Awesome aquarium! Two buildings. We enjoyed them both but River Journey was very impressive. It says 2 hours on the website, but we could have easily spent all day there. We did the VR experience and watched the Great Barrier Reef in the IMAX. (Combo tickets for the aquarium and IMAX saved a little online.)The movie was good, but I was a little disappointed in the effects. Overall, a great day!

What can I say about the Aquarium! Take your kids load them up have a family day. Take the short drive to Chattanooga and enjoy the local scene and take a long tour of the fresh water and the salt water aquariums respectively. My daughters love going here its a great way to spend a day whether alone or with the kids. Just go and make a day of it and see what else Chattanooga has to offee.

Saw the Volcano movie. Really enjoyed it. I wish the seats reclined to make the experience a little better. Ticket prices werent too bad, about $25 for 2 adults. They have a small concession stand with popcorn and drinks that are a little pricey but thats the same for concession stands everywhere. Although Im not sure its worth buying concessions since the movies are only about 45 min long. Overall good place.

Went to see the Oceans 3D show. The show itself was spectacular. Great for children and adults. The theater facility is state-of-the-art. Very clean. The show was well worth the price of admission. Sound system is excellent, as is the clarity of projection. The concessions, like any theater, are very costly. I flirted with giving a 4-star rating because of the costly concessions, but I dont think its fair to penalize a theater for something that has been an issue at almost all theaters for as long as I can remember.

A fun day for our family! First, we enjoyed having lunch outdoors at the waterfront park near the aquarium as they were hosting a food truck and bluegrass music festival. After having a wonderful lunch, we enjoyed all 3 options at the aquarium...the freshwater exhibit, the saltwater exhibit, and the IMAX theater. The butterfly garden was really cool too. The setup and quality of the aquarium is awesome! A very nice and fun place, we look forward to going back soon!

Beautiful facility and it’s laid out so you don’t double back on what you’ve already seen. Loved the exhibits, habitats & variety of wildlife. There is also a lot to learn throughout the facility and educational activities as well. DEFINITELY recommend to anyone in the area! The IMAX theater was also a great deal and the movies “Oceans” and “Pandas” were fabulous and we learned a lot.

Great 3D EntertainmentCame in for their 6 oclock showing on a weekday night.Hurricane 3DThe film was really well made. The whole time I was watching I kept asking myself how they were able to capture some of the shots they did.I mean they were able to capture the impact of a hurricane from the perspective of a stick insect. Talk about a micro - viewpointThe IMAX screen and surround sound made for a badass experience. It was only $8 extra with the purchase of an Aquarium of Tennessee ticket.Normally I get motion sickness from 3D films, so I was hesitant to go. But Im so glad I did.Food - Disgusting story alert.I considered ordering popcorn but when I saw what I saw... I just couldntThe concessions attendant put BACK a bag of popcorn that had been physically touched by the customer ahead of me to check for temperature difference between the two popcorn bags he was about to buy.Gross!Overall RecommendationSkip the popcorn, catch a film, and youll have a great time.

Cool, but its ridiculous they make you pay the same price regardless of where you sit. I didnt realize so many people were going to watch the same show with me and apparently I was one of the last ones in which meant I had to fit on the very first row which made me crane my neck almost the whole time in or she see it. Plus you have that handlebar in your view.

We sat on the back row and someone that kept pacing back and forth behind us. He was talking through an ear piece but didnt have on any ID. I went out to sneak to the person who was at the entrance and she was gone. My hubby is a veteran (ptsd) and has real issues with this type of behavior. At one point he stood up against the back wall. APOLLO 11 was good. Even on the way out there was no one to speak to about this. Very annoying suspicious behavior!

Nice place a little pricey. No Cafes or restaurants so be prepared to eat before or after your visit. In my honest opinion exhibits are not well presented and nothing really grabbed my attention. Its the type of place that is worth taking the kids too but if you are an adult who has been to an aquarium you will be unimpressed.

