Hello I’m in the fourth grade and last time I went here there was a simulator and it tought me how to fly a plane and it was super cool to see what all the planes look like
Very Cool! Planes that range from the first flights at Kitty Hawk to the US Airways Flight 1549 that landed on the Hudson in 2009. There are hands on exhibits, like sitting in a Cessna, sitting in a jet cockpit, in a commercial plane cockpit, and even a flight simulation. Definitely worth multiple visits.
Museum has moved. Not sure where it moved to, but was told they are still rebuilding it and it is not yet open. Went here a couple years ago and was great experience.
It’s a decent place to visit, needs more attractions though. I am aware it may be difficult to do so but will make this place even better. It is cool that there is US Airways flight 1549 on display. I recommend visiting just make sure you wear clothes that fit the temperature as there is no air conditioner in the hangar.
Had an opportunity to bring our family here during a family trip. The staff was super pleasant, and were almost as thrilled about aircraft as our excited 2 year old. Along with that, they are knowledgeable about the various aircraft in their care. There is more than one aircraft there that the staff can happily share details regarding its background
The place is small, but every single airplane inside of it has a story that makes it all worth it. You can get up close to airplanes that have a amazing stories. The staff is espectacular. Even though the museum is self-guided, there are personnel all over that can help you and explain to you facts. Everything is labeled perfectly. They even let you go outside on the tarmac to see other airplanes they have and, if you are lucky, see other airplanes moving on the runway and taking off/landing on the airport. There are a couple of airplanes that you can get inside of them and take a pictures as if you were a pilot. In addition, there was a airplane simulator.Originally, I went to take my father that is a big fan of airplanes. He was like a little kid getting excited for every new airplane that he saw. He was definitely most excited to see US Airways Flight 1549 that landed on the Hudson River. An interesting fact one of the employees told us, was that the airplane only suffered minor damages when landing on the river and that the majority of the damages it currently has were caused by the boats moving it.Definitely recommend it. Im saddened that they have to move to a new place.
This museum inspired me more to want to travel and go to the military. My daughter was soo intrigues with a the Boeing American Airline airplane. She wanted to know what happened in detail and who was there and how and why. Something educational in the Charlotte area for the family. We now have matching t-shirts to remind us of this special event.
We loved the aviation museum. The display they have of flight 1549 flown by Captain Sully is outstanding. Staff very friendly too.
Its pretty small, but the entrance fee is also cheap. For an av geek, this place is probably great, but for a casual observer, its just meh. The highlight is the US Airways Airbus A320 operating under Cactus 1549 that made the emergency landing in the Hudson River.
♡ It was an emotional and grateful day and moment . I cant even fully express my emotions. I was able to see and touch the Airbus 320 from the Flight 1549 also known as the Miracle On The Hudson Plane. Im honored to stand here, in front of the AC that performed the greatest ditching in the history of the Aviaton. ♡
The Carolinas Aviation Museum isnt large as aviation museums go and features both military (mostly Navy and Marine Corps) and commercial aircraft, but the centerpiece of the museum is Airbus A320 N106US, the aircraft that was ditched in the Hudson River by its crew on 15 January 2019 after multiple large bird strikes. The aircraft are all well taken care of and beautifully presented and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Its definitely worth the trip to Charlotte for; it was the primary reason I included Charlotte on my road trip and I’m glad I did.
Love dis museum... They have the Hudson airplane in the museum
What a neat museum and definitely a must visit when in Charlotte! I thought I was not going to enjoy this and it looks small from the outside, however, it is a must see! The museum is in an old hangar. I was really impressed with the US Airways 1549 plane on display. This gave me goosebumps! I liked seeing the exhibit and learning more about this. Another cool part was all the period pieces and getting to see how aviation has changed throughout the years. I also like how you are able to sit tin the cockpit of a few of the planes. There is also a 3D flight simulator as well to try your luck at take off and landing. A really cool exhibit to walk thru and watch planes next door take off. Make sure to visit!!
Neat place for aviation enthusiasts. They have quite a few great examples iconic aircraft in really good shape considering their age. The center piece exhibit is the actual Airbus A320 from the Miracle on the Hudson. Lots of great info. The kids enjoyed the flight simulator and getting into a couple of the cockpits.Keep in mind there is no AC where the planes are, but it wasnt too bad even with 90+ degree temps outside.
Theres plenty of great stuff to see here. Highlights include the famous Miracle on the Hudson Airbus A320 and a beautiful Piedmont Airlines Douglas DC-3. Be sure to spend some time exploring the Boeing 727 and McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II cockpits.
