I just got a membership again for the first time since all the shutdown and Trisha and Becca were astonishing help. Crazy courteous and kind the entire time I was there. They were professional and respectful with everything going on and provided great conversation. A definitly calming presence while trying not to fail my routes and problems. I am ecstatic to be back at City Rock again! Best place to climb in the Springs!
Decent wall size and varying boulder difficulty make it a great way to train outside of summer season.
This place is amazing! The staff was so friendly and helpful to teach and help our kids. And it’s such a large and varied facility, with all sorts of climbing and gym options!
I absolutely love this place! Everyone here is so kind and helpful, you can tell how passionate they are about what they do. I will 100% be coming back! The people at the front desk were extremely informative and getting through the belay test was painless.During COVID, it looks like they have set up many hand washing sinks throughout the gym. I noticed the staff disinfecting everything frequently, and they have set up sections to help social distance. Honestly feel less at risk here than the grocery store. You guys rock!! Keep it up!
Great bouldering, top rope climbing and sport.climbing. Super clean and organized. It is a bit expensive for a day pass ($20) and would be great if they had a lower rate for kids ($10-15).
Love the atmosphere, absolutely no complaints. Definitely have to grab a beer at the ute after a nice climb.
Great fun for the whole family, eat and drink at the Ute & Yeti after youre done climbing!
Great atmosphere, great people! Been going here for years
Gorgeous gym with tons of options for all climbing levels, autobelays all over the place, a huge bouldering section, and a simulated cave system (cave only currently closed due to covid). Worth a return trip.
Seems like you only want a certain type of climber here at over $70 a month for membership. Plenty of gyms out there charging much less and still making money. Whats the deal?We do try to be competitive in our pricingAt over $70 for a membership its obvious that you are out of touch with the majority of climbers.
The new renovation is sick making it super fun to climb there. Pretty large walls and decent setting.
Just recently renewed my membership after moving back to the states, and I can say this is my favorite climbing gym in the world. The covid measures are comforting, the routes are always fun and challenging, and the staff are inviting and friendly.
CV 19 strictly enforced! If you go, be prepared to wear a mask at all times unless you’re climbing. Staff members walk around the facility and constantly remind customers to properly wear the mask. Not a good thing or a bad thing, just mask up from the time you enter until the time you leave.
Nice employees and great routes.
Front desk staff was incredibly rude. Treated us customers from out of town like we were entirely incompetent. They treated us like we never have been climbing before even when we asked to top rope test out. The two female front desk workers gave us dirty looks while we got out our gear, those two definitely made the experience at CityRock a negative one. The climbs are alright, they were route setting half the tall wall area, so it was crowded with individuals hogging the only available climbing areas. When I asked about a student discount, one of the women insisted they were not offering any discounts at this time. As someone who loves rock climbing, it was a waste of $20.
Cool place, awesome staff! Went here for the first time and really enjoyed it! Recently renovated and has a really cool set up. One of the better gyms for mixed ability group!
Really great climbing gym. It was very well organized and nice to visit when we were in town. The day pass was a little pricey, but they had a large bouldering area and it looked like an even larger top rope area. Its also connected to a brewery, which is incredible.
My children have been climbing here for 20 years or so. Great owners who support the community. They have quite a bit of terrain and training even a cafe! They also keep striving to improve their facility. They have come a long way since the back of an ice rink.
If you enjoy dodging flailing children while trying to actively belay your partner, then this may be the gym for you. I would not recommend lead climbing here unless you are in a lead climb designated area. It is the most chaotic gym Ive ever been in. There are wayyyyy too many auto belays, which leads to children and other less experienced climbers literally falling or swinging into you while on a separate route. I think this is because too many routes are crammed into too small a space. It also doesnt seem like swing potential was factored in at all on some routes. Then there are a TON of uneven surfaces to trip over - please mark those with yellow or neon tape. My partner tripped at least three times on uneven mat connections. The ropes also have an insane amount of stretch to them so 1. Be prepared to lose some ground on your route if you take a fall (like 5 feet of progress lost) and 2. As a belayer, it might feel more like your climber taking a lead fall than a top rope fall, so be prepared to bounce upward off the ground a bit. Overall it was just a really stressful gym experience.
Fun atmosphere. Good variety of Boulder, Top Rope, Lead and Auto Belay. Routes are set a bit soft... makes you feel good :)
Great gym - new bouldering is fun. Gym is clean, and staff is friendly.
My husband and I went on our first date here and loved it! this gym is the best in the springs and the prices arent too bad!
CityRock is awesome. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Lots of options including a weight room and yoga. Make sure to check out Ute & Yeti after you climb!
Very cool... there where different walls for different skill levels; from kids all the way to the guy I saw hanging upside down on a piece of horizontal cliff. It wasnt too expensive even with the harness rentals. The staff was helpful with any questions and we even left for lunch (the diner inside was closed) and came back no problem.
This place is a lot of fun, they have so many different rock walls, plenty to choose from regardless of skill level. Great place for the whole family.
