Since COVID meaning were not able to gather in large groups, we took our annual in-person Trivia event online. Players supports was amazing to work with in getting all the behind the scenes set up for this event (which was to support a non-profit and bring donors together). Dave and his team answered our many questions about tech and the agenda patiently and diligently. The night of the event we were in great hands with hosting, running zoom, and score-keeping. I got to actually enjoy the event and not work it! Highly recommend working with them for your private virtual event.
Players is AWESOME! Theyve really made my time in Chicago feel special and helped me make a group of friends quickly. I especially love their volleyball tournaments and leagues. With COVID, I havent played for a while, but theyve started offering fun virtual events like Bingo, Trivia, and other things, which is pretty cool. Im trying to get my company to book a virtual company event now!
Best tournaments and leagues in Chicago. High quality and great competition for their sports. Softball, volleyball, and kickball are some of my favorites. Have the best in mind for all of their customers. Definitely would recommend if you are new to the city, you can sign up as an individual person and they will put you on a team.
The leagues are fun and well run. All the Players beach volleyball tournaments Ive played in are on time and do a great job trying to accommodate their projected schedules despite the flooding this past year. I would recommend giving their summer Luaus a shot, not much better to do on a nice day.
Great company that has great times and great people. Dave Reid always looks out for his customers and the company hosts the best events on Chicago. Any sport you want to play they have, along with different levels that range from recreational to competitive! They have mens, womens, and coed. Great fun for everyone!!
Unorganized from the start. We had several issues with securing the field and had a few games cancelled at the last minute because of this. The ump for our games openly admitted that he was biased and would give calls to the team that he liked better. He did not know the rules and when questioned he would change his call. When we contacted Players, Scott Brost was dismissive of our concerns and tried to get us to join more leagues by offering us a coupon code (why would we want to spend more money with you?)Despite all this, my team had a ton of fun. Make no mistake, none of the fun can be attributed to Players Sports and Social but all to the tremendous people on the team.
Do not play in this league. To start they delayed the start of our kickball league 2 weeks with no explanation. The Umpires do not follow the rules written in the guidelines of the league. (Mainly player positions) for what you pay, you should at least get somebody who will ump the game. If youre looking for something a LITTLE competitive, this league is not it. If youre looking for BS anything goes Recess kickball. This still might not be for you.
I’ve been participating in Players volleyball tournaments for close to 6 years now and they never disappoint. They have so many leagues and tournament dates for multiple sports that I can’t wait for them to post dates so I can fill up my calendar!Lots of friendly and helpful staff and their events are a great setting to meet new people!
Previously just played in one of their softball leagues on Wednesday nights and I must say I had a great experience. League was organized, umpires were professional, and the staff answered all questions I needed and made team registration easy. I highly recommend their leagues!
Dont waste your money if youre looking to play in the softball league. Players sports does nothing to improve the softball fields. Instead they rely on the sun to take care it. Have been playing in this league for 7 years and all they provide is a ball, a tshirt (to promote their league) and an umpire. NO FIELD MAINTENANCE AT ALL.
As a former baseball player, I was excited to interact with Cubs fans and my Chicago friends coming in this summer to play softball. This leagues organization has been an absolute disaster, and their communication is atrocious. Scheduling errors are blamed on the participants and teams end up playing half the games they are promised. The fact I have to give this association a star as opposed to none is unsettling.
I was struggling to find one more female for a reverse coed tournament. The organization as a whole was very helpful in my search for another player, along with having clear and concise communication. Highly recommend for competitive play as well.
Played many different sports with them from soccer, dodgeball, volleyball, bowling, flag football, and some of their social events. Great opportunity to play many sports at various levels. Even got to play coed at different levels. It is a friendly group that keeps you coming back to win the elusive champion fleece or zip up.Fun community presence as you see PSG shirts or zip up across Chicago and even WI. Truly appreciate having the opportunity to play a wide range of sports and meet new people in the city with so many opportunities. Thank You!
Absolute travesty of an organization.Heres the breakdown:- Games were played on a GRASS FIELD (throw down bases)- Games were routinely scheduled at 9:55pm on a weeknight- Terrible communication between staff members, as well as to their customers. Emails go unanswered. Then you get an answer from two different people saying two different things- 160$ per person for less than 5 gamesWhat a joke.
I’ve been playing PSG volleyball tournaments (sand and indoor) for several years now! I’m always impressed with their ability to put the customer first! This association takes great care of the Volleyball community and makes everyone feel like family!
These guys run great events and leagues! They have leagues all over the city of every different level of competition. Totally recommend them!
Played in leagues and tournaments. Good fun, good price and always seems to be on time. Staff is super friendly and helpful.
Have been playing Players vball leagues/tournies for a few years. Competitive and well organized. Dave and team are also responsive and accommodating to our team needs. Thanks Dave and Players! -K
Fantastic Social Event Platform. Player Sports is great at connecting with ALL levels of players in the Chicagoland.
Great leagues, fun people, awesome experience. Recommend 10/10.
I have been participating with PLAYERS SPORTS GROUP since Ive moved back to Chicago in 2013 and have absolutely LOVED IT! They put on great tournaments and leagues in the summer and winter time in Chicago! Theres no other organization like it and those in charge are very understanding when it comes to teams, players and anything you need! I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone at ANY LEVEL of play!!
PSG has the best tournaments in the area and always fields solid competition.