Great museum! Its not that big, but we enjoyed seeing all the aircraft, and witnessing with our own eyes the plane that had a miracle landing on the Hudson River was emotional. What an amazing, heroic story that is! We will definitely visit again.
Educational and interesting. The staff is happy to share history and technology info on the aircraft. There are aircraft that we were able to sit in the cockpit, and a flight simulator. It is a lot of fun for young and old.
Loved it.....if you are an enthusiast....must visit....they let you see the planes very closely when they open the gates of the hanger every hour on weekends.Must try the flight simulator that is inclusive in the entry fee which is 12 USD
The layout of the museum is great. There is a great selection of planes to view and the information on each is very well done. It is very humbling to see and read about what occurred on the Hudson River in 2009 but to be feet away from the actual plane...chills! Charlotte Aviation Museum is a MUST for anyone visiting Charlotte!
It was an amazing experience visiting the aviation museum. Got to see the Hudson plane!!! It was amazing.
Good place to spend an afternoon if youre in any way interested in aircraft.
Miracle on the Hudson alone was worth it. Very Educational. Flight simulator included.
BEST OF LIST FOR BEST MUSEUM IN THE CHARLOTTE AREASo you know that plane that crashed in the Hudson river? The one where all of the crew and passengers survived? THEY HAVE THE ACTUAL PANE HERE!!!! YES YOU DID NOT MISREAD THIS! This is an amazing aviation museum. There are a lot of other cool things in here as where.

My family loved this place. The docents were very helpful and friendly. The display on theMiracle of the Hudson was outstanding.
Interesting albeit small aviation museum with the Miracle On The Hudson USAirways Airbus on display as the show piece. With both indoor and outdoor exhibits, this museum is a good place to spend a few hours...like on a sunny Saturday afternoon. The F-4 and B727 cockpits are fun to sit in...especially for kids interested in aviation. Its not a large museum, but worth admission. Easy to get to at Charlotte Douglas International Airport, and free parking. No food is sold, but there is a small gift shop area.
My husband loved this museum. They had extensive memorabilia from the miracle on the Hudson. The gift shop was fantastic and reasonably priced
Pretty cool place. The only downside it that it is hot in there! At least they let you know upfront that theres no a/c in the hanger.
My son had a great time here! Great place to visit in Charlotte.
Great place to walk run ride a bike and take the family.
Great Staff! Way over priced for only one hanger of aircrafts. Extremley hot.
Great displays, interactive and tons of different planes. Well worth the price.
For kids or people who love aircraft this place is great!. Small museum, but the staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Good collection of old aircrafts and fighter planes. World’s first aircraft designed by Wright brothers and Flight 1549.
I went there in 2017.
This place has the plane from miracle on the Hudson, very cool. Also a lot of other historic planes. Must see in Charlotte.
On the smaller side but I highly recommend it.
Loved this place. Big fan of aviation and the people and exibits here brought flight to life..
Our first time visiting and loved it! There is alot of aircraft to see... Commercial and military. A bonus for the kids was the flight simulator!
Fun way to spend extra time near the airport. Amazing to see all of the artifacts from the Miracle in the Hudson.
What a great time! Not as large as I though it would be.. but the ladies said they’re adding on in the near future. The kids had a blast. You can sit outside behind fencing and watch planes land and take off as well! Nice gift shop, friendly staff and a lot of cool planes and information to read. Definitely not an all day event but a before or after lunch run 1hr an 30 mins max.
Visited the museum on a Sunday. I was very surprised at the number of people visiting. It is reasonably priced has a lot of great history. Each exhibit has plenty of posted information and history. My personal favorites were the Piedmont DC-3 and Miracle on the Hudson. The hangar doesnt have any AC, which wasnt a problem since it was cool outside, but I can see it getting quite warm in the summer months. A must for any aviation enthusiast.
Very small museum 1 sights It is only a board that splashed down on the hudson, ticket cost 12 dollars.
Just amazing and a must see museum! The Miracle on the Hudson is indeed the star attraction but there are other cool things here and he C130 outside is just pure history!
Very small unique aviation museum located on the grounds of CLT. The highlight of their exhibits is the remains of US Air 1549 that survived hitting a flock of geese to become the Miracle on the Hudson. They have a small Cessna 150L that you can sit in and manuveur (although it isnt manufactured anymore). There are 18 aircrafts to see including civil, military, commercial and helicopter transport.
Awesome museum that tells the story and history of each aircraft on display. Great time, friendly staff and volunteers.
