Great fun walking this bridge. The views of Patriots Point (and the USS Yorktown) are fantastic and its only about 1.5 miles across on the wide pedestrian/bike pathway on the eastern side. Parking and bathrooms are available on the north end of the bridge.

This bridge is also known as the Cooper river bridge. This is a cable-stayed bridge. It was opened to traffic in 2005 and it connects Charleston, SC to Mount Pleasant, SC. It is 2.5 miles long with 8 lanes of traffic. You can get great views of this from the water especially when coming back from Fort Sumter.

This is a very nice walk. The bridge is beautiful and there is a nice breeze from the water. I think people will find the walk refreshing. We parked on the Mt Pleasant side of the bridge and walked to the Charleston side. This is a great activity for families. Young children should be in a stroller.

Nice and windy. Even on hot days the tempeture is nice because of the breeze. Plenty of free parking on mount pleasant side. Friendly people. Bike lane and walk/run lane. Not sure where or if theres a bathroom. Never had to use it.

Get place to go for a walk with an amazing view! It was very windy, but felt good. The bridge is about 4.5 miles. There is free parking directly below the bridge as well. Please note pets are not allowed on the bridge based on the signage, however there is no one there to enforce that I saw. The path way is divided with walkers and bikers so just be mindful of the fellow pedestrians.

This is a great stop for any trip to the area. Cute park area with playground and a walkout into the river under the bridge on the Patriots point side. Its a 2.5 mile walk from side to side and you feel the incline in your calves for sure. Beautiful views of the bay, dolphins, the battleship and cruise ships. Its breezy the whole way so nice even on sweltering days.

From the top of the huge bridge, between historical towns Charleston and Mount Pleasant, we had the chance of having a magnificent view of the junction of Cooper River and Wando River. To reach the place, from Mount Pleasant, go to Patriots Point, near the gas station, where the side walk starts. It’s 2,3 miles to the middle of the bridge (4,6 miles to the end, in Charleston). The other side of the bridge doesn’t have a side walk.

Spectacular views! Great incline workout, love that its 5 miles. The noise from the cars is pretty loud, so earbuds are helpful. We walked, and for the most part the cyclists were fine, there were a few that going pretty fast. Its important to stay in the correct lane and pay attention.

This summer we had the pleasure of seeing this bridge in person for the first time. As a retired Flatiron Construction worker I had heard about this bridge for the 12 years I worked for Flatiron but had never had the privilege of going to it. We got the chance this summer, 2019, and again I am impressed by the bridges that Flatiron has been privileged to construct. To us this was called the Arthur Ravenel Bridge (Cooper River) and when constructed it was the longest cable stay bridge in North America. Flatiron has built the 3 longest of these bridges in NA. What a beautiful site as you drive across to watch the cable reach for the deck of the bridge. They just seem pop out of the deck and transport you toward the top of the piers. It can be mesmerizing so make sure you are a passenger as you are transported up, not the driver. Take a look at the John J Audubon Bridge over the Mississippi in Louisiana. That is another great cable stay bridge.

Crossing over this beautiful bridge could be hazardous to your health if youre not watching where you are going! The beautiful views of boats in the shimmering water reflecting against the blue sky is breathtaking! Its easy to get distracted when driving from one side to the next. The architecture of this landmark is unique in design. Its beautiful at night as well. The lit bridge illuminates the night sky and can been seen from different parts of Charleston and Mt. Pleasant.

We had visited the Yorktown the day before and then took the opportunity to run the bridge where we could look across at the Flying Lady. Under the bridge there is plenty of Parking and there is plenty of space on the bridge to maneuver. The access to the bridge is very nice and has room. The view from the bridge is awesome. To go up the bridge from the Mt pleasant side is tough but not too hard. There were all shapes and sizes up there. They have water on the bottom of the bridge but no where on the way so bring some water. There is room, nice people, awesome views and physically challenging but not too hard. Go for it.

Heck of a bridge, true modern marvel. The Ravenel Bridge gets 5 starts because without it, getting to Charleston from Mount Pleasant would take 3 times as long... or wed have to swim. The incline is perfect for a hill sprint workout or a long walk with great views of the lowcountry.

As one of Charlestons aerial aerial and drone photographers, Im often asked to photograph the bridge for a company brochure, website, or annual report.
