I did a pottery class before the pandemic and have been unable to contact them to pick up my products. I would like my money back or my products.
My three daughters and myself came and painted pottery March 13,2020. I have called and left messages and emailed regarding the pickup of our 4 pieces and have received zero response. Now I see you are closed, the number is disconnected and the Facebook page is gone. I would like our pieces of pottery or our $80 back. Very bad customer service. Not to mention you were out of 60% of paint colors.
I would NOT recommend this place to anyone. My daughter bought herself and I a pottery class as a Christmas present and on the day of our appointment we showed up about 10 minutes early and was told the class was canceled. They had my daughters phone number but didn’t bother to let us know before we drove the 30 minutes to get there and wasted our time. As if that wasn’t bad enough the girl working wasn’t authorized to give my daughter a refund so was told to call in a couple days. I did that only to find they turned their phone off! I then drove there to be told the owner wasn’t there and they would have her call me. It’s been over a month and still no word! I’m gonna go by there one more time to demand my daughters money! It’s not cheap to take a class. We’re talking about $60 a person! That’s alot of money to cheat someone out of. Maybe that’s how the owner can afford to never be there Please beware of this place!!
Dani was a great instructor! Very knowledgeable and helped us out and made the class fun. Would definitely come back again!
I went to the Recreational Art Studio this weekend with a friend to paint some pottery. Had a great experience and I am excited to see how my piece turns out. Danny and Christen were very helpful.
Went looking for a new pottery place and found recreational art studio. First impression was that it was very small (not a problem) but they had several pieces to choose from. My friends and I decided to make ornaments for Christmas presents and we were told 3 days for them to be ready. Well it is now day 5 and have called several times with no answer so decided to show up and the pieces are still not done and it is just a few days before Christmas, so much for having presents for people.Edit: it is Christmas Eve and I showed up to pick up my pottery for the second time. They said come Christmas Eve well what is today? CHRISTMAS EVE!!! And they are closed. Show up to a note saying they are closed. Now Christmas presents are going to be late. Thanks recreational art studio
Bought a Groupon for a class on Saturday afternoon for Pottery Wheel Experience. The class was sold out on the website, but when we started the class, there were only 6 people. It was great to have a teacher with a small class. Amanda was our instructor, and she was very experienced and instrumental. We had a great time, and value wise, it was really worth it. The location was convient with lots parking space, and it was close to Concord Mill. I would recommend this place for anyone who wants to experience something new.
Loved painting the pottery. May just have to try the pottery wheel.
** BEWARE!! Long, but worth the read. **My sister, my mom, and myself went here on 11/23 to paint the ceramic Christmas tree for the class they were offering. Upon arriving, we are told they did not have the Christmas trees that my sister had ordered that they promised would be there! They quickly found some extras in the back, though, so no biggie. There was no guided instructions by the instructor on what to do and the brushes were very worn with little to no paint, which as the last reviewer who gave a bad review stated. I have never painted pottery before and my mom made it known she hadn’t, but still VERY MINIMAL help/advice. Now getting to the pick up part, I arrived on 12/7 @ 6:30PM to pick up my tree and my sisters after the fire glazing process. Upon arriving, I wanted to buy some pottery for my kids and put snow on my tree, but I was told they had a class at 7 PM (which was nowhere on social media stating they were closing early, just a hand made sign on the door) and they had to set up for it, so I wouldn’t have time. I just picked the trees up and left. It wasn’t until I got home and started unboxing my tree that I noticed a rather large crack on my tree and that I was missing the light to it. It was packaged very well, so this crack could not have happened in transit and it’s a crack you would definitely notice while painting. I also put my name on my stand and on my tree, but my tree only has my name on it which I’m afraid it could have possibly been dropped and they tried to cover it up hence the crack on my actual tree? I don’t know, because I have messaged the page directly here on Facebook, I have called and left a voicemail, I have even reached out to the old page (the pottery cottage) to have this addressed and especially pick up my light that I’m missing for it!! It’s been 48+ hours and NO RESPONSE OR CALL BACK. Yet, the messages have been read from both pages. I also live about 35 minutes away one way. Please do not waste your money! Unfortunately, I made the mistake of paying in cash ($60) and was not given a receipt.Edit to add: they just reached out and will be in contact in regards to coming back in and painting a new treeEDIT AGAIN: Never heard back from them since last communication almost a month ago - remembered I haven’t heard back from them, so went to check and saw they had blocked me. So instead of making it right like a business should do, they just treat customers like this. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
Customer service is great, I had a Groupon deal. I needed to cancel the day of, and they were very quick on canceling then allowing me to reschedule at any time. The customer service representative that helped me was Haley.
