Our family absolutely loves this library. There is something for kids of all ages, birth to 17. They have a variety of programs, story time, book clubs, etc. The architecture is inviting and beautiful. Almost everything is interactive and educational. Its also an excellent location in the heart of uptown with ample green space, restaurants, museums, and train stop nearby.
Its great place with so much to do! My 2year old loves coming here! Staff is so friendly. They have play area for the kids and there is days where they read to the kids. We are here once a week. They have a mr potatoe head area and its just so much fun for the kids. Over all its great place for all ages.
ImaginOn is a true unique experience. Been coming here since they opened when my now 17 year old was a tot. Both of my kids have had wonderful experiences here, so much more than a library. Kudos Charlotte, for having such a fantastic free experience in the Queen City.
ImaginOn Library is very huge and definitely an eyeful as soon as you walk in your attention turns to the top stairway it is well lit and just amazing to the unknown there is something adventurous for the entire family from the music and green room to the storytelling for the little ones and then a playroom for the kids to be creative they have lots of fun staff and entertainment like Poetry Month and sometimes even light refreshments like Popcorn, Water, etc Everyone should experience this place its totally different from any other regular Library you have visited I had the pleasure of Interviewing the workers and they were really kind and gave me a marvelous tour I was truly impressed and you will be to so enjoy.
We went there with our children and it was amazing. Our both kids loved this place, a lot of things to do there. The place is very interesting, colorful, full with cool books and of course the interactive games tablets makes everything perfect. Plus they are free and youll get parking for 1.5 hours too. I definitely RECOMMEND this place.
This place is awesome for toddlers and kids! It’s All Free! Even the parking, just take your ticket in to be validated. They do fun story times and music classes too! Highly recommend.
We came here with our 2 year old while visiting Charlotte. We joined in on their story time for smaller babies as well as on their story time for 3 year olds and up. And our child LOVED it.This library has toys, activities, puzzles, legos, little play areas and of course a ton of books. We highly recommend this library to anyone with children and would always come back here.
Apparently there is now a problem with parking in the 7th street next to.ImaginOn. There is no sign on the desk where the ticket validator sits. We had to pay full price last night after visiting Santas Bag.
This is a beautiful library. But it is so much more than that. They have theaters for childrens plays both large and small. They have puppet shows, they have beautiful walk through displays throughout the year, they have large theaters for more professional plays and they have quiet areas to read, to access the internet, to play educational games. They have a little snack area with machines for food and drink and books they are selling at low prices but are still in good shape. Right near 5th street market which is great for food and right near the new rail. Beautiful park across the street.
Wow. How beautiful and interactive. Smiling people everywhere. I wish more people used the teen loft.
Most cities have libraries with small sections for children. This is an an entire 3 story library devoted just to kids! Tons to do! And the local Children’s Theater runs out of it as well.
I would normally rate ImaginOn five stars, but my experience there today was terrible. A young lady by the name of Natasha was very rude the the boys that I was with. She then was very rude to the boys aunt who was also with us. I asked to speak with her manager because when I tried to talk to her she was still very rude. Her manager came and spoke with me and pretty much brushed it off. Her manager then went and was talking and laughing with her. This is a place for kids and Natasha was very rude and on her phone the whole time we were there.
Wonderful- Must visit! Also cheap way to park ;)
To whom it may concern,I have been attending the SOTT classes at Imaginon for the past year. My older sister has spent her summer working at the internship program. She has done nothing short of a great job. She was just trying to finish up her last week, and was helping set up for a production. She had nothing to do at the moment because someone had failed to give her any direction, so of course she sat on the stairs waiting for something to do. A counselor LIED on my sister to the play director saying that my sister was asleep on the stairs when she was only sitting down because she had no directions and didnt know what to do, therefore she thought she was done. The director talked to her and so very rudely told her to call our parents and leave, all for sitting down. According to my sister, the other two interns were ALSO sitting down, doing nothing. I think it is unfair and discriminatory that my sister was asked to leave while the other interns got to stay for doing the same thing. I thought very highly of imaginon until now, and i am very disappointed.
My toddler and I spent a few hours exploring all the different floors. It’s a must if you’re headed downtown with kids!
