Even with the COVID restrictions the tour and information were great. The gift shop is quaint, it even had cucumbers from the Polk Museum Gardens to take home (donation suggested), as well as honey and jams. The docent was knowledgeable and witty. On the street parking is available for patrons of the museum, free of charge.

James Polk was a one term President by choice. Deemed the expansionist president. Knowledgeable tour guide. Unfortunately due to Covid not allowed to see the upstairs. If in the area worth checking out.

This was an excellent tour. They’ve really done a great job with social distancing. The guide was amazing, and he had an encyclopedic knowledge of all things history. We were treated very special. The presentation was void of any bias or political views. What a treat! It’s like a vacation from the modern world.

Excellent tour- I came in knowing very little about Polk & left with tons of new information! The staff here is incredibly kind & knowledgable, answered every question in great detail. The home & grounds were in excellent condition. Despite the upstairs floor being closed due to coronavirus measures, there was still plenty to see & learn about Polks presidency, his life, & general American politics during this era. The Audubon exhibit was still on display with very beautiful artwork & memorabilia, I really enjoyed it! Recommend to anyone : )

Stopped by on our way home from Nashville. They happened to be closed for some renovations, so we were unable to tour the home. It was very nice, though. Clean gardens, and well-kept grounds around the home. Looking forward to one day being able to head back up and tour the home.

The tour guide was very knowledgeable and engaging. I appreciated his enthusiasm and preparedness. I knew very little about President James K. Polk, but I was impressed by what I learned. The facility is surprisingly small when compared with The Hermitage, but I found it every bit as interesting. I would go again, and I would recommend to anyone with any interest in American history.

Small home and museum with small grounds. This is the only home preserved where Polk lived other than the White House itself. Pleasant tour. Nice local staff. Nothing at all like The Hermitage home of Andrew Jackson in Nashville. James Polk was the 11th president and deserves more than this modest effort considering he added Oregon, Washington, part of Idaho, California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Nevada to the United States. Underrated and rarely discussed very important President. This house and museum definitely worth visiting.

Havent been here since I was a kid in grade school..My gf has never been..today was the day..It was better now that I am older and appreciate history more. Jim did an awesome job with the tour..very informative and took him time with us. Awesome job sir..parking was a snap and the price to tour was very acceptable..dont hesitate, go. Where else can you drive 5 minutes from your house and be in the same room that two former presidents once sat and ate a meal...

Only surviving residence of James K Polk, the house and museum are filled with interesting facts and artifacts of the presidents life. The staff was very knowledgeable and frequently asked for questions. Not a large house or Museum so you are able to fill the tour in within about an hour. The entire experience provided new insight into a relatively unknown president, who is the only president to fulfill all of his campaign promises!

The house is kind of small by todays comparisons but at the time these people were some of the elite of our culture. Beautiful gardens in the back as well great place for photography or just relaxing and enjoying the history of the area.

The house belonged to Polks parents, but he did live there for six years as a young man. There is some furniture from Polks Nashville home. There is some interesting history and there are some original period pieces. It is worth a visit, but dont expect anything like the Hermitage, Mt. Vernon, or Monticello.
