This park has wonderful paths around the pond to walk and reflect in silence.

Spectacular hike from CCHS down the tracks and into Walden. The one-way rule was great, not too many people. 4.3 miles RT.

We got a guided tour and ended up having two tour guides. The first guide Jackie gave a quick description of Herny David Thoreau but she said 1.50 * 6 is 160 which is quite off. Also she said Arkansas is right next to Florida. Our next guide Elizabeth rambled on for about 30 minutes (too long) she talked about 3 trees for some reason and 4 rooms in 1. If I went again I would go through the muesem then walk shorter hike to the memorial and where Thoreaus house was then to the beach. Overall the experience away from the guides and in the water was really fun.

As a guy that loves books and old book stores this was like magic. The woods are beautiful. The weather was beautiful. To just be here made parts if me complete.I say to anyone go spend a day at Walden Pond, hike back to the cabin site, and just enjoy the peace. One thing though...bugs. bring a can of Off or something. Those little gnats or whatever along the water will drive you nuts.

Complete peace and tranquility. The perfect spot for reflection. It’s amazing to imagine Thoreau at his cabin enjoying these views each morning. The entire Pond and cabin experience is awesome.

A beautiful setting for a jaunt through the woods. I came across this by accident and was pleased to see the place I read about in High School.

Winter time is a perfect time to come and see where Henry had his house because there are no leaves you can see way through the trees and down to the pond but today when I walk there it was Sub-Zero and Thoreau Cove was frozen, in fact I was frozen

I love that history was so appreciated in this place. Everything that possibly could be was preserved, or re-created in order that future generations could learn from the past.

This Divorced GenXer from Troy, New York. Needed to take this secular pilgrimage! Even more profound now. Knowing that my 1600s English & Irish Quaker ancestors from Salem, Gloucester, Swansea and Plymouth, Massachusetts, once lived nearby. RIP.

I have never visited walden pond. I just saw it through Google Maps. I have read the Korean translation of Thoreaus Walden meticulously over months. Although I have seen it through the map, I feel infinite impression. However, there is some doubt as to how much the restored cabin actually reflects its actual appearance.

The walk around the park is scenic, and the trail is easy. Keep in mind the cabin is no longer there, just small bits of foundation. Also, there are people swimming - and sometimes changing - at the far end of Walden Pond.

It is a historical site of the famous author/poet Henry David Thoreau who went to live there in isolation. It is educational for both adult & children.

There is no cabin here. This is the site where Thoreaus cabin WAS. Grab a stone at the trailhead and carry it to the massive cairn below the site. Fascinating location to contemplate this key figure in American philosophy and theology.

Theres no actual cabin BTW. Just a pile of stones. Be sure to bring your own stone to add to the pile

Loved the site very tranquil despite its noterity. On a warm day that lake just begs for a dip, really a good place to visit for many reasons.

I have been jogging or walkng around Walden Pond for thirty years to get out of my head from my work, and to get my exercise. As a Consultant, I have often brought my clients from around the world, to this spot and enjoyed some good dialogue as we walkedIts very tranquil and you dont have to worry about peoples dogs trying to eat you for lunch. Just a walk around the park (Walden State Reservation) and back to work you go.I read most of Henry Thoreaus writing years ago, and often thinking of him when I am walking especially the part about every man must march to the beat of his own drummerI would advise everyone to not walk on the ice in winter. I had a weird experience many years ago, where I walked on the ice, my foot went through it, and I almost went in. It was a scary chilling experience, that I will never forgetThere is a pretty decent beach, and lots of swimming holes you can enjoy in the summer, that have a discreet charm.I did a little research on Walden a while back and learned that years ago it was kind of an amusement part with a lot of rides and honkey tonk. Let me in closing thank the state of Massachusetts and the DCR for turning this into a State Park.