This is a great stop for kids and adults, with a combination of historical and interactive aviation displays. Be sure to pack a picnic and eat at the outdoor tables while you watch arrivals and departures at CLT airport!
It was really cool and fun. I would go back.
Very organized and amazing museum in this area but the staff were so annoying and clumsy.
The kids had so much fun! The only thing that knocks it down a star is the fact that no drinks were available unless you had cash for the Coke machine. We did find a water fountain, though.
Great museum of aviation. It was a little hard to follow a flow of travel from one plane to the next. But the planes themselves were awesome. Great job!
It’s a family friendly place, the planes ️ are incredible.
Very cool place to go. The Miracle on the Hudson display is amazing to look at. The other planes are really nice to see and read up on and the gift shop is nice. Staff is nice and it is easy in and out. I am not sure how many times I would go back to see it since it is a smaller place but definitely worth a visit.
I really enjoyed my visit. Great museum near the Charlotte airport. The plane recovered from the miracle on the Hudson was amazing. A must visit if you live in the area. About a two hour visit will let you see everything.
The museum is a great value. We had a wonderful afternoon touring military and historical planes, climbing into a cockpit, and pretending to fly fighter jets. The only reason that I cannot award 5 stars is because of the heat. The facility was very warm, but the new renovations should take care of that problem. We will make another visit once the museum has moved to the new facility.
Really surprised how nice and entertaining this museum was. So many planes, plus the open cockpits and the flight simulator. The huge, C130 was great. Plus a Harrier, F14, and some of the Machine 1 Sonic planes that broke the sound barrier. But the biggest surprise was the actual 737 that Sully landed - the miracle on the Hudson. Amazing to see it in person and stand within inches of the actual plane. On top of it all, the staff were obviously aviation fanatics. So much passion and care for the visitor experience. Highly recommend this museum!
Amazing exhibit! Go on the weekend to see the outside planes!
Very small and not really worth the drive from fayetteville. Its really focused on the plane that landed in water.
Seeing the actual plane that landed miraculously on Hudson River was such an amazing experience!!! Staff are wonderful and their souvenir shop is nice. The renovation will take some time so go see before they start.
Love this museum!! They fit so much into this place, and the gift shop is nice too. Admission is reasonably priced. You can spend anywhere from 20 minutes to 2+ hours here depending on your interest level and whether or not you read all the text available with the respective exhibits. Definitely a must-see in the Charlotte area.
This museum was really awesome. The miracle on the Hudson exhibit was worth the visit and cost of admission alone. There are plenty of cockpits that you can climb in and have great photo opportunities. There is also a large flight simulator that seems to be very popular. I would recommend getting there at opening to avoid crowds and lines.
Very cool and surreal collection.
My 2 year old boy loved it. Lots of fun and very nice tour guides
My family had an unexpected free day, but the weather was cold and rainy, so we decided to stay indoors. Not far from our hotel was the Carolinas Aviation Museum. The biggest display was the plane from Flight 1549, the plane that Captain Sullivan landed on the Hudson River. Absolutely incredible. Staff at the museum were so helpful in explaining different planes, and their histories. If you love a little bit of history, and a lot about planes, this is a great place to go.
Great history of flight museum, from mock up of Wright bros plane to jets and the actual plane that Capt Sully landed in the river in New York
Closed at 4pm when I arrived. Wow. I didnt get to visit. Thought that would be plenty early to look around. Also $11 or $12 for an adult, I forget which. But sounds like more than most would be willing to pay.
An awesome adventure!!
Great place to learn new things and place to relax but the staffs is a bit rude.
A very nice museum, located near the airport. The old planes are housed here, as well as the Miracle on the Hudson plane. The commentary and descriptions throughout are very well laid out. Plan on at least 1 hour inside the museum. The only let down was that the facility is not air-conditioned and I was there on a unseasonably warm day.
Its a small collection of aircrafts. Whatever is there is good to experience. Main theme is the Airbus A320 landing on the river Hudson aircraft display and the event.
Its a small museum, but it has on display some aircraft and artifacts of great significance. It was moving and surreal to see the replica office of Mr. Davis of Piedmont Airlines and aviation pioneer in our state, as well as the A320 from the Miracle on the Hudson landing. These are just 2 examples of the historic aircraft on display, and I wont give too many spoilers. This small, unassuming museum is a must see for any aviation enthusiast.
I highly recommend this place. It’s fun for all ages. My toddler son loved seeing all the aircrafts. And I personally found myself learning a lot. The outside area has some tables and chairs and you can see airplanes taking off and landing in distance. The gift shop has some really good stuff. I would recommend to spend some time there as well. Great book selection for kids. There’s also a overlook spot if you want to take your kids to watch more airplanes taking off. Just ask the front desk for a direction guide.
