Logan Square is so lucky to have this gem. An old school theater with all the charm, the seats are very comfortable and the drinks from the bar great! The sound is pretty good, although for best viewing I do recommend sitting in the middle or the back of the auditorium as the seats towards the front do you have you look up towards the screen and that can be a bit uncomfortable after a few hours. The staff is all great and they have wonderful facilities and a great lounge area for hanging out before or afterwards, highly recommend giving this theater a visit!
This cinema house was a very good place to have fun and spend free time. The staff was very accommodating, pleasant, and professional. Also, the foods were hot, and the drinks were cold. The place was even big and comfortable to stay in a couple of hours. Overall, I love to visit here again and again.
Has a full bar and good popcorn, even with price increases it is still cheaper than larger venues. Also, something to note, multiple good bars and restaurants within a block or two. Great for date nights.
One of the best parts about living in Logan square is being in walking distance to this gem. The best staff and such an awesome theater. Its not too big or crowded and has the old theater charm.
First time there. It is a beautiful and elegant antique movie theater. Many collectible original movie posters. I was expecting poor sound quality, but I was wrong. They have a small bar. Tuesdays movie trivia night and deals here and there. My deal was any movie at any time for $5.00 + $5 refillable popcorn + $5 refillable large soda + $5 margaritas.I will go again for sure. ️
Saw the latest Bill & Ted there today. Feels great to be back. Seats in auditorium #3 are brand new and no longer squeak everytime they rock. Will be back.
Love the Logan. Ive been coming here since my teen years and still enjoying my visit here in my late fifties. Love to see movies on the big screen. Came today to the show to celebrate my birthday. Seat very comfortable. The concession stand has a great selection of snacks and for those that like to have a cocktail you can do this as well. A must come a support the iconic Logan theather.
A beautiful independent antique movie theater. You can also enjoy your films with solid drinks from their bar. Really liked this place.
Great Theatre!I came here for the Silent film festival and had never been to the Castro really before. I must say the sight of men in speedos combined with classic silent films is fantastic!
This is a great local theater that gets first run movies. They have a descent bar/lounge area and the decor is really fun. It is kind of like stepping into a photo of an old movie theater, but with modern amenities. The sound is not the greatest and the screen isnt the biggest, but these are not the reasons to go to this theater. Seats are comfortable, it isnt super crowded even on opening weekend (which is sad), and the atmosphere is great. Help keep small cinema alive!
This is the second time I have been here, and I absolutely love this place! Really unassuming theater, yet quaint, homey, and inviting. Everyone who works here is very friendly and helpful, that make you feel comfortable as soon as you walk in to the establishment. It is very reasonably priced for a theater, with comfy movie seating. The popcorn here is the pièce de résistance. They use REAL BUTTER!!! Who does that?!?! And they also have free seasonings that you can sprinkle over it!!! Highly recommended that everyone watches their movies here! I will definitely be doing so, for anything and everything that I’m able to see playing.
The Logan Theatre is a wonderful neighborhood gem - from the landmark LOGAN sign, to the nostalgic interiors. They always have a great rotation of new films, but also show some oldies for fun themed nights or release anniversaries. The Tuesday night movie trivia is a blast, and I always look forward to their Halloween costume bash each year. I love supporting this place, and its friendly staff, any chance I can.
Had a great time seeing the critically acclaimed 1917. The sound was extremely immersive and made me feel as if I was right there in the trenches of Eastern France. My wife mentions it was a bit loud but i enjoyed the volume. The popcorn was perfectly popped and buttered per my high standards. Can’t wait to come back!!
Love love love. Go in to see the art deco if nothing else. I spent all of my time in the adjoining bar playing trivia. Not for the faint of heart I only added one answer for my Way over qualified team but I remember it because of that lol Rabbit Proof Fence Ive never felt more certain and less trusted in my life.Fresh beer. Can hear over others. Various seating options. Easy to locate just near Logan Square metro. Lots of eating and shopping choices nearby.Simply Wonderful!!
Very cozy theater. While I appreciated the easy access to concessions/bar, I did not appreciate egress being blocked by a stanchion that forced you to head straight into a concession line. I wasnt bothered by that, so much as the fact that the this rendered the only accessible entrance rather inaccessible. Id rate this 5 stars if not for the ignorance of those working that night. This was my first time there so hopefully this isnt a common occurrence.
