A Chicago icon! I have spent the better part of my life attending concerts here, probably could have bought a house with all the money I have spent. No regrets! Live music = life. Doing all I can to support the lovely staff until we are all able to return. Missing sticky floors and sweaty nights. ️
Oh man, the memories I have in this place. I spent a lot of my (barely) legal young adult years here. Chicago classic. Great place to hear great live music.
Ive been to the Metro many times over the years. It is a great Chicago venue. It has the open floor in front of the stage if you want to mix it up, or if you are getting older like me, the option to watch from the balcony with a bar right there is a very nice touch. This place has been great for a long time and I dont see that changing.
Music and beer. What else do you need? Oh, haunted, hidden venues? Yep, this place has that too. Great sound and lights. Sight lines are a little tough during sold out shows, but hey, thats part of the game. A little tough for accessibility, otherwise, would give 5 stars.Be sure to grab a drink from G-Man before or after the show!
A classic Chicago music establishment. The place probably hasnt been updated since it opened so theres not much accessibility but it has kept much of its classic charm. Acoustics are fine and have heard several artists and have experienced no issues. While it is in Wrigleyville, it is definitely not part of Cub-dom.Much smaller than many venues including the vic and the riv. it is definitely at the top of the list of venues to see music.
Saw an awesome concert featuring vnv Nation at Metro and loved the venue. Im from Denver and appreciate the similar early century style to our Fillmore, and various historic buildings.Excellent acoustics from this small venue and intimate closeness of the entire audience. I felt like the band was as close as 25 feet away.
Great size venue. Not too big but still has a good bar, coat check, etc. They have a really friendly + efficient staff. The bar is cash only but there is an ATM next to the bar. They had fans going and kept it surprisingly cool!
Personal favorite venue for the last 36 years. My first punk rock show was here in 1984 - Dead Kennedys, AOF, End Result & Fang. Countless memorable shows followed up to present day. Played with my band several times. Overall superb and consistently an excellent intimate concert experience.
Metro is Metro. Chicago staple. Smells like old beer and cigarettes and even years after the smoking ban, the place still looks smoky. Probably cause people still attempt to light up, but thats what make it the place it is. Atmosphere is amazing, space is small, feels almost personal. My experience last week was the same as always, minus the smoking (mostly). Its worth seeing a show there no matter who you see just to say youve been and get the cliche photo of the band on stage with the ornate architecture outlining it, as shown.Go. Its worth it.
I mean, its Metro. One of the best places to see rock music in the whole city, maybe the entire United States. Good, intimate vibe. Plenty of room to rock out if youre so inclined. Barstaff is great. Cash only. Drinks a reasonably priced for a venue. Love Cabaret Metro.
One of my favorite live music venues in the Nation. I will say that I always feel cramped, even when there is not a huge crowd. Still, a great place to see a band! And yes they do have a $4 coat check.
I had a great time hearing and dancing to some great House music! Hadnt been in years but reminded me of great memories of the past. This party was in honor of the great DJ Frankie Knuckles. ️
The venue is nice and cozy. Not too big. But the sounds system could be better. If you like the neighborhood bar feel while seeing your favorite artist then this is a decent place. I have been here before and I would go back again
Wonderfully intimate space, coming from a different state to see shows at this venue never feels like a burden. Anywhere you stand is close to the stage, balcony as well. Not the first time here, and definitely wont be the last!
Such a great venue! The sound was awesome and definitely not what was expected. If you’re coming to a show here, get here early to get you a spot inside.
The metro is one of my favorite places in the world to see a concert.Venue isnt that big and honestly the sound isnt the best but theres just something about it. Theyre booking agent is what sets this place apart. they always book quality talent in the prices are always reasonable.I saw the band toe here with a couple of friends and it was one of the best shows Ive ever seen!
Missing the Metro! Most iconic venue in Chicago!
Classic venue, great sound and atmosphere...
Every single staff member in this place went above and beyond to help me and my girlfriend (who was on crutches). There wasnt a single unkind person working there. The place was also clean, looked great and seemed to have a lot of character. Overall, one of the best concert experiences of my life, thanks to Metro and their staff.
This place is super cool I went here for a old school rap concert. The place was packed and everyone was super cool. The bartenders did a great job of whipping out drinks and the bouncers kept everyone happy. Drinks are not super expensive.
Such an awesome place to see a show. When you go there it feels like you are stepping back in time. Management clearly has a lot of experience bc there was a perfect amount of people and the temperature was not out of control.Bar is cash only which was a bummer but I respect the move.
One of the best smaller venues in Chicago! The sound has always been good, staff is friendly, and the crowds are awesome. Drinks are a little pricey, but nothing out of the ordinary for Chicago venue booze.
Great spot to catch a show! Remember that the bar is cash only, but theres an ATM in the building.
Went to see AURORA and the show was amazing. But since this a review of Metro, I have to mention that the staff were just awesome. They guided 1000+ people from the venue to outside without any problem. They also have a coat check in and a merch store.
