This was worth the drive out of the way! There were several walking paths and neat artwork. There was also a nearby dog park which I had not known before but next time Ill be bringing my puppy with me! I was definitely pleased with this park.

A gorgeous prairie restoration with very nice, paved walking trails. The singing birds and plethora of bumblebees and butterflies are a testament to how important parks that incorporate native habitat are to wildlife. Theres also a pond with a footbridge and a dock. The trails are handicap accessible.

Great place to see prairie restoration in progress. Good walking paved trails. Nice playground. The restoration is in early years yet but with scheduled burning, prairie flowers are returning. Visit often to watch the rapid changes in the spring. Better yet, become a Master Naturalist and volunteer in the process!

Porter Park was great. I love being able to walk on the sidewalks rather than uneven ground. I love the natural habitat. So does my dog. Relaxing too.

Definitely one of the nicest parks in C-U.About 4 swings, couple slides, etc. But what makes this Park great for kids are the climbing features and the natural beauty and natural playscape. And if you dont have kids, or kids get tired playing, there are paths for walking, Bridges over a pond, and plenty to explore.

Porter Park is a unique area that started out as a grassy addition to a housing development on the far edge of the city. Thanks to careful nurturing by the Champaign Park Distict it has become a wonderful natural habitat. It is threaded with sidewalks that are ideal for biking, hiking, rollerblading and skateboarding, completely wheelchair accessible. There are ponds and running water, and waterfowl can be seen time to time.

Not enough shade. Can be brutal when the sun is full. Great for evening walking.

Another park with restored prairie like Meadowbrook park. This one is much smaller and without forest features. What few trees there are are still quite young. The main walking path is only about half a mile. That said, its still a nice large park with a lot to offer. Theres a pavilion with a bit of open grass area adjacent to a playground and a lake. Good place to pass time with family or just for a stroll.

A good size prairie park. It has a playground structure. There is good parking for the normal amount of traffic. The paths are great for a walk or bike. Not a five star for me because of the lack of a bathroom aside from the seasonal porta potty. Some days it can smell a bit in the area because if the water treatment plant across the way.
