This is a pretty place to go to for a picnic, but I’m surprised no one has mentioned the barking dogs from the research lab next door. It’s sometimes a little tough to deal with.

Pretty much every lake in Central NC is a reservoir but this is one of the only ones I know of that wont allow dogs. Worse than that is I am unable to enjoy it because I work weekends and its closed the rest of the week. Its probably okay if you work a M-F 9-5 job and dont like to take your pet on walks. Shame because I live within walking distance.

Nice place

A pretty good fishing experience if you know what to expect. Its a local water source source so therere understandably rules about keeping the water clean. Rowboat rental was a good deal for two people, about $10.

Really a beautiful lake and friendly staff at the facility. Prices were a little high for rentals though. I would have given it more stars if the fishing was better too. Ive had better luck with fishing (and prices) at Lake Johnson in Raleigh and Lake Michael in Mebane.

Not dog friendly or visitor friendly. Wont be back.