Last night was my first experience at Metro! Emo night Brooklyn was a great time. Definitely took me back to highschool days. Everyone was dancing and singing their hearts out. Its amazing how much music truly brings people together. Will definitely be back for more shows!
Like any of your typical larger venues, they charge for water which is an immediate loss of a star from me. They also dont allow re-entry between sets so be prepared for that.Bring earplugs here. The volume is much higher than necessary, and this is coming from someone who goes to a show at least once a week. Sound quality was decent, and I could usually hear everything I was supposed to from the bands.
I love going to concerts here. There a lot of great vantage points to see the bands from. However, I do not like paying $3 for water.
Awesome experience. Stage hands were quick. Security was great. Sound was amazing.
The set of groups that play here is amazing. Lovely stage, you can easily see and hear. It is cash only bar, but there are atms. The security guys are rude when the ask you to leave, literally, the next minute after the concert ends.
Great drinks, great atmosphere and the music was awesome. The DJ was on top of things. The Nocturna event that I went to was amazing and well worth going to. I would definitely go to this club again.
Nice venue. Lots of womens stalls in the restroom which help reduce time spent in line. Great sound quality and everyone from the security guard to the coat check was friendly.
The metro is hands down the best live music venue in the city. It is intimate without sacrificing on sound and experience. Been going to the metro for 20 years now!
Simply put, this place is one of the best of the few major remaining independent venues. Sometimes I see artists that I enjoy less than others playing the same night at a Live or Nation or Ticketmaster venue just because the experience is better, the security is better, the sound and views are great, and bigotry is not tolerated.
Metro was beautiful and super easy to navigate. Small venue with simple merch set up on the way in; they had rooms inside and used these for merch, made it all really easy.Bar was easy to access and well staffed. Drinks were reasonable and easy to scoop up mid show as needed. We would definitely come back.
Absolutely love this place for live music. The staff are always cool, and I love how it feels antiquated despite hosting a lot of punk rock shows. Always 5 stars for hosting Alkaline Trio!
Came here to see missio. cash bar only- but there is an ATM. The staff is really nice. The bar actually had a lot of options too!
Visited the Raw Artist show. It was a good time and a slick venue. The down side: there was an overabundance of vulgar feminist and leftist “art” and zero artists selling anything opposite of these, uh, perspectives. Since I know there are conservative artists in the city, I suspect they were prevented from participating. I may be wrong, but just in case, I refrained from buying art for fear of supporting such bias.
Good small venue for shows. Everywhere is a good spot for viewing. Need more womens restrooms. Cash only bar
Right corner by bar put you in a good spot to see the show and 1 foot above everyone else on the ground floor. Plus you get to watch everyone fall on the step
Awesome club as always! Metro is always a great show
Loved the Metro!! Awesome Concert venue! Make sure to arrange for parking ahead of time, maybe park whiz or something similar would be helpful. Friendly staff, awesome layout. Love the old theater vibe.
Was just there to see Empire of the Sun. The show was AMAZING and it was a great venue space! My issue was with the bartenders who wouldnt give me a cup of water...I dont see what the issue is with giving a guest a cup of tap water. Overall it is a great venue space, but make sure to bring cash with you!
Really unique concert venue, always a plus if a show is happening here!
Nice place to check out bands. Friendly staff.
Saw Xavier Rudd here. Want sure about the venue at first, but really liked how intimate it was. This photo was from back of main floor, no zoom, had a great proximity feel from nearly all over the first floor. Bars were smartly put I to the corners downstairs and center upstairs for access. Would come here again for sure.
Metro used to be my favorite venue but after last night, they’ve lost a loyal customer. At the White Denim show, security guards mixed up my girlfriend (22) with my underage friend (18) and accused me of “passing drinks to a minor” even though I did no such thing and was escorted out without being told what I did. Spoke to the manager who was nice but not very helpful and refused us reentry or a refund. We offered to call the cops to breathalyze my underage friend but the manager told us that the cops were “ruthless” and we “didn’t want to involve them”. When asked to identify who I “passed the drink to”, the security guard hesitated before incorrectly identifying my underage friend. This is an absolute disappointment to me as I was excited to see one of my favorite bands perform live. Metro, please train your security guards better so other people don’t have to miss out on one of their favorite bands like I did.
Good venue for medium sized bands. It is tough to see the band from the back, definitely dont be late. There is an upstairs which overlooks the stage and has a bar.
Fantastic venue to see a show if youre like me and prefer a more intimate setting. Standing room only, except for a few booths tucked in the back of the balcony. General admission means you can get right up next to the stage and the performers.
1983 Metallica :) Front row
I visited metro for the red bull music festival. The music and atmosphere was great. Drinks were good.
I really like this venue. Not too big, allowing for everyone to get a good view, and not too small allowing a lot of sound to be made.
Hands down the best venue in the city! You walk in and immediately feel immersed in the history of this venue. So many iconic artists have graced the stage here. Every music fan should experience a concert at Metro.
Intimate long time venue in Wrigleyville featuring big name artists and fab up and comers. Awesome place to see a show. Friendly bartenders and security staff.
Favorite music venue in the city. Acoustics are excellent and they always get some of the best acts.
