Mixed atmosphere. Cool club
This was a great experience with a lot of different cultures coming together as one and providing laughter and fun for everyone. The staff was absolutely amazing in not rude at all like other venues that I experience. There is also a great flow even when crowded. This security team was absolutely amazing. And the music was on pointI recommend this venue to anyone and everyone to come try it out. Its like my second home now and thats exactly how inviting the staff is I would definitely be back
It been so bad service and very expensive prices I believe it’s over priced
They secretary guy was asking to pay him moneyVery bad experience
Was lit AF! Definitely a hot spot
The bouncers are rude, this whole club is super strict so dress to THEIR liking. The staff there is rude. Don’t take too long in the restroom or else you’ll get kicked out. When you go to Deep Ellum you go to have a good time, I did NOT have a good time here.
Busy place. Bar is nice and staff are friendly. Thats all the good stuff.Small space, so its hard to dance and even harder to find seats to chill and take a breath. One thing that bothered me is that they have paid reserved seating blocking the entire seating areas, except for two seats out of 50+ seats. For a name like punk society, thats an insult to its name.
Boring if you get there early
If no stars was an option that would be my honest rating. Never going there again. Went with a group of friends and were turned down because they said they were full and could only let in “certain” people. We waited and the only people allowed were all Caucasian. There was another group of who weren’t let in either because they weren’t Caucasian and the security did not justify why. Expected much more for a place in Deep Ellum.
Just a heads up. They automatically add a 20% gratuity on all checks even if you’re ordering at the bar. Never heard of such a thing. I just figured the drinks were pricey and ended up tipping 20% on top of that. Easy mistake when you’ve been drinking and the receipt still has a tip line. I just wish they would have mentioned it when I ordered or removed the tip line altogether. Let whoever wants to tip on top of gratuity do a separate transaction.Other than that, pretty good music and vibe on Saturday. Definitely gets crowded an hour or so before closing which kept us from sticking around.
Super over priced drinks, I ordered a redbull and vodka, couldnt even drink it because the vodka was so cheap. I feel like they act a little out of their league with bouncers telling me I cant stand near the empty vip section when there was barely anywhere else to go. Good music but seems like nothing but a clout chasers heaven.
OMG! I HAD A BALL. BEST PLACE EVER. THE CROWD SHOWED UP LATE, BUT IT FELT LIKE AUSTIN. EVERYONE WAS SO FRIENDLY, BUT A FIGHT BROKE OUT AROUND 230. HOWEVER, SECURITY CLEARED IT UP REAL QUICK. LOVE THIS PLACE
I went on Saturday night and the DJ played a lot of good music. It was a little cramped around the bar, not much room to actually dance but the vibe was good none the less. Friendly and diverse crowd.
Absolutely awful DJ. The old guy was much much much better than this guy who is playing my high school prom music. Ruined my night.
Was told not to come back.
Amazing place to go good atmosphere safe for bouncers are on their job ask for Saif if you go there
Cool place to hang out
If you’re looking for a spot to party at Saturday or Sunday night, this is it! Although it’s in deep Ellum, people still dress up for this spot. A lot of throw backs when it comes to music, and also adequate for bottle service. Make sure you get there before midnight if you want to avoid lines
Punk Society has to be one of the Top 5 bars in Deep Ellum. If you want to party come to PUNK!-its lit- the crowd is amazingonly downside is its sorta a small bar but they make up for it in music that matches the intensity of its people. Its your go to bar in Deep Ellum
The music was the only good thing about it. We went last weekend for my birthday and once we got everyone in, all the security were pushing us through the club around the bar until eventually we were back at the exit. Kept being told “you can’t stand here, this is VIP”, or “this is a walkway”. So we stood awkwardly near the door as they again tried pushing us in. Shouldn’t have allowed that many people in the club. We couldn’t even dance there was no room. Also, they wanted $9 for a bottom shelf vodka shot. I could buy the bottle of vodka she poured for $9. Not worth it.
