes one star to make it a perfect all nighter.
Pretty unique entrance, fun atmosphere, just a little small and packed. Overall a good time.
A speakeasy that actual required a password was cool. This place was fun with great music
Fun speak easy with great music, great drinks and a cool atmosphere. It all starts with knowing the weekly password. You can find that on the clubs FB page. Once behind the candy wall, you walk into a very nicely decorated cocktail lounge. The music is a mix of hip hop, old school hip hop and will have even the non dancers movin. They have a cool cocktail menu that comes nicely lit with an LED and makes picking your cocktail or other drink choices easy to see.Stop in to this cocktail lounge, order a drink and enjoy one of Deep Ellums best spots!
Very small and cozy, good music
Awesome vibe, beautiful decor so classy and elegant! Service was great we were in town celebrating my best friends bachelorette party and employee gave us a free round of strawberry champagne delicious! Made our experience unforgettable ️
Must know secret password to get in enough the candy shop. Once you get in, theres a large bar and a small bar. It feels like a VAMPIREs LAIR which is super intimate and music is popping. Fog machines and dark atmosphere. Fun place to be but can get hectic later at night. Parking is free if you find the right places, otherwise expect to pay and walk a short distance.
The best Deep Ellum club. Looks like a candy shop from outside and the bouncer needs a password which you can get from the Facebook page. They dont rack up drink prices as the night goes which you will find many clubs do nearby. 10 dollars will get you any drink. Its much more cost effective to get a bottle if you are with 6 or more people. They recommend booking a table but unless its the peak at Saturday night you can just hang around one and seat yourself.
Fun venue to dance the night away.
5 stars if they would have played Tupac bringing our bottles out...
Aka the “Candy Shop” which has a hidden door that takes you to the bar inside. Looks amazing and the music is amazing! The bouncers there are super friendly and make sure everyone’s taken care of! Thank you Zain, Bobbie, Chris and others for an amazing experience!
Dont come here if youre a group of men, they only allow you in if youre a women, have a reservation, or are accompanied by woman (for every man). Looked like a cool place but found this out after waiting in the cold with my husband and his buddies from out of town.
Nice speak easy. Get password from their Facebook page. Nice mix of music and crowd. Not the biggest place and can get packed after midnight when its most busy. Still one of my favorite places to go.
The place plays good, boppin’ music but it would be better if they didn’t have so many tables and benches and couches where there could be dancing space. Most of them stay empty and if you try to dancing someone is constantly passing you and interrupting you.
Will never go back. They max out the space so you can barely move. I was standing against a wall and a bouncer was backing into me to let VIPs through, which I was not in the way, he was. The bartenders are nice, the bouncers and room sucks. I would rather go to high and tight or the hotel in Downtown that has a speakeasy.
The entrance is incredible. It looks like a candy shop. To get inside the club, youll need a password (you can find it online on their website). Be prepared to wait a little to get in. There is a line most of the time during the weekends. The club is pretty small but very nicely decorated. It can be pretty packed which makes it hard to dance (again, especially during weekends). It also can be hard to get a bartender taking your order, even at the counter. Outside of that, the atmosphere is awesome!
Great atmosphere and dope music
Love this bar but its pretty small and they fill up to capacity quick. U have to get there early and know the password (posted on thier FB page each week)(or you can ask someone in line lol) then go in find a seat, grab a drink and enjoy.
The staff was great!!! Excellent bottle service!!!
Great speakeasy style bar, gets very crowded though. Music and crowd are both pretty good! Drinks are strong and priced fairly too.
The entrance part is fun. We got there early and were the first to arrive but we enjoyed it being empty. The couches and set up are very cool but they could update them or clean them. Its very dingy. Bartenders were fun though.
Cute little spot with good looking bar tenders. How could you not love it.
Great music.. Mixed crowd. Does get quite packed whenever Ive been there.
AVOID THIS PLACE! The employees here are absolutely disrespectful. The manager is racist. He let an Asian group in and didnt let us in because he was upset with a Hispanic group. I dont think he knows how to run a business. I would give this place zero stars if I can. My friends were going for the first and they were disgusted by the treatment and the managers attitude. They will never go back here and neither will I. I hope they learn how to include all races. This is 2018 and racism is still alive at this place. Please avoid this place like this plague as there are other bars around here that treat you like a human being rather than a number in line to get in.