Love this place, one of my favorite places to watch movies..!!!!
Cozy, small theatre that still manages to have good movie choices. Nice employees. Reasonable prices and you can enjoy a beer during the show. Movie actually starts about 5 minutes after given start time. No need to build in an extra half hour for commercials and trailers.
Its a good price Theatre as far as tickets go, but it doesnt always have all the new releases. They typically have pretty good movies for their Late Night at the Logan. Popcorn concessions are a bit over priced because a small is SMALL, but drinks are good as a medium is like HUGE!
I just moved to Chicago, and I visited this theater for the first time tonight. I loved it! Both the ticket and concession lines moved quickly, and its a beautiful theater. Definitely coming back.
Just swell! Being in the neighborhood of some great food makes this the perfect place to head for dinner and a movie. You can even chill in the bar right inside the theater building after the flick and share thoughts.
Charming atmosphere and vintage movie selection.
Such a cool theatre. You can tell the owners love movies just as much as we do. Reasonable prices and always clean.
This theater is nice. They remodeled it recently and Im glad they did. The decor and theme of old-timey cinema is cute! The popcorn is good, the service is good. No complaints. Will definitely come here again.
A classic of Logan square. Great spot. Cheap tickets. Its been upgraded recently which makes it really nice.
Very nice local spot to watch a movie. Seats are very comfy. The unlimited popcorn is a nice benny.
Great value and comfortable seating. I love the vintage decor and neighborhood feel - they host a lot of fun events here. The staff is very friendly. The bar/lounge area is really nice too.
This is a Chicago staple. Old school theater with a bar. Privately owned. Not a megaplex of commercialism but a place with a story to tell, films to show, and a bar worth hanging around in. Really awesome place w some great staff and great ambience.
I absolutely love that I live within walking distance from The Logan. The monthly late night screening series, the weekly comedy and trivia events, the great bar staff, and the super cheap prices on tickets and concessions. I love what this theater does for the community.
Had a great time last Friday seeing my first movie at the Logan Theatre! I loved the vintage feel. I truly felt like I was stepping into the past a bit with the way things operate there as opposed to touch-screen ticketers, etc. Excited to become a frequent regular for new and old movies!
Great cinema for the price! Vintage feel but it still has quality screens and sound systems. The staff is incredibly friendly and they have good drinks as well.
The only time I ever beat the Google Bicycle Hero benchmark was late one evening in 2014 when I made it to a very late screening of Terminator 2. That involved some judicious timing and selective ignorance of red lights. I was slightly disappointed that it was digital and not film.
Only $8 to see The New Mutants, the day it came out...
Great theatre! They have a bar attached that is pretty cool too
I been going there since the 1980s and they create s different atmosphere than before and is great. Also the admittance price is awesome
My favorite theater in Chicago. Its not a megaplex, the audiences are always fun to experience a movie with, theres community events happening, theres only ads for movies playing at the theater so movies always start on time, the staff is always friendly, and its just a very comfortable environment to enjoy a movie in.
This is my go to theatre. The popcorn is always fresh. Clean affordable.
I love this place, its old school in the sense that you cant reserve your seat, but has a great bar and hang out spot and is an overall wonderful place
Throwback movie theater experience (smaller screens, no stadium seating) in a beautiful setting with a full bar and really nice staff members. Support this local independent theater! The big chains are doing fine.
Great spot with a cool vibe. I am glad they put some money into this spot. I still may. It pick it for movies that would benifit from updated sound etc.
The ambiance is cool, but the projection is subpar at best. The screen is too wide and too high. Its really hard to enjoy a movie in these conditions. I felt like I was watching a bootleg version. But the place/decoration/feel is really cool.
This is a good movie theather enjoyed the atmosphere and the people the customer service was good very good movies and prices on movies a lot of seating only bad thing is hard to find parking here
Awesome place....just rememeber the plastic for seat covers!!!
Great theater in our neighborhood. You can take your drink and watch the movie.
I used to love the run down Logan, so I was hesitant to try it out when they renovated it a few years ago. Luckily they did a great job and while it isnt as cheap as it used to be the experience is better all around. Shout-out to Ken who always remembers me and greets me warmly!
