Very easy to find. I took my daughters for a school assignment.
I really like roads and this is cool to have a historic route in my home city
Unexpected, but fun to see after a great day at The Art Institute of Chicago.
Its easy to miss. It was really interesting to go to because it was on the way and my dad talks a lot about route 66 and his times on the road. Im something I would definitely go out of my way for but if youre happening to be near the area stop by check out the sign.
Brings back memories from when I was here two years ago. Homeless man named Dave was hanging out at this street corner this visit, hes pretty cool. Bring him some painting supplies!
The end sign is better but you are a long way from that. There seem to need a lot of start signs. But any of them is still the start so some fun.
Took 2000 miles just to get to this point to start the the R66 trail. Awesome ride @
Fun pic!
It was tiring in Chicago but excited with my son-in-law Juan and granddaughters Paulina and olivia
I mean, not a lot to say about this spot. A road sign on a street corner in Chicago. Having been across and at the other end of Route 66, I guess it completes that experience, lol. Best thing is there is an abundance of other things to do in this area so get the photo-op then check out the local area. Enjoy.
I dont know if I should rate this sign. I was expecting something bigger or more catchy. It is a sign accross the street from Chicago Art Museum. If you will take the route, you can take a picture in front of it.
I love Route 66, so this sign was super cool. Its a bit stickered over, but its still iconic.
Its covered in stickers...
I walked passed this and didnt even notice it. Was pointed it out and everything. Now I look it up and see its historic. Its just a sign with stickers covering it. Dont understand the hype.
Its simple but if youre nearby, why not check it out? Especially if youve traveled along this route at some point.
I always wanted to going on this way. I did it. I recommend it.
Its nicely random to look up, way up, intending to look at the Sears Tower and accidentally notice the sign indicating to start of Route 66. Almost makes me want to go to L.A.
Cool to see, the whole of chicago is awesome.
Very cool historic landmark that is really cool to see in person, even if it is mainly just a novelty landmark.
Beautiful place to be in, even better to live in. That is if you can afford to anyway
Downtown Uptown Chicago wherever I was at it was stupid crazy busy but it was very beautiful
Nice place... You can miss it if you do not look around well.
The Federal reserve Money Museum. Interesting and interactive. Free admission with free shredded money.
Route 66 hop-on hop-off bus tours it was well worth its money
Well not too much to say. But traffic an i mean traffic just looking at the wall .carefully
Begin Sign of historical route 66. Should be a little bit bigeer and more easy to take a photo.
The starting point of the iconic Route 66.
Its a historical route that people need to learn where it started. Before the interstate came in. its in the movie CARS..
The title says it all.... the first American highway started from there. Chicago
Best sign ever... Need I say more? Seriously, why is this even here for review?
Fun place with so many restaurants and bars
Ok, why is Google asking for a review about this place? Its a sign indicating that the legendary route 66 begins/ ends here.
Be prepared to be asked for money if you are standing in this area taking pictures. (As with a lot of the more touristy areas of Chicago)
It is a historical landmark. So close to the Art Institute and all great attractions of the loop.
Lots of stickers which covers the sign, so its a little disappointing.
Get your kicks on Route 66
People always taking pics under it.... I guess lol
No roo for anymore stuckers
Its a must if you want to do the Route 66 for real and from start to finish...too bad its not as impactful as I thought.
It literally makes Chicago. No other museum or landmark beats this majestic sign. Solid 5/7
There are several signs on both sides of the street. Great place for a photo opp!
I enjoyed every bit of it.
Not big sign so go for the little hunt. But by accident i saw it. Close by millenium park
Ehhhhh....if youre from out of town, it doesnt hurt to stop and take a selfie there.
Awesome mood, and delicious food!
Its just the sign, and its very subtle about its historic significance, but its pretty cool.
Panda Express is great...
Much more than just a sign.
Michigan Ave in Chicago Ill start sign of the historical US route 66
It would be worth more stars if they would have restored it. After all they got the money to do just that. Thats the reason they had all the towns and citys and places along the way rerouted or closed off and promised compensation to all that lost money on the account of the restoration being done. But the job has not been finished and the rerouted not routed back the closed off opened. You cant get to places and well you get to point. Things and places not ware they were before land marks, town lines, county lines, state lines, country lines, tribes lands in the wrong Nation. We are native Americans we were over 500 Nations with lots of tribes in each Nation. How many Nations of people are there today? What almost happened to the Jewish people already happened here to many Nations of people. Remember the past. To NATIVE AMERICANS the Old Country IS this country..USA. And we will always protect and defend her and our children. One Nation under the same sky. Father sky, mother earth. Thank you .from KILLASAN.aka little flower.
Downtown Chicago by art Institute on Michigan Ave. Absolutely beautiful!
It would be better to remove all the stickers on the sign.
Its the beginning of the most famous road in the US, whats not to love about it? Go check it out and start walking as it ends all the way in Santa Monica, California.
A little obscure as we missed it the first day and had to go back the next day and look again. It is directly across the streat for the art museum.
A wonderful history sign.
Something thats worth seeing if youre in the area.
Anyone that is going to travel Route 66 needs to start at the begin to travel to complete trip to LA.
Nice. Not so easy ti find
It just a sign covered in stickers. Not very noticeable, but if youre looking for it, its there.
We had a great time at the Taste of Chicago!
Oh man I so want to start a trip to California from this spot. Its on the bucket list.
The famous Route 66 starts at the intersection of Michigan Avenue and Adams Street. Its just outside the Art Institute of Chicago, and easy to find at this easy to access location.
Always love going down route 66
Its just a signbut it do be a good sign tho
Cool piece of history
Totally missed the sign.
Just 3 different signs on Adams between Michigan Ave and Wabash
A bit dirty everywhere. Cool piece of history not sure anyone else car s about it though
Very cool to see the beginning of the route 66 Hwy
Not so fan, but an historic place, picture that may be you want
Brings back memories
The historic sign is the starting point for Route 66, unfortunately people do feel the need to put stickers on it.
The start of a great trip
Time of my life