Fun place to dance the night away!
This place is pretty neat inside. Definitely has a creative side to its interior. Usually takes forever to get in so get in line a little earlier. Its a but crowded inside usuallg but the music and energy level keeps its fun and worth it.
Amazing pizza for a reasonable price! I had the gluten free crust and it was one of the best I have ever had. Our server was very attentive and our food was brought out promptly. The restaurant is small but cozy. We arrived early so there was a very short wait. As we were leaving we did see lots of people waiting, so its best to arrive early because this place is clearly popular.
Wonderful place had fun
Dont get a table here! You will be fighting off jerks all night who climb over you to get past the bar. Places like citizen and theory actually treat those who pay for a table better.
Fun atmosphere, good hip hop, rnb and pop music
Had a good time at Truth & Alibi! We got there a little early and got a booth before it got packed. Next thing we knew it was wall to wall! Upscale lounge vibe with mix of dance, hip hop and club music. Dress well!
A little crowded but great fun
Amazing decor and great drinks. I could have done without the profanity-laden rap music that was on the whole time I was there, which clashed hard with the awesome late 20s decor.
Place was packed with good energy and pretty amused people. The downside is that you cannot be anywhere because people were passing and passing by and by; got to watch your drink not to get spilled. Being popular has its downside... but is a good thing. Almost impossible to dance and impossible to be standing. Maybe Im just old. Thats it!
Awesome atmosphere! Very unique & fun!
Very romantic spot
Best bar and dance club in Dallas. T&A maintains an upscale and friendly crowd. The bartenders and staff rock
This club is really fun and gets very busy on the weekend. Overall the service is good, but I did ask for water to be brought to our VIP table multiple times over an hour timespan, and they never brought any. A new VIP table showed up and they just ignored us after.
Fun place with a cool gimmick, but the small space and few drink options lower the score. A concept-bar that is passed its prime
Fun but really crowded.
This place was classic cool. Very clean, plush seating, and the staff is dressed to the 9s. Music was 90s and early 2000s club fare. The password thing is a nice gimmick. The only thing I could complain about was that it was so popular we couldnt find seating.
Bouncers are rude and lets in his “friends” mostly whyte people. Once inside, it’s so packed in there.
Very, very neat venue. Not a place to chill and relax, but a good place to live it up and have some drinks. Super crowded. If youre looking for a party vibe, this is a great place! Music is cranked up, and the design and decoration is very cool!
This place is so cool! Best speak easy ever!
Awesome AF. Just dont have someone in your group puke all over themselves and you will have a good time.
What started as a cool vibe quickly stopped short after the neon lights, strangely bright LED menus and bad club music. This is a glorified bar and not a great one at that.
Loud, crowded and sticky.... not my favorite place.
I love going to T&A, but wont dare come down there too late with any males (hubby) because I am pretty sure they wouldnt let us in. But, me and my girl get in every time. Amazing atmosphere, the music is great but we miss the big video screen they used to have up. Drinks are perfect.
My favorite bar to visit when Im back in my hometown. Love the atmosphere and the music. Drinks are slightly over priced, but I wasnt expecting anything less. I always have good service
It was very loud but they had an uncanny number of very attractive women wearing short skirts and revealing outfits. Really all I remember TBH.
Really good fun but got waaaaay too packed towards midnight !
Much more than a Candy shop. This hidden Bar / Club has a great atmosphere with eclectic guests and engaging staff
AHad an awesome time. The ambiance was great, service was prompt. And I felt like I was tucked away hidden, doing something I wasnt supposed to.
The bouncer who looks like t-pain chooses who goes in, not who’s in line. When you’re in line before 10 you can definitely enter the club. Anytime after, it’s up to him
Always the best experiences here! Staff is nice, bartenders know how to mix a good drink and the music is great. Love coming here with friends.