Nice, clean theater and staff are very friendly. Movies are normally 30 minute nature /space documentaries which can usually be found on YouTube. During the times I have visited it was packed with inconsiderate /rude adults playing on their cell phones while their small children watch the movie. Must have purchased the aquarium /theater combo.... Would like to see a better variety of movies / programs offered and stern warning given to guests about having their cell phones out making noises & lighting up the theater, or maybe the theater can request cell phone users sit at the rear of the theater so those of us actually there to watch the program can enjoy it without distractions.

The IMax building was nice and the employees were friendly. The movie Oceans 3-D was an abissmal fail! In reality it was more like an hour-long save the oceans speach, or better yet an ASPCA TV ad. Nothing like the great IMax movies of the past. My advice is to skip the movie, pay the $9 to watch the 5-min virtual reality flick available in the foyer, and then head out the door and over to anywhere else in Chattanooga!

IMAX 3D makes any movie experience better, but every movie that I have watched there, and I have seen 3, would be interesting even if it was 2D. Pros: Provides, the highest quality image you can see in theaters.Cons: Long ticket line, long concession line, long wait times, cramped seating.Chattanooga is one of a handful of theaters in the world that have the new dual laser 4k projectors. Combining that with the huge screen and state of the art sound system, you theoretically should have the one of the best movie experiences to be had anywhere in the country. Yes the image is breathtaking and the sound incredible but the overall venue is lacking. First off, buy your tickets online to avoid buying tickets there. Usually they only have one person at the ticket window and the wait can be long because people have questions about annual passes, combo tickets for the nearby aquarium, expired passes, etc. Next, their concessions service is in huge need of improvement. Every time Ive been here, regardless of the size of the crowd, there is only one person serving popcorn, candy, and refreshments. The line can get extremely long! Unlike other theaters today, there is no self serve drink stations so the single employee is not only pouring your drinks, he/she has to keep up with popping popcorn in a relatively small area, dont be surprised if he/she has to run a fresh batch because they ran out. Plus, one of my guilty pleasures when going to the movies is the butter flavoring to pour on top, but they dont have any type of butter flavoring other than when they popped it. What is confusing is that there are several employees that help with seating during and after the movie, but they are no where to be seen before the movie when the concession line is 40 people long. In my experience dont worry too much about being late or missing the beginning of the movie if you have to wait for refreshments. The start time of the full length movies, is very delayed. Most recently ours was scheduled for 7 but didnt start until about 7:20. Plus they start pre-seating just prior to the scheduled start time, but you basically are stuck standing in a line for 10 minutes or longer before they actually open the doors to the theater. Lastly, the seating needs improvement. The seats themselves are moderately comfortable but very cramped. Good news is youll easily be able to see over a tall person, but leg space is limited. Dont be surprised if the person behind you kicks your chair throughout the movie, it probably cant be helped. Also if you expect a need to leave the theater during the movie, best to sit closer to the end of the aisle. It is embarrassingly difficult to walk around the the other moviegoers because they have nowhere to move their legs. With so much competition from the traditional theaters offering recliner chairs with plenty of legroom, self serve drinks, popcorn stations, and mega screens that compete with iMax screen size, we now only go to the iMax if it is a movie that we truly want to see the very best image and sound quality.

Saw Star Wars: The Last Jedi on their real IMAX screen last night (3/18/18) and it was fantastic. Truly the only way to appreciate these epic films with great 3D effects and awesome sound system. They have been playing the newest Star Wars film every night for the last couple months which I think is the best idea EVER.The IMAX theatre has done other limited release showings of major motion pictures, and they should host other films on a nightly basis throughout the year for a month at a time. There are so many movies from the past that would WONDERFUL to watch on an IMAX screen that would draw families and kids in to see classic movies in a whole new way.Days of Thunder, Jurassic Park, Top Gun, all the other Star Wars movies (especially originals!), Aliens, Terminator... to name a few! I would buy a year-long movie pass if that sort of program were offered regularly!
