The 1949 Potawatomi Indian Chief Kesis statue was moved to Curtis Orchard from Danville in 1995. This copper monument is 17 feet tall. It was made by local sculptor Herbert Drews who had a heating and cooling business at 3716 N. Vermilion Street in Danville. Chief Kesis was installed in front of this business from 1949 to 1995. Drews hammered copper sheets over a steel framework to create the statue. One of the Curtis Orchard owners is a grandson of the sculptor and moved the statue to Champaign.