Dont recall coming here but my credit card bill helped me remember. Good times
Great place to hangout, DJ Gil Mopera, DJ SoPaul, and Julie Mopera makes it a great environment to be in. Also best bar service done by Chris Kim!!!
Cool place to party
This place was amazing. Great drinks and good dancing music! Definitely worth checking out.
Ok so, I don’t know if the owner/manager knows and don’t care or if is part of the “business” but every single person that wants to go in there will have to give money to the ppl at the door and is not a cover is actually for them, they’re asking for 20-30 per person on a very shady way. The guy literally said if we don’t know you you will not get in, or you’re gonna have to give me money...there’s 2 of them, asian guy and afroamerican guy.Hope the owner is not part of that and if he “doesn’t know” then man you gotta do something, ppl working for you is making money in a wrong way out of your business...
This place is amazing! The bartenders are fast, they make great drinks and the music is legit. Weve gone to a lot of places in Deep Ellum. This is definitely one of our favorites!
Completely dead Thursday night, drinkers are overpriced even for a club. Bouncers/service seemed fine.
Nice details inside
Super cool decor on the interior, and not too packed. The DJ was questionable.
Punk was not on while I was there, but it was delightful anyway.
This place never disappoints
Fun place to party in Deep Ellum. Crowd is a decent mix and the drinks are always on point. Bottle service is priced right where it should be. Bartenders and cocktails are friendly and always make you feel welcome.
Bouncers are unnecessarily rude and rough. I was laughed at for being the DD, ridiculed about my job, and pushed back into the crowd multiple times. I’m a girl and those are huge dudes. They were rough and not trying to make me leave. Just trying to be rude.
It was totally dead on the Friday we went but we left at midnight. Maybe they pick up after.. it wa also the day before St. Pattys. It was fun anyway and they played good music. Drinks are outrageously expensive but to be expected.
Too crowded and the bartenders include their gratuity when you order drinks EVEN though it takes forever to get a drink or their attention.
THIS IS LEGENDARY
Awesome club with a great DJ that kept the party going til it was over. A great crowd of people go here.
Good atmosphere. All types of different people here. Good vibes, and good music.
Fun social club
Nice spot could be better just have girls with you. If its nothing but guys be ready to wait for a long time!
Really lame. Nothing to do and not much to see. The only seating available is two busted up chairs unless you want bottle service. Literally every booth is bottle service only. Not worth the time or money.
Awesome music and good drinks. Played mostly EDM on a Friday night. Plenty of room, but not a ton of seating area. Most seating looks like you have to reserve the space.
Ive been to this place a lot of times, I cant complain about how fun it is, and good vibe it gives you. However I went, and it took me atlest 1 hr. to get to the front of the line, once there the host at the front was rude, he got mad b/c we asked how much longer will it take for him to let us in (a bunch of people were coming out), and he said just b/c we asked that it would take much longer, and then he tried charging our guy friends $20 each to go in. This is super bad customer service, I understand they do not care b/c regardless people will keep coming, but it would be nice for the owner to change this rude people, and see who he hires, they need training on how to assist customers. I always refer this place to my friends, just b/c its a fun vibe, and this time I was so embarrassed but how poorly we got treated.
I got kicked out because a man put his hands on me. THEY WILL KICK YOU OUT IF A MAN LAYS THEIR HAND ON YOU. I WOULD GIVE 0 STARS. THEY KICKED ME OUT BUT LET THE GUY STAY. THIS IS NOT OK. WOMEN IF YOU ARE READY TO BE DISRESPECTED DONT COME HERE. THEY DID NOT BELIEVE, 3 MEN KICKED ME OUT. THEY OBVIOUSLY PREFER MEN CLIENTELE.
This place is a joke to get in. Waited an hour then i got frustrated so tried to buy my way in and they asked for 1000. I offered 200 for 3 people lmao he said i make 6 figures a year. He said it would take 1000 to get in. No bar is worth 1000. I had hard time offering 200 if anythin i really only wanted to pay max 20 per person to skip line.
