Not a lot of room to let it rip. However, its a very nice ride in the trees. Decent elevation changes, nice narrow singletrack. Has some rocky sections, but nothing technical that I could find after three rides around the area.I wouldnt say I have expansive knowledge of the trails there, but what Ive seen is a little underwhelming if you like to push yourself technically.
Had a great time with my daughter. Bring water. Beautiful views. Nice people. Dog friendly.
Spacious and do not see other people very often. Come here 3-4 times a week for a relaxing time away from people.
Nice easy hiking trails.
Awesome single track trails that you can take to Monument Rock
A great set of trails. You can be away from everything, but just minutes from Monument.
Beautiful trail. Amazing views. Definitely reccomend
Gotta know where youre going, there isnt much of guidance or signs up there.
The hiking loop to Monument rock is a really nice walk for the family, easy, and there are trees for sixty percent of the walk, so it provides some shade. Monument Rock is really quite large, enough so that my 11 and 12 year olds wanted to climb it!
Had an uneasy feeling due to the history of this place, and the constant presence of three and four way crossroads was unsettling as far as my sense of direction goes, but this is a really beautiful area where the ecology of the desert and the forest meld wonderfully. I saw many twisted, double or triple evergreen trees along the trail...
Convenient access to an extensive trail system, but parking can be limited. Several other trail heads are just down the road if this one is full.
Beautiful trail. Easy hike for great reward.
This is a great hiking area. Multiple trails and almost all are relatively easy, so nice for a stroll on any occasion. Also great for mountain biking. Some areas have more shade than others, so be prepared with sunscreen. Not a lot of parking, so if planning to visit on the weekend or a busier time might need to park down the road. Good trail for bigger dogs also.
This was a quality trail for horses, bikes, and hikers. Also had a parking lot which is a bonus.
Its a well maintained trail with many different paths to take. Never gets boring and more of a nature walk versus a tough hike.
The trail is beautiful, but almost nobody has control of their dogs. This trail is a leash optional trail (which is fine by me as long as people have voice control) and most people cant recall their dogs. If I wanted to be in a dog park, I would go to the dog park.
My friends and I love biking the singletracks here!! The trails are well-maintained and fun. Skill level ranges from beginner to advanced. The trails are shared with hikers, dogs, and horses though, so you have to keep an eye out. Its usually not very crowded though, since there are so many trails to explore.
So close, dog-friendly, many trails for biking, hiking, running, & horseback riding!! Hard to get lost with Mt Herman/Mt Hean Road, & Monument Rock for landmarks! Cant beat the scenery, year-round! Well-maintained trails (thanks to Friends of Monument Preserve volunteers!!).
A beautiful view. Although, dont go alone. There are definitely predators, of course. We saw a deer carcus on the trail and didnt wait around to see what killed it.
Love it! Great little trail system that I frequently use to mountain bike
Beautiful views
Beautiful hike, very easy. Perfect for out of town guests!
One of the best trailheads in the area. hundreds of different trails to explore and most are well kept and litter is rare. Beautiful area with friendly people. Great for hikes, dogs, horse rides, and mountain bikes.
Great mountain biking.
Great hiking and mountain biking,. Trails are well maintained.
Easy walking. Great Mt Biking. Not overcrowded.
Perfect for our toddlers and 10 year old. Easy trail and beautiful surroundings and nice people.
Beautiful walk, easy trails. Lots of bikes so keep your head up.
Beautiful area to hike, lots of trails.
Always love hiking and riding my horses here
Great hikes, dog friendly
Local favorite for an easy walk, not too hilly or strenous. Beautiful in Fall when all of the scrub oak change colors. There is a small pond up by the monument rock, a fire training center and loads of mountain biking trails.
Easy to access trailhead. A decent amount of parking. Several trail options keeping traffic down for a nice quiet hike. The trails have some hills but nothing to taxing.
Crowded lot but great trail
Some restrooms at the trail head would be nice even portables would suffice. No trail maps that I saw at the main lot sign. It definitely needs to get touched up a bit, the sun fade has taken a fair amount of information away. Trails were trashed with dog bags, and other various forms of garbage. Deep ruts cut into the main trails could be touched up. Overall there is a good trail network, and with a solid map or app you can get around pretty easy.
Good views, but a lot of loose rock on steep sections of trail.
Went hiking with our group of 22 people. Nice clean trails that all lead to the Monument rock. Great area for taking puctures.
Great Trails for running or hiking!
A wonderful place. Other places I have lived have nothing like it. Dont take it for granted. Thanks.
Something for everyone. Easy wide trails, technical rocky trails. Good for a hike or to mountain bike. Or, as a gateway to go long.
Beautiful trails with easy access
One of my favorite places ever. Beautiful. Fairly easy to get around, and most of the time the people there are kind.
Wonderful trail networks for hiking and mountain biking. Remember, if you bring it in, bring it out! Leave no trace is good practice.
Nice trail that overlooks Monument but watch out for crazy people.
Great area to hike or run
Great trail for family and the kiddos
Great mountain biking, hiking in shaded wooded area.
Wonderful trailhead. Beautifully maintained and always something new.
Great local singletrack mountain biking and hiking.
They have closed Palmer lake to dogs. This is now the Crappiest Dog park in Colorado. Not for hikers, campers or sightseeing.
Many miles of intersecting trails. Very popular with mountain bikers, hikers and runners. Very scenic, youll often find photoshoots happening.
Convenient trailhead so it see s moderate usagethough once awayvfrom trailhead not as dense. Rolling terrain trails easy to folliw.
Always a lovely walk. Some icy spots which was to be expected given snow and cold weather recently
Super busy and cool places. Porta potty??
Great place! Plenty of areas for all kinds of hikes.
Great place for single track or just a light hike
Great trails, and a lot of fun photo opportunities.
A frequently used trail system with interesting features
Easy parking and access to miles of trails for horses, mountain bikes, and hiking.
We just did an orienteering course for scouts and had a blast great place for geocatching as well
Beautiful views
Nice, flowy trails. Some of the best in the area!
Great for hiking and biking. Lots of trails
Great trail system for any type of outdoor enthusiast. In particular for Mt Bikers... it offers excellent opportunities for new, intermediate and advance riders. The higher in the mountain you go on the trail selection the tougher the trail gets.Stay east of Mt Hermann road and you will have lots of flow singletrack, some roots, drops, jumps, and a few rock gardens, but nothing a new and intermediate wont fully enjoy.Cross the road and you have more options, you can test your endurance by climbing up the road and doing wild ass or Lymbaugh canyon, both meet in the end and present the same tough climb return via HZ and white ghost. There is also black pearl with some rocky climbs and also rocky descent.Popular local trail Stoopid Trail which presents with a phenomenal variety of terrain, including loose scree, hard pack, rock gardens, roots, fast straight ways, drops, switch backs, just dont let stoopid get you.Give this place a try, you wont regret it.
Frosty today and pretty.
Access to enjoyable single track at Mt. Herman.
If God made it, Im in
Great Trailhead and pulloff.
Beautiful hiking
Love paragliding here
Monument is a great town with great trails