Great little museum. Always love aircraft, from America’s first jet fighter to the Miracle on the Hudson. If you are a plane geek, make the effort!
Very impressive airplanes and awesome information. Lived their gift shop with such unique items and the staff was very friendly. My only criticism was that it is a little small, but still impressive.
Very nice day spent here. The staff was friendly. We walked at our own pace. They had a few outside planes to look at, its in a hanger so be weather aware. There are big fans but not air conditioning. We took our 2.5 yr old & she loved it! Plus its close to the airport landing strip so you can drive over & watch the planes take off
Awesome museum with great displays and exhibits. Enjoyed the flight 1549 exhibit and the Tomcat, especially.
We visited this museum today. The Miracle on the Hudson is a very moving exhibition, the actual plane offers insight into what happened when the Canadian geese flew into the engines. How Sully Sullivan managed to save everyone is a true miracle!
This was really neat place. The kids enjoyed the flight simulator and seeing the planes up close. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Great place for kids.
Very informative. SUPER hot. I know its a common hazard for a giant airplane hanger, but a few more fans couldnt hurt anything.
You need to go now to the Museum before they close. They are having to move due to airport management wants the hangers back. Isnt that the way it goes. Great displays. Most interesting was the plane that landed in the Hudson River
Really interesting exhibit about the Sully landing on the Hudson. Worth checking out for sure. Good way to spend a couple hours on a rainy day.
Great little museum. The collection centers around the history of aviation in the Carolinas from the Wright Brothers through Piedmont and to USAirways 1549.We visited on the final day of the museums current location and the future is indefinite as they need to find a new location.
Such a great place to visit. My boyfriend and I had a blast. Make sure to check out the flight simulation!
A must see, but better hurry! Closing July 14 unfortunately! Miracle on the Hudson exhibit will knock your socks off! Then theres all the other aircraft!! Gift shop all half off!!!!
So glad we went! I was surprised how much they actually had and was thrilled to see the Miracle on the Hudson plane there! My girls loved it and enjoyed all the interactive exhibits. I even got to fly the simulator.
Awesome to see all of the planes, including the Miracle on the Hudson plane.
Took my boyfriend here for our second date and we had a great time learning about all the different airplanes etc and they have a cute little gift shop.. I would highly recommend coming here and look forward to coming back as well
Wasnt as big as I expected, but great small outing for the family. Also they have a few cool airliners and helicopters. The toys at the gift shop are surprisingly wallet friendly, very sturdy and well designed.
Its okay...not worth a special trip. Its just one hanger that mostly devoted to the Miracle on the Hudson. That was cool. We like supporting aviation museums regardless of size. They did have a nice gift shop.
The hangar was hot because of the time of year visited but still a very interesting trip. I didnt know that the one plane that landed on the Hudson River in NYC was stored here. A very interesting and surreal piece of history. The planes up close are truly large.
Great to see the actual plane that landed on the Hudson. Miracle!
Place where the “Miracle on the Hudson” plane is resting. They have many War Birds as well.
This is a great little museum. We got a ride over during a layover and it took us about an hour to see everything. The staff and docents are friendly and informative. Theres an interesting collection of planes, including the actual plane from the Miracle on the Hudson. There are also several cockpits you can sit in, a flight simulator and a cute gift shop.
There is a lot of information on each one of the myriad of aircraft there including the actual A320 that landed in the Hudson River. This is an awesome place and will be returning soon!
Terrible lighting. Facility is nice. Main exhibit is hard to beat. Someone thought it was a good idea to put in mood lighting. It’s not enough. Too dark to enjoy all the aircrafts. I will return when this is rectified.
Amaizing place, a lot of histoty. My favorite was seeing the airways that landed on the Hudson river
I found it to be very dark, dismal and boring. Im rating it 4 stars though because the kids with me LOVED every minute. We went on family day so it was free, if we had paid admission, I would have been sorely disappointed. Restrooms were clean. Nice gift shop.
Sad to hear it is going away. Got to see the airplane that Captain Sully landed in Miracle on the Hudson along with other some other really cool planes and airline related memories. If you can get there before it closes I would highly recommend going.
Great museum! Its not that big, but we enjoyed seeing all the aircraft, and witnessing with our own eyes the plane that had a miracle landing on the Hudson River was emotional. What an amazing, heroic story that is! Thanks for inviting me
This place was incredible! And the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Worth the stop for sure!