Visited Colorado and got a pass here for a month. Well worth it! The gym can get very busy after work so be prepared to wait a little between climbs. Route setting is very creative, especially on the bouldering wall. They have top roping, lead climbing and a speed climb wall as well. Would recommend! The bar is attached and has a nice vibe.
You have to use paid street parking and the bouldering setting/area isnt my favorite. The sport setting is pretty solid. The customer service is great though - there was a misunderstanding with my billing and the manager addressed it immediately and was very polite and professional.
Really good climbing gym but stuff is always shut down for either construction or some event. make sure and check the website for any shut downs as its pretty consistent. they are the only game in town and its a really nice gym but they dont have too much motivation to cater to anyone because of the lack of competition. gym is 100 percent top notch.
Its always a great experience at city rock. Theres so much to do there. Great for a work out, taking the kids or going with a friend. I highly recommend it to everyone to at least go and try once. You wont be disappointed
Haven’t climbed in almost 10 years and took my kiddo for his first time. Great place to go for beginners and those with experience. Many routes for all skill levels. Staff was friendly and helpful. Fun kids area as well. Will definitely go back.
Exactly as advertised, I love coming here after a long workout and regretting it. Just enjoy climbing in general and this place is helping me enjoy it more.
It gets super busy so expect to wait in line. Lots of walls though. Im giving 5-stars for the chill, friendly workers that offer great customer service.
I went to city rock because a friend took me there at first you need to register and watch a security video, and after a couple months im still going idk how to explain it but climbing its really fun, city rock crew its friendly and the place its awesome for doing rope climbing or bouldering, they change courses each week so its always gonna be something new really recommend this place for anyone who wants to climb inside in Colorado Springs, not to mention all the events they have, again love this place
I go to City Rock for Yoga. Incredible teachers and a fantastic atmosphere. The staff is great and the people who go there are too.
Ive had nothing but great experiences with the staff and the facilities here! It does get pretty full sometimes but everyone is understanding and Ive never felt edged out from being able to climb.
First time here for me and my girls. Staff was very friendly and informative, even when I called ahead they took the time to explain things on the phone. Had a blast as a family and really loved watching all the experienced climbers!
Love this place. Our daughter takes rock climbing classes there and loves it. Staff is kind and helpful. Restaurant is great. We enjoy grabbing a bite while waiting for our daughter to finish class.
Awesome climbing gym for beginners to advanced climbers! Staff is friendly and helpful, climbers are very courteous. There’s currently construction going on through June but it is not at all in the way of climbers. The floor can get pretty busy on Weekend afternoons.. all other hours are great!
Went here when my other climbing gym didnt open until 11. Decided to try it and am very happy that I did. Walked in and was immediately greeted and given a tour by Victoria. All of the staff are terrific. Plenty of climbing options for all levels and they are always upgrading and updating. Fitness and yoga options and probably my favorite part... Ute & Yeti opens after I climb or train!!! Highly recommended.
I took my 3-year-old son here today to check it out. The kids area was great for him, and he had a wonderful time on the wall downstairs too. The best part was the staff though. Connor was so helpful and knew how to engage my son. We will be back! Thank you so much!
Great climbing gym in CoS. Bouldering. Top roping. Lead climbing and lots of different level routes.
Paid a lot for an annual membership. However over the last year the gym has been unexpectedly closed or hours changed... like today. No warning. And when it’s open, it’s often crowded because of endless construction. Real frustrating to show up at 9am on a rare day off with friends to a locked door or sign that says “sorry, closed till 5pm”. Yet no discount or warning at sign-up for the planned year of construction.//Thanks for the reply Heather- when we checked Google on that day, it said it was open. Later, when we checked, it said it was closed. Neither of us saw any heads-up. Were all happy to hear the upgraded yoga studio is finally open. Any chance you all will offer discounted memberships for loyal customers that dealt with a tiny/under-construction yoga room and crowded/closed climbing gym for the last 6mo?
Terrible atmosphere....... Great routes. Employees have the best job, but seem miserable! Very judgmental and sneering. No one that works there ever looks happy. The staff is rude in general to talk to as well. Especially the Asian gentleman. Route setters are fantastic however. Been a member for over a year now, but I am ready for a place that cares about its vibe to open up and make climbing fun for all, rather than acting as if it looks down on its own paying customers. Every star I gave was because of setters...... Will bail when Gripstone opens for sure...
My favorite climbing gym in the city. Good selection of sport routes, with some tall walls (40+ ft)Recently improved bouldering section.Great training area as well.
A great gym to have in the downtown area. I’m fairly new to climbing, but have really enjoyed CityRock in the couple weeks I’ve been a member. There is tons of space to climb and Its usually not too crowded. Also, having the yoga studio and weight room in house sets it apart for me.
I love CityRock! We Switched from CityROCK to Gripstone, and instantly missed it.
So much fun for kids and adults. It was easy climbing up but I was scared at the top. The worker helped me repel down. Wore the littles out they didnt want to leave they were having so much fun we had to bribe them, lol they fell asleep on the ride home. We will go back again fun to take children for playdates but so well constructed Im sure you could become proficient rock climbers in no time!