Saw the regrettes here and had a great time. Good venue with fun experience
Awesome venue great location always good bands Alkaline Trio put on a good show that night
Its a dive-y concert venue. Good venue for smaller shows. Bathrooms are Tiny! Cash only, but theres an ATM. Drinks are nothing special
One of my favorite venues to go see my harder Rock. Deep in heart of City so after done so much to do around this venue!
The sight lines are good, the accoustics are great. One of the original alternative live venues left in the U.S. Definitely catch a show here while in Chicago.
Wonderful, fairly intimate venue with full bar. Django Django played a great show, made even better by the intimate setting. Highly recommend seeing any artists you like that come through.
Great venue! One of my favorites in the city for a smaller concert.
Awesome venue! Ive never had a bad experience here in the 10+ times Ive seen a show at the Metro. Plus its in the heart of Wrigleyville so if you want to go out after you have a ton of choices. Just make sure to bring cash with you because the bars in the venue are both cash only. Theres an ATM there but trust me, just bring cash with you.
Great place to catch a show!
My brother recommended this place. I loved it! There is a cover, but they did have some great drinks, so I was happy! They played a lot of fun music and definitely got the entire place involved. We had a blast!
Love the fact that the metro is always open to all sorts of things. I just saw part of the high school poetry competition called louder than a bomb. It was amazing. There are still a few more days left to this. If you can find a way to go and you love poetry it is really a fabulous event.
Best venue to see a band of any kind. Great sound, perfect size, great acts always.
Great venue. Awesome variety of performers, musicians, DJs etc. Cash Only bar, plenty of ATMs.
Fantastic little venue. Would be happy to go back again. blink-182, please?
Loved this venue. It’s small so get there early if you want to see your band! My sisters and I went upstairs and loved the vibe.
Really fun place to go see up and coming artist. Had amazing time. Not to big of a place.
I had a great time seeing some awesome bands play. I just had to find parking but other than that it was all right.
Great venue for live music.
Incredible concert venue and event space with the best staff and stage techs.
Metro is hands down one of the best smaller music venues in Chicago!
Good venue 2 see concerts sound quality is good, staff is polite. No real bad spot 2 see performers on stage, good drink specials. Gr8 atmosphere
Good room, high stage so everyone can see performers
The venue was nice. Acoustics are great. Good vibe all around.
Really nice venue. Very clean
Great place for a show. Exactly the way youd expect... awful bathrooms, strange people, unique and incredible atmosphere and legendary staff. Cash only with an ATM on premises ($2.75 fee).
Saw Cold Waves VIII there. Absolutely amazing! The sound. .. the lighting... the best!
This place has many good memories for me. Sound is terrific, atmosphere is great and staff are on point always.
Nice venue. Safe. Easy to access. They had a mom bar. :)
I always love seeing bands in this particular venue So Many Great Bands From Metal Church to Incubus, Lizzy Borden to Rights of the Accused, Metallica to the Glorious Sons...Soil to Paul DiAnno...Man Ive Seen some Great Shows Here Great Sound Great Views and Most Guys U can talk to after the gigs in the Loading Area
Great venue! Saw Elohim and Blink for the Lolla after show and the staff were quick with entry and the space was cool
Such a sad evening! All the sudden some woman came up to us and said we had to go. No reason why! Shame on Metro & shame on Metro employees! Don’t go to Metro!!! . Stay home and avoid their negative / bitter energy!!!!
Intimate music venue with good sound, great staging and full bar. Waitress circulates through the crowd so you dont lose your place. On the negative, no seating, all tickets are General Admission. The tallest guy in the city had to come stand right in front of me!
Get there early, but if you do you are in store for an intimate concert experience. Saw my first concert here (Millencolin) and it looked and sounded exactly the same when I saw Sufjan 11 years later.
The venue itself is right up my alley, meaning it is grungy and has history. However, the sound quality was awful... speakers sounded blown as if they were trying to make it a club. I am a huge concert go-er and it makes me sad to even write a negative review but man oh man it was not a good experience.I saw the Bahamas here and I hope they choose a better venue next time.
Its a great venue for concerts! It does feel a little small, however. I enjoy the size and atmosphere of The Rave in MKE much better.
Love it. So many great show there! Staff is very professional aswell.
Beautiful historic venue. Great sound. Excellent staff.
Constant talking from the crowd makes it impossible to hear the band well, and even if they werent talking the sound quality was mediocre. Drinks at the bar are expensive and take cash only. Im not sure why Ive heard of this venue before, but it is too big to let you see bands well, but too small for the poor sound quality to be acceptable.
Awesome place to see a show. Good sound, lots of bars and plenty of space to make bad decisions on the dance floor.
Everything about the Metro is awesome!Even he door guys are nice...rare find.Be sure to check out SmartBar down in he basement. I also heard this place is haunted.
What a wonderful small club experience. Staff is friendly but the bathrooms are weird. Men on first, ladies on third. Bartenders are cheerfully and the balcony is nice. Just wish I knew how to get in the reserved spaces.
An awesome place for a live show. The staff was awesome as well.