First time visitor this weekend, we had to ask for assistance of how it worked. There was no welcoming or greeting. We then inquired about writing in pieces like some of the samples, and we were told we could do that and we would be given pens. Then the girl left. New girl came in. I asked new girl for a pen. They were all clogged, and she didnt know how to fix. By that time, I had decorated the piece in preparation for the pen and unable to change it. The recommendation of the worker was to maybe do a sharpie or something later. I feel if you expect people to pay $32 for items, you need to have the supplies to not make it look like a $5 piece. We were also given a sponge that had red paint on it which we didnt realize and it ruined a bowl we tried to make too. It was not an experience that would make me return.
I purchased a Groupon for a glass fusion class and attended with a friend. We looked forward to trying a new place and new medium of art. The experience was poor from start to finish. The Groupon value was misrepresented, I emailed to ask for clarification and did not receive a response. When we arrived, the class was oversold, there were not enough materials for everyone, we were left to pick through scraps and share very few tools. The instructor did her best to help but she was stuck between a rock and a hard place with the materials provided. We were told it would be about a week or so before our pieces were done, but it took 3 weeks and multiple calls for them to be ready. When they were picked up today, they had just been completed and do not appear to have been fully fused as promised. We had been looking forward to having a new studio to visit to do art projects but this experience has turned us off from every visiting again. Overall, a very disappointing experience and I would not recommend this studio.
It was a horrible experience. Me and 3 coworkers signed up for a glass class. First the class was over booked . There were only 3 or 4 glass cutting tools for the class of of 16 or 18 people to share. There were not enough glass pieces to use for bases and not enough to use to decorate. So after 2 weeks waiting for a call to pick up our glass I called them to find out 2 of our pieces “ broke “” and they were going to fix them. So our class was on June 30 th and we have heard nothing more about our glass so I stopped on my way home from work and the employee knew nothing and the manager was unable to be reached. This is not the way to run a business. I can say we will not be going back
Fantastic time! The instructor was great. They recently moved and I havent been to the new venue, but I imagine its even more amazing now!
My daughter just did her first class there, and it was great! They were kind and patient, making sure to help all of the kids in the class. I would definitely recommend their affordable classes!!
I purchased a groupon for a glass fusion class and went on 6/30. The class was much too big and the instructor didn’t have enough materials or tools. It was very frustrating to pick through scraps to find enough to use and then to have to wait for a tool to become available to use. Since it was a holiday week we were told that the firing process may take up to a week. I picked up my “finished” product today.. 3 weeks later and only after I called twice to see if it was ready. I was told that it had just been completed today.. I went in to pick it up and it looked a lot like I had left it.. not much fusion took place. I think they just threw it in the kiln so I wouldn’t call again. I had purchased another Groupon for a pottery class but ive cancelled it as the glass fusion has left a sour taste in my mouth. I wouldn’t recommend to anyone.I received a reply from the owner saying she/he reviewed the video/ audio of me picking up the items..and only positive things were said about the pieces.. all I said was I liked the background piece of glass. I don’t hate my piece but I certainly could’ve done it at home with superglue. I guess the overall message of my complaint was missed... the class was oversold, there was not enough materials or tools, and the process took 3 weeks to complete.
