This is the single worst experience I have ever had with a frame shop.My 11 x 14 college diploma has been in a relatively inexpensive frame for ten years, and is now significantly bubbled. I took it to Havens the week of August 17, 2020 for dry mounting. This service seemed quite expensive at ~$35, but I left it with her and paid for the service. I provided my contact information, and was given a date estimate for when the diploma would be ready. I was told that she would call me if the diploma was ready in advance, but I was never called, period. I showed up after the given date, only to find that my diploma had not been worked on at ALL. She gave me another date estimate for when the diploma would be ready, several days later. When I showed up, she brought out the framed diploma, only to find that it was still visibly bubbled. She blamed the bad mounting result on the humidity, and asked me to come back a third time, after several more days.I highly regret giving her the benefit of the doubt by agreeing to this and bringing more artwork to have framed. I brought one matted 8” x 10” photo of a church to be framed. I picked a simple moulding off the wall, and was quite surprised that framing would cost ~$75. I also presented her with a set of seven 6” x 8” prints to be framed. Again, no matting required - just glass and moulding. Her process for creating an invoice for my items was the most disorganized I have ever seen. She never discussed ANY of the normal framing considerations like moulding prices or different glass options with me. I was shocked when she stated that the charge would be around $100 for EACH of these prints! When I politely voiced surprise at the high prices for these small prints, she told me that she uses scrap moulding pieces to frame postcards for one of her other customers. She said she charges only ~$35 for this service. She offered this low-cost option to me, and I expressed that I would be delighted. She said she would text me photos of scrap moulding options over the next few days, so I could give approval to move forward with her selections. I was willing to be flexible stylistically, but she never sent me ANY photos. She has not given ANY indication that she ever actually looked for leftovers to use. After several days, when I came back to review scrap moulding options in person, she said she hadn’t had time to select mouldings for me. I was surprised when she said she would give me mouldings off the wall for the same price point as scraps. I was very pleased with this prospect, so we selected mouldings off the wall.At least a week AFTER she said she would have all my items ready, and had not received any updates about their status, I sent my husband to pick everything up today, which is September 16, 2020. I was shocked when he informed me that only five of the seven small prints had been framed, and my diploma was not even in the frame! She also claimed to still be in the process of selecting a frame moulding for the church photo, which was confusing, because she and I had selected a frame moulding off the wall for this item together about two weeks prior. I felt awful risking offending her, but I was so dissatisfied with the lack of communication and timeliness at this point that I told my husband that I was ready for him to bring all of our items home, complete or not. This really upset her. She refused to let my husband pay for the five completed pieces, and said that she didn’t want our money or our business. I don’t understand why she was not able to meet the deadlines that she set. I really don’t think I should have to make four visits to pick up items, but I truly would have been much more patient if she had sent status updates at ANY point in time...
Very sweet people and great customer service. But as an artist I like to take my pieces very seriously. When I brought my framed piece home and looked at it for a second time I realized that my art piece was not handled carefully. It’s a graphite piece so you can’t touch the art work at all due to the fact it’ll leave finger prints or marks on it and therefore ruins the piece(and there were finger prints and marks all on the art piece). Also I found with closer inspection that the inside of the frame between the artwork and glass were crumbs. I was bringing in this art piece to get professionally framed for a very dear friend of mine. I’m very disappointed in the work quality, especially since the due date was pushed back at least 10 days. All in all I will be framing my artworks myself or bring them to a different frame place.
I was looking for a place that might be able to remove or restore my drawing it was a gift from my husband, he said it caught his eye, because it reminded him of us.Well ladies you know how much it meant to me with that sweet, wonderful thought attached to it, right!Unfortunately, I had to put it in storage when I moved and I later found it with this brown, ugly stain from a leak right in the wrong place and red splash stains from the boarder. I was devastated and cried, but I hopped I could find someone who could fix it. I looked on the internet and found Havens, loved the name, read the info they listed about what they do, so I listened to my inner voice and went there; as soon as I walked in I was overwhelmed with the warm atmosphere and beautiful art that covers the walls it captures you immediately. After going over the damages and ideas with Jackie Vazquez the miracle worker artist, I had the hope I was looking for.In about a week and a half I was told it was ready, when I first saw it I could hardly breathe; it was so beautiful and the boarder and frame were perfect!I lost my husband a few years ago we met when I was 16, and were together 48yrs that drawing means a lot to me and I couldnt be happier with the results, shes very gifted and I would highly recommend her lovely shop and not just repairs or framing, but also, take a look at the wonderful gallery of art by fantastic artist!
I heard about havens through my friend Pam. She was enrolled in one of his 5 week painting classes and invited me to accompany her to her last session. It was the best experience.Rob was an incredible artist and instructor. We used the palette knife to paint the girl with an umbrella. Even if you are just a beginner like me or a pro like my friend Pam, havens is the place where you want to take an art class. If you are in the market for a unique frame, that is your go to spot.
This place has best custom art in columbia SC