Ive played in volleyball, softball, and football leagues and Ive had a great time in all of them. The refs are good, field conditions are good, teams are competitive. Ive also gone to some of the social events at the beach in the summer and played in some tournaments in the winter and theyre all a lot of fun.
LOVE playing softball with them! Ive played all over the city and they have the best umps. I also love that theres so many locations to choose from. Will be back for spring, summer, and fall next year!
I have been playing basketball through Players for several years now and I think they do a great job with their leagues. Ive played at several of their facilities, and its nice that they offer games at gyms in a variety of neighborhoods around the city, so almost anyone can find a convenient location for their team. They also offer leagues pretty much every day of the week and at different levels of competition, which provides people with more options on which league they want to join. And their website is also very easy to use and they do a good job of updating the league standings and schedule each week to reflect the latest information.
Just started a summer league. Full schedule wasnt posted when they said it would be, the person coordinating on the Thursday night lit courts is dismissive/unhelpful, they still dont have shirts for our team and we just played our 3rd game, and we were assigned a bye-week right away we didnt expect, which threw off the seasons schedule by a week. They also have games scheduled over the 4th, so know that when you are coordinating your team.On the bright side, great location to play volleyball with city views, and the other teams in the league are super nice. Gatorade people gave away lots of free stuff the first night.
Ive been participating in PSSG events for 5 years now, and wouldnt choose any other organization to play recreational sports with. They are well organized, and price their leagues and events fairly. They consistently provide an awesome atmosphere to meet new people, play your favorite sports, and have a great time. They cater to all levels of play, from some of the very highest you can find in the city to compete, to the more recreational/beginners looking to just play and enjoy the game. Their work staff are friendly and helpful, always looking to make sure everything is right for their league and events.Players Sports knows how to do sports in Chicago, and I wouldnt recommend anyone else.
Players Sports staff is great. I accidentally signed up for the wrong league and they went out of their way to accommodate us and get our team in to a sold out league 3 days before it started even though they didnt have to. Great service, great communication, good group to work with.
Had the same experience as most of the other people here. Our league we were told was on schedule to start and then delayed a week to end up being cancelled with no notice other than checking online. This is understandable as they cant control who signs up. But the support followup online through email was horrible as well waiting multiple days for a response. When we finally did get a response the staff were not friendly or helpful at all.
Volleyball tourneys are always well run, always a good time
PSSG offers great events and leagues for all levels of competition. The staff is personable and welcoming and Ive never had a bad experience with them! I LOVE playing with them and they provide GREAT service!I would NOT recommend any other organization.
Leagues are run well, we always have a blast.
Their players love leaving garbage like cheap beer cans behind in the parks where they play softball.
Scott Prost is a troll.2019 Update: how can I update this to zero stars? Players Sports does not invest more than $0.01 in the playability of their fields. The unfortunate reality that Players has a near monopoly on the Chicago-land softball market has led to their complete unwillingness to invest any time or effort into improvements. If you have the choice, go elsewhere.Update Again: appears Players Sports is now having interns (Xavier Avalos) write reviews for them to boost their review rating. Don’t let this “fake news” and the BS comment to my review fool you: these guys do not care about the customer.
Not very well organized. Put a lot of effort organizing a dodgeball team. Got an email saying the league was almost full and only had 3 team spots left but it was delayed for a week due to spring break. Then a few days before it was supposed to start it was canceled because there werent enough teams. Not very transparent obviously. Would have gone elsewhere.
TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!!The volleyball 101 class did not meet the course description. It was not for beginners or those new to the sport, or those who had never played but wanted to learn. The so called instructor told people what to do, never coached them or taught any kind of technique, and then was busy texting on his phone. He wanted to be paid for doing as little as possible. I could have gotten as much from watching You Tube videos, and practicing alone in my own gym. DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THESE classes. I am demanding a refund, as I will NOT BE GOING BACK!
100% LOVE PSSG. Great Sports Leagues, Great Events and FUN! If you are looking to play sports in Chicago or meet great people Players Sport & Social Group is #1.
Signed a team up for a Union Park Softball league. Week 1 the lighting on the fields was so bad the ump called the game right after ours. Apparently Players Sports had not coordinated with the park personnel about the lighting. We had multiple rain outs not to mention the fields were atrocious and a major safety hazard from festivals (divots, glass, etc). Safety was not an issue for these guys they kept pushing games through STARTING AT 10PM we were playing 12 inch softball while a kickball game was going on in right field. This is a disaster waiting to happen. Ive been ignored by the higher ups on field conditions and safety and have been given a big middle finger.
PSSG is the best there is in Chicago. They offer the BEST leagues in the city. I have played recreational volleyball at Windy City in Logan Square and the leagues include experienced referees who keep the game fun and safe. I am also a competitive soccer player who plays in in a league every season. PSSG offers the most competitive leagues in the city. I look forward to my games weekly because I know I am going to get a competitive game with a quality referee that will call a good game. I highly recommend you to check out PSSG if you are looking to have a great time.
PSSG has always been great for me and my friends.Every Spring and Summer, I play in the 16 SB league at Hamlin Park. Everything is always organized and run well. The umpires are well trained and the staff at PSSG is always extremely helpful.I have also played in multiple cornhole tournaments at some of PSSGs bigger events such as Big Dig and Luau. Both are always a blast! It is such a great way to meet people and get outside. They really take great care of their customers and seem to really want to make sure people are having a good time.I have no complaints at all. PSSG is wonderful and a great company to have in the city!