Its one of my childs favorite places. In addition to the wide variety of books available, there is something new and fun to discover around every corner. I recommend a visit to anyone with children in their life!
Great for little ones and teens. There is not a lot for elementary-aged kids to do, though there are a lot of books that will keep them happy. Ive heard they have homeschool programs - will update my review after participating.
Located close to mass transportation station and it resides in a clean and well designed facility. there are a good number of program(blocks for little kids) in addition to large collection of books.
An amazing place for children of all ages. My toddler loves this place. Parking being validated is also a plus.
It’s very cool and me and my class went there
This is definitely a cool place to take the kiddos, and the layout is awesome. Loved taking my toddler there for story time.
Very nice people. However I was charged for parking even though I was there for less than 90 minutes. I will not be parking there anymore. I’d rather spend my money at the market.
Huge Library. Very large reading selection for children. Large DVD and CD selection for children. Fun toddler area downstairs with wooden PlayStation, block area and 4 small kid computers. Preteen section has bean bags Lego station really cool computers and fun games for bigger kids. Upstairs is an area for teens.
As someone who used to come here almost on a weekly basis, I believe that ImaginOn is a nice area to visit once or twice. It has many great activities and spaces for kids, including magazines, teen areas, meeting/creative rooms, a theater area, and computers. This facility was immensely helpful in providing space and meeting areas, and is very accommodating. Overall, it is a nice, peaceful, whimsical childrens library with beautiful outside architecture as well as sculptures. I like this place and, if you are looking for a Charlotte area childrens library, this should be a consideration on your list.
We were stopping by at Charlotte and found this One of a kind find place. Highly recommended for families with kids.
Where else can you find this much enjoyment FOR FREE????? We spent a half-day here immersed in a dozen or more activities including Paws For Readers in which therapy dogs sit with young readers while they read a book.....the dogs actually seem to enjoy having little ones read to them. The layout, the organization, the staff are ALL top-notch.
Excellent place to borrow books. Tons of fun activities for kids from both through teens! We make sure to visit at least once a month and never have a dull moment.
I love this place and my kids love. And the greatest thing is that it is so close to the railway, so we love to take a weekend trip to this center by train. Also, I love that they have great story times and so much space inside with the play zones
Beautiful place beautiful everything its
This place is amazing! First time being here. The best part is its part of the char-meck library system!
My daughter loves this place. We go there even when there are no special programs. Sometimes I forget its a library!
Always a great place to take your children
Very nice location in downtown. My son had a blast using the computer and coloring with the other children there. Great for children
A great stop for families with mostly free activities. They win awards for being a #1 place for families. Also is home to Childrens Theater of Charlotte so families can also catch a professional show while there.
Wow this place is great! Perfect for kids of all ages, so much to see and do and they have some lovely programs for the children to participate in.
One of the best places to take young kids. Plays, spaces to frolic and a huge amount of books (the teen section was a little disappointing) make this a great stop for anyone from the area!
This is just duplicate to the new marker displaying but this library is great.
Doesnt feel like your standard Library. Kids get a hands on exploration experience and theres even a place the very little ones can stay occupied while parents watch from comfortable seating
I love the concept of this library. It looks and is kid-friendly. I expect more technology from it though. Smaller cities have ways to check out books by just putting the stack on a sensor.
Excellent selection of books for kids.
Coolest library weve ever been to! There is an area for everyone including a tech center for teens where my son made a mini movie. Def. worth visiting.
Enjoy visiting this library often. Storytime is great for littles. Also, visited Santas Bag this year and it was great. My toddler enjoyed picking out gifts for the people on her list.
Im a nanny for a baby whos a little older than a year, this place is fantastic for children of pretty much any age. There is plays, workshops, library, storyline, events, crafts, play areas and multiple floors. This place is seriously amazing and educational for children from babies to pre-teen/teens.
So much to do, so much fun! The Legos were great
I love it here. My kids love it here. Just a great place to go
My kids love coming here. We read books, play with Legos, play on their model wooden truck on floor 2, and other toys they have laying about.
A great place for kids yo be inspired and learn