Opulent speakeasy with great decor, spacious seating, and wonderful service. I got here around 9 on Saturday night and surprisingly it wasnt crowded. I love the decor from the comfy velvety chairs to the chandeliers with black lighting and mirrors. The menus are pretty cool too with LED lights. I ordered a Moscow Mule, which wasnt my favorite and a bit more tart than Im used to.You need to know the password to get in (which you get from FB) otherwise the bouncer wont let you in. The valet is $10-20.I had a much better time here than at Midnight Rambler, which is a bit too hyped up. If you want better ambiance, service, and drinks, then skip Midnight Rambler and come here instead!
Nice place with password to get in!
Wish I could give ZERO STAR. Door guys are Rude to the max. I was so shocked. Too much attitudes. How they run the business like that! Ha I so regretted that I TRIED to bring my friend from over sea to this place, Never Ever AGAIN. Jus wow!!!! So disappointed in America!!! Wow!
Kinda pricey but always fun. It’s a crowded Alice in wonderland-esque bar hidden behind a candy store. Make sure you look up the password on Facebook before heading there
Interesting place. Need a password to get in. Usually pretty busy and crowded but always has attractive people. Some are rude and dont care about your personal space. Geared more towards twenty-somethings club atmosphere.
Strong drinks, music from all genres and some of Dallas finest ladies
Nice hole in the wall. Would definitely bring a group of friends down there. STOUT drinks. Good looking scenery too.
Good music and fun atmosphere. The speakeasy vibe is fun, make sure to know the password!
The password is on their Facebook page... Now that we have that out of the way, its about 50/50 experience here. Door guys are rude, pretty sure rasist too, and they pack WAY to many people in at night so you cant move. However, if you get there at a good time when you dont feel like a stuffed sardine then its a blast. They have good music, the bartenders are super cool, and the drinks are great.
Good music mix but it was packed! Still a good dance night in Deep Ellum and no cover.
Waited in line to get in while probably a dozen people budged in front of us because they knew the bouncer. Once we were in it was packed so tight we couldnt even move. Two stars because they had a clean bathroom. Would not return based off of this experience.
The place where I always take people who visit Dallas, curious place with good music and people
Been here a few times. Great place with a fun password element. Drinks are a little pricey though
Visiting my bestie while she just moved here. Countered this place and loved it! Great music, atmosphere and drinks.
I truly enjoy this place. I love how its in Deep Ellum. Its a nice change from Uptown. The place is five stars because the place isnt big which means its limited on the people it lets in. I enjoy that aspect and when combined with great security, staff, dj, and bottle service.....I got no complaints.
Great Dj, always a win. Never disappoints. Drinks are good and priced appropriately. Dont be shy, go to truth and alibi also, like their Facebook page for the passwords
Way to small in there. Gave 2 bc its pretty inside but the dj was all over the place no room to dance or be. We stayed 10 min..
Enjoyed the time spent at this lovely speak-easy...even got hit with the champagne cork, but bartender didnt care enough to offer a complimentary sip
Really cool speakeasy style bar. Not all that secret but still cool nonetheless
Its not a bad place. It sometimes has requirements wether it be a password, women, a table purchase, or whatever. I still enjoy the music (they have a good dj) and I believe the drinks arent super pricey neither. The place stays packed.
This place makes going out difficult! They need to post rules about males coming without females and dress codes visibly so as not to have ppl standing in cold for absolutely no reason!
Nice place inside the only thing it sucks its there door guys think theyre bad ass and tough. WEAK!
Not worth all the hype. Too crowded, bouncers are rude, drinks take too long and are over priced. Music is just OK.
Had so much fun. Young crowd but not in an awkward way. Great music. We are going next weekend.
Lounge. Not a dancing bar.
It was a nice vibe in here. Too much reserved seating though.
Love the idea. Popular. Gets packed but its fun
0 star if i could give. This review is to let owners know about their mismanagement. They have wait queue on the main gate and people are standing over there. The guy Bobby at the door is not letting go anyone inside, if you know him or you are a girl then you can go through the front gate. Being there at first in queue for 40 minutes we ask him about entry and he asked money from us, you make me happy and ill make you guys happy. The other at the side gate where a tall man with beard is bouncer, he only takes girls from the side gate or person having table booked, if you are stag then same scene of bribing him some money to enter club. This is the pathetic club i have even seen where bouncers are bribing money but they forgot there are lots on Elm street. I will never go here again.
Amazing place worth trying!