Very friendly staff, nice sized screen, and recent movies too. Their concessions still cost an arm and a leg at $13 for a large drink and a popcorn but i guess thats how they cover their operation fees? Still though not that bad. Drink is big enough to share and refillable and popcorn too. Not bad for a date night. I plan to keep an eye on their older movie showings. Ill sit here and pray to whatever malevolent god I need to if they can get The Evil Dead on their screen. Im a huge fanatic about this film and id love to see it in theater.Oh, also the building is really nice in the interior. Very vintage.
Comfortable seats, bargain prices before 4. Very nice ambiance
Comfortable seats, good popcorn, cheap tickets, and no adds! A great fixture on the Logan strip...
Tiny, no frills, and AWESOME. Love that they have a bar and they also have some awesome food options as far as movie theaters go. They only have a couple theaters so they usually don’t have a huge array of movies but when they do have something good, it’s always a great time.
Nice looking art deco design. Place was clean nice and able to show smaller produced shows. Was there for a Irish promoted show. Chairs are very good recliner type but without the foot riser. Had tap as well as wide range of mixed drinks.Typical other items seem at other theaters but done nicely.
Love this place. Old school movie theater, small screens and they have a bar on premises!!!
I would have given 5 stars but bc of the usher that works there, Im giving 3! I softly asked my husband something 2x, the yuppies in front of us went to complain, when they could have just said i was bothering them, I would have stopped (which I did anyhow), the usher ( an old man with a missing front tooth or bad gaps in his teeth) came loudly and said he will throw me out if he has to come back! WOW!!It dont stop there, we came back a week later and was pulled to the side (which is still next to everyone) and he told us he has to check our bag this time because we were drinking there last time and were drunk, so he said we had to have snuck in a bottle!! Not BEER BUT A BOTTLE!!! I was so embarrassed and just had enough and I told him off! That was my line and he crossed it!! Its a shame bc I loved that place!!
Best theater in the area serving up new and classic movies. Plus there’s a bar!
Awesome movie theater. Cheaper tickets than the chains, cool old school vibes. Bar offers good selection of beer, wine, and cocktails all reasonably priced. Would recommend.
An older styled movie theatre with a bar. So if you are 21+ you can enjoy a drink before the show or take it inside with you to the show. There is a concession as well with family friendly food and beverages. The ticket prices are reasonable. However, they do not always show the newest of movies that are fresh on the market so be sure to check the schedule to be sure what they are currently showing as well as what is coming up.
I love this place I always want to watch movies here
Cool place to catch a movie. $10/ticket got us in for a 930 showing of Joker. Cant complain about that.
Great theater for a cheaper price! They also have a bar inside. Theater is always clean. While the seats arent stadium seats like the big theaters, Ive never had trouble seeing the screen.
Love it here, the theater itself is comfy and the movies are always dope. food selection is pretty good for a movie theater, the chicken tenders are great and they do a lot of special event showings
Cheap tickets. Beautiful place and they play the lastest flicks. 10 bucks for an evening ticket vs the big brands? Cant get better.
Heres the thing, if youre going to have a rule or a policy, make sure that it works to the benefit of your customers and makes your place an overall better experience. This place was cute but if you just went to dinner and have any leftovers that youre excited about they wont let you into the theater (after youve given them money for tickets of course) OR they make you throw them in the trash. Even if youve also purchased from their concession stand. Youve managed to extract money from my wallet in all the ways youd expect and youre still causing me to waste food? I saw another couple digging their things out of the trash afterwards because the same thing happened to them, not a good look. This policy doesnt benefit your goal. Wont be coming back here.
Really, really good neighborhood Movie Place. I remember when this used to be a real dump. I saw movies there and walked out since all the damn chairs had springs poking you.The owners have done a GREAT Job of revamping the place. The movies are affordable, the concessions are priced fairly; there is even a bar to drink before and after. Most importantly the movies are curated well. You get a choice of Indie and popular stuff. they also have regular midnight showings of cult faves. There is a wonderfully retro looking lounge area for you to lounge in.What can I say. This is among my favorite places in town to watch movies. This, along with the Music Box, Landmark and the Siskel film Center are my go to places when I want to watch something. Thank you to the owners for converting a dilapidated wreck into something quite as beautiful as this.
The coziest little theater. I love this place. They have special midnight showings that are fun to catch, they host trivia, and always have the latest films. I think there are 3 to 4 theaters inside. I appreciate the bar and hot chocolate!
