The Mint Museum is an incredible spot to visit and one of the most well-known art institutions in Charlotte. The museum offers two locations – uptown and downtown. Mint Museum Uptown highlights the American Art collection including the famous American impressionists, the craft and design collection, and the Modern and Contemporary Art.

Went here with my wife a while ago. We loved it. One of the coolest places weve been to in Charlotte. We loved seeing the 10 ft tall paintings of king George and queen Charlotte. and all the different pieces of history they have to offer.

Spectacular - much larger than I expected. Art history of the world; many genres highlighted. If you enjoy reading display notations, plan on a full day (but no cafe etc. inside).

Much larger than I imaged! Cleanly laid out and a magnificent grounds to explore. Remember that a ticket is good for two days at both this location and Uptown. Free shuttle between the two I hear!

Nice museum away from the city center, it is associated with The Mint Museum Uptown. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit a couple years ago. Just havent had the opportunity to return. I forgot now but its either Tuesday or Wednesday evening offer FREE admission after 5 PM. Great place to visit and check out exhibits.

Im so glad I went to the museum on the suggestion of a friend. Outside of the unique art collection, the building and the art museum grounds are lovely. The staff, two ladies, were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. They really went out of their way to be kind. I was honestly having a down day and going here really made my day and cheered me up. I love how all the art work is sectioned off in different rooms. The experience is like journey. Probably one of my favorite art museums now.

Has a lot of green space out front that would be great to walk your dog. This Mint has a lot of artifacts and is very history based.

Kids had a great time at this small but fun museum. Best part is learning about old ceramics like an 1810 lighter!

Great museum with lots of beautiful art. They currently (August 2019) have an exhibit on work by Tony DiTerlizzi which we spent a full hour in. I loved seeing the art from the Spiderwick Chronicles up close!

The collection is nice - better than most of the other Charlotte museums. But I would not recommend making a special trip for the Mint. I would recommend going to The Triangle and exploring art there (for NC art). The facility itself is amazing: large, the art is displayed wonderfully, and well staffed. And, there seems to be a good amount of events for the public.

Well kept building which is history itself. The museum collection is excellent for such a small place and has artifacts that are locally relevant too. The history of the mint itself is informative but could use updating. The grounds are beautiful. The museum is a bit out of the way and not a place you will come to by chance.

My experience was horrible. For some reason me and my sister were followed around by security gaurds the whole time like we were going to steal a painting or something. It was extremely insulting. I will never ever go back to this horrible place again and I suggest no one does unless you like being stalked by gaurds that have nothing better to do than judge you.

Outdoors is where its at-- unfortunately the inside exhibits lack garnering much attention. Lots of outdoor room to run dogs, a park like setting, blown glass in the planters, a large circular driveway with a beautiful fountain. The lobby is classy and can be rented for events like wedding receptions.

This museum is MASSIVE and you get to see lots of kinda of art from all over the world. What makes it better is that they have a shuttle going to the uptown mint museum for FREE! I highly recommend it.

The collection of South American art was awesome. They had this freaky burial urn used during rituals and this sculpture of a shaman wearing the flayed skin of a woman (so Ed Gein). I love this place.