Great local climbing gym with lots to do for the whole family. These guys are always changing up their routes so you never get bored, a great gym for weight lifting and a kids area that my little ones love. Staff is super helpful and very into the sport. Doesnt hurt that the Ute and the Yeti is connected. Great menu and food with a wide selection of brews.
Amazing facility. Trish and Becca at the front counter were very helpful and friendly with getting us all set up. And Isaac is pretty cool too.
Thanks for your support of The Phoenix group! We had amazing time last night! You are helping in changing the lives of so many!
Staff here is always welcoming, friendly, and eager to help. Facility is in amazing condition with plenty of bouldering, auto-belay, and belay routes. They even have auto-belay routes specific for kids that just opened plus a separate room for kids with small bouldering routes, a ladder, and zip line.
Free trial day, Great climbing for kids, plenty of bouldering options, staff was amazing and helpful. Definitely returning!
Theres originality in the orthogonality of movement at city rock, in comparison to day-to-day life.
Big Brain Place
I honestly had the worst experience of my life at this establishment. A staff member named Ian was one of the most impolite people I have encountered while on my trip to Colorado. He was openly criticizing the other women that work there in front of customers and being extremely unprofessional.
Love this place. Great people, great atmosphere.
One of the best gyms Ive ever been to. The kids area is awesome, the slide is fun, staff are friendly, prices reasonable, lots of programs available. I think the setting has always left a little to be desired in the bouldering area (in terms of consistency and movement), but the routes are .
So in love with this place, thay have really done a lot of updating recently and its all so fun-cianal! Please please please check it out! So much fun, do Not miss
Well, it has enough walls, challenges, and ropes. But the staff is rude and abbrasive sometimes. I brought a superior from work who has climbing experience and the staff threatened to fail him on the belay test for doing a tiny joke answwring a question. Second time i brought in two friends who had previous climbing experience and gave them a refresher, at the time to test out they tried to tell me to go home and come back the next day to test AFTER I paid for a day pass. So basically if youre green to rock climbing dont go there because if you learn anything, they will tell you to go home and come back the next day. Thats basically giving them your money for the privilege of using their ropes to learn a skill you could learn at home. Personally I enjoyed Springs Climbing Center more where they are priced better and have better customer service. This place is basically a glorified climbing gym for being downtown and having high walls and a microbrewery.
This place is amazing! As a newcomer, never having been to a climbing gym before, Victoria was absolutely wonderful at explaining everything and making me feel welcome. I will definitely be returning. The effort and positivity of the staff truly makes City Rock a great experience.
City Rock is awesome! I cant wait to see what it looks like when they finish all the upgrades theyre building. The staff are all really cool too.
Great place, great route options, great staff, often way too busy.
Love the place. Such an awesome experience every time I go. The challenge walls that were up last week were a great idea. Only complaint is I wish there was a half day rate but definitely understand how hard it would be to keep track of people.
We climb here close to 5x a week. The routes are always changing, and we love the recent addition of a weight room upstairs with cardio equipment. The last couple years Ive kept a regular gym membership because I could only climb, but now I can do all of my activities at City Rock. The staff are friendly and awesome.
We have been to CityRock a couple of times and we really like it. Both times have been on a Saturday so it has crowded. I like the fact that they have different options; bouldering, auto-belaying, & belaying. The routes are well marked and for different levels. I would love to go when its not so crowded.
Yup. I like. Best climb gym.
Awesome place to do some indoor rock climbing. It is so challenging and so fun at the same time. Good levels for all ages and skill
Great community and climbing! New climbs are set several days per week, so there is always something fresh to climb.
Besides the random climbers that have memorized every book about morals and philosophy it has amazing walls, fun boulders, and top notch equipment
I just moved here and have been going for about 3 weeks now... Ive loved every moment of it. The self-belays are amazing! Do yourself a favor and check this place out.
Crazy cool. Good people. They get busy at times, but its still always worth going.
Went rock climbing and absolutely love it. I was there for about 2 hours and I wouldnt stop climbing
Large boulder space, lots of top rope and auto belay climbs. I heard it gets really crowded on weekday evenings, you have to wait in line to climb routes
Awesome and friendly staffs. Very tall wall. A lot of fun. Bouldering is good too you can ride a slide down after summit. I didnt get to do the cave but it looks awesome in the video
This place continues to only improve. Great staff. Great services. Great prices. Great equipment. Probably one of the best places to rock climb indoors.
Great place to spend a few hours. Enjoyed the climbing, but the staff was great. Very friendly!
Best indoor rock climbing spot!
Took my son to a birthday party here and it was one of the coolest experiences. Definitely will be coming back and bringing the rest of the family.
Fun fun fun!! With a twist of put-thastankonya %-)
CityRock is the best place to climb when you cant climb outdoors. The staff is friendly and helpful everytime. The routes are updated constantly and the new expansions are great. The Boulder wall is completely updated with so much more to explore. We cant wait for the construction to be over! My only request is more yoga and a better variety of classes.