One of my childhood theaters that was within walking distance. Now converted with 4-screens too add more variety of movies, adult lounge with adult drinks. Seats have been changed for more comfort and reason for the 4 stars is because no parking nearby cause its located within the neighborhood. Few areas on ceiling need to be addressed as well.
I love this local theater. Not too big, no bad seats, great stylings.
Super vintage. Prices are affordable. Staff are friendly. I definitely felt like a queen with all of the fancy vintage going on. A great place to go with your friends and watch a movie. I will admit, tickets are affordable but they make up for it my their food prices. Still loved my experience!
Nice place. Beautiful theatre and exciting bar having many kinds of draft beers and mezcals.
Classic movie house feel with a super friendly staff. An excellent time!
We go to movie trivia almost every Tuesday here & it’s one of the highlights of my week (it’s fun even if you know nothing about movies, but follow their fb for hints about that weeks themes). The best deal are the little boxes of wine. They just decorated the bar for Halloween & the decorations are hella classy & thoughtful (not just bats although I love bats!) The worst thing about this place is all the plastic - they force you to get your booze in plastic if you’re going into a movie, even though other boozy cinemas in town trust you with glass. I tried to bring my own cup & the bartender refused, although I’m sure I’ll try again. New bartenders keep trying to put things in plastic even if you’re sitting at the bar. If you’re trying to avoid single use plastic, it’s enough to make someone sneak in their own liquor, like we did at the old Logan theatre. I want to support this neighborhood gem, but I’m begging them to switch to more sustainable practices around single use plastic. Also, it’s is the saltiest movie popcorn in the whole city. I expect movie popcorn to be trashy, but the amount of salt is insane.
The bar staff at Logan theater are freaking awesome. I was coming out of the Lion King completely sober when I made the decision to jaywalk. As soon as I stepped down, I stepped right into a pot hole on these fine Chicago streets. I collapsed, twisted my ankle, and blacked out. My best friend ran back into the lounge where she got napkins and a whole zip lock bag of ice. I learned 2 things: 1) the Logan staff is freaking great and 2) never jaywalk again! Thanks guys!
I used to really love this place but the new management is making it boring and sterile. I was given two free passes when I rented my new apt and after a long time I finally found a film I wanted to see there. I noticed on the free passes that it said check our website to see what screenings it can be used for . Then when I got to the theatre they told me it cant be used for any new release within the first two weeks. Really Logan theatre? Are times that tough? And to print a courtesy pass on a ticket that ended up being such a discourtesy adds insult to injury. When does a film even play for more than two weeks in this day and age?
The food was good. I was there for the trivia night on behalf of the Lupus Society of Illinois associate board. Great bonding experience.
Very, very, cool theater that shows classic films. Totally stepping back in time to the 50s
Cheep tickets if you get there early you can choose wherever you want to pick. Food and drinks are a reasonable price, also the staff are very friendly to costumers
One of my favorite theaters in existence. The cocktail menu is also out of this world good with fun movie puns for names.
Big fan of independent movie theaters. This one nails it.
Such a fun movie-going experience. Definitely a staple of the neighborhood!
Great place to get baked and watch stuff.
What isnt there to love about Logan theatre?! Its got character, its got booze they play new movies as well as old classics. Thank you for existing!
Its a nice mid-century styled movie theater with nice seats, awesome pretzels and AMAZING jalapeño salt popcorn seasoning. They even have a bar if you feel like getting sloshed.
This a really nice small theater with a great bar.
A nice local theatre - I usually come for their 11pm throwback movies.
That’s place is great and pretty cheap compared to others.
One of my favorite theaters especially for the price the only reason it gets four stars is the picture and sound quality. Amazing price and lots of smaller films and older films
Smaller than I expected, cozy environment. Could have used better surround sound..
A charming place to see films. Its very pleasant not to be bombarded with ads before a movie. If you smile and ask the bartender politely, you might find yourself with a free club soda. Tickets are also very affordable, and youre in walking distance from all of Logan Squares best restaurants. I hope the Logan never changes.
Great place to catch a movie in Logan Square! They offer a student discount which is a nice way to save a few $$s!
Please dont change a thing. This theater is beautiful. Love this place.
I love the comfortable chairs and the crowd.
Nicely revamped theater. They serve alcohol and allow you to take into the theater.