Management was very disrespectful to my party, after buying two tables to celebrate they held my party at the door for 30 minutes. Will spend my money elsewhere next time
This is Not a Punk bar. I repeat, Punk Society IS NOT A PUNK BAR! There, had to get that out first in case any visiting punks might get mislead from the name on Google maps.Ive been here twice.1st time - I wanted to check out a 90s hip hop night. Much like the name of the bar, the name of the hip hop night was extremely misleading. I walked in and out within the space of 15 minutes. Didnt even bother to buy a drink.2nd time - I took a girlfriend who wanted to dance to something not rock and not fast techno. I took her here. It was crazy packed. Too packed. Drink prices were outrageous. And she wasnt impressed at all with the music. So we left in the space of a half hour.I wish this bar would change its name. In the scheme of awful Uptown-like bars that have cropped up in Deep Ellum over the last few years, this one isnt the worst. Not by a long shot. And the truth is, Deep Ellum needs diversity in its entertainment to thrive. Changing the name to reflect the actual intention of the bar would go a Long way in easing animosity among the real punks and other folks who kept Deep Ellum alive during the downturn of the early 2000s. RIP July Alley.
Lit music great bartender and sic atmosphere
I heard this place is decent, but every time I go they dont let me or my friends in. Luckily, Café Salsera nearby never lets me down with their great music selection.
Wasent aware that the place had a dress code before i drove all the way from arlington...Also wasnt aware that drake was punk rock...
Had a great night out for my friends birthday, so much fun!
Diverse crowd, great DJ! WOULD Definitely return.
This is a great to come and have fun
Not bad for a deep ellum club. Tony the manager has brought his many years and precision experience in the gay bar business to a new level. No pole is left unsmoked in this bar. A truly magical Rupaul venue.
Turn tf up on a sunday
This was a normal hangout spot for my friends and I when going to Deep Ellum. However, our last time going was in July; I paid for my (1) beer with a credit card. Upon reading my credit card statement I noticed that I was over charged $4.00. I know that isnt a lot to squawk over as the $ amount isnt the reason for this review. After seeing this I spoke with my friends that also attended PS that night, 2 of them were also over charged and happened to pay with a credit card. I contacted PS management and explained my concern, questioning if these overages were a mistake or if perhaps the bartenders could possibly be throwing themselves an extra bone. I have yet to hear back from them in regards to a resolution and/or an explanation for credit cards being over charged or what the underlying issue could be. If this was a mistakes (which I would like to believe so), management should provide the reassurance needed to ensure their customers remain customers because this inevitably feels deceptive.
Terrible experience. I was told because I am dark-skinned that I am not attractive enough to attend the venue. This is a racist bar. I would not recommend this to anyone. The two men pictured below do not let African-American women in.
Place is soo small. The lines to get in are ridiculous.. youll be waiting for 30+ mins. Bouncers are picky, they will only let u in if u tip them. This place is not all that.
Its Always LIVE
It was pretty small and crowded although we did go on a Saturday night. They have bottle service options there.
Good music.
Best in deep ellum
I give this place two years tops.
Awesome place, great music, awesome vibe
The DJ that jumps all around did not have a good flow of music, but went another time and the music was popping. The bar is too crowded and the bathroom is in the most awkward spot.
Garbage place. Bouncers suck and wait an whole hr just to get in.
Usually good music but the drinks are usually more expensive than the rest of deep ellum and gets very crowded.
My spot
Fun spot!
Good music, but beer overpriced at $7
Couldnt say. Couldnt get in.
Nice..
This place is a joke!!! They dont even have live Punk bands!!!
Typical, fight, fight
Love it
If I could rate this place any lower I would.
Great music
The bouncers are a joke !!, if youre a guy and want to get in without waiting for 1hr in line, you gotta give the bouncers $20 otherwise you will watch how other people are going to get in and out
Trash spot!
Pricey
Cool spot, a mix of a bar and club!
Place is too small and drinks are over priced.
Awesome place
AWESOME place to party
Oh yeah.
Rude staff, awful place
Belongs in uptown