Their website is incredibly poor. I could build a better one in my sleep. Whats more, they dont provide any way except their website to sign up for classes, making it in credibly frustrating to join a class. Ive been calling on and off for the last month waiting for them to put up the January classes, but they still havent. Its very frustrating.
Stephanie is amazing. She knows how to laugh and get down to busy at the same time. Great service! Recommend to anyone that loves painting and crafts.
What a wonderful place to hang out with friends, kids & family! Lots of pieces to choose from and now in their new location they have wood, glass, canvas & mosaics to work on! Weve done these in classes before so its great that their new location offers them space so we can do it along with doing pottery! The Mothers Day Special offering today was a huge hit with my family ... there were several other families & large groups in the Studio, all talking and laughing together .... great atmosphere ... we had a blast!!!!! The staff was friendly and attentive, smiling and joking with all the kids. Well definitely be back! The new location ROCKS! Super easy to find and tons of parking!
Loved this place, we went for a paint nite and we had a great time!! The instructor was amazing, she made it so easy for everyone. There is so much to do there too, cannot wait to go back.
I paid for the groupon deal which was $30/person. I have been twice and enjoyed the experiences. It’s not as instructional as you might imagine, though. Mostly young girls working there but there was one woman who was more “instructional” than the girls and it was nice because I really wanted to learn how to work the clay on the wheel. We didn’t feel rushed at all, although during the second visit there were two other ladies in our class that were due to the facility only having two wheels and other classes were coming in. They need to update their info online since they did change the name to Recreational Art Studio and moved a mile down the road. I only knew about the change because I drove 40 minutes out there to see what was going on since the operator kept saying their number wasn’t a working number.
We had a great time on the pottery wheel. This was our first time ever trying this. The staff was very helpful and provided great conversation.
Super great staff. My son really enjoyed the experience. We’ll definitely be back!
I took a class with a deal on Groupon. It really wasnt a class - it was someone showing you a few tips and then they left and went on to help another class. At the end you dont get a fired piece, but I went ahead and PAID to have it fired. It took the class last July and they NEVER called me back to pick up the pieces to paint. I called several times and they said just call back. Finally they said they didnt have them AND wouldnt give me back my money. Would NEVER go back or recommend!
Great for kids and good for adults. We took the pot throwing class; my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
The employees there was very helpful and friendly.. Would recommend anyone that would like to learn how to do pottery ..Ella and thhe other young lady are awesome..
Went here for a party, had a great time! Would recommend to anyone who likes to paint!
Very fun. Took a class on the pottery wheel.
Friendly & helpful staff, relaxing atmosphere, great location for ladies night! Selection is limited and takes EXTREMELY too long to ship finished products to out of state customers. Visited twice, same experience both times (4+ weeks for delivery). Great activity and value with groupon coupon for local customers.
A nice family activity or for special someone
Great time. Great customer service!
The Pottery Cottage is a nice change from the busy high stress environment of our last pottery painting experience. However, be wary of the limited selection of pottery.
Friendly, knowledgeable, patient staff willing to help. A wonderful group or date night experience
This place is a blast to go with young ones or on a fun date.
Arrived with a group of 9 fir Mothers day. I called a week befire to ask about pricing. I asked if there was a studio fee, I was told no that you only pay fir the price of what you pick to paint. I asked if there were any additional charges, again I was told no. So Mothers day is here and I arrive with my group of 9 we pick put our pieces and go to the counter where I am told you know theres a $25 fee for a group bigger than 6 right I explain that no we were not aware. That I called a week ago and was told that there were no hidden fees. To which the employee laughed in my face and said well you can have a mini cupcake if you want. Needless to say my entire group left because of the terrible customer service and we will never be back. Not only that but the website has a different address than where it is located.
My favorite place to work and teach! Great place to chill!
Cool place, very efficient with pottery!
Difficult attitude from the manager when trying to find information about painted pieces.
Small, simple and clean.
